Well, we never got to see a Matoran or Toa without their mask in any of the Bionicle films, so...

Knowing the name of the set would help, but the only evidence is the box, which has what appears to be some sort of East Asian language on it.

I know I said this already but still want to know if anyone owns these atrocities. By "where were we supposed to see this" It's surprisingly one of the first things that come up in images when Googling "Bionicle 2015".

I'm also surprised that people have apparently not noticed this. I thought the old "Blocko" Bionicle ripoff line was common knowledge, and I've seen quite a few people already who've compared the look of that one to Gali's 2015 incarnation. >.>
(People have also compared Drake or whatever the red one's called to Tahu, which I can't really see? Definitely Tahu Nuva, not 2015.)

This was a Chinese toy called Final Fighter from around 2004 or so made to resemble Bionicle without using actual lego molds.
Some of them are prety original, but many of them are made to look like specific Bionicle toys if you squint.

I wouldn't say there's an "almost scary comparison"... it's a blue figure with a silver weapon and a mask that has a partial resemblance to Gali's. It isn't close to exactly the same by any means. (What does ITS stand for?)

I say almost scary since its hard to think they may have took a little inspiration from someone stealing ideas from their company.

This is quite the coincidence, I think—although it'd be interesting to see if this is the LEGO designers' preferred method of sticking it to the bootleggers.
 
(A possibly relevant side note: that particular Tumblr user is disliked by the Tumblr side of the fandom for their re-posting of others' creations without due credit, even when reminded repeatedly, so I'd take that blog with a grain of salt.)

They're bootlegs, so they're going to be pretty obscure. Your best bet is just to keep an eye on eBay and hope you get lucky.

I think some of these look great - certainly loads better than direct cheap Lego knock-offs. The piece design and overall look are not bad at all.

These actually look pretty cool for bootlegs... I actually don't know if bootleg is the perfect word here, but they're very original for rip-offs. They're a tad bit funky, but still interesting to say the least.

I searched to see if they had this on Ebay. Nothing showed up. Amazon didn't either.

I'm not sure that there's a significant market for bootlegs like these that don't exactly resemble the actual sets.

 My friend, after I managed to buy the red and blue "Toa" and the "rahkshi" on eBay about 7 years ago, I have been SCOURING the internet for the yellow and green Toa. I've NEVER been able to get my hands on them. If you get your hands on some, I'll buy them for twice what you paid.

 

I regularly search ebay. I've used google image search to go to every website that has the images of the sets, and all I've ever been able to find are shady chinese/russian wholesale sites. I've emailed several over the years, hoping for the opportunity to just buy a handful of sets, but never hear back. I've googled every name ("Final Fighter" is one of about 6 names the sets are known by,) and I've googled every manufacturer name ("Blocko" is one of 2 or 3 names,) and I've never been able to find any for sale.

 

So, long story short, unless you fly to Russia and go through every flea-market personally, you aren't getting your hands on them.    ...     Which is a real shame, because the masks from the red and blue Toa sets are fabulous for MOCing.

Most of the parts are not compatible, but there are ways around that. You'll see pictures of some parts that are usable. Unfortunately, their ball joints do not fit snugly in Lego sockets. 

 

Again, if anyone has the yellow or green masks, I'll give you my right kidney and firstborn child.
