Hapori Tohu
The end of our Toy Fair 2015 coverage is in sight! Today we're going to look at two perennial classics in the LEGO lineup - City and Pirates. City is really branching out this year into quite a few sub-themes, which offers a lot of variety. Pirates, on the other hand, is returning after being on hiatus for a few years. To see what the two are offering, read on! Vorahk1Panrahk2
Loving the deep sea and space themes for city- I think I'll have to pick up at least one of each of those. I also really like how the Pirates sets harken back to the more classic style (or at least the style of the 2009 sets) as opposed to the Pirates of the Caribbean sets we got for a few years. 1 Quote BZPRPG Profiles
Iblis
Pirates-Pirates-Pirates! I think they've done a pretty good job all round, although sets like Snowplow Truck have the typical slight-issue of seeming tall-but-boxy, maybe not wide enough, but eh that's just me & I think I can see why they aren't any wider or a bit shorter. I'm still not enthralled with Swamp Police, but I think they're easier to appreciate when your not seeing a huge LEGO swamp (like in the ads [aired in Australia]), conforming to the KISS principle really payed off (not to say they aren't detailed, there is a very consistent style & 60069 encapsulates the simple-but-detailed vibe...) & City Square... Can I buy half of a set? I like it all but my (toy) budget would rather I didn't buy it, so mayhaps I'll go halves with someone, who may or may not be my heathen partner who has minimal interest in LEGO anything, but others are also a possibility, I guess we shall see what happens... Am pretty pleased with the Deep Sea sets& the Space sets.Oh yes, & did I mention Pirates? Like others, I appreciate the more 'traditional' style they've gone with. (Although if all else goes very, very, wrong, I will still have PotC movies to look forward to; the 5th is set for 2017) Pirates-Pirates-Pirates-Pirates Pirates-PiratesPPPIIIRRRAAATTTEEESSS Quote ~ Sophistry: A way to be antidisuncorrect. ~ In a decade you might convince maybe a small tribe of people. Ta-metru_defender
Cheers to the deep sea boat for having a diving flag. Great little detail, there. Toa Smoke Monster
It looks like Bionicle isn't the only theme that can make a comeback after a few years. Anyways, these sets all look really good. I especially like the City Square set. That set looks really cool IMO. 1 Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story. Smitty
That pirate captain is disapointing. Brown facele hair ? Quote At some point you realize that you are but a speck in the Universe. That you time in this worlds is but a blink. You see the whole of reality as it unfolds before you. You try to see how far you can reach, and it’s not that far past your face. But then you come back from the brink. You hold them in your arms again. And you know that you are where their world begins. You are their rock. Aanchir
That pirate captain is disapointing. Brown facele hair ######?Dark red, actually. Which is appropriate, since he's basically a redesign of Captain Redbeard — my generation's pirate captain! 2 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
