IC: Anguis Nathair - Narsis Streets.

"I'm Anguis," she replied, trying to calm herself. "I, ah... I'm nothing, really. No fancy titles or anything like that."

IC: "Anything to declare, Outlander?"

The glacially calm Nord shook his head, visage roughly as expressive as some of the more avant-garde statues of Talos in his homeland. Not a force to be outdone, the Guard of Narsis let him in with just as little fuss or commotion.

He felt a pit in his stomach, and he also was halfway sure he'd sooner pick a fight with the local volcano than put another scrap of Horker jerky in his mouth.

So, there was the first goal of his stop here.

Food, nice and simple. A big place like this had to have somewhere decent to eat, and he wasn't all that picky to begin with.

Ignoring the growing amount of dust (or, it must be repeated, Ash) on his vocal chords, Artas roamed the streets, sticking out like a sore thumb and head and shoulders above most.

Not that it mattered. He'd never been one to be or have the need to be sneaky either.

"Scuse me. Pardon me. Hey, Moriche, how's it hanging my Arbronian? Good man." Dorian was carving a particularly chatty swath on his way to the kitchens, Tenth Divine wielded in a backwards grip in his right hand. "Scuse me? Anyone know where they keep the hashish? It's with the seasonings, right? Garlic and elves ear and all that ?"

IC: (Elianne. Castle Kitchens, Firewatch)

Elianne, who was at that precise moment skinning a rat (rats were gradually becoming a luxury among the soldiers, as rats generally don't take up residence in places that have a distinct lack of any other food to pillage) looked up at the Imperial before her with an annoyed expression. "This is a military fortress, sir," she emphasized the word, trying not to let her irritation at being forced to defer to someone in this way show. "Not a drug den."

(Mathyn Llethri. The Lucky Guar, Narsis)

The Dunmeri nobleman sighed. Peculiarly, while wearing a smile. "So be it. How long have you been in Morrowind, Breton?"

IC: Galos - Narsis Streets

"The market was that way..."

The Dunmer male walked through the streets of Narsis, on his way to... Somewhere.

"After the market, I have to..."

Galos spotted a Dinner (Anguis) and an Argonian (Bites-His-Tail) conversing with each other. Curious, his walk brought him closer to the conversing beings.

"Not many non-Dunmer would choose this moment, of all possible moments, to move to this country, I should say. Fascinating choice. Is it related to your seemingly not entirely amicable past with the Dark Brotherhood?"

(Elianne. Castle Kitchens, Firewatch)

Elianne looked at him sideways, mentally reading the Morag Tong's training booklet on useful idiots. "Who are you? I haven't seen you around the castle much. And you look too... uniform-less to be a legionnaire."

You don't know the half of it, sister.

"Legionnaire Dorian Doruani," he said, holding out a casual hand to shake. "Reported for duty to General Valerius on the 1st of First Seed, 4E 11. Relieved of duty by General Valerius on the 18th of Sun's Dusk, 4E 11. Pleasure and a half to meet you."

OOC: Gonna write Kelh in the present tense for a bit, see if it suits him.

IC (Kelh) [Narsis - The Lucky Guar]

Another snort is heard from my direction.

"Has 'e heard of the Morag Tong?" I echo derisively. "Has the Lord of Cormaris heard of the Morag Tong? Has a noble of the Redoran heard of his homeland's premier assassins' guild?"

I shake my head, emitting a few quiet hoots of laughter. This girl can't be real.

"I don't even speak the bloody language and I know my fair share about the Morag Tong."

"Look... I have a very... specific skillset. There's not a whole lot of options for someone like me, and with the Brotherhood pretty much wanting my head on a silver platter, and the Thieves Guild thinking I'm dead because of said Brotherhood bounty... The Morag Tong is the only legitimate assassin's guild in Tamriel, and is probably the only place in all of Creation where I'm welcome."

Mathyn crossed his arms on his chest. This girl had pretty unequivocally just admitted to having been an assassin. Probably Dark Brotherhood, too, regardless of her apparent disagreements with them now.

"The Morag Tong," he spoke, softly, "isn't prone to putting out advertisements for job vacancies. There are guildhalls throughout all the cities and some smaller towns of Morrowind, but you'll find that recruitment isn't as simple as knocking on the door and asking if they'll accept you. Back in the not-so-recent past, you could ask around in Mournhold - rumour had it that was where the Tong based themselves after the destruction of their central base in Vivec. But then Mournhold got sacked by the Argonians. You would have to talk with a member of the Tong to know where to find them."

"When you've eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be true."

Eponine took a large gulp of shein. "So, once I've found everywhere the Tong aren't, or better yet, can't be, then I'll know where they are."

Leaning back, Eponine smirked. "I've tracked down one of their members to Narsis. So, I find the guildmember, and assuming he doesn't kill me on sight, I'll convince him to tell me the guildhall's location."

Only a couple of people on Morrowind the lass could have crossed that would have put her in trouble.

"Well, there's no writ out on you that I know of, and I doubt you'd be stupid enough to walk into the middle of House negotiations if they were after you. The thieves guild doesn't kill, out of necessity, so that really leaves only one group.

You're running from the Commona Tong, yesss?"

His eyes, though orange and fierce, had a glimmer of intelligence, and no small amount if sympathy.

He'd had his fair share if run ins with the native criminal guild. None of which had been pleasant.

He took one last look at the Orc.

"Shame. Well, I'd be letting my House down if I didn't at least escort you to safety. Or, rather, offer to," he chuckled, a sound that was somewhat disconcerting given his reptilian nature.

Ain't gonna lie, she thought to herself, this guy seems too young and undisfigured to be one of Valerius's indeed. Something about this story seems off, though. But... maybe he can be of use.

She sighed and, chopping the rat she had just skinned into geometrically equal parts, gave Dorian a surprising smile. "Understandable. Can't think of a single Legionnaire who ever seemed even remotely... fun, yeah. That would be the word. Or went to the castle kitchens looking for hash."

"Let's see..." Eponine began to count. "I incurred the wrath of the Temple of Akatosh when I saved my town from becoming the site of a daedra summoning by killing the clergyman responsible, though the Imperial courts cleared me of all charges... I ticked off the Thieves Guild by putting one of their own away for a long, long time... And let's not forget the spawn of Malacath's feces, the Brotherhood. Good gods, the Brotherhood..."

"Let me give you some unasked-for advice, my outlander friend," Mathyn said, smiling. "First off, I have to congratulate you for picking a country to flee to just right. Our Thieves Guild is weak, the Dark Brotherhood is unwanted, and as for priests of Akatosh, you'll find that it's difficult to find any who still live. But your outlandishness will shine for some time yet. If you want that... highly specific skillset, as you put it, to come to use, you'll need to find a way to blend in. Get a job. A place to live. Get chummy with one of the Great Houses. The Morag Tong... they're a long path to walk, and even despite their legality and the honourable nature of their work it's not a convenient way to get started in this country, being tagged from the first moment as a threat to another's life. You need a cover."

(Elianne. Castle Kitchens, Firewatch)

Mentally, she sighed at what she was about to do. Physically, she grinned, and tossed aside a strand of her red hair.

"I know some people, though, if you know what I mean. Assuming you still... want some."

Dorian narrowed his eyes slightly and cocked his head in thought. On the one hand, Dunmer had no love for Imperials, were in fact fighting a war of subterfuge to get away from the yoke of the Empire, and looked upon Imperial alcohol and drugs as though they'd been breast fed to baby Dark Elves. In addition, this suspiciously attractive woman had walked up to him, a suspiciously attractive man, saying this wasn't a drug den before saying she maybe knew some guys in a drug den, and that she needed help with a vague task that probably involved improper leveraging of his falsely begotten power.

Dor's squint deepened.

"Ma'am, you have my blood oath."

She barely withheld herself from raising an eyebrow. Dorian's enthusiastic reaction surprised her just a little bit, she had to say. After all, if the discharged legionnaire had proven to have just a little bit of suspicion in him, this would not have worked out so well for her. Unfortunately, it was at this precise moment that the legion's chef (a more correct term would be 'mass poisoner', mind you) walked into the kitchen, throwing a suspicious glance at Dorian.

Elianne, however, knew how to play this just right. Swaying her hips, a sensuous smile appeared on her face as she leaned in, conspiratorially, and whispered in Dorian's ear, with the explicit intention, seemingly successful, that the chef would misinterpret this. "I get off in one hour. The abandoned house on Castle Street. You'll know it when you see it; all the other houses are filled with Hlaalu and... or Gold Legion. Don't keep me waiting."

"Elianne! Stop fraternizing with the troops on the job!" her boss growled. Smiling, she knew her trick worked as she went back to making that disgusting gumbo the soldiers took for food.

The Argonian laughs, a sort of soft hissing.

"Hardly. I'm just here to get my swords touched up."

He unhooked his scimitar and wakizashi, handing them over to the Blacksmith's apprentice.

"But besides, they won't bother you in here. Certainly not in front of a Redoran Retainer."

He gave her a smile.
