Toa Flamedramon
I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of this, but anyway: Canonically, the Great and Noble Hau look similar to one another. But Lhikan's 2004 Hau becomes the 2001 version when turning Noble . So I had an alternate idea that Lhikan's Hau should be established as the Great version and the regular Hau should be the Noble version. Here's a quick example of what I mean: So any thoughts on this idea? Edited November 6, 2019 by Toa Flamedramon
The Hip Historian Iaredios
I don't think that's the case. The shape is defined by power levels. The two are the same power level, just different cultural styles, and when the mask was placed upon Jaller it adapted to his culture. I have no idea how it changed its shape into a great kanohi when the same didn't happen to others' masks. Maybe it was because it was a proper great-leveled kanohi (rather then empty matoran level) that had to do something with it. The southern Matoran Universe had small cultural differences between themselves and the Matoran of the north (largely Metru-Nui). I have always wanted to see other masks adapted for the southern matoran culture, or maybe we already had masks that were standard down there but because we lacked a proper comparison. Either way, the idea is cockamamie as I see it. Oh, and If I was wrong about anything about this post other then my own opinions, please do feel free to correct me. 4 Quote A RUDE AWAKENING - A Spherus Magna redo | Tzais-Kuluu | Pushing Back The Tide | Last Words | Black Coronation | Blue Man Bound | Visions of Thasos ن We are all but grey specks in a dark complex before a single white light
Regitnui
I thought it was the opposite now, with Gold Good Guy being Turaga Lhikan. Even as a Toa, Lhikan's hau was noble-shaped. Presumably it stayed that shape when he turned into a Turaga, and when given to Jaller it became Great-shaped. 1 Quote Elemental Rahi in Gen2, anyone? A write-up for an initial video for a G2 plot I really wish everyone would stop trying to play join the dots with Gen 1 and Gen 2 though,it seems there's a couple new threads everyday and often they're duplicates of already existing conversations! Or simply parallel them with a slightly new 'twist'! Gen 2 is NEW, it is NOT Gen 1 and it is NOT a continuation. Outside of the characters we already have I personally don't want to see ANY old characters return. I think it will cheapen the whole experience to those of us familiar with the original line... Nidhiki of the Shadows
Well, set design-wise Lhikan's mask can be explained due to cultural styles and the shape the mask was molded in, similarly to how Norik's Pehkui looks like a Kiril. However, the movie Legends of Metru Nui seems to depict Lhikan's great Hau looking extremely similar to the one Jaller wears, with the noble mask more stylistic by having a "beard" and appearing to be longer height-wise. Lhikan got a new mold because of his status as a limited edition set, and the new mask connection introduced in 2003 dictated a redesign. But I think the original intent was for him to have the same Hau design as Tahu. So both variations work as a great Hau. Jaller was wearing a powerless Great Hau. -NotS
Ballom Nom Nom
It had the 2001 version when Noble because of retconning. There's no need for an elaborate in-universe reason. Besides, in canon masks frequently take the appearance of different ones without issue. ~B~
Archon~
I don't like this idea tbh. MrSciFiGuy
Also I think the shape is a guidelines. Like, the Mata masks might be the original template, but mask makers can forge their masks with different designs while still retaining its basic shape. Its their own personal mark on their work in a way. Since, Noriks mask is shaped like a Kiril but is a Pehuki Quote Bionicle: ANP aims to create narrated versions of all the Bionicle books, with voice actors for each character, and music taken from various media to enhance the story. bonesiii
Wouldn't it be the other way around? Why make Tahu's mask the Noble one? But we already know what the Noble Hau looks like, from Lhikan's face (or at least the Noble form of his version). If you want this for MOCing purposes, since Lhikan's looks more like his Noble form, use that, and use Tahu's as the Great. Yeah? Akavakaku
I think the easiest solution is just to say that Gold Good Guy and Matoran Jaller simply use slightly inaccurate masks due to set limitations.
