However, one day, that peace was temporarily disrupted when a stranger came to the island. A mysterious warrior sought out ultimate power, and in turn, he came to the mask makers' forge for a request. He sought to have the strongest mask they had to be brought to him, so he would be unstoppable. however, the Mask makers denied his request, and, out of anger from being denied, he forcefully tried to take the mask of control. the battle was pretty one sided, and Makuta was about to deliver the final blow, despite Ekimu's requests. However, as soon as the stranger was about to meet his maker, a villager burst into the forge. He explained that raiders were attacking the island, and the stranger had an idea. He made a deal with the mask makers, that if he fought off the raiders, they would give him the most powerful mask they had. The Mask makers agreed, and the Stranger dispatched the raiders with ease. shortly after the celebrations were over, The stranger returned to the forge to seek his prize. Ekimu handed him his mask he sought after, but when he put it on, his body was seized with incredible pain. as a price for what he had initially done to try and seize power, the mask he had put on granted him unlimited power, but at a terrible price. Every time he used the mask's ability to combat his enemies, It would make him less organic, until he was a cold, emotionless machine. His soul was converted into a black rose, and every time he used his power, a petal would fall off. once it was no more than a bare stalk, he would cease to exist. Shortly after this revelation, he fled the forge and into the wilderness.
