Looking for ThrowBots/Slizers disks

Recommended Posts

Heh, that's my picture, and no, I'm not selling them. :P

There were actually generally cheap to find on Bricklink, with them going for around $0.30 to $1, which is cheaper than most Kanohi masks go for. The problem is few stores have a large quantitiy of them, so if you go by that method, you will need to make multiple purchases from different places. A few of the styles are only availible in Europe, and at least one doesn't currently have any listed at the moment. I found that completing this collection was cheaper than completing a Kanohi or Krana collection, but it takes some time, especially when waiting for a particular disc to show up for sale.

Some of the discs are harder to find than others. In relation to the photo above, the top two rows of the first eight columns were discs that came with the original eight Slizer / Throwbot sets, and the column on the far right all came with the third wave of Slizers (plus the black disc with the world printed on it came with Millenium). Those discs are easier to find (and cheaper) cause they came in sets. All the rest were only availible through the blind disc packs, which were not made widely availible. Those are the ones that will be harder to find.

Good luck on your collection!

I have a whole bunch of these! I'll have to look them out though and I imagine many of them go with sets I have. I've been toying with the idea of keeping a full set of Slizers and Throwbots as part of my collection lately (seeing as they were Bionicle's predecessors. Will have a look when I can and help you out if possible, though that stunning pic of xccj's collection is really making me want one of my own :o

I actually own the FULL Throwbot collection except by Flare's "ship" (my brother lost it) and the disks that didn't came in sets.

That means I have the two top rows and the last column disks and I need the disks from the third row to the last (ignoring the last column).

Last time I checked BrickLink I didn't find any and I concluded that they were VERY HARD to find. My main page of eBay shows the latest results from "Throwbots" and it doesn't show any disks.

Another issue is, getting things across the Pacific is not cheap, so I think I will need to find an European "proxy" that helps me receive and store the disks and then send them all together :/

Came for the sets, stayed for the story.

This topic has piqued my interest, I'm going to look out my bag o disks. I'm also happy to act as proxy if it would help although I'm in the UK so may not be as cheap on shipping for you as a mainland Euro sort :P

EDIT : Seems I only have 10 unique disks, very disappointing! I have one duplicate but it's a set one (R1,C2) so you already have it. I only have a maximum of 4 that you may need. What's the gold one in the bottom right corner? Is it from the 'Boss' set or something? I recall that but don't think I have it, though I do have the disk...

EDIT AGAIN : Seems you were looking in the wrong place on Bricklink as it seems almost every single one is for sale right now and some for as little as 1p :D Try looking again. Use this page as a portal. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=2&catString=514&catType=P Hope that helps with your search!

heh, i have a (or maybe the :D ) complete TB/SL collection (incl. the "ships") ^^ i also have tons of spare disks... and ships... and TB/SL :D

i was lucky to get many "7 pips" in one order... it was a great moment to finally get the last one (dunno which one was that, though x) ...)

i also have a near-complete collection of roboriders - all the sets + most of the wheels - i actually have a lot of the golden ones, possibly i'm the only one (or one in very few) to have so much of them 8-) these are the only ones from which i'm still missing a few

no one was paying any attention to them, but they're cool in their own way, i'd say...

"The Boss" is from the RoboRiders series, the gold one is from "Millenia", a pretty cool ThrowBot with a motorcycle. Thanks for the link, I swear that back when I look for them there was only one of each in a closed store. And thanks for the "proxy" offering, I will take it into account if there is something I want badly to bring from the UE.

Personally, Throwbots > RoboRiders, they are cool and everything but Throwbots have a special something in the same way Bionicle has its own special something. Is such a shame that the story is so lossely told. Do you have a spare orange "ship"?

How much are you willing to pay?

I have a full set including every disk in that picture. Note: that picture is missing one glow in the dark disk in the last column, which I have. I also have prototype unprinted tan, black, and gold disks. Here's a big picture, look in the lower left corner.

That's a nice collection.

I do have such disk. Might I ask what is for sale from that photo? Are you from America or EU?

I hate to post this here, but it looks like you can't receive PMs, Sidorak. I'm interested in the prototype black and gold disks, if Vraiment doesn't go for them or if you have multiples. Would you mind sending me a PM at your convenience?

Thanks!

That is an amazing collection Sidorak! And here I was feeling close to completion, I have a long way still to go :D I thought I had a pm from you in my inbox somewhere that I could reply to but it seems I don't... I'd love to bend your ear about some of the pieces you have (or at least had when that picture was taken!) Drop me a pm if you have time to trade stories with a fellow collector :P

Sent you a PM kind sir!

You wouldn't be interested in any of the actual Throwbot sets would you? I have one available, long with some Slizer parts if you're interested.

No thanks, I have the complete sets set. The only things I need to complete this collections are the orange ship and the disks with more than 3 "pips".

I'm in the US. PM me individually to inquire about other deals, I don't want to derail this topic. As of now I still have the Throwbot disks, RoboRider wheels, prototype Jala + Vakama, most of the masks, and some other cool stuff that's not pictured. I only have one copy each of the unprinted tan, black, and gold disks. I just upgraded to a premier membership so you should be able to contact me soon.

huh - I haven't forgotten! Would love to hear from you, email me anytime.

I still can't send you a PM so I will post the prices here:

I'm interested in all the throwbots disks, with more than 3 "pips" or "lights".

Also I'm interested in Bordakh's and Orkahm's disks and all six golden Kanohi masks.

Also I want Panrahk's and Lerahk's kraata any level, level 6 is preferable. I might get them from MC so I'm not so sure of these now.

I'm not good calculating prices but I have BrickLink to help me:

-06.11$ for the throwbots disks
-15.75$ for the golden masks
-00.73$ for the kanoka disks
-02.97$ for the kraatas

That sums up to a total of 24.83$, but let's round it to 25$, is that fine?

Thanks!

I can give you up to 15$ for the whole disks set. The thing is, BrickLink has the disks listed (except for two) and each cost less than a dollar each. The most expensive cost half a dollar. (I'm using the average price here).

Just to poke my head in here - a full set of something is almost always worth more than the sum of the values of its constituents. The total cost of buying those disks on Bricklink might be $15, but the other $35-$85 that Sidorak is asking for is in the time and effort it takes to collect them.

Sidorak, I still can't seem to contact you. Is your PM inbox full perhaps?

In addition to the above, you also have to factor in taxes and shipping from multiple stores. But if it's cheaper to do it through Bricklink, go ahead.

Yes, my inbox is full. I purchased a premier membership earlier today, so my inbox space should be increased soon (?)

I tried to pm you several times yesterday Sid and couldn't get through. Left a message on your feed in the end so take a look when you can :P

Letagi is absolutely right, full sets not only have added value due to being complete but also often come with a decent amount of sentimental value as the seller has probably gone to an awful lot of trouble (and hopefully a lot of fun!) to put said collection together. This topic is building an even bigger case for me to add Throwbots/slizers/robo riders to my own collection. I was previously considering it because they're Bionicle's forebears. Now I realise there are collectibles to be had and I already own most of the sets anyway :D

If I were in your place (Vrai) then I'd certainly be expecting to pay more than $15 for a collection (a handful of disks and postage from one seller will be at least that much or more) but I'd also be trying to get it for less than Sid is selling as that's a collectors price. We may have different goals though, I enjoy the chase so am happy to buy the majority from one bricklink store and the remainder over following months as they become available. Think of it as an integral part of the hobby. It should be fun, not work :D

That's Teresa, she's not a guy :D She also prices things too high so if she's selling for £50 you should be paying around £40 for a full set :P Although to be fair to her that doesn't seem like a hugely unreasonable price for a collector. You can definitely put it together cheaper with a little patience though.

I see why I've never found a listing of her, is from the UK. (Wow, the GBP is expensive)

Maybe I should have said I'm NEW to calculating prices, anyway before I improve the price I have a question:

What do you mean by "collectors price"?

I do find it fun, but my wallet not because of shipping :( .

Finally, -Sidorak- do you happen to have the orange "ship" for the orange throwbot?

Hmm how to explain... I guess it's the difference between normal people who throw out their postage stamps when they've read the letter, enthusiasts who will gather together their favourites in a book and then the big collector who will pay lots of money for those books but often miss out on the enjoyment of collecting.

How you price an item you're trying to sell often indicates which of these groups you fit into and which you're attempting to sell to. I would imagine that Sidorak is asking a fairly high price because HE fits into the collector category and therefore is somewhat attached to the items and also aware of their value both individually and as a set. Teresa on the other hand sells her items for a high price because her target BUYERS are collectors and therefore she knows they'll pay top dollar!

At the other end of the spectrum, I've been holding onto some parts of a car I haven't owned for years so I neither want or need them anymore. I'm out of the loop so not shre of value but wanted quick space and money so I opened them to offers. I sold an intake manifold for £20 which was probably really worth 3 times that and a pair of spotlights for £30, probably half their true value.

If I hadn't needed the space I could have got more money but it would've taken much longer to sell them. So you see there's a whole spectrum out there. It just depends where you place yourself as a buyer. For maximum value and enjoyment I'd suggest you try the Enthusiast spot ;)

If you're talking about the box, yes, but it's packed away in storage somewhere. It's easier for me to access the disks than the sets.

Flintsmith - holding onto that for the moment as it's also packed away, but will be listing it later this year when I move.

Like you said, they have sentimental value. They're all from when these forums were booming, and from members who are no longer active here.

I think we would get on well. I have a drawer upstairs full of old birthday cards and letters. I tried to sort through them recently and in the end put them all back again :D
