Corpus Rahkshi

IC: Orloc - Library

Orloc grimaced. "How?"

IC: Rōzu - Hallway

Rōzu pondered for a moment, before smiling faintly. "You know what? I think I'd like to check it out. Not that you have to come along if you don't want to. After what happened earlier, it's understandable if you'd want to take a moment to "

IC: Helkyrie - Hallways

On her way to the gym, Helkyrie at that moment came cross four other rahkshi, recognising none of them, but easily recognising the situation itself. It was best not to get involved in these kinds of quarrels, and yet, she couldn't help but stay and watch with morbid fascination as the scene unfolded.

OOC: Helkyrie, standing some ways away, watching Danger, Glass, Revenge and Xara.

IC: Aerahk - Gym

Aerahk returned to Thurisaz, having completed his task. "My liege, I have returned from my task completed." He then looked at the new arrival, Paladin. "Who is this?"

IC: Lucid / Library

"We just get up and walk over to where he is. What did you expect?"

IC: Thurisaz / Gym

"Ah, hello Aerahk," Thurisaz greeted his loyal follower approvingly. "This is Sir Paladin, he's just joined us. He was a semifinalist in the tournament, recall?" he introduced his new vassal with satisfaction. "Paladin, this is Aerahk, another steadfast companion of mine."

IC: Tube - Hallways

Tube stuck around for a moment to be sure they were no longer needed before leaving the Infirmary. It seemed their fellow servant had already done so, and Tube tried to hurry to catch up, moving noticably faster with their new level.

IC: Garrotte - Hallways

"It still sounds as if we should make haste."

IC: Paladin - Gym

"Pleasure to meet you. Have you served my lord long?"

I followed behind Thurisaz, almost jogging a little bit to catch up.

IC: Crate - Gym

The gymnasium.

Occasionally a venue that I use for my hobby, but more often that not there aren't as many victims I can get away with tormenting without being utterly mauled by some beefcake Magnetism or Lim-In rahk.

Luckily for me, most of the people here are here to participate in the assignment, not to work out.

Though the thought occurs to me that I should actually also work when I join in on the assignment, I dismiss it quickly. Work isn't fun.

I make my way over to the edge of the gym and lean against the wall.

OOC: Lim-In is a sort of slang I imagine that the rahks use for limited invulnerability rahkshi.

IC: Rider - Hallways

"Sure, I..."

A voice in the distance made me freeze right as I was speaking.

"Is that...."

I suddenly blasted off into the hallways. Claws struggled to keep up with me.

OOC: Rider can hear Revenge, if you hadn't guessed. :)

IC: Lucid / Library, Courtyard

"Of course. Follow me." The rainbow Rahkshi stood up, leading the way to the fringes of the Courtyard. Although many of the Porters had been sent to deliver word of the assignment, a small number of them remained at ease by the garden there, as usual. The Rahkshi stopped a respectful distance away, so as not to disturb them.

"See that one?" Lucid whispered, singling out one of them despite its appearance being indistinguishable to the untrained eye. "Gaze well, and reverently. For you look upon the Uncrowned King."

IC: Vlad / Approaching Gym

"Vell, yes," Vlad conceded, stepping a little faster. They were almost at the Gym anyways.

IC: Orloc - Courtyard

"That's not the uncrowned king, whose wings are chained by the blood betrayed." Orloc said, a confused tone to their voice.

IC: Aerahk - Gym

"Well, that depends on what you'd call long, I suppose, but I believe I've stayed by my liege's side and carried out his will from since he arrived here."

IC: Rōzu - Hallway

"Wait for me!" She said, running after him.

IC Grim - Hall:

It was just outside the Infirmary that Grim found who they'd been looking for.

"Sliver," they said pleasantly. she looked particularly irate, but it seemed she was on her way to the assignment.

They extended the items they carried. A Twilight Blade, a quiver filled with arrows(including a few armor piercing ones that Grim themselves had added), and a bladed bow. It was not the same bow that had been destroyed previous, but a new, slightly stronger draw weighted metal bow.

"I'm pleased to inform you your punishment is concluded. You are once again permitted your weapons and your title of Prefect."

IC Diode:

So close to the gym were the three of them that Diode scarcely had the opportunity to ask Vlad, "Why do you wear that lightstone encrusted cloak?" than they had stepped into the gym proper.

GM IC Icarax:

With nary a sound nor any flash, Icarax himself appeared in the center of the Gym.

Students. Today your test is team based. split into groups of four. One among the four will be assigned as a VIP, and it will be the duty of the other three to not only protect that VIP, but hunt down and disable the other team's VIP.

The rules are simple. I will turn this room into a dense urban maze. Your teams will be placed into it. You will continue until you lose your VIP, are the last team left, or until I have deemed the exercise over. You are not to kill any of your fellows.

He paused, looking over the assembled horde.

Any questions?

GM IC Johmak:

She tilted her head quizzically, "Your father?"

Cuutuk - to the gym

"Come on, Melody. I think we're missing something in the gym!" Cuutuk said, taking Melody's hand and going into a sprint to the Gymnasium.

Krieveks - also to the gym

After passing canvas, I just kinda stood in the doorway of the gym. This makuta was the first I'd seen besides my father. Was Bitil just a wimp? Or just built differently? This Makuta was huge.

IC: Uunrak - Gym

"Ok, so... I guess knocking them out would be enough?"

IC: Orloc - Courtyard

Orloc struggled to make sense of the situation, when suddenly a horrifying realization dawned on them. "You're... you're mocking me, aren't you? This is all just some big laugh to you, isn't it?!" Orloc backed away from Lucid, an expression of disgust on their face. "How dare you?! You would laugh at me just the same as the rest of them, wouldn't you?!" With tears running down their faceplates, Orloc turned around and ran out of the courtyard, clearly distressed.

Coming to a halt in one of the corridors of the school, tears still running, Orloc pulled their ornamental knife out of their robes, and lifting the sleeve off their right arm, they carved a tally mark into their armour, where dozens were before it. Finishing their handiwork, they finally collapsed into a heap in the hallway, weeping.

IC: Sliver - Corridor.

"Grim, I..." I started to wrack my mind for an excuse to explain why I wasn't still in the infirmary, before I registered his words, "...uh, thank you." I was perhaps a little too eager in accepting my weapons, "I'll do my best to... do better in future."

_____________________________________________________________________________________

IC: Vyper - Gym.

An assassination/escort task in an urban environment? Finally, a school-mandated activity that adhered perfectly to what I'd come here to learn. Of course, the teamwork element complicated things slightly... but life was full of disappointments.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

IC: Illusive - Gym.

For the first time in a long time, I found the prospect of an assignment enthralling. Given my time spent blending in in Malebranche, I suspected I was better acclimated than most other rahks to operating in an urban locale. Not to mention that it would provide the perfect testing ground for my heightened illusion powers.

This was going to be fun.

IC: Lucid / Courtyard

"What? No, this actually is..." Lucid tried to explain, now herself the confused one, but it was too late. Orloc was already fleeing in anguish.

She considered going after them, but suspected that might do more harm than good right now. Disturbed to have upset someone so, she trudged over to the Porters and sat down drearily. "You remain obscure, your majesty," she told the Uncrowned King. The stoic machine accepted the verdict passively and continued gardening.

IC: Hoto - Village of Kaam

"Oh, sorry, I... I mean Makuta Krika. This... is his domain, isn't it?"

IC: Garrotte - Gym

As Icarax's voice boomed, Garrotte came to a sudden stop in the doorway, her eyes fixed on his grand figure. So... it was to be a test.

IC: Tube - Gym

Tube came rushing into the Gym to the sound of Icarax announcing the next assignment. Hardly listening, they wasted no time in shoving past some stupified Lerahk and finding their Master again. "I'm... back!" they panted.

IC: Canvas - Hallways

Fortunately, this one wasn't a Rahk to pick fights. Canvas watched him go until he vanished around a corner, then turned back to her thoughts. What had she been doing? Oh... the Prefects. In the Gym. Hadn't the Porters said something about the Gym too?

IC: Thurisaz / Gym

Thurisaz was wearing an excited grin. "Good timing, Tube," he told his breathless vassal. "Icarax has just announced an assignment; we need to get into teams of four." He surveyed his three associates with clear satisfaction. "All of you up for joining mine?"

* * *

IC: Vlad / Gym

He thought a moment about how to answer Diode's question. "I have an unusual condition," he explained. "Vhere most Rahkshi can't stand bright light, I am pained by deep darkness. I vear zis cloak so I am alvays comfortably illuminated." The cloak, he realized, was still burnt in places. Probably his faceplate too. He had to get that fixed sometime.

In the meantime, Icarax had explained the assignment. "A VIP game," Vlad murmured. That certainly wasn't going to be overly violent. "Are you goink to participate?" he asked his two companions.

* * *

IC: Jayar / Forest

"Is there a path to trace?" Jayar asked, kneeling again to consider this latest evidence, the larger disturbance where Kat and Cao, apparently, had vanished.

* * *

IC: Shark / Hallways

With Thurisaz' assignment concluded, and indeed Icarax himself now presiding over a labyrinthine assignment in the Gym, there was no longer any reason for Shark to keep vigil there. But another aspect of a Prefect's duties was to patrol the hallways, intervening in violent scraps and maintaining order among the student body. So Shark took to drifting through the halls, monitoring them for chaos or strife.

He was in a relatively quiet part of the building when he heard distressed footsteps reverberate through an adjacent corridor, then slowly slump to a stop. His sedate approach soon brought faint weeping fading into his hearing as well. Soon he came upon its source: a scrawny maroon-robed Rahk, clearly desolate.

"What's wrong?" he asked compassionately, a giant gentle in concern for a student crying.

IC: Kororia - Library

Kororia frowned. “That’s weird. Maybe they were really good teachers, too? And that’s why they taught the class.”

A light seemed to ignite in her eyes, and she nodded knowingly. “Oh, I get it! You’re shy! I’m sorry, I must have been very rude. It’s okay, you don’t have to go. I’ll get you a copy of the assignment!”

She gave Tear’s leg a quick hug, her leg being the only thing she could really reach, and hurried out the door.

IC Diode:

"How intriguing..... I wonder if others from your Makuta are similarly affected......"

"In any case, I do think I'll participate. It's not like I have better things to do today," she shrugged.

IC Percy:

Percy's eyes lit up with excitement, and he could barely keep himself still when the thought dawned on him that aside from Shark, that Exxan guy and Canvas..... he didn't know anyone to team up with.

With some amount of dread, he scanned the gathered crowd for a sympathetic face.

IC Aza and Ezec:

"Should anyone wish to be on the winning team, they need only come to me and my brother," the Black God purred, her voice slick like oil.

Her point was not as effectively put out when the brother in question was a mean looking kraata on her shoulder, but she carried herself as if she was unaware of the fact.

IC: Tube - Gym

Tube was about to answer when they noticed the fourth member of the group. "Who's that?"

IC: Garrotte - Gym

Garrotte remained still as a statue even after the instructions had ended. It was a moment or two of awkward silence before she blinked and seemed to return to the task at hand. "I see no reason not to."

IC: Tear - Library

"N-no!" Tear called out, apparently too late for the surprisingly quick little Rahkshi. It was obvious she didn't understand. Tear had to find her, had to stop her before she got hurt...

She rushed out after Kororia toward the Gym.

IC: Kororia - 2 Fast 2 Squish

Kororia was, for a Rahkshi shaped roughly like a bouncy ball, deceptively quick. She followed the stragglers and the funny droids to the Gym, and did her best to burst in quietly, out of politeness. She scanned the room, and saw a Makuta. He looked a little meaner than her dad, but like her mum always said, pretty much anything looked meaner than him. She giggled a little at the thought, and made her way through the sea of Rahkshi legs towards him, apologising for pushing as she went. He was probably the teacher, she reasoned, and he’d most likely be the one to talk to about the assignment. Though, no one else had any papers or anything. Maybe he had yet to hand it out?

IC: Tear - Hallways

Perhaps Tear's longer legs should have helped her catch the fleeing squishrahk, but as she ran the toll of the last day with no rest began to make itself known. Her vision blurred, her head pounded.

Tear collapsed just down the hall from the Gym, clutching her faceplates. "No..." she whispered, seemingly to herself. "No... more..."

IC: Paladin - Gym

A VIP game...

Suddenly, another one of Thurisaz's companions burst in, a smaller one, just a little bigger than my brother.

"My name is Sir Paladin. I have recently sworn myself to Lord Thurisaz here, as a Knight requires a master to serve." I responded to the small one's question.

"Of course I will be part of your team, my lord. It is my duty to protect you, after all."

A skeptical and unordinary thought went through my mind regarding Thurisaz's servants...if he was indeed a lord, where were the rest of the knights serving in his court?

I metaphorically swatted the thought aside.

Perhaps Knights like myself were uncommon around these parts.

IC Grim:

"The opportunity to do so is at hand. Icarax has an assignment ready it seems. Shall we?" They gestured the direction of the gym.

IC: Sliver - Corridor.

"Fine." Without a further word, I started heading in the direction of the gym.

Inwardly, though, a familiar sense of glee was slowly rising to the surface. I had my weapons back, I had an excuse to use them, and I had what felt like months worth of anger and frustration that desperately needed to be vented.

This was going to be fun.

IC: Glass

"Woah, easy there, Xara, let's not come to blows juuuuust yet."

IC: Aerahk - Gym

"As long as you will have me, my liege, I shall stay by you side."

IC: Orloc - Hallways

Orloc looked up... only for their eyes to widen. "You... unheard but ever present. Out of sight, out of mind, out of time... Who are you?" Orloc wiped some of the tears from their face plate.

IC: Uunrak - Gym

I looked around myself at the crowd. Lots of unfamiliar faces... which wasn't a surprise, since I was new here. I eventually noticed one of the contestants looking around uncertainly, as if in a similar predicament as I. I took a second to pep myself up, and then, I took the initiative and approached them. "H-hey there. I'm Uunrak. Wanna team up?" I reached out with my hand as a greeting, hoping it was a universally understood gesture.

IC: Door - Entering gym

It was at that time that Door walked into the gym, rahi blood littering their armour, carrying some dead rahi over their shoulder while wielding a repaired morningstar in the other. "What's all this?"

IC: Dissent - Gym

Dissent folded her arms. An assignment. From that makuta? No thanks. She'd rather eat brakas droppings and wash it down with that tasteless slop she'd eaten back at home. Oh well, at least this sordid establishment had to have something more serviceable, right? Interested to find out, Dissent decided to leave the Gym, only to stop when she saw Door in the door.

IC: Vinna - Out of the picture

Somehow, trying to capture a matoran after failing to convince Illusive to do so for them, Vinna had gotten themselves killed in the outskirts of a matoran village trying to nab one from one of the as-of-recent highly alert matoran villages, and now lied dead in the dirt rotting.

IC: Waiata - Gym

Having just set down her loudspeakers in the far corner of the gym, Waiata was disappointed to hear that there would be yet another event taking place here, which meant her concert was going to be pushed further back. Oh well, might as well see how I fare in this assignment. She thought, brandishing her hammer mic and axe guitar as she approached the crowd.

IC: Kororia - Tiny Speedster

Blissfully unaware of the state of her friend behind her, she arrived at the front of the crowd, and at the Makuta. She reached up and tapped his knee to get his attention. “I’m really sorry, but I came late, and I didn’t get a copy of the assignment. It’s my first day today, and I don’t want to miss out on my first homework assignment! Do you have any spare copies? My friend was late, too, but she’s shy.”

She smiled, as brightly and radiantly as a Rahkshi could.

"That big makuta over there wants us to get into groups of four, where he'll then elect someone we have to protect, a VIP, so to speak."

You are probably wondering why I'm being so helpful.

The payoff for that comes later.

"The question is-"

Suddenly, an identical image of me displays itself at the opposite side of the big shielded rahkshi.

"Are you taking part?" We both ask.

Ooh, confidence.

Let's see how long that lasts.

The mirror image disappears, and I toss my baton back to my dominant hand.

I didn't know anybody, but perhaps he did. Though his weird dead rahi might scare other people off.

"Oh, you serve Master too! You will like him, he is a smart and evil master! We will have fun protecting him in this assignment!"

IC: Tear - Hallways

Her struggle only lasted a few moments longer before Tear fell limp to the floor, too exhausted to move. And as she relinquished control, something else rose to take her place.

Tear lifted his head slowly, taking in his surroundings through narrow eyes. How long had it been since he'd been awakened? He felt weak and tired, obviously her attempts to keep him away. Pity she wasn't as strong as he.

He was in a hallway not far from the Gym, the open doors of which let out an indicative rumble of conversation. Something was going on. He should check it out... but perhaps he could use a moment to recover his strength first.

...what?

"Surely you jest? He's a noble lord, not an evil mastermind."

He seemed rather young, and....somewhat slow, so I took everything he said with more than a grain of salt.

I gave a quick glance to Thurisaz.

IC: Crate - Gym

I think I'd like to ask what that rahi thing was about later.

For now, I notice another rahkshi arrive. Plasma, it looks like.

I make a mental note to ask shield-rahk what his variation was, it's something I particularly enjoy keeping track of.

Activating my abilities just a little bit, I seem to disappear from where I was before and reappear next to the new rahkshi.

I'm very glad I was given the powers I was.

"Are you here for the assignment?" My eyes seem to gleam a little bit.

--IC: The Clique (Luffy, Kri, Pyle, Oshi, Exigent): In the Gym--

Luffy's tongue waggled.  A team assignment?  This should be fun!  Maybe he'd get to meet new friends in this assignment.

"Hey! Hey, drippy guy!" Luffy said enthusiastically, tapping the drippy guy on the shoulder repeatedly.  "Wanna be on a team?  Wanna be on my team for this assignment?  Come on, friend, it'll be fun!"

Knowing the reputation of some of the other students, Kri was sure that beatdowns galore would eventually break out.  And oh, how she longed to be on the receiving end of one of those beatdowns.  She looked about for some partners, with the intent of taking the role of a protector; then, she could put herself in harm's way as much as she liked.  Imagining the pain that would come of it almost drove her into ecstasy...

Pyle knew that he could convince anyone who wanted to team up with him to let him be the VIP in this assignment.  And if his words couldn't convince them, then he'd let The Shankers do the talking.  He skulked about, looking for some big, bruiser types to team up with.

A team assignment?  Oh God, but that meant working with people...

Oshi cringed, and huddled back in her corner, more nervous than ever.  Her shoulders began to tremble, as she braced herself for the inevitable wave of aggression that would come at her if anybody tried to talk to her.

Exigent cocked an eyebrow.  Team assignments weren't really his thing, but he had worked with other Rahkshi in the past.  Well, his siblings.  As long as his teammates held up their roles, and performed better than his siblings, then everything should proceed smoothly.

And as long as nobody touched him.

IC Grim:

"Splendid," they said, following their compatriot through the hall.

IC Percy:

"Sure! My name's Percy!" the small Dodgerahk piped up, shaking the offered hand excitedly.

IC Diode:

"Sounds like a team based game again. Might be good to team up ourselves, we'd only need one additional person."

GM IC Icarax:

Kororia would find herself pulled just out of reach by magnetic force after the first pap of her hand against Icarax's leg. The Makuta turned and peered down upon the pudgy Rahkshi with disdain.

You are woefully misinformed. This is not a paper and pen assignment. It is a test of skill. There are no 'copies' of anything to give. If you want to know the rules, you will have to ask your peers.

He directed his attention back to the crowd, many of whom were already grouping up.

GM IC Johmak:

"Oh, worry do not, Krika is keeping much to himself this days, and is not liking to be out and about. he will not be seeing you here."

IC: Thurisaz / Gym

Thurisaz's grin showed mild mirth. "Take no offense," he assured Paladin. "Tube speaks clumsily, but with good intentions. Understand 'power' or 'ambition' in place of 'evil,' and it makes more sense," he elucidated. "After all, the most impressive beings are often conventionally notorious."

IC: Vlad / Gym

Vlad nodded. "I'm villink to team up vith you two," he agreed. He scanned the crowd for other familiar faces. There weren't a lot of Rahkshi he knew well here... he had fought alongside a lot of people in the past, but most had drifted away somehow.

He did find one familiar face though. "I know her, her name is Helkyrie," he said, indicating the deathly Rahk. "Ve can invite her."
