Toa Nui - Master of the Elements.

Recommended Posts

After building The Toa Kaita Akamai and Wairuha, I decided there was one more thing I had to do with the new sets -
A Toa Nui.

This model consists of only parts from the six new Toa sets, and is one of my largest MOCs to date.
Features: Gear functions in both arms and legs, spinning blade, and the new head feature if that counts.

When the six Toa unite themselves into one, they become the legendary Toa Nui.
The Toa Nui is an extremely powerful being with the elemental power of six Toa, and it can use them with great control.
He wields a massive sword, and rotating blades which can spin at such high speeds they become a shield. He wears the Kanohi Akirua, the Legendary Mask of Unity.
It's pretty big too, and I'm pretty sure nobody has done this before.

Any feedback is welcome.

The only glaring flaw that I see is the scrawny attachments between the hips and the legs; does he have any trouble standing up? The sword is pretty cool, I think my favorite part on the MOC is its feet. Those axe parts on the side give them a really cool shape, and they look nice and supportive.

He does have a little bit of trouble standing up, but not because of the leg design, it's because of a problem with LEGO's gearbox, where the legs can wobble a tiny bit because of the space between the bits on the gears, but technically that is a flaw on LEGO's part. The leg design itself is quite stable, and every joint has a friction piece. I feel if LEGO had used the old style gears for the Toa, this could have been avoided, as it's a problem which the individual sets also have.

Ah, I know what you're talking about, those 4-pronged cogs can be a bit of a nuisance. I imagine the gearbox for the legs is pretty difficult to use since the legs are so heavy. :P

Yeah. I had to put 3 of those small gears on each side to add friction (using up every possible slot), and even then they don't hold up that well, but it is possible to get the thing standing, you just need to be slightly careful when doing it.

How does this only have two upvotes? This thing is awesome! It looks great, and only has one flaw in my opinion. (The upper legs.) This is a great MOC and has lots of inventive techniques to make the most of the parts from the sets to make a functional and fashionable fusion.

But... to have a mask that could control more than one element...

Taboo!

(I don't get why that "rule" exists.)

Anyway, this is cool to see. I'd agree with several other people about the hip-connections, which, even if they aren't actually wobbly, do certainly look wobbly.

Hmm, Me thinks while cool and an excellent drawback to Gen1 the Above post brings up a viable point. This monstrosity is blasphemous in that it would have to be wearing either the crafted MoUP or equal and that breaks the sacred law about no mask having more then one elemental power. I guess one could say the mask changes based on what element is in use. However no telling if that is what the MoUP would have done had Makuta actually been able to get it under control.

Nice, now my Protector Nui has a friend!

This is a very neat build, I like how you used several of the Toas' weapons to make the sword. The 'feathers' on its shoulders are a nice touch, too.

A very nice MOC, it's got a great appearance!  :)

Congrats to you sir. This is just fantastic, especially with only parts from the Toa.

Although the upper legs look a bit scrawny. I guess there isn't much you can do about that with limited parts though.

EDIT: Never mind, saw your last post.

oops.  :P

Wow! Other than the small leg-attachements, this looks fantastic! I especially like that awesome sword you gave the Toa Nui, because it looks amazing! And you even managed to have gear functions in it! Great job! :D

The size of this is really impressive, even moreso that it can hold itself up with those legs! Friction joints or whatever those pieces are called are amazing. The sword and feet are definitely my favourite parts, I might try and remake the sword just to help with my own weapon designs. The head is small though, but there's nothing you can really do about that, but I like the look of the clear Hau on it (sorry, clear Mask of Fire). Gives it a "radiating with power" feel? And normally the colour scheme would bother me but because it's a Toa-Nui, and because you managed to spread the colours extremely well, everything seems to flow very nicely. Good job on this enormous creation!

Dude I am literally just a fart

More soon maybe?

We'll see...
