Bionifight Infinite Discussion

Everyone, say hello to our Head of Engineering.

Name: Dreisen, AKA “The Engineer”

Species: Toa

Power/Weapon 1: Elemental control over Iron

Power/Weapon 2: Elemental control over Magnetism

Power/Weapon 3: A large wrench made out of protosteel. It’s about the same length as his arm.

Appearance: LIKE THIS (minus the weapon shown); Sketch by Click

Bio: Dreisen originated as a Matoran of Iron on the island of Nynrah. As one of their top forgers, the other Matoran of the island would often seek his advice. For years, Dreisen’s skills grew, and his confidence grew with them; as the other Matoran began to approach him for advice more and more, Dreisen started to believe himself worthy of greater things, finding the island to be restricting. He got his chance when a dying and unconscious Toa of Magnetism washed up on the shores of the island, and was brought to him for repairs and healing. Rather than try to save the Toa, Dreisen instead used a machine of his own design to artificially create a Toa Stone using the Toa’s life force; this action killed the Toa in the process, but Dreisen was ultimately successful in creating the Toa Stone. He activated the Toa Stone at the island’s Suva, where he was transformed into a Toa - however, due to the artificial nature of its creation, the Toa Stone also granted him control over the element of Magnetism. Unfortunately, another flaw with the artificial Toa Stone left Dreisen unable to use Kanohi Masks.

Before Dreisen could adjust to being a Toa, he was yanked out of his home universe by the Organizers to participate in a Bionifight tournament. It was one of the longest Bionifight tournaments on record, and throughout it Dreisen grew from an overconfident former Matoran with no combat experience to an experienced, battleworn wielder of dual elements. At some point during this first tournament, Dreisen exchanged his Kanohi Akaku for a Kanohi Tryna, as well as replacing all of his copper armor with silver. He also stole his now-signature protosteel wrench from the Host during this time; the sheer audacity of this action amused the Host enough that he allowed Dreisen to keep the wrench and walk away scot free.

Upon returning to his own universe, Dreisen was forced into exile when the other Matoran of Nynrah discovered what he had done. He travelled south to an island hosting a new version of an old tournament known throughout his universe, but arrived to a ruin under reconstruction. After finding a Matoran of Gravity who had been a participant of the tournament, Dreisen learned that a battle against some sort of ancient ‘god’ had occurred. Shortly afterwards, he and the Ba-Matoran were pulled away, and he fought in his second Bionifight tournament. He eventually won the tournament, and upon returning to their home universe, he and the Ba-Matoran began travelling together around their universe, using their skills to defend various islands - at first to redeem themselves for their past mistakes, but eventually they simply began to do it out of habit. They did this for several years, occasionally being summoned for additional Bionifight tournaments along the way. Dreisen in particular came to be very well-known to the Host and Queen during these tournaments, to the point where Dreisen could often insult the Queen and get away with it if she was not in a sour mood.

Over time, the Organizers began to summon Dreisen more often - occasionally to fight in the tournaments, but often to serve as some other role working for the Organizers directly. As the years passed, Dreisen began to resent the Organizers, as he became unable to settle down in his own universe for fear of being pulled into Bionifight at any moment without warning. During his last tournament, after being offered a permanent position, these feelings led to an explosive rant that ended with the Host personally apologizing to Dreisen before sending him back home. Dreisen has since lived alone for the past one hundred years in his own universe while his Ba-Matoran friend continues to adventure, visiting every couple of years to catch up. Dreisen continues to hone his skills, although he still remains somewhat bitter and sarcastic… and his recent hiring as the Head of Engineering has not helped matters.

Personality/Other: Dreisen is male. He is bitter, resentful, and sarcastic; these traits serve only to amuse the Host, which in turn angers Dreisen. He loses his patience quickly with those he perceives to be foolish or wasting his time, but is also sympathetic towards the plight of the fighters, as he is more than familiar with their situation.

I should also mention that Kuro, although in the Comfort Sector, is asleep, awaiting reapproval.

And remention that Aeolin needs reapproval too.

But don't worry. I'm waiting. Just reminding.

So I wake up this morning and there's only a half-dozen new posts in the main topic, instead of the two pages I'm used to. What happened? Did everyone drop dead while I was asleep, or is today just a slow day?

He's just making a joke, man. Relax.

I guess, kinda? Since the round started we've been averaging two or three pages a day, so I was just kind of surprised to wake up this morning to a meagre handful of posts.... while there were close to 600 new messages in the Skype chat.

All my characters died, so the battles have slowed down while the fighters look for more easy targets. :P

Mech Name : Irvine

Pilot Name : Langmuir

Power/Weapon 1 : Kanohi Crast. A rare and exotic mask in Langmuir's world, it allows the user to repulse objects with tremendous force

Power/Weapon 2/3 : Repulsion Field Generators/Adapters. Highly advanced and temperamental technology, the system consists of adapters in the suit's extremities, forelimbs and head/torso area. They allow for shaping, projection, general refinement and strengthening of the Crast's repulsive force, some examples would be

  • Forming extremely destructive blades of the repulsive field, usually centered on an extremity or limb
  • Deflecting smaller AoE attacks such as a fireball that might normally prove unavoidable
  • Control of directionality of the fields
  • Ranged projection of the field. This has to be initiated by the suit's movement and it's effect is determined by the type of movement. A punch or kick, for example might send a fist sized blunted field at an a target. While a swiping or raking motion with a hand produces deadly "blades" of repulsion. This is not a long ranged attack, it's effective distance is roughly ten meters

The fields themselves are only faintly visible as a bending of light around them, travel through obscuring mediums like smoke, fog or water will, of course, render them visible

Appearance : Standing only a head taller than a moderately sized Vortixx, the Irvine is built for speed and maneuverability. The proportions are similar to an Exo-Toa, with the head/torso blended into one. Luckily for the pilot, a strong ballistics glass covering extends over them. The hands are somewhat delicate, featuring almost as much dexterity as the pilot's own. The suit is waterproofed, but not intended for underwater usage

Other : Primitive cameras are placed on the front and back of the suit's torso, feeding into the HUD projected on the ballistics glass cockpit. They're not especially useful in high or low light situations

So um

I heard (well, read) that you guys have mechs now

The post I managed to dig up because the link on the first page isn't working says that they're given to characters who have behaved well, does this mean all characters who haven't lost a life for bad behaviour? Or characters who have helped the gamemakers?

still alive somehow

I wouldn't recommend it.

Terry's current opponent doesn't seem to be online much, so you'd be stuck in interaction lock.

out of all the profiles i have saved up, this is the one i submit first.

shrug

Name: Dexund

Species: Kha-toa (Toa of Undeath)

Power/Weapon 1: Animatum Inanimata. The very fabric of reality cries out in agony as it is immobilized by the greatest traitors of all, kept from embracing those that it receives from other worlds, who come only to poison and pollute the bones of their forefathers who are yet unborn. The powers that be hear and grant a vessel of divine might the ability to pacify the mournful wails of the worlds and bring motion to their endless waves. Dex can animate inanimate objects to fight for him. The more animated objects he has, however, the weaker he is.

Power/Weapon 2: Phylacterium Vitae. A droplet of sorrow from the eternally crying gods of ages past, worshiped in black cathedrals by cults of unholy amalgamations of meat and mind and metal, twisted forms prostrating themselves before an altar that curves endlessly in on itselves. Imbued with might from those that preceded precession, it denies the abyss the power to claim those who tamper in things beyond their ken. Dex has a glowing blue crystal that hangs from one of the chains on his body. If he is killed, he can slowly regenerate from this crystal phylactery, as good as new. If it is destroyed, however, he will be instantly killed.

Power/Weapon 3: Ossa Unaerthed: A longbow, carved from the bones of an ancient rahi from a time when time was not, in a land where the world did not and could not be. It seems to waver in the light, bending away from it, and reaching towards the shadows as if to rejoin the body it once supported. Archaic magic courses through ivory runes engraved in the limbs of the bow, words spelling words spelling curses so old that no tongue knows how to read them. Every shot from his bow that lands tears at the victim’s soul, dragging memories they would rather forget into the light and slowing them down.

Also, he uses barbed arrows with triangular heads, because he hates people patching up the wounds he causes.

Appearance: Dexmund looks like a personified illness more than a toa. He is tall and hunch-backed, his shoulders broad, his body covered in armor of slickly greens and oozing black. He does not have much in the way of visible musculature, making his gangly limbs look out of place on his frame. Chains hang from his body at odd intervals, one bearing a glowing blue crystal roughly large enough to fit comfortable in his hand with a bit sticking out either end. His right arm wears thicker armor than his left to protect him from the cord of his bow, and it is noticeably discolored where the string has slid along the inside of his lower arm countless times. As is customary for his element, his mask is carved in the likeness of a Tryna, although Dex’s is pitch black and covered in blazing white runes in an unreadable language.

Bio: In Dex’s universe, elements are as varied as kanohi are in any main universe, often lining up with an equivalent mask which becomes the symbol of that element. As a Kha-matoran, Dex worked in the crypts and cathedrals of his island, minding the relics stored there and keeping the undead that would rise from them at bay. When Mata Nui’s grace granted him a toa stone, he accepted it to the pride of his village, as fostering a toa is a great honor. His transformation was supplemented with gifts from the relics he watched over, the Ossa Unaerthed and the Phylacterium Vitae both granted to him by the Kha-Turaga who presided over the cathedral. However, during his travels to the city-tomb of Metru Nui, Dexund was swept away from his world to fight in Bionifight.

Personality/Other: Dexund is a quietly religious toa, who prefers to spend his time among the relics of the past than among the people of the now. This is due in equal parts to his personal preference for solitude and to the stigma attached to Kha-toa as harbingers of doom. He has, however, grown to enjoy his supposed role, and becomes quite the large ham among strangers. The bookish, introverted toa becomes a boisterous caricature of a villain, cackling wildly and throwing about ridiculous plans to fill the role he was pigeonholed into long ago. However, those who take the time to break through to him will find a very quiet, calm soul behind the façade.

Another exosuit profile, which was definitely not partially inspired by the T-1000...

Mech Name: The Baterra Nui.

Pilot Name: The Puppetmaster.

Power/Weapon 1: Hardlight Projection – it can project short-range hardlight illusions as camouflage or to confuse enemies. (These cannot move or be used as weapons).

Power/Weapon 2: Blade formation – the exosuit can reshape its body in order to form various bladed weapons: saws, swords, spikes, spears, etc. (These blades cannot be used as projectiles, and if they are removed from the body they cannot be reattached).

Power/Weapon 3: Lasers – the exo can fire powerful lasers from its hands, or whatever weaponry is in place of them at the time.

Appearance: Twice the size of a Glatorian, the Baterra Nui appears as a glistening silver creature made of pure, seamless protodermis.

Other: Mentally linked to The Puppetmaster, the exo follows the movements and thoughts of its occupant, flowing like a liquid around his body. The drawback of this link is that damage done to the Baterra Nui registers to The Puppetmaster as slight pain.

Despite its seemingly fluid nature, however, the exo’s outer surface retains the physical toughness of metallic protodermis. Nanotech cameras and speakers built into the head allow The Puppetmaster to see and speak, while additional sensors scattered across the body allow him to hear and feel his surroundings.

Well then

Mech Name: Wraithknight

Pilot Name: Feli Gemshimmer

Appearance: The Wraithknight has a humanoid shape, its design elegant and pleasing to the eye: smooth, almost completely symmetrical and rounded. Because of its tall and thin construct, it's very agile but also fragile. It's body is light blue, while its head, shaped like an visored helmet, is coloured white. The pilot is safely seated inside the chest.

Weapon 1: Wrath of Justice: A very long sword made out of crysteel (an alloy of protosteel and protodermic crystal, very sharp). Due to its size the mech must wield it with two hands in order to use it properly in combat. Thin enough to cut through gaps in mech armour.

Weapon 2: Doom of the Wicked: A large plasma gun. Makes use of a small nuclear fusion reaction to superheat a stream of matter into its plasma state. It is a rapid-fire weapon but very inaccurate. Its blasts have enough power to destroy conventional armour in contact. Takes a while to cool down after use. Attached to the mech's right arm.

Power 3: Shield of the Virtuous: An energy shield projector. When activated, forms a large energy shield. Used like a usual infantry shield. Because it's made out of energy it can absorb most attacks. Can overload under heavy fire, in which case it collapses and becomes temporarily unusable. Attached to left arm.

I've been very busy with school and other real life business, and my activity in Bionifight has been limited as a result. I'm doing my best to catch up, but it would be very much appreciated if people could help my efforts by catching me up on the KOs from the past four days or so. Here is what I have so far, and I know that it is not up to date.

Reposting to make sure it wasn't missed:

Mech Name: Heremus’ Wrath

Pilot Name: Virse

Power/Weapon 1: “Ravage of Time.” The armor acts as an elemental power booster, channeling the abilities of the pilot into a wide shield between 3 bio and 10 bio (12.5 – 45 ft., 3.8 – 13.7 m) in radius. For Virse, this manifests as a powerful sandstorm, with grains of sand whirling like buzzsaws around the mech, though it can be manipulated to revolve so the mech is not in the direct center. In addition to providing camouflage, the sand can eat away at weaker armor and jam joints while active.

Power/Weapon 2: “Cleansing Blaze,” a high-powered plasma jet with sufficient temperatures to melt through most substances with continuous exposure. Just a small blast is usually sufficient to weaken armor for a short time. This weapon can also be used in combination with her sandstorm to create whirling shards of glass for additional damage.

Power/Weapon 3: “The Creator’s Touch,” a system of nanobots surrounding the armor that are able to keep joints functional and lesser damage repaired. The repair rate of the nanobots depends on the severity of the damage, and there is only so much they can do about severed limbs or a massive breach in the armor.

Appearance: Heremus’ Wrath is not built for power or intimidation, but speed and agility. The mech features a small, boxy, well-armored shell to house the pilot, supported by two spindly legs tipped in wide feet. The only gaps in the armor are a series of narrow slits for visuals which can be closed for enemy fire or sandstorms. While closed, the pilot relies on a thermal imaging camera. The mech is primarily painted tan and gunmetal with hints of desert camouflage.

Other: Heremus’ Wrath is based on one of the many Great Being relics found on Virse’s home world. However, this one always stood out in Virse’s mind for one simple reason: it actually worked. It was discovered in a crater in the desert later found to be a collapsed Great Being laboratory. Over centuries of inactivity, “The Creator’s Touch” managed to dig the mech out of the sand and keep it in working condition. It was used in the Great War on the side of the Toa for a time before it was eventually destroyed by Glatorian sabotage. Virse's version is named for the Great Being of War and Strategy on her home world.
