Bionifight Infinite Discussion

Given that a Rode is apparently capable of seeing those with a Huna I'm thinking it could see through the Clockodile's active camo. The Baterra Nui's illusions might be a different matter since they're not just illusions, they're hardlight, making them solid objects. Rode is no Akaku, I do mention it can't see through solid objects.

I suppose the difference would be that the Clockodile is pulling a Liu Bolin and painting itself to match its surroundings, while the BN is painting a paper sheet to match its surroundings and then holding that up in front of it. So I think the RODAR would see through both manner of camouflage, but for the Clockodile that would reveal the mech and for the BN that would just reveal a big hardlight screen that still covers the mech itself

Jumping on the mech bandwagon. Since its backstory involves it being dreamt up only after the coming big mech fight, it won't be participating in that particular, even if it does get approved before Friday

Mech Name: The Ebon Flow

Pilot Name: Jorth

Power/Weapon 1: Ferrofluid construction. The Ebon Flow has a skeleton consisting of a series of hydraulically-powered cables around a central armoured hub. This skeleton is fleshed out by a kind of ferrofluid; particulates of iron-like metal held in a thick and viscous gel, bound to the cables by magnetic force. This gives the Ebon Flow a certain capacity to shapeshift. The limbs can twist and merge, combining into a single tentacle of greater strength. By increasing the power of the magnetism holding the ferrofluid in place it can be induced into creating geometric designs of great spikiness, the increased force holding it in place giving it the solidity of granite. This also makes the mech tricky to hurt with bladed or crushing weaponry, as instead of being resisted by a solid metal plate their impact is spread out, rippling out through the gel until the kinetic force has been entirely neutralised. Small or shallow cuts will self-repair, the gel just flowing back into place, though its own viscosity prevents it from easily slipping back into larger injuries.

Power/Weapon 2: RODAR system. The ROde Detection And Ranging equipment  is a set up meant to aid the Ebon Flow’s other visual and targeting hardware by channeling a Rode’s power of truth to see through stealth systems and other deceptions that enemy mechs might have set up. It has no trouble seeing through illusory veils or active camouflage but, slightly ironically, is useless if the enemy is simply crouched behind a large rock.

Power/Weapon 3: By crossing the numerous magnetic fields produced by its inner cables the Ebon Flow can generate a crude electric charge. Amplified by the properties of the ferrofluid this allows it to actually create and launch beams of lightning from its tentacles, or shock with high voltage electricity on contact

Appearance: Without the ferrofluid armouring the Ebon Flow is a central cockpit comprised of a series of square and hexagonal metal plates arranged in a shape known by the mouthful of syllables that is “truncated octahedron”. The RODAR system built into the machine relays what the outside looks like to display screens on the interior, replicated a view of the world as though there were no mech in the way, complete with any hidden enemies being revealed.

Each of the 24 corners on the cockpit holds one of the long hydraulic cables that form the rest of the Ebon Flow’s skeletal structure. Tracks run along the edges between corners, letting them move around if they need to merge together. The more of the cables working together as a single limb, the stronger that limb is.

With its particular armouring covering it, the Ebon Flow appears as a formless mass of black, the shadow of an octopus, the ferrofluid gel masking all detail.

Other: After seeing a few other mech designs, Jorth came up with this as a machine styled after his squid-coat. But bigger

Jorth's Mech approved.

Are the fighters informed of the existence of Infinite gems on arrival? The Host message doesn't mention it.

At this point, interaction is probably your best bet. Enough people have gone on gem quests that it shouldn't be too hard to bump into someone who went on one, or someone who witnessed the Gem of Dodging in the cafeteria.

The Gems themselves are pretty common knowledge among the contestants, but the truth about why the organisers want them is only known by a meagre handful of the fighters.

Alright. If memory serves, one of the staff mentioned at one point that items like these have been in every tournament, but they are different each time. Am I recalling correctly?

Yeah. There's something similar in each tournament. Only confirmed one so far is swords in the past, mentioned by Elittra.

Mecha time~

Mech Name: Fear Itself

Pilot: Kat

Power/weapon 1: High power pulse cannon, functions similarly to high energy blaster bolts of Star Wars fame. This is to say, that a compressed bolt of high temperature energy is fired. These bolts cannot be fired in rapid succession, and pack quite a punch.

Power/weapon 2: physics shield, an energy based repulsion field localized about the left arm, can be used to deflect almost any attack depend ant on its use. The larger the field is extended, the weaker it becomes. Cannot be switched quickly from large to small or vice versa while already blocking an attack.

Power/weapon 3: Fist drills. Both hands have small, diamond carbide drills built into the 'knuckles' these can be activated at any time to give punches extra penetrating power.

Appearance: outwardly resembles an over large Steltian underclass. (Krekka) most heavily armored in the torso, with sensors that feed directly to Kat. She "pilots" the mech much as she would her own armor, and it has been specially designed to acommodate her own natural armor curled up in the abdomen of the machine while she controls it.

well, seems like all the cool kids are joining this soooooooo

-The Modern Sisyphus-

Name: Antiro “The Gunner” Vod

Species: Toa

Power/Weapon 1: Antiro wields an elemental control over air, granting him the ability to manipulate, create, and absorb air and wind.

Power/Weapon 2: Antiro also wears the Kanohi Miru, granting him its power of levitation, giving him the power to raise in the air.

Power/Weapon 3: He also carries a briefcase sheathed in durable protosteel, containing a few personal effects.

Appearance: Antiro is a tall man, able to look most of the tallest Toa in the eye and only needing to peer up slightly to do the same with Vortixx and elite Steltians. To compensate for this, however, his figure is unfortunately lanky, with arms and legs which appear disproportionately long compared to the rest of his body. His posture is regal and proud, though, and his face is handsome: it is sharp and proud, with high cheekbones, a strong jaw, a pearly-white smirk, and eyes which are so dark they might well be black as oil. His armour is alternatingly coloured dark green and smoky grey; it is elegantly crafted, comely, but still useful in a scrape if need be. Antiro also wears a black overcoat.

Biography: There once was a city called Phan-Metru, where even the best laid plans of mice and men seemed to go awry with worrying regularity. Antiro knew that best of all; a young, up-and-coming civil servant from a powerful family, he worked long and hard in the hopes of fixing his beloved city. It was an arduous task for even the best minds of the city, but Antiro was never the type to give up on a dream; he was determined beyond determination to create a better world for his wife and child.

Antiro rose steadily through the ranks of the government; and the higher he rose, the further he distanced himself from those two. Maybe, when they left, they might have figured that he would not notice their absence.

If anyone looked at Antiro Vod, eminent politician in Phan-Metru, they have thought he had not. He had, though. His quest to right the wrongs of his city became more desperate, more consuming. He gained the moniker “The Gunner” for his ruthless treatment of subordinates and enemies. He may not even know whether he is doing this to save the city or simply because it is all he has left. He only knows that he is desperate to get back to Phan-Metru, and to escape the Bionifight Tournament.

Personality/Other: Hard to get along with, Antiro tends to be a snarky, prickly individual at the best of times, with a more-than-healthy arrogance. Sarcasm is his routine mode of communication, though sometimes it seems rooted in a disdain for others and sometimes simple habit; he has become a veritable creature of habit, running in circles because he is scared of what he will find off of the beaten track. However, somewhere beneath his hard words and cruel laughter is a man who really does want to make a better world, but who has long since had much of his optimism ground out of him by a harsh reality.

Hello all you people out there!

Most of you have probably forgotten me... but that's reasonable, seeing as how I've been gone for who knows how long.

Unfortunately, due to this extended absence... it doesn't seem that I'll be able to catch up with this RPG. I don't know what's happened to my characters, since I haven't gone back to check yet, but... looks like I must abscond from this RPG. Sorry about that. I don't think I'll really be missed anyway, so it's okay. I might join future RPGs, but who knows.

Anyway, just wanted to say I'm alive.

Since this is the perfect opportunity for an upgrade, I'm resubmitting Xaeraz with an upgraded body and an actually working mask now. Also, two hands!

Name: Xaeraz

Species: Fe-toa head

Power/Weapon 1: The Mask of Repair. Similar to both the Kiril and Mask of Healing, it can repair damage to both organic and inorganic objects, but not as quickly as either of the specialized masks. In addition, it does not possess the Mask of Healing’s ability to cure insanity.

Power/Weapon 2: A propelled wingpack mounted on his back. The wings are reminiscent of his original set, being dark red and black and rapidly unfolding from storage in a snap at a mental command. The pack itself uses a set of self-designed engines that produce minimal noise and heat, but can be adjusted to produce loud roaring noises and incredibly hot flames, at the price of potentially damaging the body’s legs.

Power/Weapon 3: Ballistic Armblades. Long and slender, like on the original Xaeraz body, and coupled with a swordbreaker hilt on the back, only paired so there’s one on each arm. The armblade and hilt snap out with shocking speed, and the blade itself can be fired off over a short distance, but firing both before retrieving one leaves Xaeraz with only his fists and the hilts to defend himself. These armblades are sharp enough to deal with all but the hardest armor.

Infinite Gems: Gem of Sickness. Forces target to feel extreme flu-like symptoms. Cannot be avoided or stopped in anyway except by Xaeraz himself. Affects even mechanical foes.

ULTIMATE WEAPONS: Rust Cannon. A revolver-esque gun with a curved, wooden handle, a long slender barrel, a break-action joint, and a cylinder that seems to chatter when touched. It can fire a horde of armor-eating nano-machines, reducing an opponent's armor to a very flimsy state. This will cause all physical attacks on that fighter to cause a devastating amount of damage for the rest of the round. The Rust Cannon provides the user with a passive resistance to the element of Iron.

Appearance: Where the original Xaeraz body was tall, gangly, and rather reminiscent of a walking pile of garbage, the new body is tall, gangly, and passable as a natural body. It retains the proportions of being taller than almost everyone else in the tournament (excluding Noroi, Elly, and a few others), broad shouldered, and barrel chested, but his limbs actually (somewhat) match up with his size now. While he doesn’t exactly count as “sleek” or “streamlined,” Xaeraz’s armor is fairly smooth and well made, and an almost uniform dark gray. His limbs remain a dark red, and the wingpack on his back is a black. His hands each have five claw-tipped fingers, and his feet are wide and flat without being too ridiculously so. He wears a black mask shaped like a pakari with an akaku’s eyepiece over the right eyehole, and an exceptionally precisely machined crystal in the left one. His head is connected to the body by way of the wires and tentacles on it, which form a sort of pseudo-neck to hold his head on.

Bio: Xaeraz was a senior member of the Nynrah Ghosts in his home universe, granting him access to a multitude of incredibly advanced and secret technology and placing him in charge of multiple important projects, including, but not limited to, the Exo-Toa, Fohrok, and the unusual Igniju weapon project. In Xaeraz’s universe, the Order of Mata Nui was eventually destroyed by a Dark Hunter-Brotherhood of Makuta alliance, ending in the universe’s various islands being distributed between the two organizations. Neither side was very pleased with the arrangement, however, and the universe erupted into civil war shortly after. Nynrah, being under the Brotherhood’s control, was contracted to create a weapon that could be used to drain the life force from one target and transfer it to another, with the intention being to kill the Shadowed One and empower Makuta Teridax in one fell swoop.

Unfortunately, minor issues during production caused chain reaction failures in the weapon when it was finally fired. Instead of targeting the Shadowed One, the Ignija instead targeted the Great Spirit himself, immediately plunging the universe into chaos as the weapon’s power tore its life force free and began to channel it into anything that even resembled Makuta Teridax in terms of physiology or power. The end result was the Ignika trying to restore Mata Nui by draining the life force of the ihabitants of the matoran universe while the Ignija continued to drain his life force as rapidly as it could be replenished. Eventually, the weapon was destroyed, causing yet more damage as the feedback from it releasing life energy overwhelmed and destroyed the Ignika it had been fighting. The end result was utter devastation of the matoran universe, with very few islands and people surviving. Xaeraz would be unfortunate enough to be one of them, the toa doomed to wander the universe forever in an attempt to right his horrible wrong.

Many centuries later, he would be brought to Bionifight, where his past would return to haunt him on a quest to find a legendary Infinite Gem that would also end in his (temporary) reduction to a head.

Personality/Other: Xaeraz is quiet and asocial, preferring to spend his time alone in his workshop (when he had it) or his room in the relaxation sector, and rarely approaching other fighters. All the same, when he notices one of his fellows is hurt, he will rush to their aid, even at the cost of his own wellbeing. Xaeraz has no aspirations to win the tournament, only wanting to survive it with as few casualties as possible.

But she could hit from afar...granted, that was only if she could make it to a safe distance.
