I wonder if it will be a sort of keystone that lets the wearer control the SS. Sort of like the Heart of the Visorak but more precise?

 

Have powers for the other Golden Kanohi been revealed yet? I know in the original story a Golden Kanohi contained the powers of all six masks, but I doubt they'd do that this time since the mask powers are directly tied to the elemental powers. Sense, that would not make.

The way I see it is like the distinction between a Noble and Great Kanohi--same power, different level. The normal masks they wear (i.e. Tahu's red Mask of Fire) are the "Noble" versions and the Golden masks are the "Great" version.

WAIT A MINUTE, I just thought of something. The Skull Spiders currently have individual powers of their own reminiscent of the original Toa Matau masks: strength (blue), x-ray vision (green), and speed (silver). Perhaps the Golden SS Mask gives one all three of these powers (plus whatever other types of SS they release in the summer)?

So far, no. We know it controls the spiders, and that seems to be it. In another topic, though, the nature of the skull spiders' powers was discussed, and yes, it does seem they are reminiscent of the G1 Kanohi. I even suggested the idea that one of the Toa (Lewa) might tame the parasite rather than be controlled by it this time around, and form a Mata Nui/Click sort of relationship with it, allowing it to ride on his face in exchange for the use of its powers. Thought it might make for a good comedy.

Yes, I agree. But Golden Mask of Skull Spiders seems to be the G2 equivalent of the Makuta's Insect Control power--and it's limited to a bunch of freaky spiders with weird powers.

Um... no it doesn't. X Ray Vision is one of the best powers to give these spiders.

 

If they are hunting down hapless villagers and trying to prevent the Toa from reaching the Golden Masks, wouldn't it make sense for them to see the Toa coming from behind a wall or something? It would explain how they show up whenever a villager or Toa approaches a mask pedestal.

Perhaps it will be like the Helm of Darkness in Ninjago. If a Toa (or Protector) steals the GMotSS and puts it on, then the Skull Spiders will not be "evil" anymore. Just a thought.

I like the X-Ray power that the Skull Spiders have. It reminds me of the spiders in Minecraft, which used to see the player through walls. Even if it's not the most sensible power to give a spider, it's certainly not going to impede them.

It's interesting to note that the three Skull Spiders seem to have the powers of the original Toa's masks - Speed, Strength and X-Ray vision.

I only have 5 of the golden mask, but I don't put them on most of the Master because they are a eye sore (like Kopaka silver chest armor).

 

Also do anyone think Lego will go on with putting a golden mask in sets, or will this just be a one time thing only for now.

I agree that Kopaka doesn't look so great with his gold mask, but do you really feel that way about the other Toa? I think it looks great on Onua (and probably Tahu but I don't own him), and at least okay on Gali, Pohatu, and Lewa.

 

Good question though. LEGO seems intent on including a lot of masks with each set, so if we don't get gold masks in the future then I hope they come up with some creative alternative.

I think the gold masks look good on Tahu, Pohatu, and Lewa so far, but it drowns out the white on Kopaka. I don't have Gali or Onua (yet), but I hope they look great. The gold mask of the skull spiders is also a great mask to have. It just seems to complete the collection.
