BIONICLE in University

So I'm going to make a presentation about vector graphics and vector animation in university in a week. Naturally, I'd like to pay BIONICLE some tribute so I'm going to show off one of the Templar animations in the beginning (among other things). However, Templar has done so much awesome stuff that I cannot really decide! So I figured I should ask for your opinions. Keep in mind the animation should be reasonably short (so unfortunately the Bohrok or Bohrok-Kal episodes are out of the question) and it should show off what Flash animation can do. Also, since I'm going to stand around while presenting the animation should not involve much clicking or any at all if possible and of course, I need to keep in mind my listeners will in all likelihood know nothing about BIONICLE so I don't want to bore them with an animation that may be awesome to us fans but make no sense to someone who can't figure out what's going on.

I was considering, for example, the animation where Jaller finds Tahu in the Charred Forest or one of the Vahki animations. What do you think?

You should include the short bit where Tamaru is acting like he is flying in an airplane. That's my favorite scene in all of MNOG.

But in all seriousness, I would consider the scene where Gali's Nuva Symbol appears in the last of the Bohrok animations. That always looked like it was done well to me.

I guess I should have mentioned this; I don't really want to spend my time decompiling and recompiling Flash files so I would like to use one of the animations in its entirety and not just a short snippet of it. Thank you for your feedback, though!

Sounds like a plan. I'd personally recommend the scene where the Matoran find Tahu in the forest, since it's got some decent animation and stands fairly well on its own.

It might be worth your while to mention or feature Homestar Runner as well, it being one of the earliest and most successful Flash-based web cartoons.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Lewa vs Onua is easily one of my favorite animations Templar has ever done but would someone unfamiliar with BIONICLE really know what's going on?

I dunno, I would think some of the Vahki animations. They have some interesting scene changes, running charactors, ext. The Keerahk one, especially, has that bit with the ice reflecting the text in different ways. Nice and short, generally good use of music, and not overly reliant on story details to explain what's happening.

I haven't seen all the flash animations from Bionicle's early years. But that I seen the one with Tahu and the Matoran meeting in the Charred Forest. That is a really cool scene IMO, so I would recommend that one.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

Yeah, I have to say, for what you're doing the Vahki animations are probably the best. They're designed to pack spectacle and a story in a very small package. Not to mention, they came at the end of Templar's run, and feature some of their most impressive visual techniques.

I really like the flow of Bordakh and Rorzakh, personally. Nuurakh is nice from a storytelling perspective, but not much happens in it. As xccj said, the ice reflections in Keerakh are seriously impressive.

believe victims. its actually not that hard, and youd look kind of bad if you were to, say, side with an abuser because theyre your friend

Oh my god I miss Homestar Runner.

I like the idea. I'm going to say either the infected Lewa scene or Tahu's first appearance.
