The Asylum - IC Topic

IC: Scriva - Colosseum.

"It knew my name, it spoke to me, remember?" she hissed, "There are other Ce-Toa in the Asylum; it doesn't need me hooked up to the Siphon as well. Besides, who else could it have been? Halmos barely knows me, and you didn't do it."

GM IC Nyhe:

"The monster gets it's power from the Toa, remember? The more Toa, the more power. Why would it want to lose power? No... this is something from the outside..."

Nyhe turned to the elevator. "We need to get back to the Asylum... Scriva, I'd advise you, once you're released... Get out of the city for a few days... Until we sort this out..."

After all the chaos, what occured in Solitary, and the departure of a staff member, Kovika went back to the Recreational Area, hoping to find Kuraz there so they could resume their talk.

I felt a bit of shock as Nyhe explained it, it...it hadn't been for surgery? Just a check up for a disease? My face got red as we approached the elevator. Getting thrown into solitary had been absolutely pointless, all Nyhe had done was check for a disease. It made me feel stupid.

IC: "Five-Knuckled" Sal - Hallway

Sal leaned up against a wall nearby the former entrance to Solitary and sunk to the floor, nervously laughing as she wiped the sweat from her brow.

It was good to be alive.

Of course that ungrateful sod Halmos had run off without even thanking her for going back and making sure that his sorry hide got out safely, but that wasn't entirely unexpected, and she was too busy dealing with the adrenaline coursing through her veins to even care. It had been a long time since she had felt this way, the fight in the cafeteria the night before not quite doing it for her, and every fiber of her being didn't want the sensation to end.

Whether or not she eventually wound up winning or losing, she had to find some way to get back into the fight.

It had been more of a question to himself, but Fade's answer only drove Halmos closer to the edge. A piece of rubble shot out from the flames with a pop! and Halmos caught it in his hand.

"If this doesn't end all of Metru Nui will fall apart!" Halmos gritted his teeth and slowly crushed the bit of concrete in his palm into dust, looking at the ruins. He thought for a second, and then turned to Fade. "Organize every single Karzing guard you can. Round up the solitary patients and put them in general cells. I must explain this to Nyhe."

"Alright," he pulled out his radio and started barking out orders. "Find everyone who survived what happened in Solitary, lock them in the general cells, and keep two guards on every karzing one of them at all times. These patients were in solitary for a reason."

IC: Navuru (General)

Well, it appears it IS one of those days. I'm going to be stuck in general confinement for a while. Hopefully the food here will be better than in solitary. If you can call that food.

Wait, why am I hoping for THAT? If what happened in solitary is any indication, I won't have wait centuries to get out. The monster will reduce the asylum to rubble, with not even two bricks left stacked together.

The end WILL be soon. VERY SOON.

I CAN WAIT.

IC Kotak:

The frigid wastes of Ko-Metru suited him well. Far from the knowledge towers and Vahki, he could recover here for a short time. His own powers were returning. He had half a mind to go back to his island.

But he had a responsibility as a Toa. He had to return to the Asylum. But there was someone he needed to see, first.

IC: Iyanu

Iyanu saw it all. He always did. The monster was... different. More slow, more... Stupid. It wasn't the strange beast that was once thought, unbeatable, but now it was a cowardly being that got beaten by a wall.

A wall.

It was less like a goule, and more like a wild animal, trapped, cornered.

Iyanu sighed, and walked back to his cell. He knew what had happened to Kotak. He shook his head and closed the door behind him. He walked up to the back wall, the scribbles now fully around all the walls, most notably the back one. He found a spot in the middle, and sat down crossed-legged. He unsheathed his blade and wrote on the wall:

"Okay... can we get out of here, now?" she didn't like this place. It was all too... big

Nyhe nodded and opened the elevator doors, gesturing for Scriva and Lana to get in after her.

OOC: gonna move things along here, it's turned to a crawl.

GM IC

As Roman's Nyhe's party made its way out of the area, they heard a sudden noise that sounded like a muffled bomb. A flash of light caught their eyes as the right side of the Asylum went up in billowing smoke and flames. Other people waiting by the transport were talking frantically about the matter, some running in circles for absolutely no reason. But their transport was still waiting for them, to take them back.

And to find out what the Karz Halmos had done to the place.

Log entry 2-22349612

Darkness or light?

At the end of construction for the siphon, Nyhe's eyes gleamed brilliantly. It was a masterpiece of electronic and structural design. Halmos stood nearby, his porous cheek a bit swollen from the recent attack on his life. His fingers were numb, and his arthritis was killing him - but the pair had finally done it. It flashed a brilliant purple and lanced the mesmerizing purple lightning from its sides inside the dark dome. Several guards were posted outside the door to the place, armed for anything in the world...

Patient Jorik, a Le-Toa, had been snooping around unmonitored for quite some time, finding out everything he could about the place. He had to be dealt with, and surprisingly, Nyhe was the one who recommended it. But one day, he burst into Halmos' office with a white face and was knocking his knees about. "Th- There's a monster! I-it emm-merged from the siphon door, tore the guards to shreds! I- I- this was all that was left!"

Bringing his hand from behind his back, Halmos almost gasped at the sight of the bloody, beaten mask of one of the guards. Before he could respond, Jorik leaned in, his face growing very red. "What do you have to say? Everything about this place I found out, dear doctor. And I intend to tell everyone about it! what do you have to say to yourself?!"

A few guards arrived and escorted him to solitary. Halmos didn't want to have to kill him, and driving him insane was just morbid, but... It was a very tough decision to make. Finally, he reached to his belt communicator and called the psych ward, across from solitary.

"All right, Nyhe. Do what you want with him."

IC Kotak:

In the remote Ko-Metru chute station, a lone matoran worked diligently. It was imperative that he keep the chutes from freezing, and maintain the pressure so they did not crack or leak.

Today was a slow day for Chute Attendant Talvi. He sat back in his chair, flicking through a magazine and occasionally checking the gauges to make sure all was well. Once or twice, he stood at the control panel, making minute adjustments. He was doing just that when he heard a faint scratching from the hall behind him.

He spun, his pale blue eyes wide behind his dull grey Kakama. He peered into the darkened hall, but saw nothing.

He shook his head, muttering to himself about asking the Turaga for a partner, and returning to his chair.

A shadowy figure stepped out of the darkness, approaching the Ko-Matoran from behind.

As he stepped into the light, Kotak smiled warmly, "Hello, Talvi."

OOC: Gave up on waiting for a Lana post, I guess I'll just bunny everyone back to the Asylum.

IC: Scriva/Nyhe/Fade.

The transport arrived and the trio disembarked, rushing inside to find the head of security waiting patiently for them. "What happened here?" Nyhe demanded the instant she spotted him.

"Solitary got blown up," Fade replied bitterly, not even bothering to hide the anger in his voice.

"How?"

Scriva hung back, trying not to draw attention to herself.

"Why don't you ask doctor Halmos?" Fade spat, "I'm sure his version of events will be absolutely riveting. On the positive side, no one died, and only one patient escaped. Toa Kotak."

A smug smile flashed across Scriva's face. Kotak had gotten out?

Nyhe looked just about ready to explode. "Where the karz is Halmos?"

"Yes, escort Jovik to a General cell immediately." Halmos said In his communicator. "And place three guards over him. We don't need him getting out any more."

Rounding the corner, Halmos saw Nyhe, who was hopping mad at the disappearance of Solitary. Fade was making it worse.

"Fade." Halmos snapped. His real intention was to make him leave the scene. "The security office of yours is now too close to the remains of Solitary for safety, and structurally, it is in danger of collapsing into the rubble. Get some guards and salvage all the electronic equipment from your office immediately."

"Ugh... fine...." he grumbled, gesturing for a few of the guards to follow him. It was obvious that Halmos was just trying to get rid of him, but there wasn't much he could do about that.

Seeing Fade starting to leave, Nyhe rounded on Halmos. "What happened?"

IC Npc Talvi/ Kotak:

The smaller being all but jumped out of his armor as he spun around, disc launcher at the ready.

Kotak held his hand in front of him non threateningly, "Easy, Talvi, it's only me, Kotak."

The matoran pointed the launcher at him shakily for a few seconds, before recognition flared in his eyes. "K-Kotak? What happened to you?!" He looked suspiciously at the scar on his head.

The Toa of ice ran his fingers along the scar, his eyes hardening.

"The Metru Nui Sanatarium is what happened to me. I barely made it out of there alive."

He sighed, kneeling down to the talvi's level.

"I may need your help, Talvi."

Talvi looked confused at his once fellow Sanctum Guard. "You know I'd do anything for a fellow guardsman," he said in a near monotony.

Kotak gave a grim smile. "I need to speak with Nuju."

Halmos let out a sigh, and for the first time, looked depressed to some extent. "The Karzing monster attacked, tore through all of Solitary, and brought It to the ground." Halmos slightly sunk his head. "The entire supply storage area was housed around it."

He looked to the pile of flaming rubble. The riot guards had done a handsome job of blasting away the flames, dwindling the fire down to a few molten patches of smoking rock. In a few moments it would be put out for good. Frowning suddenly, without turning his head back, he said "You're right. We're putting off the plan. This monster has to be stopped before it levels Metru Nui. The world."

Rotating again, Halmos seemed taller than Nyhe suddenly. He was standing straight up, not hunching. Unintentionally, it seemed, for he had no imposing sound in his voice, although it must have hurt him like Karz to do so. A soft, silken web of fog was over his eyes, unlike the thick mist that always seemed to cover them. "And i'll kill that thing if I have to bury this Asylum over it." Amazingly impressive to say, because Halmos had almost single-handedly constructed the versatile prison. Every single inch meant a million widgets to him.

Log entry 0-00000000

Game over

Poor Jorik. Nyhe had done a nasty job to him. It didn't seem like he would ever recover from his insanity, making him quite useless in an army of any sort. At least there was a file Jorik kept on events that occurred outside in the world. When he was... Him, Jorik had done a good job keeping track of secret information; hence why he figured out the asylum's true purpose in a week. As he scrolled through the pages of Jorik's book, he saw a name that required him to say it again and again in his head for its complexity.

"Abbenidium... Hm..."

As he tore the page out and stuffed it in a pocket, Nyhe raced up behind him. She was saddened. "Nyhe, what's wrong? Has there been a death? did Metru Nui cancel our operation? what is it?"

Nyhe shoved away from the gentle hands of the warden, fury in her teary eyes. "I-I can't do this anymore! All this is wrong! torturing, murdering, destroying the Turaga... I can't let this happen!" She spat the angry words at Halmos, who only stood there with slight confusion. "I don't understand. You don't want to do the project? Why? this is what we planned!"

"T'is what you planned, Halmos." Nyhe stormed off in a terrible rage, punching everyone she passed on her way. Halmos was undeterred.

"Very well, I must be suspicious of her." Halmos said. "In case she might---" He couldn't finish the sentence. There was no way in Karzahni he could believe she might betray him and his plans. She was his closest counterpart. Nothing had ever come between the pair, not even doom and destruction. But now, now she was faltering away...?

"Abbenidium."

Halmos almost jumped when he heard the strange name being spoken to him. What was it, anyway?... Well, more patients to assign. A call came in saying some new patient listings, quite a few for one transport. After hearing the numbers and names, he went and input the name and number of one patient over the name of Jorik.

IC: Scriva/Nyhe.

Scriva felt almost as surprised as Nyhe looked at Halmos' sudden change of heart.

"Did you having anything in mind?" Nyhe asked carefully, conscious of Scriva still standing nearby. "You built the Siphon, you must have some ideas as to how we can deal with the monster...."

Halmos frowned. "I'm no scientist, but you can't make an armored power-sucking beast from random energy. Only someone like Mata Nui can do that. The monster was deliberately created from the outside as an attempt to destroy the Asylum." Looking at the collapsed solitary again, it seemed as though the plan had worked. Halmos was quite surprised he hadn't thought of this concept earlier.

Fiddling with his pocket for a second, He drew out the same piece of paper he had torn from Jovik's book. "Jovik, the one you helped," Halmos made sure not to be specific with Scriva right there. "This came from his book. Nothing very helpful, just a name and a fuzzy outline of a cartoonish-formed character." Halmos handed the paper to Nyhe. On it was a fuzzy drawing of what appeared to be a squat Toa with long blades coming up from the sides of his head with no mask. He had big feet, looked like he couldn't walk well and had a huge shoulder set with a small torso. His legs appeared to have no knee join in them, and his arms began near his hips and drew out like tentacles. it had a whiplike tail that grew up half like a scorpion. Beside him was the name Abbenidium.

"It's my only lead so far, and I can't make head to tail of it. Whatever the case, how soon will the Vahki you sent for be here?" Halmos hadn't been informed of the Vahki.

IC: Scriva/Nyhe.

Scriva frowned. Halmos was claiming that an outside source had created the monster.... and Nyhe believed an external source was also responsible for Scriva's own release papers being sent.... something about this whole thing still didn't add up.

Nyhe wavered, gazing uncertainly at Halmos, "I didn't say anything about Vahki.... how did you know about them?"

Halmos gave a slight glare at Lana. "I assumed it when I saw you depart with two patients. We must have those Vahki here soon. Otherwise, if an attack comes, a bunch of weaker Toa won't be enough to stop it." Snapping his fingers, a guard wearing slightly-clean cooking wear came over. "Yes sir?"

"Listen, for everyone here who is not qualified on record as a solitary patient, switch the menus off of the diet plan medical nutrients #4. Put them on the regular food."

"y.. Yes sir." The guard immediately turned around and walked away to a large group of guards talking.

"Diet plan Medical nutrients #4 was designed to make Toa weaker and help them regain their brain growth. Nyhe already knows." Halmos decided to stop before he said the fact that she also came up with it. "So from now on, expect all General patients to get real food." He was speaking to Scriva and Lana, for he was looking right at them.

IC: Scriva/Nyhe.

That seemed an awfully thin excuse for guessing about the Vahki, but Nyhe decided to let it go. She had bigger concerns right now. "Scriva, Lana, maybe you two should go get something to eat. It's been a long day."

Scriva frowned, but finally nodded in agreement. Things were slowly starting to add up:

Halmos had to have some kind of way of knowing what had happened in the Colosseum. A recording device of some kind, or perhaps he had someone on the inside... Whatever it was, she didn't trust him. And Nyhe was being evasive as well....

At the food area, Sal was about to retrieve some of the grim slop when one of the guards threw a lid over the container. Seeing a threatening face looking back at him, the guard decided he would open the tray back up for her when the Vortixx guard that had yelled at Lana stopped him. "We're receiving a food transfer in a few minutes." He said, no cowardice in hi voice. "Please be patient."

At the end of his sentence, he turned his please into a command.

Sal moved towards a nearby wall, leaning up against it and crossing her arms over her chest as she waited. Normally, she would have been furious at her denial of food, though the Vortixx's attitude, which she wouldn't be her if she didn't properly return as she began sizing him up, didn't stop her from muttering one singular word as she did so.

"Whatever."

Keeping a locked glare with Sal for a moment, the Vortixx motioned to the smaller guard, and he quickly took the large container of slop away, hyperventilating as he did so. A small beep was heard from the wall receiver. The Vortixx stepped up to it, listened for a moment, and turned back to Sal.

"See what I told you? food shipment is on its way down." He carried a slight grin, knowing that the overconfident Toa had expected him to throw a punch.

IC NPC Talvi/ Kotak:

"N-Nuju?!" Talvi repeated, wide eyed. "You just got out of that place, and you want to see the Turaga?! They'll throw you back in! Or worse, kill you outright for trying to defy them!"
