Toa Mangai of the Green's Weapon Poll

 So Greg says it is fine by him for us to have a weapon poll. Some loud fans think that these should be more organized, so here is how this one is going to go down. We give suggestions, we discuss and see if anything contradicts canon or of any sort. Then after that has been settled we take the weapon list to Greg and asks if he outright denies anything. After than, all approved weapons will be put into a poll where we will then can vote. Sounds good?

 

Only seconded suggestions will be added.

This Toa is basically the Toa of Fan Canonizations. I bet Greg is probably gonna agree for us to vote on its name.

I suggest...Vine Gloves 

 

The're gloves that shoot out long, spiky vines from the fingers. The user can control how long, or how spiky, the vines are.

They would be great for scaling tall structures (in this case, the Dragon's hide). Since he's the Toa of The Green, he can use his elemental energies to make the vines flame-retardant.

Well, since I just finished a post in the other topic talking about when not to canonize something... I actually kinda sorta think this is one thing that maaaaybe shouldn't be canonized. Then again, having judged entries for Memoirs that had to awkwardly write about not knowing even the basic idea of some Toa's tools, I can see a good case for them (though so far as we have planned we're not going to run into that problem again for actual canon contests... still, the community concept of having canon established could work here).

 

But I dunno, I think I'm probably just being over-generous to the people that don't want Gen1 to get more of these sorts of details. I don't think it's likely to harm much for this one.

 

 

And in that light, I've always loved the idea of Toa not only using metal things (especially not just silver, even though I love that color), and Nikila's wooden-looking staff was a welcome change. So (and not just because he's a Toa of Plants, though that helps), I vote, something wooden. Probably not a staff this time since that's been done.

 

Exactly what, I don't know.

I'll also add in the Energy Extraction Rifle, just because I want to hear what a certain someone is going to say. Though I also think it would be cool if he had a Xian weapon, or any weapon that is no just some plant related thing.

How about a mace made/claw weapon shaped like a Fikou? The mouth of the Fikou has a pole, the legs are the spikes and the backside is the rounded mask.

Seconding bones' "something wooden" movement, although I'd be okay with it being a staff, since -- while the staff may be overused in Bionicle in general -- there are very few Toa who use them

Ooh, I like that. And he has extra control over the whip since he's a Toa of the Green. That'd be something we really haven't seen in Bionicle before.

I think I'd have to go with a big battle ax. Not quite as big as Axxon's, and more leafy (maybe something similar to Vastus' scythe). Though it does seem ironic that a Toa who controls plants (including trees) wields an ax (that chops down trees).

Sometimes, it's the silly things in life that matter the most.
 
I'd like to say, I'm in favor for anything relating to vines. Even if it's not the weapon I suggested, I would still be content with having a vine-based tool as the winner. It would be really awesome to see a Toa climbing on buildings Dr. Octopus style using his weapon.

Plus, as the team's medic, he would have to be able to get around quickly to heal his injured comrades. What better way than vine travel?

How about a Bamboo staff and a Kanoka launcher? He shouldn't use his weapons much in my opinon, but focus more on using his plant-control powers.

Considering he is mostly a healer I would make a fireproof madu staff with a few small protosteel blades coming from the to and two opposite sides

I do think he should use his vines from the staff to get up to places

Well of a Toa of Green with the Mask of Healing, I would think this Toa would have something of a light weapon.

I guess that Greg wanted the 11th Toa Mangai to be something made canon by the fans as a Christmas gift for all of us.

Also, come to think of it, if this Toa were a Healer or whatever, a shield would make sense, but I feel that we have seen that a lot in the past and it would be cool to see another weapon like the Jungle Longbow or Wooden Staff be utilized.

Are we getting into too much detail here? This Toa has never made an appearance before... probably never will, and we know more about this single Toa than any of the other minor Toa Mangai.

That said, this is about as far away from organization as it can get. With Kanohi, at least (and I'm still not happy with the way that turned out, quite frankly, and this doesn't look to be any better) there's a dedicated list. With this, the possibilities are essentially endless, so what exactly is the scope and focus here? Is there any? All I'm seeing are a bunch of random options, half of which came from the topic starter. I'd love to know if there's any sort of direction to this, because if it's just chaos, I'll stay out of it.

Why not a Toa tool that isn't primarily a weapon? 

And now I shall hypocritically suggest that they use a machete sorta weapon, 'cause cutting through dense foliage and a jungle theme go together well

Alternatively, a sling or something. I like the idea others have suggested of making their own weapons, and a sling is very improvised projectile friendly.

There ya go. And maybe this should be the first option, and written in a conspicuous way, just to be as fair as possible to it.

 

If by chance most people did vote for this, I think Greg would respect it. Or maybe even if it was a sizeable enough minority. Maybe this should be a standard practice for future canonization polls?

 

 

Edit: I also have to agree with Dorek... at least assuming some of this wasn't meant in jest. Maybe only options that get some seconding or whatever in here should go to the poll. Then again, I've done polls like this and that kind of project can turn into a very difficult workload fast. So maybe within reason (and number of poll options possible) just try to include everything suggested and if people don't like 'em, they can just leave it with no votes (or one vote lol). I dunno.

Kanohi and Element both had limited choices. I don't trust a committee this large to come up with any good answer to such an open-ended question. In short, I'm out.

but i agree with what some people have been saying on here: with kanohi and element, we could pick from a dedicated and predetermined list. however, with toa tools, it's far too open ended and seems rather pointless to me. i vote we create an "unspecified" option, basically meaning we don't pick what his tools were.
