Welcome to voting for the seventh Storyline & Theories contest: Memoirs of the Dead! First, please vote in this poll before voting here. With that out of the way, make sure you read the entry in this category before voting. The voting will close on Thursday April 30, hopefully giving plenty of time to read the entries if you haven't already. [uPDATE: The administration has decided to reduce the amount of time for voting due to little activity since the initial voting. The new deadline is Thursday, March 5.] Note that not every category will have a winner; see the linked poll for details.

I liked Rising. It was cool to see that Toa of Plasma that was mentioned in a throwaway line back in 2006.

I don't have anything against Toa Makao's story, but I'm voting against it. The story doesn't contribute anything major to Zaktan's biography or give a really deep insight into his character. More importantly, Zaktan turned out not to be dead, and I think the winning stories should go to characters who actually did pass away.

He survived longer than initially thought, but only to become part of the Gold-Skinned Being. He is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

My main problem with this entry is that it does not "share with [us] [his] rise from slavery to slave owning." Rather, it gives us four vignettes, of which only the first is part of his advancement. Legacy of Evil already presents us with a pretty good picture of how he got where he did. If this entry had simply concerned his time in the mines, it would have worked as an important reminiscence on his part. As it is, it fails to achieve what it set out to do, and seems, with all due respect to Toa Makao, rather pointless to me.

Er, I don't see too much cause for controversy here. Let the voters decide.

Personally I think that entry is quite well-written, and the story about the slave-owning was well written as well. We did have some problems with that in judging IIRC, but I thought those were fixed. :shrugs:

While it's certainly okay to vote based on Zaktan not really being dead, please remember the concept of the contest was characters believed to be dead at the time it launched. I would argue it's not really fair to judge this entry based on information that we learned later, that he wasn't dead. In-story, you could view it as living characters collecting the memoirs of those they believed dead at that time. :)

As for his now being dead in a sense due to being part of the Golden Skakdi fusion, I think that's debatable but is beside the point.
