New Bionicle Episode Released

Recommended Posts

Last night the fourth Bionicle episode was released over on LEGO's website. The Protectors Fight Back highlights the Protector of Fire and Tahu attempting to retrieve the gold Mask of Fire. Apparently the protectors are no slackers when it comes to fighting skull spiders - do their gatling launchers ever run out of ammo? I look forward to seeing more of these!

I love that animation! But it's a shame that right now, we got basically no where in the story (though we did learn that Tahu is afraid, and not ready to be a leader).

Hopefully, the next episode shows POF getting attacked by a Skull Spider, and Tahu using the Golden Mask to save him.

I'm loving these animations so far! It's really nice to have the story told coherently in an accessible format. (Compare to, say, 2005, where the story was told via exclusive comics, novels, and a direct-to-DVD movie, and... none of them really fit together)

My only gripe so far is the narrator - he needs to stick to narration. His voice acting skills are cringeworthy.

This was a good episode, although based on the title I was really hoping to see more of the other Protectors, and not just more of Tahu and the Protector of Fire. The little clips at the beginning showed us even less about them than the montage from the previous episode.

Also, I'm a little bit disappointed that the Toa actually getting their golden masks is altered/abbreviated compared to the character videos, since it cuts out some great moments like Onua's hopscotch across the floating crystals or Tahu's lava-surfing skull spider smackdown. I was actually kind of hoping that the Toa would not reach their golden masks until the next episode.

Meh, nice to see another instalment but for me it just feels like thy're dragging it out because they don't have enough content to last up to the summer wave...

Also why did the protectors need the Toa again? The PoF must have easily taken out 100 ss single handedly in this vid and they weren't even able to make any ground on his position. Of course he's in trouble now the ammo is gone but that was a seriously OP protector.

I don't like it at all, as all previous episodes. Tahu doesn't look like a real leader, he looks like someone, who don't understand where is he and what he need to do. Also this annoying minigun shot sound, it remember me blasters from Star Wars. I don't think, that such details suit Bionicle atmosphere (even for 2015 year). Skull spiders movement look terrible, something like FPS 5. :/
I hope in future we will see something different from this one.

He doesn't look like a real leader because he isn't a leader at all yet. However, I'm sure we will see Tahu mature to fill in that role. Everyone starts out somewhere.

Really digging these animations.

Really not digging this narrator.

Agreed. The animations look gorgeous but the narrator is quite annoying and over the top sometimes. Edited by Gatanui

The animation in this webisode was beautiful. But I wish we didn't have to see this fetch-quest all over again, and I would've enjoyed seeing the PoF use the elemental power he helped 'shape Okoto' with.

The narrator is a huge nerd and I love his take on delivery.

It feels like someone's dad is telling this story and he really wants his kids' friends to like him because it's been really hard to connect since the divorce but he's really trying, man

Am I the only one who started laughing when I heard "I CAN FEEL THE POWER"?

Tahu is going to turn into He-Man if he isn't careful.

I already made that joke on the official 2015 topic.

Oh, yeah sorry I hadn't read that yet.

I wonder if the narrator noticed too

Mantax can win connect four in three moves.

I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of those animations, sure the animation itself is nice but it really doesn't tell the story that well, I really am looking forward to the graphic novels so the story can be explained in more detail.

It's time to move on.

This was a great episode IMO. It has great animation and I like how the PoF held off the spiders so Tahu could get his mask.

But this does make me ask this question; how much ammo do those guns hold? The Protector in this episode did fire more than six shots, so we knows its more than what the set version can fire at one time. But we also know that it didn't unlimited, since he ran out of ammo.

I would say that it could hold 15 to 20 rounds before needing to be reloaded. Though that is just a guess on my part.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

It was as great episode!:) I do love the new face expressions from the Protector of Fire and Tahu. Tahu made a funny surprised face, and how he surfed on lava was epic. I am impressed to see that the Protector still went commando as he used his gatling gun against the Skull Spiders, even though he ran out of ammo. Poor guy.

Although I feel that there should be more obstacles for the other Protectors and other Toa and center them, rather than just the Protector of Fire and Tahu, as I heard there should be a lot of webisodes coming up, but this new episode is one of my favorites, the other about Tahu's arrival.:)

It is not Bionicle style, IMHO. In all previous cases leader existed from the beginning (even Vakama isn't a funk, he's just not sure in some things).

That's probably because right now, that's exactly what he is.

...Not really. I mean, when the Toa Mata first got together, they certainly didn't recognize Tahu as a leader. They were extremely headstrong and all wanted to do things their own way. I don't know when it was exactly that they chose Tahu as a leader, but it certainly wasn't in 2001.

I don't understand why there's this playing up of Tahu's abilities. As of right now, all that's happened is

  • He fell literally out of the sky
  • Put on his face
  • He accidentally punched a spider
  • A tiny guy took off his robe and told him he was their savior
  • He climbed a really big mountian
  • Surfed on Lava with absolutely no knowledge that he should be able to

He has no fire powers yet, no experience and no practical knowledge of anything. He is literally just a dude duding it up until he can figure things out on his first three hours of spontaneously existing.

At a similar point of character development, Luke Skywalker had only just showed the audience his sweet used-robot bartering skills and the typical young boy's desire for power converters.

I really wish the episodes were a few minutes longer. While I enjoyed the content, I would've liked to see the other Toa for more than just 2 seconds. That said, I enjoyed it. The running bit was quite funny and the narm with the way the narrator plays the PoF and Tahu's "I CAN FEEL DA POWAH!" was hilarious, if a bit facepalm-ish. I don't really like the way he portrays most characters except Tahu, Pohatu and Onua but the PoF was hilariously narmy this time. I just hope that the books do what they did back in 2003 and take these scenes in-depth.

It is being said in the beginning of the episode that the Toa and Protectors traveled for weeks.
