BIONICLE Episode 5 Released in English

Recommended Posts

"The golden masks gave them elemental strength to defeat the Skull Spiders."

"Their amazing powers had been unlocked !"

I'm really starting to think that Lego might go for a "the power was always within you" - twist at one point. It almost sounds as if the golden masks actually unlock their elemental powers, instead of granting them extra powers. It would be nice to see such a story-"twist" for sure !

I don't think LEGO thought this through very well. They've made the Toa sets pretty close to perfect and made them really OP just so they'd live up to all the hype of Bionicle coming back and please the fans, so I bet they're going to have trouble trying to improve on them when they make new Toa sets in 2016. I'm hoping that the Toa use their golden masks for a bit and then lose them, but then they could maybe get their old mask powers from G1.

Though of course they would probably have to give Gali a new power though, considering she can already breathe underwater in G2, and I don't know about you, but it doesn't look like Onua needs any extra strength either. Perhaps Gali could have Translation and Onua could have night vision?

Onua already has night vision also...

The plot thickens...

It's a little odd that the Toa don't get their elemental powers until they actually get their golden masks. But like some others have already said, I feel like maybe the masks grant the power, and then they can keep using that power even if they aren't using the golden masks. But the thing about that is why would they need to wear the golden masks at all (besides swag of course)?

I also think this is a case where kids are going play with the figures as if they always have their powers, regardless of whether they're wearing their golden masks or not.

One way I'd also like to think about it is that the golden masks are simply a power upgrade. I mean, it's obvious that the Toa had powers already. We say Pohatu flying around in that tornado, and Gali breathing underwater is probably a power as well. The original non-gold masks obviously had to serve some purpose, other wise they wouldn't have names relating to each element that they belong to. Think of it this way. When Tahu puts on the golden mask of fire, he is granted new abilities related to his element that he didn't have before, and in addition to whatever powers he already had.

But that's just my theory.

I really hope these get longer from demand.

Hear me, Lego, we NEED LONGER Episodes.

In all seriousness, I think this is a good way for the story to be told. I just want to read the books, though.

Considering several episodes have been released in other languages, even if unintentional, it is probably a safe bet that the majority of production on this year's episodes has wrapped.

Ooh, so now Tahu's completed his transformation into feral powah-feelin' monster. To me, it also seemed as if Tahu's own powers were severely outclassed by those of the other Toa - all he gets is a big Baysplosion, and that's nothing compared to Gali's epic tempest thingy or Kopaka's forcefield. That's something I like.

"I FEEL THE POWAAAAAAH!" -Tahu, before

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Tahu, after

Agh! Still no clue as to what jungley powers Lewa has! Zappy green lines just aren't enough for me! :P

As a reply to other posters, on BIONICLE.com it says that Pohatu's Stormerangs make sandstorms, so the sandstorm in the video probably wasn't part of Pohatu's Golden Mask powers. In a similar vein, I imagine that Kopaka's force field is probably a function of his shield, as it does not seem a particularly icey power for the Golden Mask to grant.

I hope there is more story exploration into why the Toa only use the weapon mode of their tools once they have their Golden Masks (up until this point they were all in "adrenaline mode"). Do the masks awaken memories of how to use their weapons, or is it like in BIONICLE Chronicles 1 where Tahu needs to wear his mask before his flame sword lights?

Not going to lie, that was actually really exciting. I got really pumped up by that. I feel like this episode is gonna be one of those things we look at three years down the road and go, "wow, that's where it all really began" and get all nostalgic about it. Music was great, storyboarded nicely, really cool powering up and showing off sequences. They really held nothing back with the whole "unlocking their powers" thing, they look powerful. Can't wait to see what happens next. They've like, really made their proper transition into real Toa.

Does anyone know if this episode has been posted in english on Youtube? I've looked for it and can't find it anywhere on that site. I ask because for some reason the video on Bionicle.com won't play properly for me. All it does is flash in and out on a frozen frame of the video and play its audio. (I blame my computer for this. :P) So does anyone know if its on Youtube yet?

Yes.

Hear me, Lego, we NEED LONGER Episodes.

I can definitely say I agree with this. The episodes are pretty decently paced for their length but it doesn't leave any time for a decent resolution or cliffhanger... it just kind of ends. Wish they could have added like 30 seconds to them.

-NotS

I feel like the episodes would have been paced better if each Toa got their own episode to get their mask, not just making a montage of all of them getting it.

Basically, an extension of the promos would have felt better to me, as it would have introduced the personalities of each character rather than putting all of the character development into Tahu. I understand that whoever is red is usually the poster child, but there are other unique characters here, and don't even say that's not true, because Lego showed all of them in the episodes before AND Lego made them into sets that we bought. These animations are meant to show kids scenarios for them to play with the sets in, but how can they form other scenarios for the other Toa if they put all of the focus on Tahu?

Sorry for the rant, but I know it will get better. I just hope it was better already.

Thank you! :)

I liked this episode, even though I too wish it was longer.

I kind of got a DBZ vibe when Tahu shouted while beating the Skull Spiders. It reminded me of Goku screaming while he was powering up. :P
