Players of the Minifigures Online MMO can now enjoy the release of Dino World, including raptors and Spinosaurs - it doesn't seem you can play as a Raptor-Riding Bandido, though. Apart from that, the game seems to have been updated with Minifigures Series 12, a new level cap of 30 and a new achievement system. Check out the summary of the changes and new features of October.

I don't know what I expected from Lego's newest dinosaurs... Oh well, I've seen worse.

You mean the dinosaurs from two, almost three years ago? Because those are the ones that seem to be used in this expansion.

There seems to be at least one new one- the Dimetrodon thing. I assume there will be more than just the DINO 2010 dinosaurs.

I HATE SCORPIOS

If that blue monstrosity is supposed to be a Spinosaurus I'm going to have an aneurysm. I'd praise them for at least being up to date on the newest research and making it quadrupedal.... except it's only quadrupedal because it appears to be a horribly mangled Dimetrodon. It is also puny compared to the oversized (naked, wrist-broken) raptors.

I seriously doubt that's a Spinosaurus. (unless it's a baby, which would be a kinda random decision on Lego's part) It probably is, like you implied, a Dimetrodon. I seriously doubt Lego would actually care about what new research has lead many in the scientific community to believe. Put it this way: people STILL, after all these years, refer to the Apatosaurus as the Brontosaurus. :P In the end then, it matters more to them what is assumed among the greater populace than what is considered scientifically valid, Not to say I believe that's a good thing.

The ad thing says "Smash Raptors and Spinosaurs", which is what leads me to believe that is what they're calling a Spinosaur. It wouldn't be correct to call it a Dimetrodon, either; its neck and legs are too long, its rear legs being long enough to be digitigrade.

I realized long ago LEGO doesn't actually care about the accuracy of their dinosaurs, which is why every time a new LEGO Dino theme comes along I prep myself for disappointment. Of course, somewhere in here I'll gain the authority to knock pop culture to its knees and fix every last dinosaur portrayal in fiction. It will be a reckoning the likes of which this world has never seen.

But for now, I have to put up with these "Spinosaurs". Blech.

Honestly, the whole quadrupedal thing is a bit, well, shady atm. There are certain issues with the new centre of gravity, and even if you use that, you can still have a bipedal Spinosaurus using Andrea Cau's representation. The reason why quadrupedal gait on Spinosaurus is a bit unlikely is the lack of adaptations theropods have to support it. Especially the wrists and the shoulders, even if the weight estimate of 12 tonnes is correct, then his arms wouldn't even been able to support that massive weight. The best thing for now is to give it another year and wait for all the revisions and second studies to come in the future xD.

But yeah, you're right. I gave up on Lego and dinosaurs as well. At this point in time I can still forgive them for not going for a feathered Tyrannosaurus, as although it's quite accepted in modern science, I can see why the general public isn't ready for it. But featherless raptors, that's just a no-no ._.  And the horrible wrist breaking, ugh. It's a shame really.
