Hapori Tohu
And on we go with the series of Toa designer videos. Unfortunately, there isn't really any talk about the design besides the mask itself but we do get to see two concept art pictures and even a few plastic mask prototypes. Rooster Nui
It's a surprise to hear a designer talk about how the Toa achieve Battle Mode by obtaining a gold mask, as I haven't heard it from any other official source. I'm also surprised by how the designer showed off the 2008 Akaku, though I guess it's because it has more resemblance to the original Akaku than the 2008 Kaukau does to its original counterpart. It'll be interesting to see if any of the other designer videos do this.

I'm also surprised by how the designer showed off the 2008 Akaku, though I guess it's because it has more resemblance to the original Akaku than the 2008 Kaukau does to its original counterpart. It'll be interesting to see if any of the other designer videos do this.I think it's more because the 2008 Akaku was more influential in the new one's design (second to the original, of course). The new one's slightly streamlined shape seems to draw a bit from that depiction (compared to the almost spheroid original Akaku or the veiny, bulbous Akaku Nuva). In Gali's video, they focused more attention on the original Kaukau and Kaukau Nuva, which seem to have influenced the new one much more than the unpopular 2008 version. Vraiment
Any way we can get those concept art images in hight quality? 1 Quote Came for the sets, stayed for the story.
PDPsi HAN
I wish they would have gone into more detail on why they made Kopaka a huge armoured character instead of someone slimmer. A beefier Pohatu would have fit in with the Akamai trio and the Wairuha trio could have been a similar size as well. Quote AΨ
Lyichir
I wish they would have gone into more detail on why they made Kopaka a huge armoured character instead of someone slimmer. A beefier Pohatu would have fit in with the Akamai trio and the Wairuha trio could have been a similar size as well. I would wager it was probably to give the defensively-oriented Kopaka a bundled, guarded look. Plus, even if Toa Kaita were a concern, there's no reason for all three component characters of either Toa Kaita to be similar in build or stature—if anything, the more diverse, the better (so that rather than one giant Kaita and one puny one, they're still as equivalent in size as the classic versions). 1 Quote Formerly Lyichir: Rachira of Influence Aanchir's and Meiko's brother
doodleloot
I really enjoy these Designer videos. Even though they don't really speak about the figure as a whole, it still gives an insight into the design process for the masks, wich I find highly interesting. KZN02
My mind boggles on the lens being on the left side of the concept mask rather than the right, though that may be due to the 2008 Akaku. Quote The Master of Tediosness

Nidhiki of the Shadows
Love these designer videos. Keep em coming! Really interesting to see the designers. Also, really cool how they acknowledged Kopaka's Phantoka mask. Kopaka concept art is just amazing. Might make it my desktop background. Intricately detailed, almost organic as well as mechanical. -NotS

masterchirox580
DAT CONCEPT ART! In all seriousness though I really like the idea of Kopaka with ice sticking out of him, maybe next year. Also did anyone notice that the designer said the exact same thing as the designer in the last video in reference to the golden mask, #LEGOexposed! Quote It's time to move on. Toa Smoke Monster
It's cool hearing what the concept was for making Kopaka's new mask. Seeing those prototype masks, as well as the 01 and 08 masks, was neat too. Though my favorite part of this video was when it showed the concept art. I've said it once and I'll say it again: I love art like this. And these particular images looked great. I'm very interested in seeing videos like these for the remaining Toa. MrSciFiGuy
Surprised to not see the Akaku nuva there in the mask line up. Awesome video and I really hope they release the concept art in high-res online, because man they are just too interesting looking! Lenny7092
I love the concept art. Those are some very neat pictures! Kopaka looks epic in them! I like how his mask was previously designed, too. Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!
