Favorite Year in Gen 1

Now that we have a complete picture of the Gen 1 progression, which year was your favorite in terms of sets and story? I still really enjoyed the underwater theme from 2007, especially the Barraki sets.

I agree with 2007. I'm not a huge fan of the Barakki, but the titans and Toa were amazing that year. I would have chosen 2008, but I didn't really like the Mistika...

My favorite year had to be 2006, really enjoyed the story and the sets

I'll have to say 2007 too. Creative sets and a lot of things going on that leads up to the big reveal the year after.

2008. It had the serious tone of the Ignition series, being a part of it, and it also had the Toa Nuva, who even though I never got to grow up with, I liked better than the other Toa teams I had heard of at the time. Plus it had the whole "final battle with the Brotherhood" setup, and the huge reveal.

 

Set wise it was pretty good too, especially in the titans and vehicles department.

Defos 2006. The Piraka were cool, the Inika were more pose-able then their Toa Hordika and Metru predecessors, Voya Nui was cool, the titans were some of the best sets out there IMO and we got Vezon (and Zaktan).

2007 and 2003. 2007 because underwater = awesome beyond compare and 2003 because of the gear functions incorporated into larger figures. Also, the Rahkshi were awesome.

2007. It was the year I started following Bionicle (newb), as well as being the year with the most story importance, save '08. 

Also the Gadunka set was pretty neat to build.

2001 due to its appealling setting and rich cast, or 2004 due to its intriguing plot and darker tone.

2001 for its nostalgic value and I just simply loved the old sets. I loved the fact you could buy toa, turaga and matoran and the varieties of masks and the rahi were top notch and actually did something for themselves

2007. I bought all the main sets and most of the titans. The theme was amazing and the fact that they got rid of uniformity was amazing.

Either 2006 or 2008. 2006 because it had some great villains in the Piraka, introduced some of my favorite characters to the storyline (Axonn and Brutaka), and had some great stories in its book. 2008 because it had some of the best web serials (FoF, DM, and MC), plus the Toa Nuva returned to the storyline, which was great storywise. Set wise could be arguable though.

And Vezon. Let's not forget Vezon, even if he was excluded from the Piraka Rap.

 For sets, I'm actually going to have to say 2015. I am REALLY digging the new sets, from what I've seen. 

 

This is so hard, because 2006 had an epic theme, 2007 had really unique sets, and 2008 had so much storyline buildup. If I had to pick, it would be 2006 though. The Inika, at that time, were amazing.

2006. Full stop. Best sets and characters and plot. The Piraka were fearsome and the Inika were just plain awesome. The All American Rejects thing was silly but Move Along fit the theme perfectly.
