MOClet - Reverse Engineering

MOClets are what I call the little experiments I make with Bionicle and CCBS pieces. Nothing to actually count it as a MOC but more as practice to see what sticks.

 

While making these practices to try making a matoran of my self moc, I thought of something: How did Lego make the toa mata body? First thing to come to mind was that they buildt a prototype out of technic pieces. Here's what I buildt to reverse engineer that idea:

With this, there are actually more available holes in the gear box, and the structure can be expanded for larger models. In fact, the gears have a greater friction to the gearbox, the arms stick. With the fact that this works so well, I felt like posting this MOClet in case anyone would like to try it to add a gearbox to their MOCs.
