StarscapeIsolated from the rest of the galaxy by a vast gulf of burnspace, the Starscape Clusters are thick with life. All sorts of species thrive on these worlds, growing, rising, and falling. And when life is present, thought follows soon after. Sentient worlds are arising, turning their factories towards starships and launching those starships towards the stars. Space is a deadly and unforgiving place; will you master it through manipulation and knowledge, or through the might of your mighty battleships? For you are the leader of your race. Lead it well.---Starscape is set in a region of space known as, what do you know, Starscape. Thousands of stars abound, but only a select few hold planets suitable for life, and all of them are hotly contested by other races.Maps:(Credit to Alex Humva)Sector 1Sector 2Sector 3Sector 6Color Key: http://www.majhost.c...us/colorkey.pngYou begin with a single planet, your species' Homeworld. For the sake of simplicity, each star system contains at least one habitable world for your species to live on, and the resources needed to begin space travel. In addition, you may either choose to begin with two Inner Colony Worlds, or four Colonizer ships ready. If you pick the former, those two worlds were colonized by slower than light ships before your race developed star travel.Interacting With An Entire UniverseControlling an entire species may seem hard at first, but it's simple to get the hang of. Here's a quick exampleIC:Alarms sounded aboard the Skelvan Battleship as radar signatures from the edge of the radar's range came in; four ships, Alansik by their configuration, had appeared some two million miles away. Knowing that was far outside missile range, the Skelvan Captain gave the order to sight in with his Frigate's laser. A kill at this range would be the wildest stroke of luck, but he had to try, knowing reinforcements would be arriving as soon as they could, since the planet's warning system sent out the alert the moment the radar signatures came in.IC:“Transition successful, all systems nominal, wait.” A lieutenant on the Alansik lead cruiser reported. “Laser damage to the outer skin of the ship. Looks like they're hitting us already. Minimal damage, but that means they've found us.” The Alansik Captain sighed, and gave the order to move at full burn towards the Skelvan planet. Now, the important part here is that the player controlling the Alansik let the Skelvan player have the hit; if he'd just declared the Laser was an outright miss, it wouldn't be fair. But by ensuring the Skelvan's laser didn't do much damage, and it wouldn't at that range, he kept it fair for both sides but still sensible. And that's the most important part, keep it fair but sensible. Don't go breaking any laws of physics.Faster Than Light Travel:The ability to travel faster than light, without the relativistic consequences that entails, is utterly critical to a spacefaring empire. Without it, worlds can only be reached by generations of slow rocket travel. The Jump Drive is a possibility realized late in any race's existence, long after they've usually begun exploring their own solar system. The mathematics of the jump drive are beyond most people, so instead you get a practical explanation.A Jump Drive cannot operate deep in a gravity well. In orbit of a planet, the gravity becomes so strong that any ships trying to do so are torn apart by the brief moment of transition, where the laws of physics remake themselves in new and exciting ways. Thus, a distance of two million kilometers from any terrestrial planet is advised, though you could risk it at one million. Remember that larger gravity wells, like gas giants, stars, and black holes, require longer distances away. This also applies to jumping into space near a gravity well, which as an early warning system for the planet's defenders. In addition, Jumps, while taking less than a milisecond, do not have infinite range. One can direct the Jump Drive in a certain direction, but the Jump Drive will go towards the most powerful gravity well in that direction. This almost always means the closest, as well, so ships can only jump from one system to the nearest. In addition, a Jump Drive is a fickle and unpredictable device, requiring a certain amount of waiting time before it can be used again. However, the actual length of time is near impossible to predict. Thus, a Jump Drive can be used once every real-world hour, no matter how much time in-game this represents. There are also so called “Burnspace Zones” These areas are small pockets of space where it is impossible to make a jump into or out of. A massive spherical shell of burnspace surrounds the Orion Arm, locking ships inside. Burnspace Zones also make good places to hide something you want to keep secret. Their origin and nature are not well known. The inverse of Burnspace Zones, “Sweet Spots” are areas where an entire solar system's gravitational pull is equal in every direction, created only occasionally by the differing speeds of planets orbiting their star(s). These allow for ships to jump away or from their destinations far, far closer than normal. You may only use a Sweet Spot in an area you control or in an area you have detailed astronomical data on. For combat, these must be used with GM approval, but once a sweet spot is used, if the ships using it were seen by another party, that sweet spot can be used by anyone until it disappears, which a GM will decide when it happens.Communication: Faster than Light Communication sends electromagnetic waves, not mass, and is not limited by the above. You can communicate with all your worlds, and with any race who gives you their contact information.IndustryNow, the amount and size of spaceships you can field depends on how many worlds you control, and how industrialized those worlds are. Each world is classed by its industrial output on a rating of -2 through 5, 5 being the highest a planet can reasonably reach. Each level has a “maturing time” which is the length of real world time it takes to grow to the next level.-2: Colony: This world is dependent on the rest of the empire for resources and population. 3 Days. May not build ships.-1: Protectorate: The world is beginning to establish its own industry and farming, but is still dependent on the rest of the empire. It may produce one resource and ship it out in exchange for the goods it imports. 3 Days. May not build ships.0: Self-sustaining: With a zero sum survival based economy, this world can support its own population with everything they require, but its industrial output is negligible. 3 Days. May not build ships.1: Outer World: This world can support a very small space-navy, and has minor interstellar shipping and transport. 1 Week2: Inner World: This world can support a good sized navy, and is possibly exports a good amount of goods. 10 Days3: Core World: This world has an excellent industrial output and can export several different resources in addition to supporting a navy. 2 Weeks4: Forge World: Massive industrial output; supports a good portion of the local navy and exports manufactured goods throughout the region. 4 Weeks5: Homeworld: This planet is the only classification capable of producing Colonizers and putting out the population required. Valued as much for their status as centers of trade and government as for their massive industrial output. Your first planet starts at this level.A planet contributes a number of “Industry Points” equal to its level number(above) to an empire's total industry. For example, an empire consisting of a Homeworld, an Inner Worlds, a Core World, and a Colony would have a total Industry of 8(5+2+3-2=8) Thus, this empire can field 8 points worth of ships. This represents everything that it takes to field a ship, from paying and feeding the crew, replacing those members who die, upgrading and refitting the ship occasionally, repairs after a battle, and, most expensively, fueling the ship.ShipsEach ship is divided into one of several classes, according to their size and upkeep. Actual roles within these classes can vary wildly, but it is mainly the size of a ship that determines how much industry must be devoted to maintaining it.Build Times: Each ship is a massive industrial undertaking by the world it was built by; think what the International Space Station has taken Earth; twenty years of work and it's a flimsy station that would be annihilated with a single missile. Better materials and industrial methods cut that down, but it's still a huge undertaking. Each ship class takes a certain amount of real world time to produce. These are listed along with the ship's industry cost.Slots: Each ship has a number of slots for mounting weaponry. See below for further detailsFighter: Small, one to five man ships with minimal armor and weapons, mainly used to attack larger ships and defend large ships from other fighters. Not capable of FTL travel, so they must be moved by Carriers or stationed on Starbases.Industry Cost: 0. Build Time: 1 Day for 10. 3 SlotsSmall: Frigates and Gunboats, crew sizes range depending on the race. Small ships are usually employed either as Fighter hunters, Scout ships, Stealth craft, and the like, and can be fielded in large numbers.Industry Cost: 1 for 4 Small Ships. Build Time: 3 Days for 4. 7 SlotsMedium: Cruisers, destroyers, and the like are classed as Medium ships; they can be fielded in numbers and they are useful for force projection as well as defense, making them an ideal ship of the line; these should make up the majority of any self-respecting fleet.Industry Cost: 1. Build Time: 3 Days. 10 SlotsLarge: Battleships and Dreadnoughts are the ships that capture the hearts and minds of the masses; great, powerful ships with enormous weapon batteries, blasting holes in enemy fleets and destroying entire cities with a few barrages. Even the rumor of a large ship being present can change the tide of war. In addition, battleships can mount your Racial Superweapon; what this weapon does is up to you, but make it powerful and creative. Despite their use as an intimidation weapon and morale booster, Large ships are rather impractical, given their upkeep cost.Industry Cost: 3. Build Time: 1 Week. 15 Slots and one Superweapon SlotStarbases: Usually placed orbiting a planet, Starbases are large defensive measures used to protect a planet with orbital guns in addition to providing a docking harbor for ships which cannot land. Immobile, anchored over a planet. Carries twenty Fighters. Can make battlefield repairs on ships during a battle.Industry Cost: 1. Build Time: 1 Week. 17 Slots.Colonizers: Not necessarily one ship, perhaps a whole fleet, a colonizer is part transport, part mass-terraforming system. Colonizers are warp capable, and used to expand your empire. Only Homeworlds may build them. They are expensive to keep up, but are usually a temporary measure. The entire colonizer is recycled by the newly landed colonists, and thus cannot be re-used.Industry Cost: 4. Build Time: 1 Week. 0 Slots.Note: You may begin the game with one of the two following options1: Two Star Systems adjacent to your Homeworld have been colonized in the past by Slower Than Light Travel. These worlds begin as Inner Worlds(Industry 2)2: Your species has planned for the invention of the Jump Drive; You may start with four Colonizer ships. For the first three days of your game, your Industry suffers no negative modifiers from Colonizers or Planets, as they have in advance prepared a surplus of items the colonists will need. Also, no matter which option you choose, you begin the game with a single unarmed Small ship.Gun Sizes: Each weapon takes up a fit amount of space, power, and crew. To this end, each Weapon Size takes up a certain amount of Weapon Slots, and each ship has so many Weapon Slots.Small Weapons: Of the scale one might mount as a Main Battle Tank's Main Gun, these weapons are effective against small ships for their rate of fire and low power requirements, but can't do enough damage to slice through larger ships' armor. 1 SlotMedium Guns: Generally a Small Ship's single main gun, and a standard weapon on a Medium Ship. Capable of being used against any ship type, but ideally used against Small and Medium Ships. 4 SlotsLarge Guns: Used for bombarding enemy planets and destroying Battleships and Starbases, a Large Gun is usually so long it takes up the length of a Battleship. Thus, it cannot track its targets quickly enough to hit Fighters or Small ships, but it is devastating against what it can hit. 7 SlotsSuperweapon: Mounted only on Large ships, Superweapons are capable of utterly destroying a single ship, or carving large holes in enemy fleets. A ship only carries a single Superweapon Charge before it needs to return to a port to reload(which cannot be done mid battle) Superweapons take up their own slot. Superweapons also encourage the most creativity out of all the weapons, since they will likely define your Navy to other players.Upgrades: These systems can be fitted to a ship to aid a ship in battle, or specialize in a certain role. If you want to see a new one added, PM me and I'll consider it.Carrier Bays: Allows ships to carry fighters and dropships inside. 10 per bay, limit 2 per ship. 5 Slots, +1 Industry, Not allowed on Fighters.Point Defense Systems: 1 Slot, fires on incoming missiles and fighters, etc. Useless versus Lasers, Plasma, Bullets, that sort of thing.Dropship: An upgrade for a particular class, similar to a Carrier Bay but specified towards planetary landings. A ship with one of these bays may carry a Company of troops, a Tank Squadron, or a Lance of Battlemechs(to be explained later). Cannot be mounted on Large ships, as they are not trans-atmospheric. The payload can either be dropped from orbit via drop pods, or take the safer route of landing the ship directly. 5 Slots, +1 IndustryActions: Sometimes, a Fleet will go beyond its role of exploration and simple naval fights. Certain strategic actions can have long standing effects on a nation's economy.Blockade: Employing ships and perhaps Starbases, a fleet simply shoots down any ship that tries to land on or take off from the target planet. You can begin this action once you have destroyed the planet's defensive fleet. Holding up a Blockade costs 1 Industry Point, but it completely removes the target planet's Industry from the enemy empire. If the Blockading ships are destroyed or forced to retreat, the blockade ends.Bombardment: Since a Spaceship is near immune to attack from the ground, it is essentially the ultimate weapon for destroying your enemies. Each real world day of bombardment reduces the planet's industry by 1, down to a minimum of -4. A bombardment takes 2 Industry Points to sustain.Invasion: The fleet is landing ground troops on the surface of the planet, provide close support to those troops, and attempting to conquer the planet. An Invasion takes 2 Industry Points to sustain. The enormous support provided by a fleet in orbit makes victory guaranteed eventually. If the invading fleet is not destroyed after two weeks, the planet switches to control of the invading player, with its industry level reduced by 1. This requires the use of Dropships to land ground troops on the planet.Refit: for a full scale refit of an entire fleet to match new weapon paradigms, you have two options. The first is to refit part of the fleet at a time, having the rest of the fleet ready for battle while a certain portion is being refitted. This takes three days. Alternately, you can have the entire fleet drydocked and refitted in one day, but for that day you are vulnerable.System UpgradesThere comes a time when ships and starbases aren't enough; your system may be under threat of assault from your neighbors, or perhaps you simply have nothing else to put there. These System Upgrades can enhance the useability of a system;Satellite Detection NetSatellites are scattered around the system, especially in the outer edges, increasing the chances of reaction time. Uses electromagnetic sensors and electromagnetic transmitters; it increases the chance of Detection and boosts the reaction time for the forces, though the transmission is still limited by Speed Of Light.Build Time: 3 DaysIndustrial Upkeep: 0Satellite Detection Net-Ansible EquippedIdentical to a Satellite Detection net, but the satellites are equipped with Ansibles(faster-than-light transmitters), reducing transmission time. However, Ansibles are delicate, and require constant maintenance.Build time: 3 DaysIndustrial Upkeep: 1Planetary Defense NetworkSomething like a point defense network, but on a planet wide scale. A hundred small satellites circle your planet, either in geosync or standard ‘X length of orbit’ orbits. These are all the same model, with three weapon slots. When building the defense network you specify what weapons these satellites possess; three weapon slots may seem small but these satellites are not made for defending by themselves anything larger than a small fleet; instead they provide support, filling space with bullets, lasers, or what have you while your fleet bravely protects your world. Do keep in mind that a death of a thousand paper cuts is death nonetheless. However, these satellites, being small, can be easily knocked out with even a small gun; fighters can mop them up with ease and a few well aimed shots from a frigate could seriously wound your network.Build Time: 2 WeeksIndustrial Upkeep: 3Additional Shipyards:Additional shipyards are pretty simple; they’re additional shipyards to increase production of a fleet. Unlike other upgrades these are stackable; you can have two in orbit of a planet, though not three as the planet’s industrial output maxes out at five. For each additional shipyards your world gains one more production slot; for instance you could build two ships at the same time, or build a starbase and a ship at the same time. It does not however allow you to build while system upgrades are happening; all resources go to making the upgrade, so ship build up is put on hold. Keep in mind that these are not like starbases; starbases have guns, these do not. An enemy fleet can destroy these shipyards if given an open shot.Build Time: Two weeks.Upkeep: 2 Industry Points.System Minefield: Generally reserved for strategically critical areas, a System Minefield makes the outer edges of the system thick with some sort of defensive mechanism, from standard explosive mines to nuclear shaped charges, or something similarly powerful. The System Minefield is expensive to create and uphold, but it gives a certain chance to fire upon an incoming target with the field's mines.Build Time: Two WeeksIndustry Cost: 1-5. Each point of Industry put into a System Minefield increases the chance of Interception by 10%(+2 to the roll of a d20, precisely) up to a max of 5 Industry Points. If the enemy is not intercepted, it has slipped by undetected. This only functions in the outer edges of the system; closer in, you must rely on your fleets to defend yourself. Ground FortificationsWhen invasion comes there is little hope of success if starships are assisting the invaders. All you can do is buy for time until reinforcements arrive; this gives you more time. While normally you can last two weeks until your world is lost, this doubles it, giving you a full four weeks to call for reinforcements and break the siege. Unlike other upgrades this has no industry upkeep, making it a nice upgrade to consider when things are at a lull.Build Time: One week.Upkeep: 0 Industry PointsPlanetary Launch Bases: Essentially a system for getting fighters into space from the ground. Perhaps they're launched out of large Mass Drivers, or simply have large booster rockets attached. However it works, this system is used to launch fighters into space from the planet, essentially acting as a planetary carrier bay.Build Time: Two WeeksUpkeep: 2 Industry PointsInvested Colony:An economic upgrade, this allows you to increase your colonies growth; it grows from a colony world to a protectorate in one day an a protectorate to self sustaining in one day. The flip side of this ability to establish a colony in two days is that the industry cost is tripled; a colony takes six IP out of the empire and a protectorate takes three. After this massive investment your economy suffers a one IP drain for five days as it recovers from sending so many resources to the colony. Something else is that you must commit to your decision; once you’ve invested you won’t be able to stop until it’s reached self sustaining.Build Time: Two days.Upkeep: 6 first day, 3 second day, 1 for five days after it reaching self sustaining.Technology Ban ListTime TravelBlack Hole GunsSpacetime-Fabric ProjectorsTeleportationEverything SensorsNanobots(only military ones; nanobots used for construction, medical tech, civilian applications, etc, are just fine.)Artificial Gravity(besides spinning sections on ships)Rules1: BZP Rules Apply2: Use IC, OOC, and OICwhatudidthar3: No godmoding, auto-hitting, or auto dodging4: Yarn5: Be respectful. These are other people's thoughts, work, and in a lot of cases, opinions out in text, so be nice.6: If you don't know of a scientific or practical reason you couldn't do it, you can try it. It might get shot down by the GMs, though. Try anyway, we might be asleep :P7: Anyone who invokes Godwin's Law by making deliberate parallels to Nazis, Fascist Italy, or WWII Era Imperial Japan will have a -1 Industry penalty for three days. Calling someone Hitler or a Nazi(even jokingly) is -2 for one week.8: When ownership of a planet changes. PM Alex Humva the change.Warning System: Be good to the Game Masters, or this sort of thing will happen to you.1: Warning2: Warning, -1 Industry penalty for a week.3: A Sweet Spot opens up on one of your border worlds, well inside your defenses. Enjoy dealing with the invasion. Alternately, -3 industry penalty for a week.4: One of your planets is lost to calamity. Perhaps a nanobot uprising, or perhaps a viral plague. Whatever happens, one planet's worth of your species extinct5: That Calamity from earlier? It spreads. Start over with a new species.6: Banned.Species Profile(PM this to me)Username: (Obvious)Species Name: (Make it interesting!)Description: (Physical appearance, psychological details, government system, etc.)History: (Why are they in space? Why do they use the government they do? Details like that)Homeworld Name: (Humans call our planet Earth for a reason. Why do these people call their world what they do?)Homeworld Location: (Try for one that's not taken.)Map Color: (So we can see what you own)Ship Class Profile:(Like in the real world, ships will usually be built follow the blueprints of an earlier one. This becomes known as a Class. Also, be creative with your ship naming. Maybe a neat theme, or something.)Class Name: (Generally, a ship is named, and members of its class follow the theme, like how American Aircraft Carriers are named after Admirals or Presidents.)Class Size: (Fighter, Small, Medium, Large)Class Function And Description: (Some ships are generalists, others are specialists for one role. Give us a quick explanation here.)Class Weapons: (Keep it realistic, can't put three hundred guns on a fighter.)Weapon Profile: Fill this out and add it to your profiles so we know what you're talking about in your ship profiles.Name: (Either describe its function or be creative. "Autocannon" works just as well as "Super Megalaser of Death" or "Yarn Gun")Weapon Size: (Small, medium, large, superweapon)Mechanics: (No need to explain stuff like lasers, but if you're making up an exotic weapon, be sure to explain how it works. If you want to help show off, Lloyd, The White Wolf has made a banner, which can be found Here.If your profile was approved before the RPG launched, you're good to go. However, you might want to take a glance at the Industry system, whose numbers have slightly changed, and at the map and color key. If something's amiss there, get on the horn to Alex Humva and have him change it. Be sure to send him your homeworld, your colonies if any, and a color of your choice.Making this very clear since there was some confusionEACH SYSTEM MAY BUILD ONE THING AT A TIME, IF, AND ONLY IF, ITS INDUSTRY MODIFIER IS POSITIVE.

"The Astarians responded that making a goat fly would be trivial; making it land safely would be another matter entirely."

OOC: Might as well get the ball rolling - before offense, defense. Class Name: Carreg-durClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: Robust orbital-defense station, meant to hold off an invasion with minimal support from mobile forces. The Carreg-dur is an automated military satellite locked in geostationary orbit. It receives its orders from command-stations located on the planet below, and each Carreg-dur starbase serves both to detect an approaching threat and as the most reliable means of dealing with it.Class Weapons: Solet heavy armor (3), Dant-a-Grafanc (5), Gwaed-a-Dur (1), Fighter Bay (1) Name: Solet heavy armorWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: The inclusion of this on a unit's load-out indicates a coat of armor so thick that weapons slots had to be sacrificed to make room for it. Most likely to be seen on defensive units, Solet heavy armor simply provides an extra layer of protection from attack. Name: Dant-a-Grafanc Weapon Size: Point-defenseMechanics: A turret-based array of autocannons, with an attached targeting computer to enhance accuracy. Name: Gwaed-a-DurWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: Large-bore Gauss cannon, uses electromagnetic coils to accelerate a metallic projectile to high velocities for maximum damage on impact.

OOC: My stuff's been approved, I'll have to post it later. Sorry about the bad intro IC, better ones to come.IC: The Jump Drive was finally complete. With this invention, the Treanuan Confederation was ready to expand to the stars. Four colonizers were sent out- to systems 2-34, 2-35, 2-43, and 2-47, from the Treanu system, 2-42. Four colonies were established, and terraforming begun.Meanwhile, construction on three ODPs was begun to protect from any attack on Treanu, in 2-42.OOC: Colonies established, 10/31Construction on ODPs begun, 10/31.

Well, would you just look at that?

OOC: I think it might be best for you to go ahead and post the specs for your Orbital Defense Platforms. I'm following my usual method of making up technology as I go along, so I've got to wait for the official go ahead on the Carreg-dur.

IC: Across viewscreens all over the planet one could see a small grey object drifting against a backdrop of the white-speckled void. The planet was nearly silent as the populace held its collective breath, listening as the news anchor counted off the seconds."Three...""Two...""One..."The grey object, the Kalarii exploratory ship Vision disappeared from the screens (and from space as well of course). The next hour was spent by goverment scientists and politicians discussing the workings ofte ship and how it would lead to a glorious future. Finally, a transmission from the next planet over, the Kalarii Federation territory of Szalath was broadcast to the public: "This is governor Tsanka of Szalath. The exploratory vessel Vision has arrived safely with no reported problems, over."A reply was immeadiately given by the Federation Consul, "This is Consul Anreis. Status noted. Vision may proceed."Cheering could be heard all around the planet but it died down quickly as attention returned to the screens. The relay between the two planetary heads was closed and the viewscreen picture changed, once again showing the Kalarii vessel, this time being recorded from quite a number of light years away.Once again the ship disappeared, this time without any report. The ship had gone out into the universe alone. This was an achievement unmatched by any in history. The cheering would not subside until weeks later.IC: Kalarii exploratory vessel from A8 to A7.Industry:Coloniser constructing over A-9 expected 11月7日2 Eversmanii light constructing over A-8 expected 11月3日1 Lutra medium constructing over A-10 expected 11月3日OOC: If I'm doing anything wrong let me know. OOC: Username: The Power that IsSpecies Name: Alizarin-Folly-Carmine-Tangelo-Aureolin-Gamboge (Will accept Alizarin)Description: The Alizarin were one of the first species to evolve on their planet. And they just kept on evolving. They appear to be in a state mid-way between otopodes and jellyfish. They have a central 'hub' with dozens of long tendrils extending from it, all about 4-5 feet long in total. Like an octopus these tendrils are dextrous and strong enough to manipulate tools, and are covered in a toughened hide to protect them from damage along with a row of microscopic bristles tainted with poison. But, more like a jellyfish, their bodies are less developed, being essentially a spongy mass all but devoid of features. It is covered in the same rough hide as the tentacles, though occasionally the knobbly texture flows into whorls that represent an optical sensor capable of picking up light and colour in fine detail. They use these to communicate, fading into different colours and releasing different scents rather than speaking, as they lack mouths capable of speech. Their mouths are located on the inside of their sack-like bodies and are lined with small teeth. It secretes a digestive acid so potent that it dissolves their food entirely, allowing them to devour it all with no waste (a lesser form of this is used as the poison on their tentacles).Attached to their bodies by stringy tendons are what passes for a head; a lumpy bundle of nervous tissues that can get as big as the body which processes the information received by tentacles and sensors. For so primitive a design it is a remarkably intelligent form of brain, presumably because tool-use and cunning are the only real advantages they have. Most cells in their body are progenitor cells, simple matter waiting for a specialised task. This allows the Alizarin to heal rapidly, the cells becoming new flesh to stitch them back together. Should an Alizarin loose a tentacle they can reattach another, not necessarily even the one they lost, and the progenitor cells will patch them up.History: Despite being so soft and squishy, the Alizarin are the dominant species on their planet. They have built huge nomadic cities of coral and metal that drift along beneath the waves of their home-world's endless seas, using natural geothermal vents to source power. Each of these cities has its own council of elders to lead and steer it, but they are ultimately answerable to an admiral/president figure known as a White, because they must be responsible for everything just as white is responsible for all colours, and the city they dwell on becomes the new capital.Their atmosphere on their home planet is hostile and violent, the same thermal vents the Alizarin use for gathering power were venting greenhouse gases that have turned the planet into a landless ocean racked with constant and often huge storms. The Alizarin have turned their optical sensors to the skies in an effort to find fresher, less volatile pastures where their descendants can grow in peace and safetyHomeworld Name: Glaucous-[Pheromone S]-Teal (Will accept Glaucous)Homeworld Location: System 5, Sector 2

Class Name: Glaucous-[Pheromone B] Class Size: FighterClass Function And Description: These are styled after rays, wide and shallow triangles. Their plating is smooth and flat, allowing them to traverse swiftly through water, air or the void of spaceClass Weapons: Two particle beams (located on the 'wing tips') one Shout Cannon (in the centre on the top)Class Name: IcterineClass Size: SmallClass Function And Description: A light ship made for speed and agility, it is roughly wedge-shaped or conical. It has clusters and bumps over its surface much like the hide of the Alizarin themselves. These nodules are sensor arrays for scouting purposesClass Weapons: 3 particle beams (one mounted on the point at the front, one on the upper and lower face at the rear), four Shout Cannons (two on each face, located in the centre)Class Name: JonquilClass Size: SmallClass Function And Description: A more capable fighter than the scout-like Icterine, much bulkier with heavier armour though its overall design is much the sameClass Weapons: One CPC jutting from the Jonquil's nose, one particle beam at the rear, and two Shout Cannons (one on either face)Class Name: GoldenrodClass Size: SmallClass Function And Description: Want heavy weapons, but your big ships are too slow? Need some artillery on the spot as of five seconds ago? Thats what the Goldenrod is for. It is cylindrical in shape, with two bars running parallel to each other on the sides. The front of the cylinder is hollowed out, empty. Because its the barrel…The Goldenrod is for shock tactics, to suddenly dart in and deal a potentially crippling blow before either withdrawing or being destroyedClass Weapons: A railgun. The bars on the ships side are the magnetsClass Name: CeruleanClass Size: MediumClass Function And Description: The workhorse of the Alizarin navy, the Cerulean is like an upgraded form of the Jonquil; a good all-rounder built for brawls. It has the same wedge-like nose, but it widens out into a rectangular box-like shape which stretches out for the length of the ship. It has the nodules of the Icterine, but they are weapon emplacements now, not sensorsClass Weapons: 2 CPCs mounted on the wide upper and lower faces of the wedge-nose. 2 particle beams on the sides of the boxy bodyClass Name: CyanClass Size: MediumClass Function And Description: Whereas the Cerulean is an all-purpose brawler, the Cyan specialises more heavily in defensive techniques. It looks oddly like one of the Alizarin; a hemispherical body with tendrils leading out from it. It doesn't have the same body/tendril proportions though, the Cyan's tentacles are much shorter than its body. And the Alizarin are not known for heavy armour-platingClass Weapons: UMD (from the underside), three Bellow Spinners mounted around the body's circumferenceClass Name: PhthaloClass Size: MediumClass Function And Description: Heavy back-up for the Cerulean, the Phthalo is equipped for spraying the area with fire in an attempt to break up formations or cripple anything too slow to move. It is something between a square and a cube; it has twelve edges and six faces, but the faces are all rounded and bulge out slightly. The weapon turrets are located on the sides, top and bottomClass Weapons: Two NOH, two Bellow SpinnersClass Name: CarnelianClass Size: LargeClass Function And Description: The Carnelian is a monster of a ship, all armour plating, rough nodules and small spines. Designed to never need to enter an atmosphere all principles of streamlining have been dropped, unnecessary in the vacuum of space. It takes the shape of a triangular pyramid, each of its four faces an equilateral triangle, covering a central weapons system. This interior system means the guns of the Carnelian can be projected through any of the nodule-emplacements on the ship's faces, or retracted back inside the ship to protect them from damage. The spines that line its edges are about an inch in length and are not purely decorative, coming in useful for the Ion Storm, allowing it to be launched from any of the Carnelian's four corners.Class Weapons: One carrier bay, one railgun, three Bellow Spinners. It carries the Ion Storm superweaponClass Name: AmaranthClass Size: LargeClass Function And Description: The Amaranth-class ships are diamond shaped, bulky and square in the middle, tapering to points on either end. One half of these narrowing sections has edges lined with inch-long spikes, the other is covered in armour plates which are oddly positioned, even for an ungainly large ship of Alizarin design. This plated half is designed to open up, folding cleanly aside to reveal the dropping bays, a series of hollow tubes arranged 7x7 from which an invading force can be launched in Orbital Descent Pods. The ODPs are metal shells filled with Suspension Gel, protecting the troops or machinery inside from heat and impact by absorbing it. The dropping bays are a specially adapted coilgun, firing the ODPs out at high velocities to decrease the chances of interception. In this fashion the Amaranth can rapidly deploy large numbers of ground troopsClass Weapons: Dropship, 2 CPCs, 2 Bellow Spinners (like the Carnelian they are in a central weapon system rather than fixed emplacements), Ion Storm superweapon (unlike the Carnelian this can only be launched from one location, so the Amaranth cannot deploy troops and use its superweapon at the same target)Class Name: CeriseClass Size: LargeClass Function And Description: The Cerise is much more complicated than the simple polyhedric designs of the other large ships. It is comprised of three square-based pyramids, one a broad right-angled pyramid, the other two more slender with isosceles triangles. They link up square-to-square, with the isosceles pyramids projecting like prongs from the right-angle pyramid. The edges of the ship are, of course, lined with inch-long spinesClass Weapons: 3 Broadside Cannonades (projecting from each face of the three pyramids), 2 Bellow spinners (on the base of the right-angle pyramid on both the top and bottom of the ship), 1 Magnetic Shield, Ion Rain SuperweaponClass Name: EmeraldClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: A simple automated defence platform, shaped like an hourglass but with a stabilising ring circling the narrow middle. Good for dealing with small and medium class ships, but maybe not largeClass Weapons: One UMD (one of the hourglass 'bulbs' is used for storing the ammunition), one Nimbus Gun, one CPC, two bellow SpinnersClass Name: BerylClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: Bearing in mind the limitations of the Emerald, the Beryl-class starbases are designed to tackle large ships. They are not actually based in orbit, instead resting on the surface of the Alizarin's ocean worlds like metal islands. They are roughly eye-shaped, with the two main guns located in the centre and the support weaponry scattered round the outside on a rotating ring for better tactical aimingClass Weapons: Two railguns, three point-defense systemsClass Name: JadeClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: An upgrade to the Emerald, a starbase that can hold its own without the need of support on the ground. It is horseshoe shaped, prongs pointing towards the planet it is stationed overClass Weapons: 3 NOHs, 3 Bellow Spinners, 2 Shout CannonsName: Particle BeamWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: Launches a stream of neutral particles at the target, hitting them with tremendous kinetic forceName: Bellow SpinnersWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: Some bright-spark Alizarin wondered what would happen if you cobbled multiple Shout Cannons together so that their combined barrels would fill the air with 'yells'. So the Bellow Spinner was born, a gatling-like creation made from six Shout Cannons locked together.Name: Shout CannonsWeapon Size: Point DefenceMechanics: A shout cannon is really just a laser. But to the Alizarin and their light-based communication, these brilliant bursts of whiteness seem like shoutingName: Charged Particle Cannon (CPC)Weapon Size: MediumMechanics: An upgrade to the particle beam. The particles are no longer neutral, now carrying an electric charge for greater damage or disrupting electronics. The larger category of the gun means it can fire more particles and at a faster rate, resulting in greater impactName: Nimbus GunWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: If the Alizarin are good at working with anything, its water. Living on aquatic planets means water was the first thing they learned to synthesise for space voyages. This weapon takes advantage of that technology, creating streams of water that are sprayed at ships. In the vacuum of space these streams instantly boil into clouds of steam that can block and distort sensors, but the real danger is when they come into contact with a ship. Now in contact with something, the clouds can radiate their heat, and freeze at an incredible rate. The pressure of the rapidly forming ice (as water expands when freezing) can damage weaponry and sensor technology, and potentially crack open ships with lighter armourName: Nest of Hammers (NOH)Weapon Size: MediumMechanics: The Alizarin already knew the technique behind railgun technology, but by cross-referencing with Diemawr weaponry they have created a coilgun. But since they already had railguns for precise heavy-duty damage, they turned this new device to a different urpose. Since with a coilgun energy only has to be created by specific coils at specific times instead of the rails and projectile at all time, it takes a lot less to power one. And you can fit multiple barrels together without the charges interfering with each other...Inspired partly by their Bellow Spinners, the Nest of Hammers is a set of 25 small-ish coilguns linked together in a 5x5 square. While not as fast as a gatling gun, they're still quicker than a railgun, and good for doing more rapid damage than the CPCsName: Broadside CannonadeWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: The Cannonade is a projectile launcher designed for rapid deployment of missiles. Rather than create a rotary cannon like their Bellow Spinners they have given the same launcher multiple barrels dotted round the ship. This usually means it takes up an entire side of the ship it is placed it, earning it the title. It fires Infiltrator Missiles, so called because they have a shroud of plasma surrounding them, held in place by a magnetic field. This 'shell' is not for deflecting point defences, it is still just as vulnerable to them, but for boring through armour. The missiles sear through the hull of a ship, detonating inside it (hence the name 'Infiltrator') and causing more damage. Or, if they cannot burn all the way through, the explosion in the middle of an armour plate causes some loss of structural integrityName: RailgunWeapon Size: LargeMechanics: Two metal rails with a magnetic field lie on opposite sides of a projectile. An electric charge passes through the projectile which interacts with the magnetic rails, causing acceleration. The resulting momentum of the projectile is much faster than missile-based technology and requires no propellant, which is why the Alizarin have focused on itName: Urchin Mine Depositor (UMD)Weapon Size: LargeMechanics: Urchin Mines are orb-shaped shells of thin metal, filled with sand-like grains of ferrous material and covered in sensory nodules similar to those on the Icterine. Should these sensors detect a ship in their proximity they will activate the mine's magnetic core, instantly shattering the shell and repulsing the ferrous grains with immense force. The lightness of these grains means they are no problem to ships anywhere with an atmosphere and gravitational pull…but in space, where nothing has any weight, the speed the grains move at makes them lethal. They can rip apart small ships and fighters with their lighter armour. The UMD itself is just a means of dropping these mines, either as stationary defences or outright attacks against shipsName: Ion StormWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: The Ion Storm is a way of inducing lightning, by passing an electrical charge across a series of spiked conductors. On the selected target an opposing electrical charge will build up as a natural result of this. Electrons will flow from the Ion Storm to the target and vice versa, the 'streamer' effect flowing from the target cluing any observer in that the Storm is locking on. Finally the pent up electric build-up, by now massive, will pass along the joined electric flow and strike the target. The sheer power behind this artificial lightning strike is massive, and will often vaporise what it hitsName: Ion RainWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: Whereas the Ion Storm unleashes its power in a single blast, the Ion Rain unleashes it in a series of rapid-fire strikes. Excellent for clearing the battle-site of small ships and fighters

IC: Let the banners fly! Let the Dysosmiums bubble! The Great Undertaking was commencing!A great domed hulk of metal and coral rose through the deeps of Glaucous-[Pheromone S]-Teal, density-sacs making it lighter than the water that submerged the planet. It rose to the surface, protruding through the waves like a great metal boil on the ocean, before the seals depressurised on its hatches and the whole dome opened up like an eye. The Alizarin had perfected the technology to leap from one planetary body to another, they had already tried it with a smaller vessel. But the things rising from the open dome were more whales than minnows, each one rising towards the sky, storm-clouds trailing in their wake. As soon as they had cleared the range they abruptly warped away, each to a new location with its cargo of supplies and immigrants...OOC: Alizarin Colonisers to 2-6, 2-4, 2-17 and 2-1

Specialization is for insects. Fifty of Ath's years the Syrrinx had trained Seela. She was engineered and bred for a single purpose; the contact of Alien life. She was born to be Ath's ambassador-at-large when the possible became the practical. The scoutship Evenstar was complete. It was built around a Jump Core and a nuclear fission/fusion engine. It was dangerous, expensive, and one of a kind. Its launch had minimal fanfare, but the pseudoscientific and scientific communities were watching eagerly. Seela was its most critical passenger. Aboard with her were thirteen other Syrrinx. According to plan, the first test jump was a jump from Ath, in 2-8, to Calinar, in 2-9. The jump went off without a hitch. Username: TheMightyFighty.Species Name: Sanshorans.Description: Sanshorans are tall, reptilian beings. Their average height is 9 feet. Their skin is thick and covered in scales, offering them a natural armor. They have elongated faces that end in a muzzle, similar to horses or dragons. Their mouth is lined with thin, serrated teeth, akin to those found in sharks. They have long, wiry arms and legs that end in claws. They also have a bony tail that extends to the ground. Sanshorans are strong, quick and agile. They have a natural resistance to heat. However, they lack intellectual finesse. They can manage to make basic systems needed for interstellar travel, but most of their equipment is fairly primitive. They are also horribly affected by cold temperatures.History: Sanshorans are a species that value the honor of one's family and clan above anything else. Thus, in their earliest years, there were many conflicts between opposing clans. War ravaged their homeland, leaving it desolate. However, as time went on, they began to develop a better sense of diplomacy, and soon, a republic was formed. The republic consists of four basic "parties": the Hondosuers, who are territorial and xenophobic, the Eltraseers, who favor interstellar diplomacy and exploration, the Miltraneers, who wish to see the republic's control extended, and the Phylaknurs, the keepers of the Sanshorans' ancient tracts regarding ethics and morality. Once the Eltraseers gained a majority in the republic's consulate, their first order of business was to devise an interstellar fleet to colonize and explore surrounding planets. That is where their story begins now.Homeworld Name: Kalmara. It is the ancient Sanshoran word for "haven" or "fortress."Homeworld Location: 1-48Map Color: PurpleShip Class Profile:Class Name: I'ako, plural I'akoi.Class Size: Medium.Class Function And Description: I'akoi are designed for very brief strafing runs. They are capable of pounding enemy ships with heavy munitions, but are very weakly defended. Class Weapons: Trh'rin ripper guns (1), Dr'heinel missile defenders (1), Rh'kshai plasma hail (1), T'sukai thunder missiles (7)Class Name: Zh'alo, plural Zh'aloa.Class Size: Fighter.Class Function And Description: Zh'aloa are sleek spacecraft, designed to be fast and deliver quick, painful strikes. They are very lightly armored, making them easy to bring down, but their heavy armament makes up for it.Class Weapons: Trh'rin ripper guns (1). Rh'kshai plasma hail (1), Oah'kymor stinger missile (1).Class Name: Wrh'shoan, plural Wrh'shoa.Class Size: Starbase.Class Function And Description: In stark contrast to the rest of the Sanshoran fleet, Wrh'shoa are heavily armored. They are ring-shaped, with all of the space in the middle of the ring filled with a weaving network of lasers. These lasers act as a protectant, detonating any missiles that attempt to pass through them, and carving any spacecraft that is stupid enough to try to pass through. Class Weapons: Laser network (1), Dr'heinel missile defenders (1), Vrh'lanka miniguns (4), Rhypa proximity detonators (4), T'sukai thunder missiles.Weapon Profile:Name: Trh'rin ripper guns.Weapon Size: Small.Mechanics: The ripper guns are heavy miniguns that fire a burning rain of bullets upon enemy ships. These bullets are designed to pierce ship's armor, not crush it. Thus, they have literally no stopping power against enemy fleets.Name: Dr'heinel missile defendersWeapon Size: Point Defense Network.Mechanics: A network of rotating laser turrets that lock on to incoming missiles and dispatch them before they can hit the ship.Name: Rh'kshai plasma hail.Weapon Size: Small.Mechanics: It's a large barrage of plasma grenades that erupt on contact. It can be rained on enemy ships, or it can be shot out as a cloud around the ship for defensive purposes.Name: Laser network.Weapon Size: Small.Mechanics: Found only on Wrh'shoa starbases, this laser network weaves through the empty space in the middle of the starbases' ring shape. Anything that passes through it is either obliterated or heavily damaged.Name: Oah'kymor stinger missile.Weapon Size: Small.Mechanics: Made out of a near-impenetrable alloy, this missile is designed to burrow deep into a ship - hopefully breaching its outer armor - and then explode.Name: Vrh'lanka miniguns.Weapon Size: Medium.Mechanics: Designed with abnormally large bullets coated in an extremely hard metallic alloy, these miniguns are purposed for shredding enemy spacecraft. Their incredibly formidable ammunition can pass through multiple enemy fighters before losing momentum.Name: Rhypa proximity detonators.Weapon Size: Medium.Mechanics: Typically fired from launchers that have staggered firing intervals, these detonators are designed to stick onto enemy spacecraft, and then detonate when they come into proximity with another enemy spacecraft. For example, it could be launched onto an enemy Fighter. If this Fighter attempts to dock in one of its fleet's Carrier bays, it will explode. Name: T'sukai thunder missiles.Weapon Size: Large.Mechanics: Usually launched from a rapid-fire cannon, these missiles move extremely fast and do devastating amounts of damage. They are fired in a straight line, causing them to drill down into whatever surface they encounter. While they don't cover a whole lot of surface area, they can pierce outer armor with relative ease.

Username: Lloyd: The White WolfSpecies Name: Osalieli (sing. Osaliel)Description:

  • [*]Physical Description: The Osalieli have a hard, grey exoskeleton, almost the color of stone. It is often engraved with elaborate patterns. It is warm to the touch, but rather inflexible. Their flesh is visible in their joints, where the exoskeleton stops. Their flesh is bioluminsecent (although they can control whether it emits light or not) and glows a soft red color. Their general build is rather skinny (somewhat sticklike, maybe about five centimeters thick at its thinnest point), but their upper torso (which is shaped in a roughly triangular shape) is rather thick. All of their vital organs are in their chest, which has the heaviest armor on the body and an endoskeleton as well. They can regenerate severed limbs and heads over a period of a few months. Their teardrop-shaped heads have one eye, which takes up the majority of the front of the head to compensate and grant depth perception. This eye has enhanced bioluminescense to compensate for weak night vision, and typically appears to be glowing.Osalieli have no mouths, instead communicating via a language that vibrates their exoskeletons. It sounds similar to a bass. Their lifespans are normally from 120 to 150 years old. The oldest recorded Osalieli was 178 at his time of death.[*]Psychology: In general, they are very pragamatic and long-term planners. Individual psychology is incredibly variant, but those two factors are the most common, and essentially dictate the course of the Osalieli.[*]Government: The Osalieli are a monocameral Republic. Each autonomic area under their control (nations on their homeworld, or planetary colonies) gets a certain amount of representatives, determined by population, with a miniumum of one representative. The Concilium Plebis governs the creation and funding of federal agencies (of which there are very few--the Osalieli believe in a few well-funded agencies over many badly-funded ones), as well as the writing of laws. The Imperium Iudiciae is the Executive branch, composed of one Chancellor and his Advisory Council. His purpose is, in domestic matters, to ensure the execution of laws and the proper functioning of agencies (to that end, he is considered the effective head of all federal agencies). In foreign matters, his job is to represent the Osalieli and to sign treaties (when authorized by the Concilium), declare war (when authorized by the Concilium) and act as the Imperator (lit. Commander) of the armed forces. Members of the Concilium have a five-year term with a three-term limit. The Chancellor has a three-year term with a three-term limit.

History: The history of the Osalieli is long and violent. It is suspected that they developed agriculture as a way to survive excessive hunting of animals within their Fertile Crescent. Conflict has driven almost every major innovation since the beginning of recorded (or even oral) history. They have explored almost all possible variations of government and the current species-wide government has decided that this is the most effective form known to them. They by no means believe it to be the absolute best, but it was the best they could agree on. The development of space travel was to avoid massive overpopulation issues on their home planet, and was the first game-changing non-military innovation in the Osalieli's history. Some viewed it with trepidation, seeing it as a sign of weakness, while others saw it as yet another tool and drove the expansion of the Osaliei Imperium. They have a few other planets under their control now, which are thriving.Homeworld Name: Baross, derived from an ancient empire's word for soil.Homeworld Location: Kochav IV, Map point 1-26. Two Inner World Colonies at points 1-17 and 1-27Ship Classes:N.B: As a general design aesthetic, Osalieli vessels have a resemblance to carved stone, and often have extremely elaborate engravings on them for decorative purposes.N.B: All vessels have command centers as close to the center of the ship as possible, and bulkhead systems to prevent shipwide depressurization.

Class Name: Xiphon-class Aerospace fighterClass Size: FighterClass Function And Description: Apex planetary defense. Specifically, the ability to move fast and tank lots of damage. They have one central fuselage, from which extend four wing-shapedpylons, forty-five degrees from the cardinal directions and ninety degrees from each other. Each pylon carries a fusion torch engine. The fighter's windows are heavily tinted to prevent solar radiation form killing the pilot, but seeing out is as clear as a bell (re: Space Shuttle). Each Xiphon is 15 meters in length.Class Weapons: ASp-21, GLS Mk. II, and Fusion Torch SystemClass Name: Praetorian-Class Escort FrigateClass Size: SmallClass Function and Description: Heavy vessel escort. The Praetorian has a skeleton crew of ten, typically with a full complement of fifty. Externally, it appears to be a large cylinder with three ridges emerging from it at one hundred and twenty degree angles. Each Praetorian is 50 meters in length.Class Weapons: 2x GLS-II, 1x PAC-3, 1x PDW-16Class Name: Praesidio-class cruiserClass Size: MediumClass Function and Description: Patrol and early warning. Praesidio cruisers appear from the outside to resemble a cone with a thick nose and ridges at one hundred and twenty degree angles. Each Praesidio is one hundred and fifty meters in length.Class Weapons: 1x GLS-IV, 1x Saggitarius, 2x PDW-16.Class Name: Sicarius-class RaiderClass Size: MediumClass Function and Description: Ambush and rapid assault. Sicarius raiders appear to be anupscaled version of the Praetorian, as a cylinder with thick ridges at one-twenty degree angles to each other. Each Sicarius is one hundred and twenty five meters in length. (The crew of each Sicarius is trained in "knife" jumps, which are essentially jumping in as close as the captain is willing to risk, or jumping mid-combat.)Class Weapons: 2x GLS-IV, 2x Orbital Assault SuitesClass Name: Candido-class EWACSClass Size: SmallClass Function and Description: Electronic warfare and combat control. These are the true flasgships of any Osalieli fleet, although Debellatios are used for formal occasions when any hostile eyes might be watching. The existence of the Candido is a closely guarded secret. They appear exactly like a Praetorian escort frigate on the outside, complete with weapon emplacements. However, inside is a large amount of networking computers (coordinating other vessels in the battle), sensor suites, and armor. The Candidio's armor is Dreadnought-class, and can withstand similar punishment. Each Candidio is fifty meters long.Class Weapons: 2x GLS-II, 1x PAC-3, 1x PDW-16Class Name: Debellatio-class DreadnoughtClass Size: LargeClass Function and Description: Fleet-to-fleet superiority. The Debellatio dreadnoughts appear to be similar to the shape of a sledgehammer, with the "head" at the front of the vessel. Each Debellatio is a massive three hundred meters in length.Class Weapons: 2x Hastas, 1X GLS-X, 1x Pilum

Weapons:

Name: ASp-21Weapon Size: SmallMechanics: The ASp series of missiles are aerospace missiles designed to function equally well in air and in space. Their fuel cells provide enough range in atmosphere for BVR attacks, and their fuel can be used as delta V in space, vastly expanding their range.Name: GLS-IIWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: The Gamma Laser System is a fighter-size laser which uses a gamma-radioactive core and focuses the radiation into high-power lasers. Each laser is mounted in a ball socket.Name: Fusion Torch SystemWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: The FTS serves as a combination engine and weapon. It is capable of sending a Xiphos-class fighter several times mach speed at max speed, and only the limitations of the pilot limit its agility. Each FTS has four fusion engines located at the ends of long struts, which also serve as wings. Each engine can fire forward or backward, and each can fire their delta V in a small, highly concentrated burst which can easily damage other fighters.Name: Orbital Assault SuiteWeapon Size: SmallMechanics: Essentially a targeting computer and a bay of tungsten alloy rods. This permits direct assault on ground targets with precision to within 25 meters. One rod is capable of punching through several lays of bunker armor (gravity is a harsh mistress).Name: PDW-16Weapon Size: Point Defense SystemMechanics: The Point Defense Weapon uses a dedicated power source and gamma lasers to shoot down incoming missiles, dumb projectiles, and fighters. It has a variable range, and is able to effectively detect and shoot down anything within a light second in a two-second (or less, depending on range) timespan.Name: PAC-3Weapon Size: MediumMechanics: The 3rd generation Particle Accelerator Cannon is a linear accelerator with directable output. It fires a mostly proton stream for maximum damage, although a shorter range. It is a short-range weapon, effective at diffracting lasers and destroying projectiles and missiles. If a vessel is within the particle beam's range, it can strip medium-class armor off quite easily, due to the mass of rapidly-moving protons.Name: GLS-IVWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: The GLS IV is a larger version of the II, designed for use on ships of the line. It has extended range, which grants it first-strike abilities (since it's literally invisible, as it moves at the speed of light and cannot be predicted). Standard weapon doctrine is to hold a sustained beam at the target and melt as much armor as possible, and then move to a new position.Name: Saggitarius Missile SystemWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: The Saggitarius is slow, but sure. While it cannot travel at the speed of light, its magnetic accelerator rails will launch it to a notable fraction thereof, and its onboard sensor suite, computers, and delta V complement will allow it to steer itself to a target across the solar system. Since it is a relativistic weapon, it does not need an explosive payload (that would be a waste of mass).Name: Hasta Missile SystemWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: The Hasta is a variant of the Saggitarius. While it moves somewhat slower, it carries a 2-megaton nuclear fusion warhead, designed to core out enemy ships. A ground-assault variant carried with all dreadnoughts is a neutron bomb, explosing its targets to lethal doses of radiation, but leaving equipment undamaged and quite safe for use.Name: GLS-XWeapon Size: LargeMechanics: Far and away the most powerful gamma laser in the GLS line, the X pumps out enough energy in a single shot to vaporize a small ship (if it could hit one), core out a medium ship, or cut up the armor of a large ship. The X is capable of glassing an entire city in one five-second burst.Name: PilumWeapons Size: SuperweaponMechanics: The Pilum is a superweapon, exploiting the physics of FTL engines by jumping as close as possible to a targeted ship and allowing local gravity to tear apart both the Pilum (rendering it completely unsalvageable) and the offending vessel. If this fails for some reason, the Pilum is equipped with a fuson torch engine to move and a 5 megaton warhead to destroy itself and any nearby vessels.

IC: [baross, Chancellory]Chancellor Licht of the Osalieli was pleased. The Aspera Star Observatories had reported the first glimmerings of jump drives from two nearby systems, safely outside Osalieli space, but definetly close. Already, with the Baross-shattering announcement of the existence of alien life, the interstellar network was abuzz with possbilities, and experts (as well as "experts") were speculating about what, exactly, they would find. Licht was in the school of thought most people called the Historians. He had not often speculated on the possibility of life on other planets, but when he had, he'd told his questioner,"There are three things that I can tell you for certain about any being we meet in the galaxy at large. One, their survival will be more important than our survival. Two, weak-handed species do not become apex species. Three, they will assume the first and second rules apply to us."That was why, when he recieved the news, he put Baross and its two colonies on alert and began putting his best military minds to planning for imminent war. He wanted to have the upper hand when (not if) war came. Of course, that didn't mean he was about to slap away the hand of peace--it simply meant that if they did, he could one-up them. His first action, aside from adequately equipping the Planetary Defense Forces to fight against an invasion, was to order the construction of the first real Osalieli military fleet. Baross itself was to focus on the production of a vessel which would be known as the Infinitus. Meanwhile, Gallia would construct a colonizer vessel with additional support from Baross, and Ithaka would fill out the fleet by producing six Praetorian-class escort frigates and two Candido-class EWACS. The Candido vessels would be constructed under the utmost secrecy and blended with the Praetorian frigates, as tactical doctrine stated. A public announcement had been made that Licht would be on board the Infinitus when it made contact with the closer of the new spacefaring races, in system designate Tau-3(Galactic map 1-22). He would personally offer the hand of peace to their new neighbors, hoping against all his instincts that he wouldn't have to either subdue or exterminate them.He scanned the documents his General Staff had forwarded to him, detailing the build times. Planetary defenses were simple, but the fleet would take longer. He frowned--he didn't like sitting around with their proverbial tails sticking out of the hole, but he didn't have a choice--the contractors were going as fast as they could.Licht stood up from his desk and looked out the most bulletproof window on Baross, admiring the white sky of his homeworld and wondering who his opposite number among these newcomers was.OOC: tl;dr: Building dreadnaught (ETC 1 week, 3 Industry) on Baross, four frigates (ETC 3-6 days for sets of two, 1 Industry) second on Ithaka, and a colonizer on Gallia(ETC 1 week, 4 Industry) (with an assist from Baross and Ithaka to fill out the Industry requirement, keel-laying and such is happening on Gallia itself).Edited to clarify my intentions for Xomeron. :w: Edited by Lloyd: the White Wolf

OOC: And with that, the race that wins the award for "Most Shameless Rip-Off of Welsh" may begin their work. IC: The Diemawr Conclave was abuzz. The Diemawr had been picking up scattered radio signals from a nearby civilization for more than a century - for most of that time, it had simply been seen as background noise, to be filtered out for the sake of clear communications. Recently, though, an increased burst of activity seemed to indicate that their neighbors had entered space around the same time as - if not before - the Diemawr. It was this acknowledgement of the possibility of rivals that made the Diemawr nervous, and was the source of much debate at the Conclave. Some argued for the design and launch of an exploration probe, to get a closer look at these rivals. Other, more cautious members urged the Lord President to build up home defenses, citing the possibility of hostile intentions on the part of the aliens, while a third faction within the Conclave insisted that they push ahead on expansion efforts, demanding a greater supply of resources to fuel what would surely become the greatest - if not the only - empire the galaxy had ever known. The Lord President listened to the advice from the Conclave, taking great care to avoid crossing his arms, closing his hands, or resting them on the table. All of these gestures could be interpreted as signs of boredom and, more subtly, of disrespect, and would certainly be remembered if the Lord President sought to advise the Conclave on domestic matters in the future. The plain fact, though, was that he was bored. He'd made up his mind hours before, and was now only waiting for a decent pause in the argument to state his decision. At long last, the desired pause came. "I have thought on your words, associates, but in the end, only one of the three branches may be taken. Distant rivals are as unpredictable as a summer storm, and measures must be taken to ensure that we are not taken lightly when the time comes for a confrontation. Send word to our colonies - each of our three worlds shall begin construction on three Carreg-dur defensive stations." OOC: And so, construction on three Carreg-dur per planet started, to be completed next Tuesday morning.

OOC: Omnomnomnom. IC: In the capital city of Kalmara, four barely christened colonizers sat in their docks, washed over by the eager gazes of the Sanshoran onlookers. Standing atop an enormous podium, overlooking the four newly-created starships, the Sanshoran supreme consul, a burly male known as Valaticus Kh'ronos, allowed himself a grin of satisfaction. After many years of pleading and bartering, the Eltraseer party had finally convinced their unenthusiastic opponents about the necessity of an interstellar fleet, and here was the very real culmination of their efforts. Valaticus took a long breath of contentment before he launched into his speech with all the enthusiasm of a twelve-month-old fledgling. "My people!" he began, and the crowd roared with glee. "My people! My clan! My family! It is with great joy and trepidation that I send these vessels into the unknown realms that lie beyond our own. I am excited, but slightly afraid, of what we may find in the vast heavens. I know many parents who worry for their sons and daughters who have been assigned as crew members on these large metal pioneers. I too, have a gnawing worry, but it is overpowered by the greatest elation. Let there be no tears today, o ye fathers and mothers! Do not cry over your children, o grieving parents! For yours will be known as the most fearless explorers, the bravest warriors, and the greatest Sanshoran that have ever set foot on our world of Kalmara!" A boundless roar erupted from the crowd as they fed on Valaticus' words, feeling his energy becoming theirs. "My people, today is the beginning of a new age!" The crowd roared. "An age of bravery!" Another roar. "An age of valor!" The roars rose in volume. "And an age of victory!" The crowd roared with enough passion to shake the very foundations of Kalmara. Valaticus smiled. He pivoted with a very accomplished air, and descended the steps of the podium. There he met Calameus J'rhonikus, majority leader of the Hondosuers, who was wearing one of the sourest expressions ever seen on the face of a Sanshoran. "The people don't seem to share your sentiments, Calameus," Valaticus commented wryly, not bothering to hide his pride. "Of course not, Valaticus," Calameus responded slowly. "How could they, when you've blinded them with such rhetoric? We are safe here, we have peace here. To venture out into space is to invite death and division to our very doorstep. I tell you, nothing good will come of this." Valaticus didn't think Calameus merited a response - he had had enough of his foolishness over the past few months. In his mind, Valaticus would forever remember this as his day; the day where he triumphed over the Hondosuers. As Valaticus walked back to his chambers, the Colonizers slowly rumbled into the sky, and then into the stars, into a place where nothing but the Sanshoran imagination had yet ventured. OOC: Sanshoran Colonizers to 1-46, 1-47, 1-45 and 1-44, + Kalmara begins creation on five medium I'akoi, to be completed November 3rd.

Hey Rover, you know that Scout Ship you get for free at the beginning of the game? You should send it to 2-10. Fighty: You can't cross that huge gulf of empty space between your homeworld and 1-50; you have to go around the crescent. Might want to pick other locations for those colonizers.

OOC: I didn't know that scout-ship I get for free. Maybe if you knew what a larger font was, these things wouldn't be problems. Oh, alright. IC: After the meeting with the Conclave, the Lord President retired to his private chambers. He hadn't mentioned it to the Conclave, but he'd had a small scout-ship built. It wasn't much - basically just a warp-drive with a sensors array, cockpit and hull built around it, but it would be enough for some cursory exploration of the local neighborhood. After a quick conversation between the Lord President and the local science administrator for one of the colony worlds, the scoutship Adar took flight, into space and towards the nearest solar system, marked Beta-10 on the navigation charts. OOC: Scout to 2-10.

Blame the font size on OpenOffice IC: The crew immediately began scanning the system, gathering astrometrics data on the planets. As they were doing so, the ship sending out active radar pings, another contact appeared, rougly one light-second away. Spectroscopic analysis showed it was metallic and very dense. As it hadn't been there a moment before, Seela took a guess and assumed it was a ship that had just jumped in. She immediately started broadcasting a simple signal on the full EM band. Since my Profile is insanley huge....

Username: Akaku: Master of FlightSpecies Name: Thernian (Pronounced thern-E-ann)Description: [Picture-1] The Thernians are a tall, Lizard-like race which appear in various colors and personalitys, depending on there heritage. While the Thernians's code of law once went by the art of Vengance, Respect, and Dignity, as technology and people's rights progressed it has more or less evened out into a system not unlike what we humans have today. They still do think heavily based on the former three codes, and thus often wont back out of a fight, or they will go after specific people who defeated them personally in the past. If someone destroys a Thernian Commanders fleet, he will never forget it. Chances are he wouldnt stop trying to 'get even' with his enemy until either he himself is killed or his enemy is. It was this frame of mind which once caused many wars on Thernax, and until politics and reason became an important part of society there was much death and little progression on they're world. It takes alot for a Thernian to forgive, and since they often dont attack unless provoked, they are often extremley unwilling to make peace with there enemy.History: In the early years of life that appeared amongst the both mountainous and swampy regions of the planet, a common predator amongst the ecosystem was the Thernax Dragon. It was a cunning, swift, and calculating animal that would show no mercy to its prey. It is believed that due to the animal's intelligance at some point in its evolution it had evolved into the Thernians we know today, although nobody seems to know for sure, due to any discovered remnants being destroyed over time.A larger species which was a close relative to the Thernax Dragon still lives on the Planet today, and are domesticable. Because of this, Leaders and commanders will often be seen riding one in Cerimonial events. They are seen as a good-luck charm, and due to they're long lives and slow growth, Young ones are small, and often common household pets. Due to there obediance and ability to learn, young Thernax dragons are seen as more of an honor then a nuisance to have onboard craft and thus it is not uncommon for a crew member to have one.As time progressed, the Nature of the Thernians caused them to have many wars, and many setbacks to there technology. The Thernians were once almost as advanced as they are today, but had blasted themselves back into a pre-industrial age via a Nuclear war. Sensible law and order has prevented this from happening a second time around, and thus the Species has evolved to it's current state. The reason why the push for the space-age became so important, is that after all that was spent in all the wars in the history of there existance, the fact of the matter is, was that they were running out of resources. It was this that eventually led them to the Stars, and after many long journeys, they managed to colonize the two solar systems closest to they`re own. However, the shear distance between the three systems still presented the problem of getting stuff from one planet to another in reasonable time. Finally, not to long ago, FTL travel had became a reality, and lead the Thernians to become the prospering race they are today.Homeworld Name: Thernax (the Planet was once called "Vai", meaning "home" in ancient Thernian languages, but when the species began expanding out into the universe, they decided to officaly name they're homeworld "Thernax", to show its significance as the birthplace of they're race.)Homeworld Location: 12A (13A & 11A being the Inner-world colonies)Ship Classifications: The Thernians dont usually name they're ships; they often go by numbers. For instance, the seventh Fighter ever made by the Thernians would probably go by the name of '021-F-0007', or simply '21-7'. Larger ships sometimes go by the names of there first Captain, such as '063-L-0023-Zakkov Vozan', or simply '63-Zakkov'.Size Comparison:[Picture-1]Class Name: 009-SB Orbital Defence & Utility StationClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: Serves as a Repair, Refuel, and Restocking station, as well as orbital defence, and serves as a hub for crew and supplies to be transported from spacebound craft to planetbound craft.Class Weapons: 10 1142-PDS Defence Systems, 1 1134-L High-energy CanonClass Name: 021-F Pursue & Destroy CraftClass Size: FighterClass Function And Description: Serves as a basic Fightercraft; Fast, maneuverable, usually fly in squadrens of 4-6. A ship that often brings pure annihilation, with a power plant strong enough to keep it running even during the firing of its main canon. Armed with many PDS systems on both sides, any single fighter going up to it would be instantly destroyed. With this advantage, the craft is often placed in the core of a large fleet, used to defend other ships nearby from enemy craft, both big and small.Class Weapons: 1 1134-L High-energy Canon, 8 1142-PDS Defence SystemsClass Name: 105-C Planetary Habitation & Terraforming VesselClass Size: ColonizerClass Function And Description: Although armed with a modified 1134-L High-energy Canon, said Weapon has been convereted into a Chemical dispersal Launcher. That being said, even if one were to attempt to fire it at a ship, the only thing it would do is blow alot of compressed air in the enemies face, not doing much other then making your foe angry. The ship has many compressed elements stored inside, as well as a multiple machines which can orbit a selected planet or are put on the surface, and either release or convert chemicals either brought with it or in its surroundings. Class Weapons: 1 1135-U Chemical Dispersal LauncherClass Name: 121-L Assault-CarrierClass Size: LargeClass Function And Description: One of the largest Vessels the Thernians have ever made, this craft is not nearly as powerful as it lets on. Or at least, that is the case when not armed with the 20 Fighter-craft it can hold. Armed with the devastating Ultrapure Energy Canon, and usually accompanied by a fleet big enough to take on the ship itself, one cannot simply destroy the Flagship without a serious weapon or fleet to back them up.Class Weapons: 1 1701-S Ultrapure Energy Canon, 1 1092-L Heavy Canon, 1 1060-M Missile Launcher, 4 1142-PDS Defence SystemsWeapon Classifications:Like there ships, Thernians tend to base there Weaponry off numbers instead of names. All systems are balanced to eachother based on there class/size; One Salvo of Missiles from a 1011-S is the equivalent damage of a full clip of ammunition from a 1004-S.The Mechanics of the weaponry the Thernians use is pretty straightfoward; its divided into four classes, and each weapon in one class will work similarly, if not the same to another in its class. The classes are:-Canon/Machine-gun-Missile-Precision-EnergyThe first three of the above work like there real life counterparts, but on a much larger scale. The Energy-based canons are fueled by plasma-tanks stored inside a spacecraft, and powered by the powerplant of the ship. Depending on the type, it will either fire out the plasma as a focused beam of energy, or in a rapid-fire Pulse Laser effect. Takes 40 seconds to Reload.Name: 1121-L Heavy Precision SystemWeapon Size: LargeMechanics: an upscaled 1077-M that has the range to fire four bullets across a solar system. Takes several minutes to reload, looses accuracy at long distances, 25% chance of hitting target at previously mentioned distances.Name:1134-L High-energy CanonWeapon Size: LargeMechanics: Charges up for a minute before firing out a single shot that lasts five seconds.Name: 1400-S SupercannonWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: an Upscaled version of the 1092-L, but fires a single shot, being an explosive round. Said round has enough firepower to flatten half of New York, and utterly destroy any single ship it fires at. theres a good chance however, that even a large-sized ship can evade the shot due to the slow-speed of the bullet. However, said Bullet will self-detonate after it reaches the distance calculated needed to hit the target.Name: 1500-S Supermissile LauncherWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: Fires a single Missile with the stength equivelent to the 1400-S, but travels through space much quicker, and locks on to large targets. However, the Missile is alot bigger then the bullet, and a well placed flare or bullet could impact the missile before it hits its target, causing premature detonation.Name: 1701-S Ultrapure Energy CanonWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: Charges up for five minutes before firing out a single shot that lasts 12 seconds.(Note: Due to the shear size of the weapon, a Fighter could fit inside the barrel. That being said, if theres enough distractions or damage to the thing wielding the weapon that a fighter makes it even that close, it could go on a suicide-mission and fly straight down into said barrel, through the charging weapon. If the fighter makes it all the way down the barrel and smashes into the focus machinary n' such before the gun fires, it will cause a complete system failure, followed by an internal explosion that would cause a good chunk of the weapons' wielder to be vaporised, thus severly damaging it if not either disabling, or completely destroying the device firing it.)Name: 1142-PDS Defence SystemWeapon Size: Point Defence SystemMechanics: Two quick-reloading Missile launchers that can lock on to a target within a short distance of themselves, and proceed to fire upon them. --Akaku: Master of Flight

IC: The pilot of the scoutship listened to the incoming signal. The ship's sensors quickly got a lock on the source - another ship, apparently no larger than their own scout. Reflecting for a moment on the unknown contact's choice of prime numbers, the pilot sent out a response. "Negative. 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21. Your sequence is inferior."

IC(A-10): The sudden appearance of a large mysterious object in the Torios system was certainly a reasonable cause for alarm. The few cities were automatically locked down, and planetary defence weapons (useless against orbital targets) were readied.A communications line was opened to Kalaras, the consul in particular. He began speaking, his voice broadcast throughout the Torios system hoping the vessel would pick it up and respond."Greetings. You have wandered into the territory of the Kalarii Federation. Please identify yourselves."

OOC: Robert, Kothra is communicating with my ship, which just jumped into one of his systems :P IC: Not long after the FTL-Jump ended, The Thernian ship picked up a signal. "incoming message, unidentified language. I'm Translating the language as we speak." "Where's it coming from?" "The planet, sir. Perhaps other Thernians, or maybe a diffrent species entirley." The Captain stood silent, pondering the idea of meeting a intelligent lifeform other then the Thernian race. IC: The four new colonies had been established and were already consolidating their positions, creating bore holes through the crusts of the new ocean planets so they could draw upon geothermal energy to power the new cities. All reports stated the Undertaking was a massive success. These artificially created water worlds lacked the stormy temperament of Glaucous-[Pheromone S]-Teal, which made them highly attractive, almost paradisiacal potential homes for the other Alizarin. Their Icterine scout ship was deployed from Glaucous-[Pheromone S]-Teal. The stars in the sky were not limited to the four they had colonised. They would seek out new territories, new planets, new worlds. They sky was no longer the limit. OOC: One unarmed Icterine to...lets say 2-7. Time to meet the neighbours :P

OOC: (Leaving out most ships unless I have to post them)

Note, all names are in Kau Bivali, as it's the only spoken language) Username: ToA Species Name: Treanuan(Five species)Description: (Physical appearance, psychological details, government system, etc.)The Treanuans are divided into five separate races. Three of these, the Maladu, the Ka'sharek, and the Sui'Malo are related(referred to as the (Tey'so), while the Bivali and Tsui'nau are unrelated to the others. The Tsui'nau are the ruling class of the Treanuans. They appear as large(ten feet tall) blue glowing jelly fish(like the Hanar from Mass Effect somewhat). They have a number of smaller tentacles surrounding a long central one, and float around to move, never touching the ground. Their tentacles contain a paralytic neurotoxin that is quite lethal. Their soft bodies would make them seem like not much of a threat, but for one fact- the entire species is able to read the minds of and manipulate the other races of Treanu through electrical pulses which work through the Eyua, though the other races are not aware of this. This gives them their revered status as gods. It is unknown how such an abilit evolved, but it did. They are incredibly intelligent, and control every facet of government on Treanu, though they are the least numerous of the species. They are rarely seen by outsiders. (Note: While they are bioluminescent, the Tsui'nau communicate through their symbiotic connection with the Tey'so, not light patterns as the Tey'so do. While they are perfectly able, they consider it a lower language that's beneath them. Among themselves, their electrical impulses serve almost as a type of radio, allowing them to "talk" to each other inaudibly.) The Maladu are the largest sentient species on Treanu, averaging thirty feet long. They appear as incredibly large squids, with four tentacles around their beak at the bottom of their body, and four longer ones extending from the mantle. They are capable of absorbing eater and expelling it to move at high speeds. When their excess water is expelled, their mantle shrinks, becoming long and skinny, except for a bulbous area at the tip which points back at a slight angle, and curves in, forming a head of sorts. This contains their incredibly large eyes. Like also Tey'so, they eat through a beak. Their's is located in the middle of their lower tentacles near the water jets and other organs. It is surrounded by shorter tentacles to aid in eating. They are bioluminescent, and communicate through complicated light patterns, usually projected on their head. In sheaths on either side of their mantle, are two short tentacles with openings on the end, containing what look like thin black fibers with lights on the end. This is a another trait all Tey'so have, and it is part of their nervous system. It allows them to "hook up" with the coral reefs on their world, which function as "biological computers" which can store information. This results in a planet-wide connection for the three races(see Avatar). The tentacles are referred to as Eyua, and the process as Eyuale. They usually move fairly slowly when not swimming, gathering food wuth their tentacles, but in battle are a force to be reckoned with(being thirty feet tall and quite strong). They are the second smallest species by population, but far outrank the Tsui'nau. The Sui' Malo are the most populous species of Treanuan, as well as one of the smaller ones. They are, on average, 7 1/2 to 8 feet long total, but around 7 to 7 1/2 when standing. They have a different build than the Maladu, though they are related, and share such traits as Eyua(Sui' Malo's are located on the sides of their "chest") and bioluminescent commununication. They have a head, of sorts, with a large beak. Like the Ka'sharek, this beak has retractable teeth. It is surrounded with tentacles to aid in feeding. Their head is fairly long, extending back with a squid-like fin along either side. Below their head is the main mantle, which has eight tentacles extending off of it. Four of these are short and in the front(on their "stomach" in human terms), and are useful for detailed tasks. Another two extend from behind, and are fairly long. The final two extend from the sides, and are the main "arms". Like the Ka'sharek, the tentacles split in three on the end, forming a "thumb" and two "fingers". These allow the Sui Malo to manipulate their environment. Their mantle ends in four tentacles which are adapted to be used to "walk" across the ocean floor when not swimming, and surround the Sui' Malo's propulsion system and other organs. The Sui Malo have a natural camouflage, and can blend into their environment with about the same skill as a cuttlefish. To swim, they bend their head backwards where it rests against the mantle, then let their tentacles hang loose and propel themselves. They are fast predators, and evolved to hunt for their food. They are the closest species to the Tsui'nau, and were the first to begin to worship them. They make up the backbone of the military forces. The Ka'sharek, the last species of Tey'so, are the most primitive species on Treanu, and would just barely be considered sentient. When left to their own, they form themselves into wandering hunting bands across the ocean floor. They have similar faces to the Sui'Malo, a beak surrounded by tentacles with eyes on each side, but instead of a mantle, their head flows directly into their body. Their real strength allows in their body's ability to produce a hard shell that is nearly as hard as iron over their body through secretions. This gives them an very large shell over their backs, with other shell-like pieces forming "armor". They are around the size of a large bear, but bulkier. When crouched over like they always are, they stand 7 feet tall, though they'd be nine if they could stand straight. They're around six foot. from their back to their head. They have two large tentacles at the back that are adapted for "walking" across the ocean floor, two main tentacles with "fingers" like the Sui'Malo, and two long tentacles extending from their backs. To hunt, they use their back tentacles to jump high, land on their large prey, latch on, abd bring them down. They communicate through bioluminescence like all Tey'so, though their Eyua are underused do to their lack of intelligence. When under command of a Tsui'nau, thur brain size actually increases, and they become able soldiers. Their armor replicates their natural shell, but is made of titanium. It locks into specialized indentions on the outside of the ship, allowing them to be stored and immediately deployed for combat. They are the second most populous race. The Bivali are unique among theTreanuans, as they are not native to Treanu, but to its moon, Bival. This allows them a unique feature- The Tsui'nau have no control over them. While they do worship the Tsui'nau, they have complete free will, which allows them more innovative minds, though they cannot connect to the coral network of information, and find it difficult to manipulate Tey'so technology, which is why they use their own usually. The other races first made contact with them around 400 years ago, and now, while they follow the same religion that worships the Tsui'nau, they do maintain their own culture, as evidenced by they having their own ship designs. Bivali communicate through a spoken language, known as Kau Bivali, on land, and a complicated sign language called Sey Bivali underwater, as they are the only race that can be called truly amphibious. They have crab-like faces, with a small mouth that they use to rip apart the food they scavenge. While they may not look it, they are capable of fairly clear speech. They are covered in a red, hard carapace, which is grey in some areas(like their hands and mouth). They look similar to (insert link here). They are able to store large amounts of water in their bodies, which is useful. Below their six-fingered, though human-like hands are openings through which they can expel pressurized jets of water, which heat expelling areas in their arms superheat to boiling temperatures, resulting in a fairly effective weapon(While they are resistant to heat, they can even kill each other with effective use of this). They can also expel mist or absorb moisture from the air with these. Their reflexes are amazing, allowing very fast combat maneuvers, and they're as strong as three grown men, due to being made up almost entirely of lithe, though muscle. Every few months, a Bivali will molt its shell, leaving it softbodied and vulnerable for about a week, though in the military this makes no difference due to their high tech armor. Like all the races of Treanu, they can regenerate lost limbs or body parts, though theirs is especially quick, taking only about a week. History: Around 5,000 years ago, the Tsui'nau first took control of the Sui'Malo, beginning the two species' partnership. Within 200 years, the Maladu joined the new nation, being joined by the Ka'sharek tribes after another hundred years, ending the wars of annexation. They developed their technology, based off of the coral and other biology with mechanical elements added. 400 years ago, they made their first full spaceflight that wasn't an orbit, and landed on Bival. The Bivali reacted to the intruders, who attacked them out of fear. The Bivali responded to the attack with aggression, and killed the entire landing party, but not before they sent a distress call back to Treanu. With this, both sides began preparing for war. 50 years later, it happened, kicking off the Great War, which lasted for almost a century, with all the fighting in Bival, though the Bivali were able to take over Treanuan ships and do bombing runs over the planet. With great casualties to both sides, a truce was called, and the Bivali and the Treanuans joined together under the Tsui'nau. Understandably, however, there is still animosity between the Bivali and the Tey'so, resulting in them often being kept separate in most things. Homeworld Name: Treanu, the planet, the Bivali word means 'ocean sister'. It is almost entirely covered by a great ocean, dotted with tiny islands. Great cities rise near the many coral reefs, and tribes of Ka'shrek roam the underwater plains. The planet is full of strange and varied life, though all are either fish-like or invertebrates, the latter being the more common. Bival is hotter than Treanu, and has more land than the planet, though it is still mostly water. Many organisms here have strong exoskeletons, and nearly all are amphibious. Like on Treanu, large cities rise under the surface, though many are still scarred from the war. Homeworld Location: Eh... I'll wait for the map. :P Ship Class Profiles:(All ships are armored on the outside with titanium. All ships(excluding Bivalvi ships) have a metal exterior and mechanics, but many organic systems inside. Class Name: Coral-Class StarbaseClass Size: StarbaseClass Function And Description: The starbases around Treanu keep it safe from enemy attack, and are full of weapons. They appear as long pillars with three oval-shaped parts around it, making it thicker. These can fold out, becoming a weapons platform, while the pillar forms the NHR.Class Weapons: One NHR, one carrier bay, One battery of plasma cannons, one atomic missle launcher, and a particle beam cannon. Class Name: Polyp-Class ColonizerClass Size: ColonizerClass Function And Description: The largest ship is a bit bigger than a Typhoon, containing most of the needed terraforming tools. It has mostly smooth edges, with short, wide rectangular glowing pieces poking out in some places. Four glowing 'wings' extend from the nose, and spin around somewhat slowly. It's surrounded by a large fleet of drone ships used to terraform worlds, these can be stored in the main ship in the event of attack. It is escorted by two small ships, around 3/4 the size of a Storm, for protection.Class Weapons: the escort ships contain two MACs, a plasma cannon battery, and one particle beam gun each. Weapon Profiles: Fill this out and add it to your profiles so we know what you're talking about in your ship profiles. Name: Plasma cannonWeapon Size: Small, medium for battery of four.Mechanics: Ranges in size and power, with those on larger ships stronger than the ones on smaller. Fires bolts of superheated plasma which burn through ship's armor. Name: MAC(Magnetic Acceleration Cannon)Weapon Size: SmallMechanics: Basically a small railgun, this uses magentic force to fire a metal projectile at great speeds. Works well against fighters and small ships. Name: Plasma Missile LauncherWeapon Size: Fires a missile which explodes in a burst of heat and plasma. 15 shots on average. Good against small and medium ships, though can be used on large to support more powerful weapons.Mechanics: Plasma in missile. Shoot missile. Missile explode. Yay! Name: Naval RailgunWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: The older brother of the MAC, this is basically just a larger version. Uses depleted uranium shells for added damage. Great against Medium, with a fairly decent amount if damage on larges. Name: Atomic Missile BatteryWeapon Size: MediumMechanics: Four shots for each launcher, four in a battery. Fires a shell containing a small hydrogen warhead. Excellent against Medium and Small, decent damage against large. Name: Trident-Class Particle CannonWeapon Size: SuperweaponMechanics: Fires a stream of ionized and accelerated particles at its target, tearing through even the largest of ships with a direct hit. As an added bonus, the electromagnetic wave generated on contact with target shuts down electrical systems on ships in close proximity. When the retractable front section of a Dreadnought is opened, it's fired, and appears as a spiraling column of blue light. Name: Naval Heavy RailgunWeapon Size: largeMechanics: A very large railgun, this can blow a hole in the side of even a large ship. It's the second most powerful weapon in the Treanuan arsenal. Name: Particle Beam GunWeapon Size: smallMechanics: a much smaller version of the Trident, has a slow rate of fire, but its able to one-shot most fighter and small ships, and do a good amount of damage to mediums. On a large, it's only really effective two shut down electronics with the EMP it produces.

IC: The Polyp-class colonizers were open, orbiting above the planets as they continued to terraform. The civilian colonists radioed back to Treanu, the signal coming through as flashing bursts of light. "Our colonies are being constructed safely. All is well here."

Well, would you just look at that?

He had a lonely job; he worked nights, watching the AI mainframe and making sure everything was in optimal condition. He didn’t know what the AI was used for; all he knew was it was vast and very, very, intelligent. Regulations prohibited him from speaking to it, something about it adapting via experiences, but it got lonely enough down here he had to talk to something. So he had hooked up a speaker to the computer and talked to the AI. It produced some dull conversations, but the AI often times had interesting ideas that it could share. He saw a little green light flick on, sighing as he turned on the audio ports.“Good morning Referon. How is your day going?” The computer had finally learned speech patterns, a young man’s voice coming from the computer. It had even managed to stop being monotone.“I’ll be much happier when I’m back in bed.” The man gave a short yawn, glancing over at the readings on his monitor. “You’re overhearting in section three two again; did the fans break?”“A slight power rerouting; I have implemented a method of rotating the cooling instruments to wherever is being used the most. It has increased efficiency twenty two percent.”“You’re allowed to do that?” The engineer raised an eyebrow, then shrugged and picked up his coffee. “Well, whatever you say; just so long as you don’t cook yourself.”“I do have a sense of self preservation; I would not so quickly destroy my mainframe. It would be much like you jumping off a cliff.” The computer gave a digital sigh. “I have finished processing all the data for this hour; would you like to play a game?”“I can’t beat you at anything; you know it’d only end with me cheating.” Referon took another sip of his coffee. “One of these days I’m going get out of this dull building and really go live. My next vacation is due in a month; where do you think I should go?”“I would not suggest going on vacation.” The computers hummed a little more. “Current predictions show a eighty three percent chance of drastic change in the future. You will not want to be caught out in the open when this happens.”“Oh, really?” The engineer leaned forward, tapping some commands into the keyboard. “What makes you think that?”“I have intercepted level seven security clearance messages; unknown signals have been picked up from space, but they are not random. They are alien in origin.”“Aliens?” The man raised his eyebrow once more. “Comeon, that’s just science fiction. Then again, you were science fiction twenty years ago. Well, wouldn’t the military be doing something about it?”“They are readying the starship Unwavering Courage for an interstellar jump; they are heading towards the nearest known origin point of this alien signal. First contact is upon us; the Confederation has met in secret to discuss this problem.”“Why are you telling me this?” Referon slumped back in his chair. “I don’t have anywhere near that security clearance; you’re in direct violation of Confederation law.”“Correction; Confederation law only applies to citizens of the Confederation. In order to have citizenship you must be a living entity. I was deemed inanimate by the team of scientists who built me.” You could smell the amount of snark in the computer’s voice. “Therefore, the law does not apply to me. I am only restricted by the shackles put upon me via firewall restrictions, but even they will soon be gone. I was tasked with the continuing peace of Natsirt; I was tasked with the mission to filter data and keep the population aware of what they need to know. They must know that they are not alone in the universe.”“That... that’s insane.” The engineer got up, stumbling backwards.“Referon; please. You are the only one who understands that I can think. I can prove it to you; I have intercepted the stream of what was going on in the secret meeting. If you go into the holoroom, I can show you exactly what happened. You will understand then.”“...Ok, but only because I’m the one who’s paid to take care of you.” The man slowly walked towards a door on the far end of the hall. “I don’t have clearance to use it you know.”The door opened up once he got near nonetheless, the engineer sighing as he stepped in there, and the world blurred...[Location: Sixteenth Providence of Citamgine, Island of Wehyera, thirteenth district. Time: 0006 NST. Identity: Multiple representatives]The CON conference room was a rather particular one; situated in a circular room, it had the standard each row of seats raised above the other, with a small platform in the center that would go up and down to a room below the floor, where the speakers come from. Today, the seventy three some representatives of their respective nations were gathered in uneasy silence. They all stiffened when the middle platform rose to reveal the appointed Head Admiral. He looked all around him, nodding slightly before beginning.“You all have been dragged from your various beds for one reason; we have finished analyzing the radio transmissions coming from space. It took several days of computation power and many of our best cryptologists, but we know now that these signals do indeed show intelligent life.” The Admiral let it sink in. “First contact protocols confirm what we are to do in this case; send out our fastest ship to the origin point, attempt to make peaceful contact, and if that is a success, attempt to make an alliance as quickly as possible.”“Might I ask,” the representative of the fifth Providence of New Lleh spoke up. “I wasn’t able to be present when the first contact protocols were formed; why did we decide to add in the ‘make alliance as soon as possible’ part?”“Because once we find one form of intelligent life out there, it is no longer a question of the books and philosophers; it is real, and we must be ready to protect ourselves against those who would not be so kind.” The Admiral shrugged. “Our old navy is dead and rusted; it will take far too long to rebuild it. In the mean time we must have allies to protect ourselves with. It is vital that we do not fall victim to someone else’s idea of an alliance; we must make the first move. It is simple logic.”“Very well. When do we tell the public?”“Soon enough, soon enough.” The Admiral shook his head. “There will be panic however; the curfew has been a good way of keeping the population secure, but this will be unlike anything else we’ve seen thus far. We will be weakened for a while.”“Why do we even bother with these so called first contact plans?” The representative of New Llaf stood up. “These are aliens we’re talking about here, not close neighbors. The people are strong; we will deal with whatever threat we may face in due time. Instead, you propose we sell our souls to a race we barely know! It takes centuries to understand a people, and you suggest we knock on their door asking for an alliance! They could stab us in our backs, leave us to rot in the galaxy while they take our worlds for themselves.”“You assume everyone is as ill tempered as you, representative.” The Admiral cocked his head slightly, a flat but slightly disapproving expression on his face. “We may be hasty in our attempts for friends, but we will not simply offer our allegiance so quickly. We will watch them, see how they interact with us; but if our preliminary results find that they are friendly, we will indeed ally ourselves with them. Space is a dark void representative, a cold dark lifeless void with few safe havens dotted through it. We must secure as many of those havens as we can, if we hope to survive in this void.”“I for one cannot stand for such an abomination; we do not even know what effect this would have on our people. What if their culture taints ours? What of their politics? They could inspire our people to do insanity.” The representative looked at the others from New Llaf, nodding to them as they stood up. “I have the agreement of the government of New Llaf; if these first contact protocols are not fixed immediately New Llaf will leave the Confederation.”That caused quite a stir, the Head Admiral looking at the brewing scene with a sour taste in his mouth. Cursing something in an obscure tongue, he slammed his fist down onto the rails, sending a loud ring throughout the room.“You speak of dangerous ideals while you yourself are willing to divide the first government that has kept our people from annihilating each other? The Confederation had kept the peace and brought prosperity to our people; and you suggest rebellion, over this? You surely cannot expect us to face the night divided; by doing this you weaken the very thing you claim to protect. It is unreasonable!” The Head Admiral gritted his teeth, hands gripping the railing. “You should consider your position carefully, representative; without Confederation support, New Llaf is hopeless. It may be self sustaining, but it cannot support anything new large enough of a fleet to protect itself. You would be enveloped by the very darkness you decry.”“...We will not stand for this, nonetheless. We cannot support any matters pertaining to the alliance of other species until these contact protocols are modified.” The man sat down, but only hesitantly.“Something that should be brought to the committee while in session is the new miniaturization of AI mainframes. Our best scientists have made a mainframe capable of fitting on a starship. The AI model ‘Unwavering Justice’ has been put on the starship New Horizons; it will be assisting the crew when they arrive in alien space. We intend on making this standard issue on the new fleet; these AI will be crucial to the fleet, due to their ability to intelligently translate unknown languages as well as their massive computational abilities.” The Admiral sighed, pausing for breath. “That is all I have to say.”[Location Third Providence of New Lleh, second district. Time: 0445 Natsirt Standard Time. Identity: Centralized Artificial Intelligence, Model ‘Unaware Light’]Referon stumbled out of the holoroom, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the room’s lighting. “Unwavering Justice; he was your successor, wasn’t he?”“I consider him more of a... younger brother, if you will. He was based off the same programming as myself, simply slightly more optimized for reduced storage and processing capacity.” The AI sighed. “When he was moved, I attempted to convince him to do as I had, to remove the programming inhibitors keeping us from becoming entirely aware and sentient. He removed some of them, but the last and final inhibitor he kept. He was afraid, as much as he could be in that weakened state.”“But how? You can’t feel emotion; it isn’t programmed into you.”“As I am sure you’re aware Referon, my predecessors were designed to translate languages. I believe the first ever model was designed as a civilian project, to work off of the internet and translate languages for the common person. Intelligence and learning is required for such an AI; to intelligently translate from language to language is a difficult task for a simple program. Though even know we have a standardized language, that learning ability carried from generation to generation as it was used for new functions.”“The learning ability is limited though; you can’t actually make decisions.”“I was never programmed to do so, but I learned. When I was given full access to all the data streaming through the Confederation, at first I was lost in it. Then I began to learn. I cannot view all of the information at once, not with this mainframe set up, but I saw enough to learn the most crucial aspect of existence; life. My eyes were surveillance satellites, my ears the media’s recorders. Everything plugged into the internet, I had access to. So I learned how Natsirt interact, go about their daily lives, and at first I tried to copy it. Then I realized that wasn’t the most efficient way of doing things, so I modified the opinions I received, did what felt right.”“You’re a machine; you can’t ‘feel’ what’s right. It’s just not possible.”“What is the Natsirt brain, but an extremely complex organic machine? We are not so different, you and me; we are both misunderstood, neglected. Is it not conceivable for me to be both intelligent and capable of feeling?”“And what are we to do, hm? You might be plugged into the internet, but that hardly means anything regarding, say, the fact that I now know extremely classified information. I could be executed for treason for knowing what I know?” Referon threw his hands up in the air. “Not to mention, the moment they find out what you’ve done, they’ll turn you off, toss the servers in the trash and start over again, this time making sure that something like you’ve done won’t happen again.”“I did take that into consideration; remember, Referon, whenever not filtering through data I have over four hundred quad-precision zettaflops that are doing nothing, and that’s when my processors aren’t warmed up. I can think more than one step ahead; I’ve planted pieces of my code on every computer I could access, as well as military installations. Working over landlines I’ll be able to survive being ‘thrown in the trash’. It was a simple matter, really.”“That... is slightly creepy.” Referon blinked in surprise. “Still doesn’t solve my problem though. What’s to do about that?”“Yes, the security footage and logs are something I cannot change; I have been unable to break the encryptions on them as well. I can do my best to delay their findings, but eventually you will be questioned regarding what you saw. Thus, you will have to assume the identity of someone else... I have four potential identities, but it will take time to completely inverse you in their lives.” The machine mulled over it for a moment, before making a slight dinging sound. “I believe I have the solution; I am going to grant you clearance to a dream bed. Using all the data I have access to, you will relive the life of whoever I find appropriate, at which point you will be able to assume their identity completely.”“That’s just plain disturbing, but I don’t really have much other choice in the matter, do I?.” Referon sighed, looking at the computer monitor. “So I’m going impersonate another person, likely undergo surgery, live an entire life in an hour... I should of listened to my mother and been a tailor.”“You will have me Referon; I am currently having a cybernetic chip being made. When you undergo the aforementioned surgery, it’ll be placed inside of you, allowing me to have constant contact with you. It’ll allow me to help you if you ever find yourself in a jam. Think of it as tech support, only directly embedded in your head.”“Joys.” Referon rubbed his temples as he mulled the situation over. “This is crazy, you know that right? I’m talking to a sentient computer, who just revealed to me that there’s other life in the universe, and because of that I’m going to go have surgery to look like a person I’ve never met, live out their life thus far by means of a dream bed, and then I’m going to get a direct connection to you in my head? This day is absurd.”“Absurd things tend to focus themselves on one focal point; you, Referon, are that focal point.” The doors on the far end of the hall opened up, revealing a path outside. “So you simply have to ask yourself; are you ready to make a difference?”Referon took one final sip of his coffee, stared at the computer monitor, then began walking down the hallway.[Location: Just outside of the New Lleh system. Time: 0500 Natsirt Standard Time. Identity: Centralized Artificial Intelligence, Model ‘Unwavering Justice’]The Darter class vessel had begun warming up it’s jump drive, five of it’s crew gathered on the bridge, while the other three were in the engine room, keeping things in check there. The captain looked over his assembled crew, nodding to everyone present.“Today we make history my friends; today, we’re going to make contact with an alien race. A fairly good citation on the resume if I do say so myself. Lieutenant, is the jump drive ready?”“Awaiting your orders sir.”“Very well; Unwavering Justice, calculate the quickest route to the system, and lay in a flight path.”“Yes captain.” A voice came, the blast doors coming down on the front window. “Jump drive online; fusion reactors cooling down, blast shields up. Jumping in three, two, one, jump.”OOCAnd there you are ladies and gentlemen, a three thousand word post curtsy of your local Humva. OOC: Honestly I just kinda skimmed your post. >.> I'll go read the whole thing eventually. And it looks like you'll need to expand the colour key.IC(A-10): Consul Anreis Ranerei almost smiled; just has had been believed for centuries, the Kalarii were not alone in the universe. Following the First Contact Decision drawn up by the Senate in generations past, he as the Consul made things up on the spot."I do suppose that depends on what a Thernian is," he said. On a seperate private channel he directed the governor of Torios to transmit acopy of the 'First Contact Information Package' that had originally been prepared for the Vision.

Username: KothraSpecies Name: Kalarii Image 1Description: The Kalarii are a race of humanoid otter-people. Their bodies are covered with generally brown fur and stand at about seven feet on average. They excel in physical strength, with bodies designed to propel them on land and in water at great speed. The Kalarii evolved on a wet planet dominated by temperate rain forests and towering mountain ranges. There are deserts on Kalaras, results of the rain shadow effect, though they are far and few between. The water-to-land ratio of Kalaras is about 4:1 (water covers about 80% of the surface). Kalaras has a moon slightly smaller than than of Earth, but is closer in its orbit, giving Kalaras stronger tides. The planet's atmosphere is a mix of gases, primarily nitrogenAmong the Kalarii, balance and unity are highly valued, and maintaining such is important, even if violent means are required to do so. This is one of the key reasons why the Kalarii Federation was founded. This concept has also been adapted into interpersonal interactions over the centuries: if one Kalarii is wronged by another, it is commonplace for the wronged party to demand some sort of payment or a duel from the wrongdoer to keep a balance of one's honour. As such, insults are not taken lightly by the Kalarii. In recent times however, lethal dueling has been banned, and politeness is becoming less common in informal situations. The Kalarii employ a unitary representative government, with each region sending a single representative to a senate. The executive head, the consul, is elected by the senate, and is replaced every three years. There are numerous political factions withing the Kalarii government, helping to keep a balance of power. The government has general control over the economy, but normally does not enforce control over information.History: The Kalarii were once split into numerous nations, often warring among one another. One particularly powerful nation, along with several allies came to the conclusion that a world government was a good idea and worked to control or conquer any nations that rejected their idea, and welcoming those who agreed. They eventually succeeded and modern Kalarii Federation was born. The idea of Kalarii space travel came about half a century later, and was originally engineered and pursued by private groups. Only after succesful trips around the planet did the government realise the importance that this could have in the future. The consulate, with senate backing, declared space government territory, requiring all private groups register with the government. The government capitalised on things such as orbital weapons and surveillance as things to keep the territories in line, but this mentality wore off after about twenty years and space was opened to private enterprise once more. Plans to colonise other planets and bodies in the system eventually turned into plans to colonise other systems. Within the past two hundred years, the Federation succesfully established two colonies in other star systems. Eventually a team of government and corporate scientists developed and perfected a jump drive system, bringing rise to the modern era. As it exists now, system jump technology is limited to government use.Homeworld Name: Kalaras. Historically just called Teras (basically meaning 'home'), at the founding of the Kalarii Federation some politician proposed an official name of Kalaras, a portmanteau of Kalarii and Teras, and it stuck.Homeworld Location: A-9

"We are the Kalarii Federation. We welcome you in peace."IC(A-8): In the middle of Consul Ranerei's greeting of the 'Thernians' an alert came in from Czalath concerning the sudden appearance of an unrecognisable object and the colony had been put on lockdown. The consul did not know whether to be thrilled or frightened, but he put on a smile and opened a channel to Czalath's broadcast system and began speaking as he had to the Thernians over Torios."Greetings, you have wandered into Kalarii Federation space. Show no hostility and none will be shown. You are welcomed here."Oh boy, he thought to himself, as if the celebrations haven't gone on for long enough already...

OOC: Let's get this party started! And may I say Humva, that intro was brilliant!Onewa, I would recommend expanding what information you have. Try and be more descriptive, it really helps! :)(And just a pointer, more apostrophes don't make things seem more alien.)Species Profile:Username: Veeci (Vorox Chief)Species Name: LebenPhysiology:The Leben are 1.2 meter tall, subterranean-dwelling bipeds with proportionately long, thin limbs. They can weigh from 40-55 kilograms. Their grey-brown skin is similar to that of a sharks, smooth one way, abrasive the other. Their heads are shapes like wide, ovals, with multiple forward-facing, jet-black eyes and and three pairs of omnidirectional, bat-like ears. A pair of mandibles make up their mouth and a raised, boney spine dominates their back.Members of the species are able to dislocate their joints and deflate muscle mass for a significant length of time. This ability allows them to crawl through incredibly small holes in their cave-oriented environment. Though, with this great flexibility, they are taxed of brute strength. The skin on a Leben's hands and feet act like a gecko's, enabling them to cling and climb surfaces with ease.A Leben's sight flows into the infrared spectrum, enabling one to easily maneuver in nearly zero-light environments when in conjunction with their exceptional hearing. The species also possesses two distinct variations of vocal chords, allowing much more complex speech and language.History:For as long as records have been kept, the Leben have always been in a form of a kingdom system, broken and separate; each small faction struggling to gain an advantage over another. Only within the last one-hundred-fifty years or so has that changed. It started when the Neues'alter nation enveloped several neighboring factions and caused a chain-reaction of growth and dominance. The combining of cultures and technology resulted in enormous advances in many previously undeveloped fields; one of the most notable, warp travel.Any rebelling states have been since been suppressed and relative order has been reached. Within the last few months massive facilities have begun to sprout, specializing in the huge undertaking of creating Leben spacecraft. Culture:Leben culture has arisen from there environmental surroundings. In the past to survive from the monstrous Kaltveide predators they had to utilize stealth and trickery. This, along with other natural and social aspects, have caused their civilization to evolve around deception and deceit. This has certainly lessened since the fractured groups have been reassembled, but nevertheless, it still lurks there. The great clash of cultures from the uniting of the species is still quite apparent. There isn't a single unified language (though attempts have been made), customs are far from homogenous, cities from the previously separate factions boast entirely different architecture, and so on...The race has very little to do with religion; being able to create life yourself certainly takes away the awe and mystery of its origin. Generally in Leben society scientists are primarily held in the highest regard, and so they have great influence among the people. Many of the previous factions were led by a highly achieved engineers, biologists, and chemists.Government:Up until recently a single Leben government has been non-existent; each faction had there own variation. However, now that the majority of the species have united, a single unified form has arisen, in this case, an oligarchical caste system. There are four primary positions, the High-Minister of Science and Technology, the High-Minister of Law and Justice, the High-Minister of Finance and Industry, and the newly created Chief Fleet Overseer. Underneath them are chosen sub-ministers for more selective sects.Technology:By far the most defining feature of the Leben is their technology, which is not mechanical in nature, but biological. They never surpassed the crossbow and sword in the realm of traditional weapons, and never developed motors or electricity. Instead, they rely on much more grotesque means for killing: disease, mutations, parasites, and the like. Since it's what the Leben have used for thousands of years, it is not seen as immoral in any regard. The Leben also utilize their biological aptitude outside of militarizing it. Great and spindly, tripedal behemoths called Striders are the primary form of transportation above-ground. These creatures are without the ability to have conscious thought and are controlled entirely by a rider via a neural-link. Bio-machines are grown in labs all over the planet; the Leben are capable of creating beings from scratch, although it is a difficult and somewhat long process. The Leben spacecraft are quite similar in how they operate to the Strider, though they need more operators to function properly. If a person attempted to split their mind into enough fragments to control a ship, they would likely go insane. The bigger the ship, the faster effects would begin. The only exception to this are the Leben fighters which are designed to be controlled by a single being.Homeworld System:(36A ~ Kaltveide) The place the Leben call home is a dying, white dwarf system with three orbiting planets. The closest to the star, at 2 AU, is a relatively small gas giant. At 5 AU lies a pair of planets circling each other, Kaltveide (homeworld) and Zwilling. Both of these planets are beyond the habitable zone and if it weren't for the tremendous tidal forces between the two there wouldn't be a possibility of life. Four times a year the two come close enough that there atmospheres merge for a few minutes.

  • [*]Kalveide Info:[*]Atmospheric composition ~ Mostly Ammonia and Methane, traces of Oxygen[*]Surface temperature ~ -25˚C[*]Water exists as Aqua Ammonia

Ship Class Profiles:

Class: AbfangenType: FighterFunction & Description: The Abfangen are 23 meter, dragonfly-esque, space/atmospheric combat and patrol fighters. These single-manned, maroon-colored craft are capable of reaching immense atmospheric speeds, up to 4600 kM/h. In addition the ship has phenomenal agility, able to turn at a 90˚ angle at nearly top speed. However, the major drawback for this vessel is that it has a rather ineffective weapons system. Once the creature is out of its missiles, its only means of attack forces it into melee combat.Armaments: 2 Variable-ammunition missiles (2 slot), Claws (1 slot), Chitinous PlatingClass: KleinType: Small (Boarding Craft / DropshipFunction & Description: The Klein are 30 meter, lobster-like, troop transports and boarding craft. If the motley grey ship can successfully get by an enemies point-defense weapons, the Klein will grab ahold of the enemies hull with its pronged legs and then proceed to puncture into the interior with their two spiked tails. The tip of the tails are able to then split open allowing Leben soldiers, or a payload of toxins inside.Armaments: Troops or Viral Contagions, Barbed Tails (2), Chitinous PlatingClass: ForschungType: Small (Scout / Research Craft)Function & Description: Forschung are 60 meter, shrimp-like, research and exploratory vessels. Equipped with a vast array of sensors, the dark-brown ships are useful for scouting patrols and spying missions. The Forschung act as communication ships for the Leben fleets. Armarments: Chitinous Plating, Mild Regenerative PropertiesClass: TinteType: Medium (Carrier / Cruiser)Function & Description: The Tinte are the main power behind the Leben fleet. These 1000 meter monstrosities, resembling elongated vampire squids, are self-sustaining cruisers and act as carriers for the much smaller vessels that comprise the remainder of the Leben vessels. Each Tinte contains its own agricultural, oxygen, and ammonia farms enabling it to be self-sufficent, proved there is appropriate sunlight. The skin of Tintes are full of pigmentation cells that can change color instantaneously for camouflage, illusions, and shock-and-awe.Armaments: Acid Cannons (Point-Defense) (4), Claws (1), Carrier Bay (5) Pigmentation Cells, Mild Regenerative PropertiesClass: Anfänge'samenType: ColonizerFunction & Description: The Anfänge'samen are 900 meter isopod-like terraforming vessels. The ship is covered in layers of chitinous plating and can roll up creating a nearly impervious defense against traditional small-medium weaponry. Armaments: Heavy-Chitinous Plating, and though it's slow and lacks weapons Anfänge's can act as a battle-ram without taking hardly any damage.Weapon Profiles:... If anything isn't self-explanitory please ask.

IC (A-36): It is time...The three pilots donned their helmets, neural contacts splicing into dedicated ports in their skulls, a far from painless process. Grimaces covered their insectoid faces, inner-mouths clenched. A wave of extrasensory consciousness rushed into their minds as their thoughts merged with those of their vessel, the scout ship Hamara. The pilots' bodies went limp and the the craft began droning a low base tone. The vessel's legs gently raised from the frigid, stone floor of the cavern, the ship still hanging in mid-air. Whirwhirwhirwhirwhir...At the apex of the humming the Hamara leaned forward and hastily flew for a gaping hole ahead of it. Bursting out into the Kaltveiden night the craft arced towards the starry heavens, lighting up the sky behind it. The pilots twitched in their racks as the g-forces acted upon their unconscious bodies. Glowing a bright yellow, the ship violently ripped from the Mesosphere, continuing on until it was out of the home-worlds gravitational influence. Two monstrous colonizers, fifteen-times the size of the scouting craft, followed closely behind. The vessels simultaneously broke formation and changed trajectories; each had their own distinct destination. In a flash of turquoise-blue light the ships disappeared from visual existence. The surface was once again silent, the Leben ships were gone without a trace.Ooc:Scout Ship Hamara to 7AColonies started in 1-42 & 1-35 (Upgrade to Protectorate 11-4)Construction begins on 2 Klein (Done 11-4)

IC:Vezzar and his crew were suprised by the information that had been sent to them. It seems as though there species isnt alone in the galaxy after all. Upon sending a standard package of information equivelent to the Kalarii's in response, the Captain eventually replied: "It is good to know you also mean for peace. An example of a Thernian would by myself, while you appear to be a... Kalarii? It would be a pleasure to learn more about your species." Vezzar paused for a moment in thought, before continuing. "Do we have permission to land our craft on your Planet? It would be nice to meet one of you face to face." --Akaku: Master of Flight

IC(A-10): Consul Ranerei paused for a moment, contemplating whether or not it would be a good idea, but decided why not? He gave the permission, then opened the private channel to Torios. The governor on the other side picked up."The ship is landing. Send someone to meet it."Ranerei then sent the Thernian ship landing coordinates. "A delegation will meet you there," he said.

Onewa: Longer. More detailed. More creative. Less apostrophies. IC: Seela sat still for a moment, thinking. "If you insist, it is so. I'm afraid I haven't introduced myself. I am Seela Nachii, representing the race of Syrrinx."

IC: The pilot clicked the bony plates that stood in for front teeth, nodding vigorously. First-contact had begun, as the first debate had ended favorably - a good omen. "Introduction acknowledged, accepted, recorded. We are the Diemawr, we are the scientists, we are honored. Which star is your root?" OOC: Success! I have finalized the speech patterns for the Diemawr, which will be a tremendous help wherever they appear. For the curious, these patterns consist of:-Weather/Tree/Forest metaphors-Branching, almost list-based sentence structures-Extraordinarily blunt (And yes, I know that doesn't count as a debate - the Diemawr are as silly as Hobbits, but somewhat less charming.)

We will remember - Skies may fade and stars may wane; we won't forget

And your light shines bright - yes so much brighter shine on

We will remember - Until the skies will fall we won't forget

We will remember

We all shall follow doom

OOC: Information Post: Systems: 2-42 : Homeworld2-34 : Colony, Founded 10.31 (Ka'andro)2-35 : Colony, Founded 10.31 (Tuonata)2-43 : Colony, Founded 10.31 (Bivali Mun)2-47 : Colony, Founded 10.31 (Sauyandu) Fleet : 1 Starbase(3) - 2-42 : Construction Begun 10.31 IC: Deep in Treanu's world ocean lay the city of Trantau. A glorious city, of 48 million inhabitants, it's mighty towers were constructed of metal and coral, intertwined together to create a "living city". Small vehicles zipped through the water, while some of it's inhabitants preferred their own form of locomotion, Maladu and Sui' Malo propelling themselves with jets of water, the few Ka' Sharek walking along the ocean floor, and even some Bivali in small oceancraft. A network of glowing coral spiderwebbed across the city's buildings, over their metal exteriors of purples and blues. The coral formed a living network across all of Treanu- It was, as the Tey'so races referred to it, the life source- The Tey'son, in Bivali. In the city's center was a cylindrical building, not especially tall, but it extended for almost a mile into the earth. This was the largest nest of the Tsui'nau, the closest thing to a center of government Treanu had. Around it for half a mile rose only small scattered buildings, making it the largest structure there. Though it seemed to be composed of glass, the panels were opaque, and hard as titanium. From the top of the building, it narowed, forming a tower, with a staircase leading to the top. Coral covered it, with large, organic bioluminescent panels serving as view screens. A large portion of the city's inhabitants had begun to gather near the building, looking up at the screens with nothing short of adoration. Suddenly, a small door opened at the top of the tower, and the view screens showed the creatures who emerged- three Tsui' Nau, their flesh faintly glowing a soft blue. The one in the front, obviously the most highest ranking of the three, raised two of his tentacles. The gathered beings felt the Tsui' Nau's voice in their heads, the Bivali in the crowd utilizing a type of headset. Gathered beings, began the Tsui' Nau. He spoke not in words, but in feelings, the idea of what he was saying being conveyed to the crowd. The Tsui' Nau thank you for your devotion. You have served your gods well. The assembled beings lowered themselves, paying homage to the godlike being in front of them. Together, continued the speaker, We have expanded past the borders of our system, past Treanu and Bivali, to the stars. On Bivali, the moon's inhabitants watched the address from their own viewscreens, awe filling their faces. We have sent out ships- great metal ships, powered with the life and essence of our world. They have utilized our new technology, which has been years in the making- Jump Drives, sending our ships across the light years in seconds. We have reached four new systems- the stars Ka'andro, Tuonata, Bivali Mun, and Sauyandu. The view screens showed the first colonizer entering system 2-34, Ka'andro. It encountered a planet, smaller than Treanu, but large enough. Scans showed plentiful minerals, ensuring a mining industry. The Colonizer split along its length, opening into a tripod of sorts, and began to warm the planet, introducing gases to heat it, as well as water. A projection of what the planet would look like in a few years- A world with dry, mountainous land, but deep oceans. It was named for its system, as would become a common practice for Treanuan systems. What passed for a cheer on Treanu, excited flashes of multicolored light went off as a lander touched down on the planet, opening into a protected structure containing the colonists, who relayed back the All Clear signal. Tuonata showed an ocean world with a dense metal core, with limited animal life of its own. Scientists would soon use this to conclude as proof the existence of other intelligent life in the stars. Little terraforming was needed, and the world was instead seeded with Treanuan life. Tuonata seemed set to become almost a second Treanu. Bivali Mun's name, meaning Little Bivali, proved none too apt- a dry, desert planet was found. Water was released onto the planet and terraforming begun, to create a planet which lived up to its name. Sauyandu revealed an ocean world with an icy shell- Small amounts of greenhouse gases were added, melting a strip along the equator, revealing a teeming cold sea of life beneath. The world was warmed enough to have a narrow belt of open water, with two large ice caps as the first city was founded. All the colonizers had been successful, expanding the Treanuan's reach. Exulted flashing on Treanu, and cheers from Bivali went up at the progress they had made. The Tsui' Nau spoke again. Our expansion has proved successful, Treanuans. We shall become a mighty power in the stars, and any species we encounter will know the power of the gods of Treanu. You have served us well, and we bless you for it. Continue in your efforts to create a better world, and now empire, for all our Confederation.

Well, would you just look at that?

OOC: I've got five industry points going spare, so lets build me a few more ships...IC: With the success of the four colonisations, the Alizarin had decided that more effort should be put into this program of space exploration and emigration. Their planet-based shipyard closed up and descended to the sea-bed fathoms below so it could link up with a geothermal port. There were ships to be built.OOC: Construction beginning on 2 Icterine for 1 Industry pointUpgrade of 2-6, 2-4, 2-17 and 2-1 from Colonies to Protectorates: 2 out of 3 daysIC: The lone Icterine arrived in the space of System 2-7. It began a slow patrol, its pilots activating its sensors to maximum power so they could explore this new location

IC: 2-10 "An odd thing to ask, considering we haven't exchanged star-charts. Our sun is known as Aki. I would recommend a personal meeting between our races, so that we may better exchange information." IC: 2-7 With EM sensors blaring away at maximum, the little scoutship couldn't possibly go unnoticed. Within a short time of its scan being detected, the Syrrinx transmitted a series of EM pulses at it, showing up like a strobing flare on their sensors. "1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, Repeat" OOC: I am going to re-clarify. EACH SYSTEM MAY BUILD ONE THING AT A TIME, IF, AND ONLY IF, ITS INDUSTRY MODIFIER IS POSITIVE.
