There comes a time when everything must end.

For Mafia, that is no different.

When the First Age ended, a drought the likes of which had never been seen before struck the lands on BZPower. During this drought, great changes occurred, and many players were lost forever. But some came back; and a fresh wave of players arrived. So the Second Age began, plagued with chaos and uncertainty. Before a new rhythm could be found, it was over; it was done. The Second Age had collapsed upon itself, and the realm of Mafia was a wasteland.

Then, one player rose from the ashes, journeying through the Desolation to claim the Staff of Unlimited Power. They rebooted Mafia once more; and so the Third Age began. The Third Age lasted long, bringing with it players from the First Age, Second Age, and those newcomers foolish enough to believe they had what it took to survive in this harsh realm. While at first, there were only minor hiccups to what was otherwise the greatest of the Ages, eventually, things took a downward turn. Players began to disappear; hosts began to vanish into thin air. The crop of new players slowly ran dry. Inspiration was lost; and yet new concepts, new twists, new gimmicks, were added again, and again, and again. The Third Age had outlasted the First in both game count and years, and yet it was failing.

It died a slow, painful death.

And when it finally died, there was nothing of the Third Age left to recover.

No players. No games. No locations. No twists. No roles. No hosts.

Nothing at all. It was gone.

Mafia was gone.

---

In the middle of a vast desert, a cloaked figure stood. Their cloak flapped in the wind as sand blew all around them; while parts of their armour had been permanently stained the color of sand, others remained their original sleek black. Green eyes glowed from within the hood, although their face could not be seen.

A mountain towered over the figure, and although its size was still intimidating, it was only half the height that it had been hundreds of years before, during the Third Age. Time had erased the Desolation of the Staff; and Mt. Power was slowly being lost forever as well. The threats and obstacles that had once been so commonplace in the Desolation were nowhere to be found; indeed, no one had stepped foot here since before the Third Age had ended. The location had been lost just as the concept of Mafia itself had; the figure had spent what felt like an eternity trying to find it.

Yet here they were at last.

The figure did not expect to find the Staff of Unlimited Power inside; that had become lost in its own way, having dissolved into pure energy and scattered by the wind when the Third Age died. No… hidden within was something of a far different sort of power. Something that had been created using the Staff… but designed to fulfil a purpose that the Staff of Unlimited Power could never be used for.

Contained within what had once been Mt. Power was the Voltex Constant.

Of course, finding - and activating - the Voltex Constant would be a struggle like nothing the figure had ever known; although the figure had prepared for this. They would need help from others - many others.

Help from the best of the best.

Slowly, the figure pulled an orb out of their cloak, which glowed crimson in their hands. It had been taken from a once-mighty tyrant, once created and used to shift time and space, stolen from a different universe entirely. It had been meant to help claim a realm; the figure had different ideas. Summoning the mystical power contained within the orb, the figure concentrated.

And as Matoran began to appear in the desert behind the figure, hundreds of years before, in the middle of the Third Age, back when it was still the greatest of the three… the greatest players of all began to disappear one by one.

The figure turned to face them.

I am the Drifter, and that is what you may call me, said the figure. And I have pulled you through time and space to help me save Mafia itself. Help me find the Voltex Constant.

Let the Game Begin.

RULES

1. Do not reveal roles unless revealing your own.

2. Roles will have 24 hours to PM me each night; 24 hours will be given for voting each day.

3. One vote change is permitted per round.

4. BZP Rules Apply, of course.

ROLES

Matoran x17 - Ordinary players that can vote during the day.

Medic x1 - Can protect one player each night from the Mafia.

Detective x1 - Can investigate one player each night to learn their role.

Mafia x6 - One is sent each night to kill another player.

Drifter - Not given to a player; the Drifter's full plan is known only to them, but rumor has it that there might be a twist in the works….

HOW THE NIGHT WORKS

Each role selects their target; three players are selected by RNG and given a chance to reach the Voltex Constant. These players must then bet on another RNG outcome; selecting either even or odd. If the number matches the player's choice, then that player has reached the Voltex Constant. The benefits of reaching the Volex Constant are unknown at this time; they will be revealed later.

HOW THE DAY WORKS

Each day, the Drifter will give a list of players that did not commit the crime of the previous night - these players are therefore immune to any lynch attempts for that round. No other suspect list of any kind will be provided. A maximum of four players can be lynched each day. One of the players on the innocent list will also be given a chance to reach the Voltex Constant.

Or so they all thought.

---

In the middle of a vast desolation, a cloaked figure stood. Their cloak flapped in the wind as sand blew all around them; while parts of their armour had been permanently scorched by fire, others remained their original sleek black and silver. Teal, sometimes purple eyes glowed from within the hood, although their face could not be seen.

A mountain towered over the figure, and although its size was still intimidating, it had lost its luster to the figure below during the Third Age. Time and time again, he had been forced to cross the Desolation of the Staff; and Mt. Power was slowly beginning to fade, its power falling. The threats and obstacles that had once been so commonplace in the Desolation were rarely to be found; indeed, not a single trap or obstacle had hindered his path on this latest journey. The location, once so well known, had been lost just as the concept of Mafia itself was becoming; the figure had spent what felt like an eternity trying to find his way back, to save it once and for all.

Yet here they were at last.

The figure did not expect to find the Staff of Unlimited Power inside; that had recently become lost in its own way, having dissolved into pure energy and scattered by the wind, signalling the supposed death of Mafia. No… hidden within was now nothing at all. But soon, something that he had created using the last of the Staff’s energies would be hidden within.

Contained within what had once been Mt. Power would be the Voltex Constant.

Of course, finding - and activating - the Voltex Constant would be a struggle like nothing anyone had ever known; the figure had deliberately planned this. Those searching for the Voltex Constant would require aid from others - many others.

Help from the best of the best, or the worst of the worst. Help from those who played Mafia.

Slowly, the figure pulled a crystal out of their cloak, which glowed a brilliant shade of blue - hinting at teal -  in their hand. It had been created to shift time and space, from the energies of the Staff of Unlimited Power itself. It was meant to help reclaim a realm; the figure had created it with the intentions of saving Mafia, or at least enough of it that someday in the future, the Fourth Age could begin. Summoning the mystical power contained within the crystal, the figure concentrated.

And as the figure and the crystal began to disappear and fade, … the greatest players of all began to disappear one by one.

The figure concentrated harder, finding himself within the crystal, which had grown in size. It re-appeared within the center of Mt. Power; and in his final moments before darkness claimed him, the figure watched as the mountain created its own defenses.

I am Voltex, and that is what you may call me, said the figure, whispering the thoughts across time and space. And I shall wait for you through time and space to help me save Mafia itself. Come, and find the Voltex Constant.

Let the true game begin.

RULES

1. Do not reveal roles unless revealing your own.

2. Roles will have 24 hours to PM me each night; 24 hours will be given for voting each day.

3. Vote changes are not permitted.

4. BZP Rules Apply, of course.

5. Once killed, players cannot have any effect on the game.

ROLES

Matoran x14 - Ordinary players that can vote during the day. These players win if the Mafia is wiped out, or if they lynch the Drifter during the day.

Medic x1 - Can protect one player each night from the Mafia (NOT the Drifter). This player wins if the Mafia is wiped out, or if they lynch the Drifter during the day.

Detective x1 - Can investigate one player each night to learn their role. This player wins if the Mafia is wiped out, or if they lynch the Drifter during the day.

Mafia x4 - One is sent each night to kill another player. These players win if the Village is wiped out, or if they kill the Drifter at night.

Drifter x1 - The Drifter can kill one player at night, and one player during the day. They win if one of the factions wipes out the other while the Drifter survives. The Drifter cannot ally with either faction; should an alliance be suspected, roles will be shuffled. The Drifter will automatically survive the first attempt to kill them at night and the first attempt to lynch them during the day. The Drifter will show up as a regular Matoran to the Detective.

HOW THE NIGHT WORKS

Each role selects their target; the Detective shall discover a role, the Medic shall protect someone, the Mafia shall kill someone, and the Drifter shall kill someone.

HOW THE DAY WORKS

Each day, Voltex will give a list of players that did not commit the Mafia crime of the previous night - these players are therefore immune to any lynch attempts for that round. No other suspect list of any kind will be provided. A maximum of four players can be lynched each day.

To the fools who believe they can claim Spot 19 - I put the Drifter there for a reason, people! It is because I don't want ANY of you to have Spot 19!

To the fools who believe I will shuffle names around on the player list after I already put them down; you truly have no idea how much the coding in that post has been driving me insane. I'm not changing anything. Besides, this game is going to be enough work as-is without worrying about petty things like that :D

(actually i'd hate it if things got messed up and i didn't get spot 19 so i will fix this for you i guess)

HOLY KARZAHNI PEOPLE

Do you all understand what you have DONE?!

It took you 33 minutes to fill this game.

33 MINUTES.

The previous record was held by Bionicle Mafia III: By the Numbers, which filled 21 spots in 2.5 hours, or 150 minutes.

You all filled 19 spots in 33 freakin' minutes!

SO

To celebrate, I will leave signups open for one more hour, and open up six more player slots, bumping this game to 25 players.

Let's make it happen!

I can set upon my vengeance post-haste. A warning to the belligerent who attempted to eliminate myself as the Coolant Monitor in Mafia: Damage Control: You know who you are, and you brought what comes next upon yourself.

We have all done or crimes in our past lives. The infleshment begins, our roles our chosen by strange gods with plans unknown. We cannot understand why we are who we are, but we must follow it. That is the cycle. Some escape the knife and the noose, but all die eventually. And all are eventually re-enfleshed. And so the cycle begins again. You cannot argue with the universe.
