Munty
Ok, this may seem like an odd question but I'm interested in acquiring some of the original kanohi in non-standard colours/materials so am wondering if they have accurate 3D models anywhere. And I mean set accurate, not movie, comic or whatever else. If anyone knows of a place/person that might have these I'd be very interested to hear about it. Alternatively, if you know someone who could make it happen I'd like to know about that too 1 Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!! Saint-14
While it shouldn't be too hard for some of the more skilled 3D-designers to make them, the only downsides I can see are a) copyright issues due to the trademarked mask designs (if there is one) and b) 3D printer colours might not be the exact ones needed (since Lego has distinct dye for their pieces) 2 Quote BZPRPG: Akamu, Toa of Ice Talk to me about Destiny! Toa Nekar
I don't know about 3d printing, but there is other means of obtaining masks ion non-standard colors and materials. DM me for more info. On the topic of 3d printing, I have seen a few on shapeways so check there maybe? Quote VV PM me if you have any of these masks! VV
Munty
Thanks for the posts guys. I don't think copyright should be an issue as I'm paying for the service rather than the design, it's a good point though! Colours not too big an issue either, I'm happy to make a few concessions regarding colours so long as they look right. They're only for display so shouldn't have anything to clash with... Will pm you Nekar as I'm the curious type! And also I have MEK from your wishlist Quote Check out my Bionicle store on Bricklink here!> > > Bionic Bricks < < < Let me know if you can help me find these last few collectibles! Also looking for WILD KRAATA and a VMKK Yo!!! bioniclepluslotr
I thought the whole point of copyrighted parts was that no one could recreate it .-.
Bfahome
The Nuva masks would probably be rather difficult to recreate from scratch, given their weirdly complex structure and general unevenness. Then again, a design that tones down the weirdness might be beneficial anyway. If someone could get an accurate 3D scan of them then that's probably be the best for recreating them, but I don't know who'd be able to do that or how accurate it would actually be.
