dotcom Posted March 13, 2015 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I'm behind by like three weeks. I haven't seen anything since Winter Forecast. I'm just. Letting it all pile up so I can watch a ton of them at once. Will probably do that tomorrow. But yeah, Steven Universe is all around pretty much perfect, and has been from the very beginning. But as much as I like it, its got nothing on Avatar: The Last Airbender. I have never seen the first episode, maybe there is something important that happens that episode that has not been referenced it every future episode that would change my mind. Garnet is my favorite Gem. dotcom Posted March 13, 2015 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I caught up. This show is just wonderful and amazing and perfect. Rose's Scabbard and of course Jailbreak were the standout episodes for me. They were just...fantastic. Seriously, Rose's Scabbard was just really intense. The ending in particular when Steven is comforting Pearl and when they're playing with Lion. It's just...such a great example of what makes the show great. The character interaction and the people being great to each other. It's just so very good. Seeing the fusion theory confirmed was really awesome, that song was awesome. And it's even been completely confirmed that Ruby and Sapphire's relationship is romantic. Suck on that, Korra! (maybe). The characters are great too. *I really like how Garnet is a fusion gem, as it's almost like there is two different sides of her. A scared, hostile side, and a calm, sweet side. And how emotional the characters get is just amazing. I mean, look at Amethyst in On The Run and Little Butler. She gets emotional when she talks about the past.* Those are just some examples. The show gives you a slice of life, while being able to give you fantasy and adventure. The most recently developed animated shows are a far cry from what some of us grew up with, but it's a change for the better. I actually expected as such, given the release date being just after April fools, but still. The fanservice-y jokes were at least decent. Not the best episode, but it at least wasn't the absolute worst thing like a lot of people expected. Any episode with a song is a winner in my book, make that two, make it a Steven and Connie episode + feature my favorite gem strongly while going off with Rose feels. Best episode, is what I'm saying. Also, new intro, not as fancy as the old one but pretty great. All great episodes though, lots of interesting stuff especially with Garnet and of course Malachite...And we're getting another Steven Bomb next month so that's gonna rock. And it's not like Pearl made any effort to hide how she felt generally speaking. So Rose was either aware and played along or just ignored it as a Pearl thing. It's not like she hasn't spent thousands of years with her or fused with her before. She definitely should know how Pearl thinks by that point. On the other hand, while making Greg jealous/uncomfortable was her goal, it's not like Pearl didn't just want to fuse with Rose anyway, what with being crazy in love with her and all that. And the jealousy stems from that love, and Garnet has told us that when gems fused it's not as simple or concrete as just two people being in one body, they become one person and are fueled by the two's mix of emotions. I guess my headcanon would be that everything that is Pearl's love (including her jealousy, loyalty, possessiveness, etc.) kinda gets muddied together without the specifics coming into play. So Rainbow Quartz as an entity wouldn't necessarily be aware (or care) what Pearl's motives are, since they're just a small part of what she is. I guess? I dunno if that makes sense.
