YOU SHALL NOT EAT!!!

I was not expecting The Wizard of Oz to be in this game, but I'm glad it is. Also, I just discovered the official website with more pictures of the game:

http://www.lego.com/en-us/dimensions/

EDIT: And now I just realized there was a link in the trailer. How did I miss that? :P

I'm so relived that this has nothing to do with an up coming movie! I'm also excited as ! Relivexcited?

At some point you realize that you are but a speck in the Universe.

That you time in this worlds is but a blink.

You see the whole of reality as it unfolds before you.

You try to see how far you can reach, and it’s not that far past your face.

But then you come back from the brink.

You hold them in your arms again.

And you know that you are where their world begins.

You are their rock.

Interesting, especially after the Wizard of Oz Cuusoo project got shot down, but now that's showing up here.

Since I have no platform to run this game on (or time/money to spend on it) I have little interest in this.  But it looks like it might be fun.

I like how themes that have pretty much already ended, like Lord of the Rings, and some new themes are being represented here. Too bad about the prices though.

Also, there is an extended trailer out (I saw it on the DC youtube page), and it features the scanner from Ghostbusters, so that may be yet another franchise to be featured in this game.

100 bucks?

It can't be worth that much.

Actually it works out to be about that much. $60 for a new video game, $30 for a 300 piece Lego set, and I guess the extra $10 would be the electronic parts. What is overpriced is the booster packs. $15 is way too much for what is essentially a minifig and some accessories.

I personally don't think a three-hundred-piece set is worth $30 - maybe $25 - and I certainly don't think a game is worth $60... even $50 is pushing it, and it had better be really good.

I might get this after reviews start coming in. But TT Games has really been spitting out a lot of disappointing titles lately... last one I really enjoyed was LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

Maybe they'll have a better time with this game since they have a lot more flexibility with story and gameplay, rather than being restricted to the dialogue and story of a movie (oh, the irony of that...)

Not thirty. Three-hundred. Well, technically 269—which, using the AFOL rule of thumb of 10 pieces for every dollar, amounts to around a $25 value. So, $100 - $60 game - $25 set leaves about $15 worth of electronics (which probably means the value of the game itself makes up less of the cost, considering that's the price of one Power Functions infrared receiver).

I have no idea what the gameplay for this will be like. But if it's anywhere near as fun as Lego City: Undercover, I expect to enjoy the heck out of it. And given the fact that it's a multiplatform game that's looking to try and stay relevant for several years, I expect they're devoting even more resources to making sure this one's a critical and commercial success.

Also $100 is about what a Skylanders starter set goes for.

That is a fair point! One thing that's often underestimated when trying to figure out Lego pricing is the cost of comparable products. That's a big part of what drives Lego pricing globally.

Also, another thing that will make that price a bit easier to swallow is that Lego has pledged that the current "starter set" will be the standard for several years. They're not going to release a new version that needs new software and a new scanner, like Skylanders has sometimes done—they'll simply continue to patch new figure recognition into the current game, and your year one starter set will remain compatible even with figures released several years down the line.

Infinity released 2.0 (with mostly Marvel characters to promote it) only a year after the original, and 3.0 is probably going to be a thing (almost definitely with Star Wars characters) this Christmas. I'm glad Lego isn't going down that route.

Yeah, but at the more competitive $75-ish Infinity is a bet easier to justify each Christmas.
