Zacian
I have always admired Bionicle animations such as the Toa Mata/Nuva/Bohrok/Rakshi/Mahri/etc animations. But I am starting wonder if they are all made by stop motion with some green screen at the back or are they all just CGI. (Also, I'm not sure of this topic goes here) Edited January 31, 2015 by Kranalien
The 1st Shadow
Most of the animations are CGI. Only a specific few were ever stop-motion. 1 Quote ~Your friendly, neighborhood Shadow ~Credit for Avatar and Banner goes to NickonAquaMagna~
TheSkeletonMan939
Most of the animations had very detailed CGI renderings of the sets themselves. Ghost and Advance did a marvelous job. The Bionicle Stars animations were stop-motion, though. They were done by a guy named Patrick Bolvin. Moku
They're definitely CGI, judging by the ultra-smooth movement and the glowing parts, though indeed a few were stop motion, such as the recent protector-toa combo build videos that were removed. Oh, and I believe this may fit in the BIONICLE Discussion forum rather than General Art. General Art I believe is for showcasing art, rather than discussing it. Then again I could be wrong. 1 Quote BZPRPG Profiles Nekka Banar Moku Savok

Pomegranate
If it looks spectacular, more likely than not there's no way it's stop motion. The Stars and Protector/Toa animations mentioned above are the only stop motion Bionicle ads I remember from the last 15 years. 1 Quote .
Hewkii8730
It's cgi but it would look cool if it was all in stopmotion
Toa Doublebee
when I think "BIONICLE animations" I immediately thing of the mnog animations, so I was rather confused as to what the question here was about I do belive everything said above sums it up pretty well. I myself don't remember much stop motion in BIONICLE.

If you look closely you can see the little screws in the knees and elbows. 2 Quote The artist formerly known as ŜﮞρЄЯ־GЄNіﮞŜ־CЯЄ▲Ŧ۞Я BBC#69 Entry: Roodaka - Master of Manipulation BFTGM entries: Zigben · Ventox · Deflecto “Hail Denmark.”

Nidhiki of the Shadows
I think this really goes to show how fantastic Ghost's CG for Bionicle was. To be honest, I also used to wonder if they incorporated real components as well. -NotS
