The last Bionicle you opened

What's the last set you've opened and when, given Bionicle ended 5 years ago? Mine was the Baranus V7 I opened today. I got it in 2010 but I planned on saving it for a day when I feel nostalgic about Bionicle since it ended. But then they rebooted it so I just opened it anyways. I really enjoy the old system to the HF sets I have.

Piraka Stars was the last actual Bionicle set I purchased and opened. I've bought plenty of Bionicle parts that were new to me thru Bricklink and such since then. Oh, and I've picked up some old Bionicle pens and a card pack since the theme ended, but those don't really count as sets.

I've gotten a lot since BIONICLE ended, I have about 7-fold the amount I had in 2010. Though NIB? Hmm. The last NIB BIONICLE set I opened was Rahkshi Stars, which I got in September.

Chirox was my last set, although there were a few other sets which I bought for other people (Toa Lhikan & Kikanalo, Boggarak, Keerlerak, Ehlek, Zesk, Vorox, STARS Tahu, STARS Rahkshi, & a few Bohrok and Rahaga, & Toa Nuva [can't remember which]), which would make the STARS Rahkshi the last one I bought.

It was either the Stars Takanuva or rahkshi, sometime during the tail end of 2010. I bought them with a Lego gift-card I had received for that Christmas/birthday, I think. The only reason I went with the rahkshi was because Tahu was sold out at the time, and I figured I'd be collecting them all at some point anyway (never did, though...).

Hmmm, can't fully remember as it was three and a half years ago, but it was probably STARS Skrall.

One of the Protectors. Or if we're just talking G1, probably one of the Stars. I didn't have a lot of gaps in my collection so haven't felt any pressing need to "complete" my collection since the theme ended.

Plus, once Hero Factory shifted to the new building system, those sets gave me a level of satisfaction that old-school BIONICLE sets struggled to deliver. Classic BIONICLE wasn't bad, but it felt very "been there, done that" and I had been dabbling in it for years. The Character and Creature Building System in 2011 gave me an opportunity to learn to MOC all over again, but without the inconvenience of snapping joints or the frustration of parts of a model not being stylistically consistent.

I can fully understand why people who didn't really take to the new building system (or who just avoided Hero Factory on principle) might have felt pressured to go back and buy older BIONICLE sets, whether for MOCs or just for that kinesthetic feeling of putting a set together. But Hero Factory really put that urge to rest for me for as long as it was around. And now that BIONICLE is coming back and using the same building system, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds!

You have no idea how much joy is absent from building the CCBS sets for myself compared to the original Bionicle. I've been buying a whole bunch of bootleg Bionicles for the experience.

Believe me, I understand! It's a different experience. If it weren't different, I would not enjoy the new system so much more than the old system. And it's impossible to change things so substantially without SOME people preferring the way they were before.

It was the Tahu stars. While i would have loved for the first set I opened to have been Tahu Mata so that I could have had an oddly symbolic full-circle moment, i'm 90% sure the first set I opened was one of the mctoran, and I opened Tahu within the next hour or so. Oh well.

I think it was Brutaka... I'm sort of in the 20+ age range, so naturally I stopped a few years before Bionicle G1 ended, but I still kept up with the story etc. Most of my stuff is packed up. Now I roam around on here making unusual comments and occasionally post art here and there. lol (Some of which is not always accepted. lol) But I do indeed try... to be somewhat amusing, even if I am the only one who is laughing. lol

The last sealed sets I opened were Nektan and the Rahkshi of Heat Vision from the STARS line. I was shopping for CCBS parts in the TRU at the nearest mall last year, and oddly enough, they still had those two sets on the store shelves.

The last set I (re)opened was Toa Mahri Jaller, and that was about two months ago.
