Vraiment
Hi Today I finally build my Kikanalo set that arrived last week and put it together. While I build it following the instructions available at lego.com I noted something: The beams used in the upper part of the legs were not the correct size, they should be beams with 11 pin holes and the ones I got with the set have 9 pin holes. Yet you can build without problems using the beams with 9 pin holes. Then I went to ReBrickable to mark the parts as lost and I saw the set contains only one beam with 11 pin holes (used in the torso) and two with 9 pin holes. BrickLink also contains this same amount of pieces. Are the instructions wrong? Links:Instructions @ lego.com (pages 17 and 22)ReBrickableBrickLinkPS: TOPIC 13000 of Bionicle Discussion!!!!! Munty
Wait what? I've come across this several times. Sets that I've dismantled have used the 11 long liftarms instead of 9 so I've swapped them out for the 'correct' 9s according to bricklink where I do all of my partchecking. I always though it had just been put together wrong or something but now I'm not so sure either! Checked your link to the instructions and I gotta say if it shows 11s in there that MUST be correct. Someone must have inventoried it wrong. I'll correct it on Bricklink tomorrow as this is something that's tripped me up on more than one occasion now. In fact I literally JUST sold one of these last week and swapped out the 11s for 9s Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!! Vraiment
It might be some shipped with incorrect parts? Quote Came for the sets, stayed for the story.
Munty
Hmm, just checked Bricklink to edit this listing and it does actually have an alternate part listed at the bottom of the page. This usually suggests the set was altered at some point during it's original run. Like when the Kraahakan in the Tower of Toa playset was changed from Flat Dark Gold to Pearl Light Gold. So it would seem both are technically correct! You learn something everyday huh?! IcarusBen
What's the difference between Flat Dark and Pearl Light? Quote LEGO Republic:The ValkyrieThe "Christmas Brick" My BZPRPG Profiles Now a proud member of The Kanohi Force
Munty
Flat dark is far duller and less reflective. Flat dark gold is the colour of takanuva's armour in the 2003 set. Pearl light gold is much brighter but can't think of other sets that use it as an example. Maybe a visorak body was PLG but probably FDG...
