Now I'm finally nearing the end of my Nuva and Noble displays and am only missing a handful of krana too (from the common 144) I build my mask displays from bricks and plates as I don't like the gappy unfinished look of the more oft seen axle+connector framework. While I was making up plans for the krata one I decided it needed making in 3 sections (krana, kal and va) but then when I put the 3 net to each other I still didn't love it. I decided to include 8 etra mounting points to help break up the other 3 sections and now begin the daunting task of trying to fill them... So my question is, which of the rare krana are easiest to come by? Bearing in mind that I know none of them are particularly easy to score... For a set of 8 I only have 3 choices. The light purple glow in the dark set, the GPKK or the VMKK. I'm pretty sure the GPKK are the rarest of the three but I could be wrong, hence I ask here! I'm going to pinch a bit of info on these masks from Letagi's price list here at BZP. This is what it says about each set. White Metal Krana-Kal (WMKK) - $100-$200+5000 of these Krana were produced and randomly packaged with the Bohrok-Kal in 2003. They were accompanied by an info card and presented in a black velvet bag. This price is applicable if the item has all components and if the card is in mint condition, which most are not after more than ten years. WMKK were only produced in Krana Xa form. Vacuum Metal Krana-Kal (VMKK) - $100+These were prototypes for the WMKK and the SSKK. They were initially given out to Proto Squad members. They are quite difficult to find, but show up for sale on BZP every once in a while. VMKK were produced in all eight Krana variations. Grey Plastic Krana-Kal (GPKK) - $200+ (VMKK top, GPKK bottom)Like the VMKK, these were also prototypes, and were also given to Proto Squad members. They are significantly harder to find than VMKK and are thus valued higher. GPKK were produced in all eight Krana variations. Yeah I know, the WMKK won't help me but like many others I wouldn't mind owning one someday! Also interestingly the light purple KK aren't on the list at all but I've seen them several times so how come?! The list suggests that the VMKK should be the easiest to come across based on price but as is always the way with buying something you first need to find someone who is selling it! And with so many people looking for these elusive pieces I imagine the price will vary rather widely. If by any chance someone knows of any special krana up for grabs please let me know but this is not in itself a B/S/T thread so please don't move it (as seems to happen when I post this sort of thing) I'm just curious as to what people think would be the easiest set to get hold of, though the VMKK would be the best looking by far! Also why aren't the light purple ones mentioned? Maybe these are out there and people just don't realise they aren't the standard purple ones... Letagi Posted October 25, 2014 Share Posted October 25, 2014 VMKK are definitely easier to come by than GPKK, which is why GPKK are valued higher usually, but putting together a full set of eight is still very difficult. I'm pretty sure Flintsmith has been trying for several years and I think he's a little more than half way there. He actually has a couple of doubles, but last I heard he's only trading those for other VMKK that he hasn't got yet. If you give him a good enough offer he might go for it, but I wouldn't count on it. Also, surprisingly I don't think I've ever heard of the light purple Krana-Kal, but the other set you might be missing is the dark purple Krana-Va. If you're interested, I've got a few rare Krana that I'm willing to sell. I have several spare WMKK which I'd be willing to sell for $200 each. On top of that, I also have an extra SSKK, but I won't be parting with that for any less $2250 if anyone is willing to pay that. Moving to B/S/T... Seriously?... Thanks TLH, would love the SSKK but that money is unfortunatel;y better spent on other things right now! The Krana in themselves aren't my favourite collectibles anyway, I'd rip someones arm off for the solid gold Hau on the other hand AS for the purples, everywhere else I look says the variant is the light purple and they can't be that common as I've never come across any. Does anyone have this different variant in their own collections? Now this is in the b/s/t forum I feel it's ok to suggest that anyone who has this variant going spare should sell it to me for as little as possible Here is a pic from a russian site showing the different shades and slight glow-in-the-dark effect. Surely this must be genuine or why are there so many images of them online in collection guides? Light purple krana: dark purple were released in January 2002 in a bag with gold and silver masks ([brickset] 8569 [/ brickset]), light purple met in the same published in August 2002 with a bag Nuva masks (8598). As seen in the photo - light purple has the ability to glow in the dark. Letagi Posted October 25, 2014 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Looks like we were talking about the same Krana then. For some reason I always thought that light purple was the correct variation. As far as I know they're actually not difficult to find, but are difficult to differentiate from the correct variation unless you look closely. So, if for instance you buy a bunch of assorted Krana on eBay, the seller is not likely to differentiate the two shades and unless the photo is really good quality the difference might not even be noticeable. Also, they aren't glow in the dark, but the difference is more noticeable when placed under a black/UV light, as in that picture. -Letagi Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Toa_Ausar Posted October 28, 2014 Share Posted October 28, 2014 The only reason that Light Purple are slightly more rare than the Dark Purple is because the Dark Purple can be found in sets 8550-1, 8559-1, 8559-2, and 8569-1; meanwhile the Light Purple can only be found in sets 8597-1 and 8598-1.That being said, they're pretty common from my experience and shouldn't take long to collect.Oh, and they don't glow in the dark, they are simply highly variant in black light.
