IC: Shadow

The dirt got in his eyes, he couldn't see for a moment, he wiped his eyes, and suddenly BAM! A tree branch hit the Side of his head, he was flung to the side, "Cao! Fang! Requesting assistance!" He Yelled, Hopefully the Elasticity Rahk and the Plasma Rahk would be able to help, Now on the Ground, he Swung his Sword at Sharks legs...

IC: Root - Visorak Jungle (Team Doublecross)

The leaves shook with what sounded like a weary sigh. "Surely, y-you c-c-could d-do b-b-better. B-b-but p-pay it n-no m-m-mind, for I c-c-can h-help!"

A hand reached from within the branches to rest on Shield's back. Root took a deep breath.

My friend may be harmed except by use of thy concealment, he thought to the plants, merely because it seemed appropriate. They would not be injured in such a heroic venture, and it was in every way a noble use of his power. Still he seemed reluctant to take the final step.

He let out the breath, and vines snaked from his hand to crawl around the white carapace of his companion. Leaves sprouted, covering the gaps. Last of all, Root sagged forward out of the shrubbery in exhaustion. The two now looked as one part of the jungle around them.

Root gazed over his handiwork with a nod and pronounced it good.

IC: Sanu-DoubleCross

He realized he hadn't finished his Engraving, all he had on his Brass knuckle was SAN, no U! "I'll Fix it when- If I get Back." He Said to himself...

Why does everything have to go wrong? It all started with the Spoon...

"It all started with the Spoon!" He yelled, accidentally letting his thoughts out his Mouth.

IC: Root - Visorak Jungle (Team Doublecross)

Root remained impassive to Shield's exuberance. "Indeed," said he in a low tone. "Our f-f-foes w-will have d-d-difficulty f-f-finding y-you now."

With a quick turn, Root vanished once more into the forest. They still had seen no sign of the foe. They would have to keep looking.

IC: Shark Team Doublecross / Visorak Wilds

But no help would come at Shadow's shout, for not a sound escaped his mouth. Shark's silence field was fully in effect.

Shark leapt into the air and in the opposite direction of the Molecular Disruption Rahk's sword, allowing it to pass beneath him. As he came down he stomped down towards his enemy's wrist, hoping to break it or at least injure it to the point where he would be unable to wield his sword. He also brought the thick, heavy end of the branch down hard once more with both hands, aiming to knock Shadow unconscious with a viciously powerful blow to the head.

IC: Jayar / Grossh's Boat

"Indeed." Jayar said nothing further, merely sat back and enjoyed the ride, trying to take in everything before the boat's exhilarating speed whipped it out of sight once more. The canal systems slowed the ride, but as they approached Malebranche there was more to see than ever. And they weren't even really there yet.

IC: Exxan - Team Backstab (Farsholt Village Lighthouse).

"Too obvious," I agreed, "besides, our tracks already lead here. The enemy can follow them to this location." I'd used my powers to remove our tracks from near the building we'd buried the flag in, as well as removing all trace of Era hiding in the other building.

The only trail we had left lead here. "Now for the boring part..... we have to wait for them to come to us...."

IC: Shark Team Doublecross / Visorak Wilds

At this point, one might have thought that Shark would simply kill Shadow. But there was a reason he'd struck to incapacitate, not kill: now, he had a hostage.

It was beautiful, really, thought Shark as he unsheathed his trusty unnamed sword and cut several thick vines from the canopy. So many Rahkshi were burdened by morality... could they bear to stand against him, knowing that if they did, an innocent Rahkshi would die? This was just a simple game. Fools like Fang and Caoutchouc and Kat could never put the life of a fellow Rahk at risk over such meagre stakes, Shark knew. And in the long run, power like that would make it so much easier for him to accomplish his final goals.

So he tied the vines - a suitably organic binding for a Rahkshi capable of eating through inorganic material - first around Shadow's hands, locking them behind his back. Then, after a brief moment scanning the forest, he found a suitably broad and opaque leaf to use as a blindfold for his captive. Finally, he appropriated a tough root sort of thing from its home within the ground and used it to gag the Molecular Disruption Rahk. Perfect.

Now Shark stood over the immobile and trapped Shadow, one foot resting gently on the captive's back, almost like some absurd massage. The tip of his unnamed sword floated nonchalantly just above Shadow's head. Take out Shark in any but the most precise way (and that would require him not noticing you), and he'd topple into Shadow, killing him.

The left corner of Shark's lip twitched for a moment in the barest beginnings of a smile before he repressed it. This assignment was just as much fun as he had hoped.

OOC: Alright then.

IC: Bullseye/Gym >>> Halls

"Making music doesn't come easily unless one practices," I said, my voice reverting to a cheerful state. "Well I'm off to see if Metal finished that board yet. See you later friend!"

I walked out into the halls to hear a clicking sound. That clicking sound was coming from...Rider? He was blind right? I walked up to him.

"Hey. Rider. It's Bullseye. What are you doing?"

IC: Sliver - Team Doublecross (Starnhorn Range).

Once the rest of the team had taken up their position, I clambered up onto a ledge on the cliff and laid the flag down beside me. I crouched down on the cold stone and rested by bow in front of me, pulling out a handful of arrows and placing them within easy reach. I was ready for whatever the other team had to throw at us.

I stopped for a second, gazing over to where Vorjak had captured one of our enemies. With a nod of approval, I continued moving silently towards my target.

IC: Drift - Dorm

I pulled out a large board of canvas from somewhere. Setting it on the floor, I pulled out my paints and prepared them on a makeshift palette.

IC - Visorak Wilds

Karz... no response, perhaps his guess had been incorrect? He had lost sight of Fang and Shadow. That didn't bode well with him. Eying a branch above, he stretched his arm out to take hold of it. Lifting himself into the canopy of trees. It was slightly quieter to move through them, and gave him an element of surprise. With quiet, precise movements he made for the last area he'd seen Shadow in.

"You would bring this place burning to its foundations?"

An open question to them both.

Venom considered this a moment before replying.

We can try it your way for now. If it doesn't work, we at least have another plan to fall back on.

Hearing the question relayed by the other Rahkshi, she spared them a glance before going back to her signing.

IC: Shark Team Doublecross / Visorak Wilds

Shark deactivated the silence field. At this point, hearing an enemy's approach was more important than remaining hidden.

And he was rewarded. There was a rustling of branches, and Caoutchouc came into view in a tree for a moment. Good, he was one of those that had morals, honor. If it had been Exxan, doubt might have entered Shark's mind.

IC: Once they were up the methodical progression of canals, once they had made it through the gruelling bureaucracy of Malebranche's import and travel restrictions, once they had fought their way through the crowds of the First Tier to reach a cable-car, only then could the trio of Rahkshi take a pause to draw breath. Finally they were on the home stretch to reaching Grossh.

"So," piped up their Vortixx escort, standing in the furthest possible corner she could, "Why come back to Grossh? You're not after a handout, are you?"

IC - Visorak Wilds

True to Silver's assumption, Caoutchouc had been unaware of his tail and their attack. Quick thinking and honed reflexes saved him from mortal injury, but not from a nasty wound. His hastily constructed plan was to twist out of the way, due to time constraints he was only able to move the staff's point of impact from gut to left quadriceps.

A quick curse as he backed up, stretching his arm a good five bio vertically to grab a branch at a higher altitude, allowing himself to haul himself up. Safe for the immediate moment, he surveyed his assailant. Lanky, not a muscular build. Metallic greys and pastel blues. Possible variants included Cyclone and Stasis Field, assuming of course that they did not possess a custom paint job.

He thought back to the teams. Many of those on Doublecross had been lower leveled students, while Backstab had contained all the level fours he knew of, and a fair share of the level threes. Given that he did not recognize this rahkshi, he felt it safe to assume they were a level two. This made him feel a little more confident. What he knew of Stasis Field and Cyclone told him that at a lower level they would not prove an issue.

Faithful slid smoothly from his sheath, he had the upper ground and would prefer to keep it that way. It was the grey and blue rahk's move...

IC: Era - Team Backstab (Farsholt Village Centre).

Hidden amongst the ruins, I pushed my sonic senses to their limits - easy to do in an area as open and quiet as this - I wanted to find out exactly how powerful I'd become. I could 'see' my surroundings quite clearly for around a hundred bio.

After that, things started to grow kind of blurry, and indistinct. I was happy with the result, though. It meant that there was no chance of anyone getting through the village without me noticing them first.

I almost grinned at the scored hit. This one was elasticity and, judging by his powers, a higher level. A challenge, but not something I would step down from. I grabbed onto a tree branch and hefted myself to the next one. Over and over. He definitely had the advantage in the canopy, but it could quite possibly result in an over-confident enemy. I made it to his level and stood poised to attack or defend, armored hand on the tree's trunk.

IC: Hoto - Malebranche

Hoto's head fell with their speed, and she went back to squirming in the belt. Her legs swayed off the edge of the chair, but her clicks just rebounded and echoed inside the boat. Jayar seemed to be admiring the view she couldn't see.

The crowds were no better. Her small frame was jostled about by species of every description available to the blind, and most likely plenty that weren't. It was claustrophobic and chaotic. The noise was worse than deafening, it was blinding to her. She desperately reached out a hand to grasp Jayar's.

She took every chance she had for a breath on the cable car. She refused to dig back into the crowds and instead leaned out the closest window she could. The Vortixx's question made little sense to her, and Jayar had the book anyway. Why bother turning back in?

IC: Fang - Visorak Jungles (Team Backstab)

All at once, noise burst in from around him. Rustling leaves, creaking branches, whispered curses. It sounded like a fight had just broken out, and perhaps there was a Rahkshi of Silence. He recognized the effects.

Fang tightened his grip on Venom and crashed back into the jungle after the last sound he heard. The jungle floor was empty, but the rustling came from above him. As he turned to look, he found Caoutchouc facing down a newer Rahkshi in the treetops. The Elastics Rahkshi was already injured, but Fang had faith in his fighting abilities. He would not interfere on this duel unless necessary, but he kept a wary eye on the opposing Rahkshi.

IC: Rain - Visorak Jungles (Team Doublecross)

There, a glimmer of metal. Rustling branches not far from it. Perhaps there was a battle going on.

Rain charged forward off the ledge she had been waiting on and let herself fall. Just before her beautiful paint was dashed and scratched against the rocks below, she folded into flight position and soared off after the disturbance. She kept low to the canopy, not so much for stealth, for who needed stealth when you looked this good? But rather, it was to hopefully avoid the dangerous Rahi Suvak had spoken of.

She dropped into the jungle and alighted softly on an upper branch near the quivering tree. Bluebacks. Two of 'em. Facing down a fellow Doublecross. As Rain's gaze flickered over the scene to plan, she stopped at a most peculiar sight. Some big, bulky guy was holding a Blueback captive. Not just any Blueback, however...

Scribbler.

Rain nimbly slipped down to the ground and swaggered up to the Rahkshi and his captive. "Oi, Fins, that's my kill!"

IC: Root - Visorak Jungles (Team Doublecross)

Their journey had thusfar been uneventful. Root didn't just stomp through the jungle as some larger species were prone to, but he slipped through and into it, merely a patch of rustling leaves on a curtain of them. Perhaps it was just his overactive imagination honed by countless hours of reading, but he could almost hear the soft whispers of approval from the plants beside him.

Then, the jungle suddenly ended. Root froze at the threshold, appearing very much like a stray bush. They were in the borders of what had once been a great city. A tower stood out from the low-lying ruins, keeping a vigilant watch over the island. It seemed to match the description of the lair of the Backstabbers. Perfect for a pair of green-clad wanderers seeking to bring back information.

Root sent a silent nod back to Shield and a quick gesture to move forward. They would seek out the defenses of this city seemingly devoid of life, and report back to their commander for an effective strategy.

IC Fog:

Fog had chosen a higher up position, so that he was as close as possible to where an enemy might come from. This way, his closer-range powers would be of some use and he would be unlikely to miss with his one harpoon.

IC: Squid

Squid awoke. He was in the courtyard of Corpus Rahkshi. It didn't seem like much had changed. His eyes felt heavy and crusty with Kraata slime. He loosened up a little inside and wiggled. Feeling the metal limbs under his control again, the Rahkshi of Chain Lightning rose out of a flowerbed, to the astonishment of several other Rahkshi nearby. He waved at them and walked off towards the Library. Someone there could help him.

Squid saw a strange Rahkshi running after him. He faced him and held out his hand.

"Hello. My name is Squid. I have been at this school since its beginning and I have never seen you before. I'm not sure how I fell asleep in a flowerbed, but I'm up now and ready to get back on my path towards Shadow Kraata. What is your name, and are you new?"
