BIONICLE in the Latest LEGO Club Magazine

The latest LEGO Club Magazine is making its way to American inboxes and inside you will find a good portion of BIONICLE content. The magazine itself contains an interview with Senior Design Manager Cerim Manovi that you can read online (pages 10-11) and some cool concept art. That's not all, though, as the magazine also contains a small booklet dedicated entirely to BIONICLE! We already reported on a mysterious mask shown on the back yesterday but now scans of the entire booklet have appeared. There is even a mention of the Mask of Time! Check it out and keep your eye on your mailbox!

I would very much like to know what the bottom three pictures on the left side depicts.

Why is there an ordinary Kakama, and what's with the Hau, and what the feck is the last one? It looks like it should maybe be Ekimo but that does not look like the mask of creation.

Am I missing something obvious, or am I just stupid?

It may just be me, but the bottom half of the weird last mask sort of looks like the Vahi when you stare at it a while.

To all BIONICLE fanfiction writers - send me your work, I'd genuinely love to read it - especially canon compliant pieces. I'm always looking for more such material to read and to circulate with my friends.

A really cool mini-pamphlet for Bionicle with lots of great art! Awesome CG renders, concept art and model photos. Loved reading more information, and the confirmation of the Mask of Time is exciting to say the least. Interesting to read about the Golden Masks as well. :) Cool teaser on the back for Summer 2015 (already? :P )! Don't know how I feel about Pohatu's description though...

The interview was quite nice. Those concept Kopaka masks are fantastic.

Did Lego use prototype models for the Protector page? The colors are all wrong on them.

I don't think so, but some colors (especially translucent ones) are slightly off in the CGI LEGO uses for the magazine sometimes. It's not the first time characters looked strange there. Edited by Gatanui

I just received my magazine today! Fantastic issue. I loved the interview with BIONICLE design manager Cerim Manovi and the BIONICLE magazine that came packaged with this issue. Incidentally, it's hard to tell from the photos and scans that have been posted online, but the Mask of Creation on the front cover and the mystery mask on the back cover are glossier than the rest of the cover, which is a very neat effect. The concept art in both magazines provides a fascinating glimpse at the development process for the BIONICLE reboot, and there are some wonderful new story details like how the villagers have used their masks to shape the island over the years or how the Protectors used the Mask of Time to summon the Toa.

The BIONICLE 2015 spread that forms the magazine's centerfold is a little bit underwhelming. Like some similar spreads we've gotten in the regular LEGO Club Magazine, the rendering quality is a little bit lackluster, which is most apparent with blended or transparent parts. And the poses for some of the Toa feel a little bit awkward. Still, the overall quality of the magazine is great, and the pages for the Toa and Protectors have new character renders with much better poses.

Does anyone notice the similarities between the new mystery mask and the skull spider masks? The same forehead ridges, the weird bit under the eyes, and the weird nose? It most definitely has skull influences at the least.

In the time before time, the Great Spirit descended from the heavens, carrying with him the ones called the Matoran, to this island paradise. We were separate and without purpose, so the great spirit blessed us with the Three Virtues: Unity, Duty and Destiny. We embraced these gifts and in gratitude named our home Mata Nui, after the great spirit himself.

I like the information and concept art being shown in the magazine. Although there aren't anything new to me much, but okay. The Mask of Ultimate Power is new and looks cool. Plus, it's interesting to hear about the Mask of Time being used to summon the Toa.:)

Man I wish I was still subscribed to the LEGO Mag. Maybe I'll pick this magazine up later... not really a comic but definitely assumes that position in my eyes. xD

I think that MoC Mask is the Golden Mask of the Skull Spiders. And as for the old masks, I don't know why they would put concept art in a magazine that all kids will see. They won't know what it is, unless there older like us. Or maybe Gen 2 DOES have ties to Gen 1. O_O And with the Mask of Time? I don't know..

Those three images are all concept art (presumably Ekimu and the new versions of Tahu and Pohatu).

We actually already saw the Tahu mask concept in the NYCC presentation.
