I find it... ironicish (someone tell if I used ironic right) that this is more of a 'LEGO Universe' than LEGO Universe ever was.

I will admit I am fearful of this being nothing but a Minecraft clone with a LEGO skin, though.

On Bota Magna, everything is about to fall apart.

Did anyone see the part of the trailer where it showed easily modifying the surrounding terrain to create mountains and caves so EASILY?!? :bigeek:  Never have I ever seen a Lego game I wanted more than this. :eyeboggle:

Dudes! This is like, what I've been waiting for, for like, ever! Imagine a LEGO video game where you actually build things! (Would have thought that was a given but apparently not) Seriously, I may actually be tempted to buy this, which is saying something since I haven't been the least bit interested in any of LEGO's punch-brick-get-studs games (virtually every one within the past decade) in a LONG time.

Looks like this game is open to suggestions too.

Awesome!

It actually looks pretty neat; I'm tempted.

Wonder if that means they'd be open to me advising some feathered dinosaurs, despite their current products not having them.

Considering this isn't a JP licensed game or anything, I should think feathered dinosaurs would be more palatable, though I understand they'd prioritize resemblance to current products as much as possible if they include dinosaurs at all. still, maybe it'd be worth a shot.

Firstly, this looks awesome. Finally, GGGManlives might find a Steam Early Access game that doesn't suck.

However, since I am lacking both money and a gaming rig, I shall instead nitpick, for it is truly the only thing I can do. Namely, I'll be a graphics snob. I've always disliked the style of animation used in LEGO games, since it doesn't look like real LEGO. I would've instead liked to see the style used in The LEGO Movie, where the least realistic part of their movement was them shrugging a little bit. That was awesome.

Other than that, though... Yeah, this looks great. If I'm allowed to build whatever I want in an open world LEGO game, then it'll be the best LEGO game ever. As of right now, though, I can't even play it due to my computer being a lemon. When I do get a gaming rig, I'll make sure to get this game, as long as it's full release doesn't suck.

Who knows? It's looking to be the next Minecraft, maybe it'll fix the problems I had with that game.

EDIT: Dina, I think it's time to get the reptilian ancestor of a monkey off your back and admit you have a bit of a dinosaur addiction. You're hooked on hadrosaurs.

Considering it's based on actual Lego parts, the only way they could really do feathered dinosaurs would be "printed" decorations (quotes because obviously it's all digital).

The first thing I thought when I played Minecraft was "I wish this was LEGO." Sounds like a game I'll be interested in! The trailer, however, makes it look like a totally sandbox game, like a game version of LDD without any challenge. I hope there's some sort of gameplay that's not just building virtual LEGO; the trailer shows some gorgeous terrain, I'd like incentive to go exploring.

It looked like there was combat in it, so there's that. Also, many people want to see multiplayer, so that might be a thing.

I'm not sold on it, the game looks way too much like minecraft and I honestly don't see much point in cloning that thing (in the sense that's it's already dominated that market).

There's always Terraria, which is a Mineclone done right. This... also looks like a Mineclone done right.

Alright that's true, still though I'm not too sure about it. Also steam early access in a new thing for lego, let's hope they don't abuse it like so many other developers.

It's time to move on.

A Lego game that's similar to Minecraft. That idea has so much win.

I hope that it won't be steam exclusive though.

Aside from Minecraft, I'm wondering how this will affect the launch of LEGO Dimensions because whenever the full game comes out, it seems that Worlds will be indirectly competing with LEGO Dimensions. Of course, will have to wait and see as the game is incomplete and Dimensions isn't out yet. Maybe we will see the Dimensions packs having some function in Worlds.

while i will agree it may look a bit too close to minecraft in some areas, but also, another open-world sandbox game is pretty neat to have. :u

Also, the terrain looks beautiful and i'm wondering if you can just alter it right away or if you'll need to quarry out lots of bricks before making anything ridiculously large o:

(and that focus on ostriches is great. :b)

I'm so excited to play this when I get home from work. (I'm on my dinner break right now) to those who have played, is there ccbs in the game? If not, maybe in a future update... Bionicle! That would be awesome.

Dimensions and Worlds are very different types of games. Dimensions is for people who want a story-based game that allows them to link up characters from vastly different pop-culture franchises, but it won't allow players to build or customize every aspect of the characters or the world within the game. Worlds is an open-ended game allowing players to build and explore a vast world built entirely out of bricks, but won't have the kind of story or dialogue Dimensions brings to the table. Each game fits a specific niche, so I don't expect them to compete with each other any more than existing Lego games already do.

E: I think this tracker ticket regarding a possible Lego Video Game sub-forum might be getting more relevant by the day.

I couldn't agree more.

Anyways, this looks like it will be a lot of fun to play. I'm very interested in learning more about it.

For those of you who are worried about this being a Minecraft clone, I wish I could tell you you're right? There's huge potential here for a game but even with the ability to fly a dragon 5 seconds in it still feels... empty? The controls are kind of cumbersome and the gameplay is not very intuitive (I find), and the UI is somewhat overwhelming for the simplicity of the game.

"It's early access" so far is my mantra.

If it's moddable, I'm in.  If not, there's this:  http://store.steampowered.com/app/250340/

I've always felt that these big honkin' sandbox games would be perfect using Legos instead of voxels.  If I can tinker with it to mod in all the Portal/Quake/Bionicle/Pokemon goodies I want... well....

Oh, anything's moddable.

It may not have workshop integration for said mods.

But anything is moddable.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, it's possible to import .lxfml files, by plonking them in the "AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGOWorlds\Mods\Models" folder. Brick-library-restrictions apply, of course.

And to add on to that, if a model is imported with bricks that don't exist in the game, then the offending bricks will not be rendered or placed and you can place substitute parts where the other parts would have been. (I don't have the game yet. Nealybealy told me this.) It's really nice to know there's LDD compatibility.

Interesting! I knew that LDD compatibility was a goal for the final software, but it's neat to see that people have already found a workaround to allow it at this early stage. In the final release the ability to add LDD creations will probably be integrated into the program itself, to make it more user-friendly and obvious as opposed to a hidden feature.
