Hapori Tohu
The combiner of Tahu and the Protector of Fire turns out not to be the only one we are getting, as a new combo model of Kopaka and the Protector of Ice has appeared on the LEGO Club website by entering the Club Code "ICE" (or by clicking this link). Curiously, this model already appeared in the Mask of Creation game as an alternate form of Kopaka. Do you think we'll get combo models for the remaining Toa as well? Lenny7092
Man, Kopaka looks epic! He looks just like this from the Masl of Creation game. I love his armor and how he holds his weapons. He looks like that he can take on like 30 Skull Spiders. Plus, it's interesting that his ski/shield pieces are used that his "wings" or extra armor or blades. I hope that we will get the other combiner models from the other Toa and Protecters because they are getting awesome! Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory! admiraltyphoon
Do you think we'll get combo models for the remaining Toa as well? Considering we've also seen pics of an onua combiner, I'd say yes. I cannot wait to see the Pohatu & PoS one!
Toa Lhikan Hordika
I initially tried building this combiner just be looking at various screenshots of the Android version of the Mask of Creation game. I'm happy to say that I was very close and all I had to change out were a couple of friction pegs used to connect the torso pieces together. I love that he has the Protector of Ice's weapons with this though because although his blade "wings" looked pretty epic, I felt that his bare fists were just missing something. I'm eager to see how close I was with the Onua combiner when they hopefully release it in May. I wish they would release these monthly though because otherwise we won't have all 6 combiner instructions until November. -

I wish they would release these monthly though because otherwise we won't have all 6 combiner instructions until November. Who said that the next combiner instructions would be released in May? Why not April or late March? I think the reason they suspect May is that so far the two we've gotten have each released alongside a new issue of the Lego Club Magazine. The next one of those will be in May. Of course, I would question whether we'd get these all the way through November, since when the summer wave sets come out Lego would presumably want to promote those sets with their own combi models. Which in ture leads me to worry that we might only get combi models for the three $20 Toa—after all, those three are really the only ones we've seen, so combi models of Gali, Lewa and Pohatu are still far from a sure thing. Toa Smoke Monster
I was wondering when we would get instructions for the another Toa/Protector combo set. I really like this combo model a lot. Though if I did build it, I'd probably use the white Mask of Ice instead of the Gold one, since I think that would look better on it. Here's hoping we don't have to wait as long for the instructions of the next Toa/Protector combo set. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story. Yeah that was the reasoning behind my guess for the instructions for Onua's form coming out in May. That would be kind of sad if we only got combo models for Tahu, Kopaka and Onua. I really hope Lego starts releasing the models more frequently than every other month. I wonder though if they will do combo models at all for the summer wave sets since each of the villains doesn't have a Protector-like counterpart to be combined with. That's not to say they couldn't create a completely new model that has no relation to to the models used to make them, as Lego has certainly done that before with Bionicle. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. - Edited March 1, 2015 by Toa Lhikan Hordika
Vahkiti Master of Time
If they are planning to do more combo models, we have no insight into their design, as the game literally does not yet contain their files: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/16704-onuas-alternate-form/?p=880643 So yeah, if I had to guess, I'd say my money is on Onua coming next since he's the only one left at this time. Votuko
Having built this, I am quite impressed by how cohesive it looks. I also like that they kept the pegs on the ski pieces so that you can put it into adrenaline mode. It would be nice to know whether the wing things have a function in-story, apart from looking cool, because I don't see them being very practical as armour. After all, while we haven't seen official Toa Kaita, it's not implausible that undead skeletons could mix and match parts even more easily than Toa in-story. No telling apart from that—maybe Skull Grinder could get a combi model like the Evo XL Machine one last year, just adding parts from the other four villains? Or perhaps they'll try combining the Skull Villains with their respective Toa. As you say, there's really no way to be sure besides waiting it out. Votuko
That would be kind of sad if we only got combo models for Tahu, Kopaka and Onua.Ah, don't forget that the Mask of Creation game has a combo model button on every Toa select screen (although most are greyed-out).It wouldn't impress fans if LEGO just removed some of those buttons later, so LEGO luckily seem to have committed to (eventually) revealing a combo model for each Toa. Sardrox: Will of Makuta
I for one would personally enjoy combi models with each summer villain and their respective Toa like Lyichir said above (ex. Onua+Skull Basher). The only Problem is that two Toa don't have their own villains (Onua/Skull Basher, Lewa/Skull Slicer, Kopaka/Skull Warrior, and Pohatu/Skull Scorpio). Tahu and Gali would be left out ( they already don't have special masks from summer sets). Although I guess they could use parts from Mask Maker VS Skull Grinder... It wouldn't impress fans if LEGO just removed some of those buttons later, so LEGO luckily seem to have committed to (eventually) revealing a combo model for each Toa. Actually, again, do it doesn't. Not unless LEGO decides to push an update anyways. However, judging by the fact that the PC version removes the alt swap buttons entirely, I'm guessing they've just given up. Well I've been spending the evening sifting through the assets in Unity. I have good news, and bad. The good news is that Onua and Kopaka's alts are both in the PC version, (they appear to be using more Protector parts on their models than seem to render in game. >.>) I also found Tahu's alt, and though from what I can see, it is indeed the Club exclusive combiner, either my assets are very incomplete, or so is the model. That brings me to the BAD news. As far as the other three Toa are concerned, the game doesn't actually contain the alts at all. The models for the combiners are actually completely different assets within the game. Where the normal Toa just start with a folder tree labeled after their name, the combiners are categorized under (TOA NAME)_Exclusive, which simply do not exist for Lewa, Gali and Pohatu. I imagine at some point the game will be updated with those models, but for the moment, I think it's pretty safe to give up hope of unlocking them ourselves. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but for the most part, this mystery is now solved. EDIT: Screenshots. Again, pretty sure my asset bundles are somehow incomplete, but this is the best I have at the moment. Edited March 1, 2015 by Vahkiti Master of Time Quote Admin of Mask Of Destiny. Nidhiki of the Shadows
Really awesome combo. Thought it looked great in the Mask of Creation game and it turns out it is pretty awesome as a combiner too. I like how Onua and Kopaka's alt. combo's give them some bestial traits (tail and wings), though I don't seem to see any sign of that for Tahu. Though yeah, it is kind of disappointing that chances are we won't be seeing a Lewa, Pohatu, or Gali combo with their Protectors. I'm guessing that (as many have theorized) next issue of the Club magazine will have Onua's model and that's it for these. Will probably build this when I actually get the Protector of Ice. xD Funny enough, that set and the Protector of Water are the only ones I have left for the winter 2015 line-up! -NotS
Zyphxion
I made this a while ago based on just the image from he game, lets see how it holds up to the actual instructions. EDIT: Huh looks like I only messed up on the shoulders and the back attachment. Also the instructions include one more black gear piece than Kopaka has, but it all works out when you use the piece the original instructions use. (And we are already waiting for an update because the App Store description of the game promises many more levels than are present currently.) However, it does seem odd that the PC version removes the buttons entirely (my Unity is somewhat dead so I didn't know that). Perhaps they just forgot to implement them, seeing as the combiner models are in the game files ready to be used. It would be very unprofessional of LEGO not to complete the features promised in their tiny game, but I guess it's a possibility seeing as three combo models and about 30 levels are currently missing in action... There will almost certainly be an update revolving around the summer wave sets (like there was for the past two Hero Factory games), so that would explain the missing levels. That doesn't confirm that there will be a full set of combi models though, and if the PC version does lack the unused buttons then an update to the app versions could just as easily remove them as well.
