Sigh...

Lew, can't you just come up with your own ideas and back them up via research instead of the conjecture of another guy?

Or you know, realize that we're not even discussing the practicality of mechs right now, but just pointing out the sheer power of a cordak autocannon.

Its basically a normal cordak blaster but with a feeder belt instead just six shots. Its not a gatling gun.

A normal Cordak blaster pretty much is a gatling gun. Sure it's notin the thousands of rounds a minute range, but it still has a lot faster fire rate than anything with that much destructive power has any right to.

The only thing keeping it from being painfully OP to the point of being like the introduction of the machine gun in WWI is the low clip size.

Which is rather lacking on this weapon.

A firing rate of 2/second is OP...? Also, Cordaks are MUCH slower than bullets, even in air.

Fire rate and muzzle velocity wasn't stated in the mech profile.

EDIT: just realized it wasn't stated in my mech profile either... *facepalms*

But, where are you getting these stats from?

Honestly, it doesn't matter where he's getting them from.

The destructive power of even a normal Cordak is ridiculous. I don't think anyone here remembers what "Cordak" mean, or what it does. For reference, it means "desolation" in Matoran, and the Mahri used them to bring down the stone spire that was keeping an entire island supported.

And someone just went and got a belt-fed, self-tracking, autocannon version.

On the basis that it isn't too tough against mechs.

When mechs also get to be used in rounds with normal combatants.

Personally, I'm starting to think this wasn't the best idea that the staff ever had...

Well, I've learned by now that whenever my ideas cause too much of a fuss on this forum, to drop them. It saves everyone a lot of stress. I didn't join to have my stuff picked to pieces, I joined to have fun with characters and concepts I wouldn't normally be able to use.

The times, they are a-changing...

And that's perfectly okay, but in order to ensure everyone has to opportunity to have fun we do have to keep some semblance of power levels in mind. It's a learning process mate, the approval process is a part of that experimentation, so don't let a rejection have you just set aside. Instead find a reasonable way to adjust for whatever problems there are, if you find that difficult feel free to ask for help.

In other news, where's my Judgement Dragon?

Name: Llun Yreve

Species: Assumed Toa

Power/Weapon 1: Telekinesis. With concentration, Llun can control objects from afar, although the maximum range from which he can do so is twenty yards - past that, his telekinesis useless. He can also use his telekinesis on himself, although this is significantly more straining mentally, to levitate for short times and distances. Often, using his telekinesis on himself is quite draining, and he can be easily distracted when trying to levitate himself as well. This telekinesis is always accompanied by a shadowy aura that seems to be doing the work.

Power/Weapon 2: Offensive power nullification. Should Llun see a power-based attack coming towards him - say, a fireball, or a lightning bolt - Llun can disrupt the power behind the attack, making it - and therefore, the attack - completely nullified and useless. However, this does not work on passive or defensive powers, and Llun has to focus on the attack to make this work - if he doesn't notice it or he ignores it, this power does not come into effect.

Power/Weapon 3: Power of the Void. Throwing the considerations of the conservation of energy and matter aside, Llun's 'elemental' power is the power of the void, which, when used against a target, causes the areas that it hits - instead of suffering severe damage and being ripped apart by the forces acting upon them - to suddenly cease to exist. While it normally manifests as a bolt of somehow-visible nothingness - perceived by the feeling of complete alienness and sheer wrongness it conveys to those who witness it - it can also seem to be more like a flame or a spark. At its lowest levels of use, it is similar to various other powers - it only causes very minor damage, it might stun the target, something like that. As the power put behind the attack increases, however, the damage increases similarly to various other elemental attacks - where a mid-strength fireball from a Toa of Fire might cause his opponent's flesh to burn and bleed, or a Toa of Ice's thrown icicles might rip apart his enemy's armour and lodge in their arm, a similar strength bolt from Llun would cause a portion of his enemy's armour and flesh to disappear, causing a similar amount of trauma to the two mentioned attacks. An immediately lethal attack, meanwhile, would cause significant trauma by removing from existence a large amount of tissue, or the tissues of a vital organ, or possible even cause the target to simply disappear. However, the attacks caused by Llun's power can be healed, and as such, they do not circumvent the healing system put in place in the Bionifight facility, or the Mask of Healing, or even his target's natural ability to heal. As well, these attacks can obviously be dodged, or nullified by equal-strength or stronger counterattacks, should they collide in midair.

Appearance: Llun is a being of height equal to that of a Toa's average, covered almost completely with a black cloak. His mask, when it can be seen, appears most similar to a Noble Hau, and his mask and what little armour is ever seen is a shade of ebony that seems to absorb all light that comes upon it, leaving Llun to look almost like a walking black hole. Beneath his cloak more armour can be felt if he is grabbed, though it cannot, of course, be seen. If his cloak is cast away from him or destroyed - or even if it is damaged and gains a hole - what of Llun's body that can be seen - beyond the hands and mask - is formless and indistinct, only barely carrying the outline of a Toa. If his cloak is completely cast away from him, his hands and mask too lose their form, meaning that Llun becomes nothing but a walking shadow. Still able to be grasped, and if such is done armour and form can still be felt, but it cannot be seen.

Bio: Llun Yreve has lived many lives, and each life has been filled with pain, and sorrow, and death. In the many universes wherein the Bionicle Mafia games are carried out, one family is always present - the Null family. The Nulls are often subject to torture and death, all due to the sadistic mafiosi and villagers in each game. Their souls would leave...but the pain and anger they felt prevented them from finding peace in any afterlife, and instead, these souls all banded together, forming one conglomeration, and forming a body along with. This body took the name of Llun Yreve, and set out across the multiverse to gain vengeance for the pain it had felt. It was not discriminatory in its path...And, ultimately, its prowess in battle was noted, and it was brought to the Bionifight facility, its other powers of illusion and telepathy locked away from it, but its primary offensive powers still able to be used as it continued to wreak havoc against those it fought.

Personality/Other: Llun is a tortured soul, with a cold rage, sorrow, and cunning being the primary building blocks of his mental state - other than a predominantly male personality, due to the majority of souls within Llun being male. His personal view is that nonexistance is the natural state of things, as it is the only truly peaceful state there is in the universe - that of nothing, and of emptiness. As such, other than obtaining vengeance for the many deaths he has experienced, Llun's main goal is to remove the fabric of reality itself, leaving nothing but the cold emptiness of a boundless non-reality. When he speaks, due to the presence of the souls within him, Llun's voice comes out primarily as a chorus of voices, although a cold, grating rasp is that which is primarily heard, which is the voice actually possessed by Llun's body.

You know, something just occurred to me.

If practically every one and thing inside Blindside's wall was shredded by those unstoppable bullets, shouldn't the special weapon spawn pedestal have been destroyed/damaged as well?

Name: Etov Eht

Species: Walking Stick

Power/Weapon 1: Transformation: Etov's first power is the ability to switch between stick form and Toa form.

Power/Weapon 2: The People's Voice: As a representative of the people, Etov is able to establish mental "chatrooms" thereby allowing it to communicate with others without being overheard. Only two rooms can be set up at a time and each room can have a maximum of ten characters in it.

Power/Weapon 3: Role Call: Etov has long been privy to dark secrets, and thus has the ability to instantly analyze and discover the powers and weaknesses of people he sees.

Appearance: Etov normally appears as just a normal stick with a brown bag hanging from the end. The stick, while relatively long, is not rather intricate. It appears to be made out of a rich mahogany wood, but it's durability proves to be on par with most metal sticks. Etov is unsure whether this is a result of not being made out of mahogany or whether it was the Watcher's meddling. However, when not in the obviously superior stick form, Etov appears as a generic, if somewhat lanky, brown Toa. The bag normally found hanging from the end of the stick, now appears over the Toa's head with two slots cut out for the eyes. Other than the bag, there is nothing abnormal regarding Etov's appearance.

Biography: Etov was one an average stick lying in the middle of the forest, but that all changed when the Mafia attacked. It wasn't long after, that a mysterious being known only as the Watcher picked up Etov to be his stick. This is the moment that Etov's considers to be its birth. Accompanying this being on his travels, Etov saw a world of bloodshed. Every day and night, Etov would see villagers and mafia engage in petty feuds that only served to perpetuate an ongoing cycle of violence. In addition Etov found itself dismayed at the faith of the nulls, and while it may have been relegated to forever observe in this particular universe, the cries of the nulls did not fall on deaf ears. At each village Etov would collect the spirits of the nulls in its bag and later release them to the wild. Not long after Llun was noticed by the tournament organizers, did they notice that Etov would make for an interesting combatant as well, and thus the stick found itself in a new realm where it was no longer a mere observer.

Personality: Etov have a wooden personality, indeed the being has been called a stick in the mud. Rather bland from its years of merely observing, Etov rarely engages in combative action, preferring instead to observe and comment. That said Etov will take action at things it perceives as foolish, this includes mindless violence, oppression, hatred, and other sins Etov saw committed by the village. Etov's voice is also rather dispassionate and it is rare to discover any traces of emotion within it. Finally Etov prefers to serve as a weapon for others instead of itself.

I apologize for my... well, whining and complaining. Its been stressful lately, and I've been in a bit of a funk. When everyone else sees something different then I do tends to contribute to that. Anyway, reworked profiles for the mech and Gyro.

Name: Gyro

Species: Autonomous Combat Drone (Prototype)

Faction: Bionifight

Power/Weapon 1: Hyper-Kinetic Plating- Gyro is covered with plates on hydraulics, and is able to curl into a ball, where all the plates are positioned and can interlock and form a perfect sphere. The plating absorbs and dissipates all kinetic force directed at it by 'rippling' at the molecular level until the ripples are played out. This only works when in a complete, unbroken sphere, where Gyro can only move by using his own internal gyroscope or by using forces beyond his control, like attacking forces. Gyro can extend and retract plates at will, and is able to use them to quickly roll around, or extend his plasma blasters. This plating offers no resistance whatsoever to energy attacks, which may damage the plating enough to null the protective features of the hyper-kinetic plating. Gyro's sensors are sophisticated enough to not be blind when retracted into sphere mode.

Power/Weapon 2: Plate weaponry- when in humanoid form, Gyro can form the plates on his right arm into a short blade formed of two straight, bladed plates. These are specialized, and separate from the carapace.

Power/Weapon 3: Wrist-mounted plasma blasters- On each of Gyro's wrists are a dual-barreled plasma blaster. It is capable of rapid-fire, and can spin to be used in Sphere mode as a pursuit weapon. They accomplish this by extending from the sides when Gyro is rolling forward in sphere form; they can swivel to keep their bearings, but can only move along one axis. When extended, the absorption of the plating is compromised.

Appearance: Gyro is a humanoid combat drone, approximately Toa-sized. Gyro's entire body is covered with plating on two servos that allow it to move the plates independently. His head resembles that of an ant, but lacks mandibles, and is otherwise smooth, and with two plate-servos serving as antennae. He is primarily white and silver, with a bit of blue for his glowing parts, such as his eyes, lights on his limbs and chest. In his chest cavity, there is a spinning gyroscope. When in sphere mode, the sphere is entirely white, with lines that indicate that it is assembled. His processing systems are solid state, and he is primarily contructed of lightweight polymers in addition to protosteel reinforcements for limb components, a significant exception being the gyroscope in his chest. This means is lighter than a Toa of his size, but is not overly vulnerable to Magnetism and Iron; not more so than any other combatant.

Bio: Gyro was a prototype assassin, which utilized an unstable AI. After he was hacked by some of his targets, he gained a crude 'morality' module. He no longer wished to fight for others' commands, but for his own beliefs. He was appointed a covert operative, and hunted down his inventors before they could make more like him.

Personality/Other: Gyro is technically genderless, but prefers male pronouns. He is cold and ruthless, but not without an itch of morality; his awakened AI allows him to evaluate a situation and rely on his own judgement rather than his pre-programmed combat protocols. His synthesized voice is to-the-point, but somewhat soft in its inflections.

And, the mech.

Mech Name: Twilight Panthera

Pilot Name: Skorm

Power/Weapon 1: Tail laser blades- Mounted on an extremely flexible tail is a pair of laser blades that can ignite into dual-sided axe-shaped straight blades.

Power/Weapon 2: Chin-mounted Cordak Blaster- Mounted under the mecha's 'chin' is a Xian cordak blaster. It can empty its six-round cylinder in three seconds; reloading is a lengthy process accomplished by autoloaders on either side of the blaster. These dual loaders prevent jams common in autocannons.

Power/Weapon 3: Bifurcation- As Skorm is capable of splitting into two entities, he can do so in the cockpit of the Sundown Panthera. Down the middle is where it splits, each half having two legs; the front has the slower front legs, while the back has the slightly more agile digitigrade back legs. The front half (referred to as 'Dawn'), piloted by Sko, is a slow and relatively sturdy walker that relies on the cordak blaster for attack. The back half (referred to as 'Sundowner'), piloted by the more aggressive Orm, is faster than the front, keeping some of the agility of the full mech. The tail splits down the middle and becomes two 'arms', and are capable of using the laser blades for quick slashing attacks. In bifurcated form, neither form shares the mobility or speed the full mech makes use of. In addition, it retains the weakness of Skorm using his mask: if either is killed, the other dies with him. They are, however, in radio contact, for better or worse.

Appearance: Twilight Panthera is a quadrupedal Rahi-pattern mecha, fashioned after a sleek panther, hence the name. It is constructed of a protosteel frame with Xian steel armor, significantly lighter and more flexible, but less protective. It is equally silver and gunmetal. The tail is an extremely flexible metal, allowing for incredible control when using the tailtip laserblades.

Other: Built for speed and mobility over protectiveness, the Sundown Panthera is an impressive mecha; its melee and long-range capability make it a dangerous foe. Skorm controls it via a combination of neural linkup and traditional controls; Orm retains the neural controls for the 'slicer' half, and Sko the manual controls for the 'shooter' half. All configurations possess a somewhat limited viewscreen, but the head is flexible enough for Skorm to retain a decent amount of battlefield awareness, which helps with aiming the cordak blaster.

Name: Hatmaster Gabe, Toa of Euphoria

(Also known as Grandmaster Peppy Snapster of the Glorious Nation of philadelphXian-Zakazimbabwe, President of the FedoraCo Intergalactic Empire, Head Poobah of the Toa Wahlberg Fan Club and Enema Dojo, and Global Reigning Champion of the Greasy Scoundrel's Annual Tip'n'Flip World Series, XVIII, PhD.)

Species: Toa of Euphoria and Divine Emperor of Known Space and Time

Power/Weapon 1: GUNS OF THE EMPEROR: A large cannon that fires FedoraCo fedoras at opponents at high velocity. The fedoras are semi-sentient due to being soaked in Ihu Dew (this also allows them to be sticky and adhesive) and act somewhat like Krana, attaching themselves to their target and causing extreme feelings of euphoria and the desire to grow hair on one's neck. The ammunition for this cannon is kept in a sack, slung on Emperor Snapster's back.

Power/Weapon 2: CROWN OF THE EMPEROR: A golden fedora crown, perched on his head. The brim is razor sharp, and it can be flung at opponents with deadly skill. He forgoes a powered Kanohi in favour of the power of the crown.

Power/Weapon 3: THIGHS OF THE EMPEROR: His giant, crushing thighs can exert a crushing force, equivalent to two elephants doing the Macarena in the hot sun.

Appearance: Basked in blinding light extraordinary, and clad in plates of gold and silver, the appearance of this divine, greasy deity is the highest honor one could possibly hope of holding for but a brief moment. Mata Nui in Toa form himself combined with Toa Wahlberg at the peak of his rapping career ain't got ###### on his viciously striking visage, not to mention those ######in' thighs, man.

Bio: Having nearly conquered the entirety of the known multiverse, the godlike Emperor and Grand Hatmaster Gabe (aka Peppy Snapster) sought to expand the rule of his Kingdom - now the ground where he has yet to reign shudders with every footstep, as he seeks new subjects to spread his warm, sticky euphoria over and become the master of space and time itself.

Personality/Other:

HOSSANA MEUS
FORTUNA DEUS
PROTEGO CAUSA IN SANCTUS
AETERNUS PRAETOR
FIRMITAS SEMPER
CORYPHAEUS REX REGIS UNIVERS

It should be noted that Gabe is a character from the BZPRPG. While his majesty may be over the top in the manner in which he conducts his business, I wouldn't classify him as a 'joke.'

With the changes, Gyro approved.

Skorm mech not approved; the cordak payload plus its fire rate is still overpowered, regardless of loading time or clip size.

Name: Hatmaster Gabe, Toa of Euphoria

(Also known as Grandmaster Peppy Snapster of the Glorious Nation of Philadelphian Zimbabwe, President of the FedoraCo Intergalactic Empire, Head Poobah of the Mark Wahlberg Fan Club and Enema Dojo, and Global Reigning Champion of the Greasy Scoundrel's Annual Tip'n'Flip World Series, XVIII, PhD.)

He forgoes a powered Kanohi in favour of the power of the resounding Tip'n'Flip. Performing a successful tip and flip of this fedora releases a small shockwave of glorious force.

Power/Weapon 3: THIGHS OF THE EMPEROR: No explanation needed.

Appearance: Basked in blinding light extraordinary, and clad in plates of gold and silver, the appearance of this divine, greasy deity is the highest honor one could possibly hope of holding for but a brief moment. Mata Nui in Toa form himself combined with Mark Wahlberg at the peak of his rapping career ain't got ###### on his viciously striking visage, not to mention those ######in' thighs, man.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "This cannot be approved because it contains elements from the real world."

Please consider that his excellency has conquered most of the known multiverse, and as a result, has most likely come into contact with some... extrauniversal elements.

Even if you don't buy into that I could just elaborate that the similarities are in name only as a result of the statistical probability of there being people and places named after things that are otherwise not specific to some universes, given that the multiverse might contain an infinite number of parallel or alternate universes.

Or I can get into String Theory if that fails.

Hatmaster not approved. You list the hat as its own weapon but then also give it a power, which is not allowed. Power 3 also needs an explanation. Elements from the real world have also been included, which is not allowed, regardless of whether he has travelled the multiverse. The profile is also one big joke.

Forgot to mention that the staff have come to a decision regarding our discussions last night; we are currently looking over the post right now and it should be ready later.

It should be noted that Gabe is a character from the BZPRPG. While his majesty may be over the top in the manner in which he conducts his business, I wouldn't classify him as a 'joke.'

Resubmitting with changes to Fission's power, as suggested. (Changes in Red)

Name: Tavari
Species: Toa of Lightning
Power/Weapon 1: Electrolance (A three-pronged staff that channels her Lightning powers, but can also be used as a standalone weapon)
Power/Weapon 2: Elemental Powers of Lightning
Power/Weapon 3: Great Huna (Allows her to become Invisible for a short period of time, Allowing for stealthy attacks and sneaky getaways)
Appearance: Tavari has a slim build, clad in striking white armour with blue highlights, yet always seems to wear a ragged brown hooded shawl over everything. Her Eyes are electric blue, and perfect for giving foolish allies a death glare.
Bio: Hailing from the Current BZPRPG Universe, Tavari tended to not get directly involved in any major conflicts, instead aiding those whose lives were on the line in the major vicinity. After years of mutually serving her country, she was summoned to Bionifight to test her skills.
Personality/Other: At first, Tavari appears to be cold and savage, but underneath that harsh exterior lies a more emotional side to her. She is also a loner, and tends to stray away from forming permanent alliances most of the time. Her fighting style is lightning fast, and relies on Acrobatic movements to confuse opponents before striking.

Name: “Fission” (Real name unknown)
Species: Toa of Nuclear Energy
Power/Weapon 1: Dissonance (An Experimental weapon he stole from an Odina Laboratory. It is a double-edged broadsword that can split into two separate ones. The curious thing is that the opposing edges are imbued with different elements. One side is imbued with light and is white hot, and the other is imbued with shadow and is abysmally cold. Due to the complexity of the weapon, this takes up two slots)
Power/Weapon 2: Elemental powers of Nuclear Energy. (Fission can launch bolts of Nuclear energy at opponents. Their radioactivity is contained, preventing stray gamma rays from poisoning other combatants and being overpowered, but enough to inflict radiation poisoning on it's intended target. He can absorb radioactivity, though, but that’s usually rather scarce in the Bionifight arena)
Appearance: Fission has mainly sand-green armour covering his Muscular build, with the exception of his right arm and feet, which are Gunmetal grey and heavily armoured. His eyes are a noxious green, which match his heart-light and unusual veins on his right arm.
Bio: Originally from the Halkenverse’s Nynrah, Fission was originally a Toa of Fire who was experimented on to create a new weapon, which was said to involve Pit Mutagen and Nuclear waste. After the experiment was over, Fission was ready to be rolled into battle, but after realising what he had become, he escaped and went rogue. It was said he almost reached the southern continent before he was teleported to Bionifight.
Personality/Other: Fission’s long history has left him Jaded and nearly emotionless. He won’t even flinch if a Tahtorak roars right in his face. He also harbours a general dislike of Matoran and Toa of fire, the former for experimenting on him, and the latter out of jealousy. His fighting style is potently strong, but he’s very slow, which is also a hindrance.

Also, What is the main situation in the War games? I kinda got lost since Blindside launched their big illegal attack, and all I know about interactions is that Severain had been challenging someone who attacked Miras, Harami's in the control room not doing much, and Ignis is still on guard in the Jungle.

Blindside did not launch an illegal attack. The problem was the way they responded to somebody else's attack.

Let’s talk.

First of all, I would like to apologize for my absences in the past week. I will elaborate more on these later; right now, however, let’s get to the other points.

The other staff and I spoke at length last night after listening to the arguments and questions posed by several players regarding the metagaming incident (click the link to see that other big post, what fun); specifically the punishment doled out. When we originally had Prose listed as KO’d for the penalty, it was because we determined that hiding behind a shovel to avoid 30mm rounds was more likely to get you killed than having superspeed at your disposal to dodge the 30mm rounds. Issue was taken with this, and after discussing it in detail, we have decided that Prose shall be allowed to remain in the round. He will be injured, but the damage can be repaired. Turbo Vixen will be KO’d instead; IC this can be due to a malfunction in the defenses of the pyramid, if you want to get creative with it.

---

With regards to this particular issue, the metagaming incident, and various other problems that have sprouted over the months that this RPG has remained active, one thing has remained constant as a source of resolution and communication (or miscommunication as well, as it were). That “thing” is Skype - the main chat for this RPG. I like to think that it is not necessary for someone to be a part of this chat.

Sometimes I feel like I might be fooling myself with that thought.

But I digress.

I believe that Skype is a very useful tool. It certainly makes things easier for us staff to plan and discuss the RPG, and it serves as a helpful and convenient way to keep in touch with much of the playerbase. However, it has been brought to my attention that for the players, staff communication (with all of us, but especially myself) with the players regarding issues such as this is lacking.

I will apologize for this (and this is still a separate thing from my recent absences, we still have not gotten there yet), but I am also going to explain my approach. I will explain why I have felt it to be beneficial, and I will also explain how it is flawed. So here we go.

I have a life outside of BZPower.

This is obvious, of course; we all have lives outside of BZPower. But none of us have all the time that we would like in the world, and that includes me. My work hours are often inconsistent week to week, and as they fluctuate, so too does my energy and activity level. Outside of my current job I am still finalizing summertime employment; I am still working through what I need to for university; I am still trying to maintain my living space. There are a variety of other things that I am currently juggling into my schedule IRL, and they will always take precedent.

Even then, however, I think about Bionifight constantly. While I am at work, while I am eating, while cleaning the house or watching a movie, I mull over this RPG. I take a look at my surroundings to find inspiration for how this RPG could be improved, for the next cool big thing that I could introduce. I plan IC interactions and OOC conversations, thinking about ways to approach any situation that I am dealing with at the present time.

Bionifight is, in a manner of speaking, my life right now. It is constantly in my head outside of BZPower, and it is all I can see inside BZPower. I spend very little of my free time away from BZPower or Bionifight these days; I am almost always connected to one of them (or both). This includes the site itself, this includes Skype, this includes sheets of paper and google docs. It is a rare moment indeed when something does not cause me to call Bionifight to mind.

My point here is that no issue is ever going to be resolved immediately, and in all likelihood, a solution might be a little slower than some of you would like in coming.

I need to improve on my response time. More importantly, I need to improve on making you all aware of my response time. Right now, the issue appears to be that you are becoming frustrated because we do not alert you when we have become aware of an issue and are taking the steps necessary to resolve it. This is an easy fix on our end: we just need to tell you. Or, more specifically, I need to tell you. Whether it is via the discussion topic (as I did last night for this post) or via Skype (or both), I must make sure to keep you all informed.

This is the reason why I haven’t: Awhile back, there was an incident where I was hosting another game alongside this RPG (you’ll notice that all games I was running alongside this have since… well, died). Due to the time limits imposed on the players of that game and the number of individual messages I had to send, I decided that the game took priority over Bionifight in that instance, and said so in the chat. Could I have worded it better? Almost certainly, although I do not remember my exact wording regardless.

The fact remains, however, that I cannot go a week in the Skype chat without that being shoved into my face, as though I were skirting my responsibilities; when in actuality, I had prioritized them. Many, many times if there is something I have not done (an IC post) or made (an announcement) or answered (the seventh question about whether a control room table just shows dots or displays names), my capabilities as a GM are questioned if I cannot perform the act instantaneously, or if I leave before doing so, regardless of my reasons for leaving. Because I have a life outside of this website for a children’s toy, and it will always take priority.

Yet when I have actively announced that I am aware of and dealing with a situation… quite often, I am unable to resolve it very quickly at all. Because I often find myself besieged with rants on that issue; and then the rants digress into tangents about unrelated subjects, and debates spring up. This process is exhausting and time consuming, and inevitably my approach will fail to please everyone anyway. Such is the nature of life.

That is why I will often remain silent until it becomes absolutely necessary, or simply work on it behind the scenes and pop up with a solution. It is why I often delegate the issues towards other staff members, because experience has taught me that there are players unwilling to consider the words I am saying…

...unless I say them through someone else.

I have done it time and time again - solving issues by communicating through Blade or Chro, and even recently using both Ehks and Xaeraz. If they are doing the actual speaking, then there will, of course, be subtle variations; and this is not to say that they do not solve issues without my involvement, because they absolutely do. But often it is in fact words that I have given them, knowing I will be shouted down if I say them but knowing the words will be accepted if spoken by someone else.

That is why I have been approaching the issues the way I did. Please remember that I am not saying that I was right - I am merely explaining what my point of view has been. I have no doubt that parts of it are correct; just as much of it is also incorrect.

As of now, I will be taking the following steps:

  1. I will make sure you all know that I am aware of an issue in the discussion topic, and am looking into it.

  2. Once I have reviewed the situation, I will make sure you all know that I am looking into possible steps to take and solutions to follow.

  3. Once a solution has been discussed with the other staff and we all agree, I will post the solution. Sometimes I may be open to constructive feedback or alternate suggestions; sometimes whatever we decide as staff will be concrete. You have no idea how much I hate these words, but it is always a case-by-case scenario; that being said, I will do my best to keep you informed on which is which.

I cannot do this alone, however.

Whether it is I or one of the other staff to make these announcements (if I am busy, which we shall touch on shortly), we need your help. Here’s what we need:

When we acknowledge that we are doing something (whether to resolve an issue or what have you), we need you to not bother us about it while we are discussing the situation.

That means no rants; no debates; no complaints; no questions. They are unnecessary and waste time that could be spent actually resolving the issue. Once we have announced that we are looking into a situation, that is it. If we feel as though we need your help determining a solution, we shall of course ask. We also ask that the decisions we make as staff are not questioned at every turn. If you truly feel that we have either overstepped our bounds or feel that a decision is inconsistent with statements we have made in the past, please contact us privately as a staff group on Skype or on BZPower.

We are in this together - staff with staff, players with players, and staff with players. Otherwise this does not work.

---

My absences in the past week. Let us now discuss those; let me now keep you informed. You might be surprised to know what has been keeping me away from Bionifight; why I delay an IC post one night and then forget about it until the next.

What is keeping me away from this RPG?

It is Bionifight.

In a manner of speaking.

No matter how I look at it, my summer is going to be extremely busy. Right now, I am looking at thirteen hour workdays from Monday to Friday and then additional weekend shifts on top of that. I am going to be dead. That was why I brought Xaeraz and Ehks on as Staff; so that we would have extra bodies to help while I am possibly unable, and to help run a special summer event for the RPG.

This big summer event needed to be something of a “fresh start”, so that any newcomers could hop on in with ease. It needed to be something separate enough from the main plotline of the RPG (and yes, there is one) that I would not need to keep a close eye on the story progression. It needed to be different enough from Bionifight to have that “wow” factor while still being Bionifight. What I had in mind before bringing Xaeraz and Ehks back on was some sort of lame tournament within a tournament or whatever that I knew needed to be changed if the RPG was to survive.

What they did was plant the seed for something that I think is pretty bad***.

For the past month and a half, the other staff have worked their butts off and poured their hearts into making this upcoming event as big and as cool and as scary as possible. I hope that you will all enjoy it once it begins.

But it needs refining. It needs the finishing touches, the finishing edits, the last minute changes and additions. Paragraphs that need re-wording, or locations that need to be re-labelled throughout the entire post. All of this I have been doing this past week, alongside trying to make us a map that isn’t as bloody terrible as our current one. It has taken massive amounts of my time as I do this and plan out the overarching story, tying it into the main plotline of the RPG while also keeping it separate.

That is what I have been doing this week. I wish I could say more, but then, I think you’ll all be finding out what exactly it is soon enough. It’s gonna be great, it’s gonna be huge, it’s gonna be bad***, and there’s probably gonna be bloody speeling errors throughout the stupid thing.

My work with it is still not finished. There is much more to be done, and my activity IC might continue at its current pace (hopefully drama will stop and allow it to increase though). But now you know why I have been more absent as of late; I am not intentionally avoiding all of you so much as I’m intentionally avoiding all of you.

For different reasons than the ones you were all thinking.

For those of you interested, we’re thinking maybe Friday. Maybe Monday. Maybe next Wednesday. Maybe June 4th. Who knows? We certainly don’t.

I think that’s all for now.

As BZPRPG Staff, BRPG Judge and OTC RPG Judge, I don't know a lot about GMing. But I do know this sounds like one of the most terrifyingly draconic "don't-argue-with-me-i'm-the-boss" stances I've ever seen an RPer take on players with dissenting opinions. "No complaints; no questions?" That's insane.

Can we take a moment to maybe consider what this might actually mean rather than automatically assuming the worst? Considering just that same attitude has already caused a lot of issues here in the first place.

It's basically just a plea for some space in which the Staff can actually try to discuss among themselves and come up with a solution to the problem at hand, without all the insane arguments that have been going on since anything needed solved in this game, especially after what we had last night. Tex has a big workload himself, and hardly ever does it seem like anybody even goes to Blade or Xae first, instead dropping everything on the Head GM's shoulders. Beyond that, whenever there is something that needs solved, nobody gives Tex a moment to get a word in edgewise, while the other two just stay away from the argument.

The whole time they're trying to come up with a solution, people are still going crazy and yelling at Tex, and making things virtually impossible for him to take time to solve the issue, because every time he does, then he's accused of just being lazy, ignoring everybody else, or purposefully brushing them off, which most of the time isn't the case.

When he or somebody else on the staff say they're solving an issue, it's out of your hands. Let them take care of it for the time being, go back to being calm and happy. If you have a problem with the decision, take it up with them politely, don't start ranting and arguing and going crazy like you have been. There are a lot better methods for making the vox populi heard than what has been done thus far, so how about maybe calming down for a while when the guys in charge ask you to and let them actually do what you keep telling them they should, hmm?

Please.

Read this.

It is not "no questions ever or ever". It is "Don't continue arguing about something when the staff say they are looking into it."

That means no rants; no debates; no complaints; no questions.

No problem, Big Brother.

I was the one who suggested the 'don't bother us' part. Specifically because of incidents like last night, where we were trying to discuss stuff; specifically I was trying to get everyone to calm down for a moment while I could get a chance to actually have BZP load so I could re-research the issue n question, and it just didn't really happen at first.

That's not to say that it's a common occurrence or that everyone does that; but, there have been times when we could have gotten things done a lot sooner, if there wasn't a bunch of times when the same things are just kept being repeated. And that is what this is for; not to shut people up... But to try and not have our minds fragmented a thousand times over while we're already trying to do stuff about it, is not going to make things better, it's just going to make them worse.

And overall? It's pretty much exactly what Grochi said; there've been some times when I've been approached first, but 9/10 times, it's always in main chat, and always Tex, and he's the one who always gets the flak.
