Hapori Tohu
Despite LEGO just releasing a Frozen set this year (check it out in our Toy Fair coverage), Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa's Ice Palace by Fohzen has just achieved ten thousand votes of support on LEGO Ideas. While this set is definitely more impressive than the one LEGO made, and I love the inclusion of Marshmallow using CCBS pieces, I don't think the model stands a snowman's chance on a beach in getting made. We'll have to wait until the next review period though, and see how it fares with the rest of the models! Umbra of Doom
Looks like the link is broken for me. Here, in case anyone else can't reach it. Quite the impressive job on that castle. The use of transparent elements is impressive. Bfahome
How embarrassing... it really is better than the one Lego made! It's not particularly embarrassing, or really even unexpected. Unlike official products, people's individual creations don't have to take into account any of the marketing and production factors involved in set design. The reasons the official castle isn't as good as this are the same reasons why this probably won't become a product.
TheSkeletonMan939
The problem with the official one is that it has so much unnecessary junk like rubies, flowers, and... fire? In an ice castle? Who's idea was that? I mean, the general set design is good... it just looks too crowded with gaudy accessories. For starters, I'm pretty sure the spires are illegal connections, what with trans rods stuck in trans holes. Unless they changed how they do transparent plastic, that's not gonna fly. Setting aside the fact that Disney most likely got exactly the set they wanted (just look at other Disney Princess merch—accuracy to the movies is not much of a priority), this set would be extremely problematic. It'd likely be too large and complex for the Disney Princess/Frozen target market. In fact, the fact that it's mainly transparent might make it too complex for MOST people—unless Lego radically changed the way they did instructions, it'd be hard to distinguish the parts in front/on top from the ones behind or below them. I really like Snowball, but it is just a bit too overly transparent for me (I don't believe that it was that transparent in the movie). It could use some more solid blues and some glitter pieces to help break it up a bit more. Toa Smoke Monster
I have a thing for trans-blue pieces, so you can probably guess that I like this set a lot. Though it most likely won't get passed the next stage, I'm hoping on the slim chance that it will, because I would really like to get a set like this. Iblis
I love Marshmallow, & I think the effort that's been put in is plain to see, but I just think there's too much translucence for me, I know that (sound)s ridiculous & I don't think it's a bad set (& it makes sense to me), but yeah IDK, I like the Louvre, but maybe I need to pictures of this from some other angles, because I just don't feel as impressed with it as I should :$ Good luck to it all the same Quote ~ Sophistry: A way to be antidisuncorrect. ~ In a decade you might convince maybe a small tribe of people.
