Hapori Tohu
Last month BrickFair rolled into Alabama for the fourth time. Bigger and better than ever, the event boasted more public, more AFOLs, and more MOCs than ever before. There were a lot of great creations on display ranging in a variety of themes from Castle to Town. A couple local LEGO User Groups had layouts as well, showing off their collaborations. And of course BZPower was there representing Bionicle! Read on to see what the show had to offer! Sevenizer1
I was at Brickfair! I posted some of what I saw on my youtube channel, Sevenizer1. I hope someone checks that out!
dotcom
The stuff about the off-brand stuff was...interesting. I generally agree about staying away from the cheaply made copies, especially the stuff that's just knockoffs of already existing Lego products, but. Wow. That Mega Bloks one was snooty beyond belief. Good grief.
Voxumo
I admittingly found the various articles for lack of a better term about the fakes to be interesting. I mean it's nice to see someone publicly calling those companies out on their... Behavior. Aside from that while I couldn't attend in person I do quite enjoy viewing all these photos. It's amazing to see just what the community, not just bzpower but lego community in general, is able to create when they get together.(Slightly fainted upon seeing a headshot of his moc on the frontpage) Edited February 6, 2015 by Voxumo: Lord of Ice Picks 1 Quote Banner made by Onaku BZPRPG CHARACTERS Syvra-Tivanu If you interact with one of my characters and I don't respond or acknowledge the interaction within a day, send me a PM. Prowl Nightwolf
Huh... where in Alabama? Depending that could have been right in my backyard. Though I guess not due to me being literally right on the corner of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, on the Georgia side. Drakua Toa of Rahi
While pointing out the knock-offs is good, outright making fun of an actually respected brand like Mega Bloks is a bit low. Kre-o, on the other hand; Hasbro really should just face facts on that they aren't that good at brick-based toys and license stuff like that to LEGO. J46 Nui
Yeah, I got over my unwavering loyalty to Lego as the one true building toy a while ago. Direct rip-offs are one thing, but there are just certain licenses that Lego either can't get or will not get for various reasons, and I rather have building toys of those things (mainly Halo and Transformers) from some other source than not have them at all. And its not like Lego came up with the idea for the studded building brick (though they did come up with the tubes on the bottom). Aside from that, I must say that Bionicle has come back in a very good way. All the pictures in the Bionicle album really show it, and it's great.

Though I guess not due to me being literally right on the corner of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, on the Georgia side. The event took place in beautiful Birmingham. Were there any of the lights and sounds themed MOCs there? There were two MOCs with motors and two with lights (although the batteries on one were dead). I did not take any pictures of them specifically, but will try to do so next time. Did people really throw their Optimus Prime sets that were give away at the VA Brickfair in the trash, by Kre-O? Toa Smoke Monster
I really need to go to one of these events someday. Seeing all of these in person would've been so cool. But still, these are really cool photos. The Bionicle section in particular is very cool IMO. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story. Ekorak
Having attended this Brickfair as my first ever LEGO convention, I can say with certainty I will be returning. It was absolutely fantastic. If I had a single complaint it was merely that it was very busy and hard to get pictures at times, but that was in no way the convention's fault. As others have said, the MOCs were pretty amazing to see in real life, but the most interesting part of it was probably the display about the LEGO copies. I agree about all of them aside from Mega Bloks, which honestly seemed like an open attack on a company that has branched out of its LEGO-wanna-be origins. tfg1_grimlock
I was at this event along with sending Black Six a few of my older MOcs, this even was huge this time around and much more exciting than before. I'm fired up about building some new Heroes along with showing off my masks I purchased while at the event. I also snagged a ton of 2000-2004 armor.
