Tuuli
We've all been fans of Bionicle for a really long time, long as we can remember. Bionicle has been a great part in my development as a child it always inspired me to do more, it made me create characters who had to socialize with eachother in order to survive in their world. But after Bionicle ended in 2010 I slowly began to stop playing with my toys. I didn't really build anything else after that either. When Bionicles recently came back I was thrilled, to no end! But now, midyear I think I'm finally beginning to lose my imagination. Can that happen? Can we really lose something as important as imagination? Imagination can be like any other skill—without practice, you can become worse at coming up with creative ideas. Sometimes inspiration can break you out of that cycle, but often the only solution is to get down to building until you come up with something. It's important to avoid giving up, even if you're not happy with your results—again, practice makes perfect. 2 Quote Formerly Lyichir: Rachira of Influence Aanchir's and Meiko's brother
Tuuli
Cool thanks it's sometimes hard to find the time for it with work and all but yes I appreciate it
Aanchir
I think this is something a lot of people go through as they grow from kids to adults, even outside the BIONICLE community. As kids, we are full of curiosity that pushes us to explore lots of different creative ideas, whether that be in the form of building, drawing, or storytelling. But as we grow older, not only does a lot of that energy and enthusiasm wear off, but we also become a lot more critical of our own work, and preoccupied with whether our time is spent productively or purposefully. As my brother said, the important thing is continuing to push yourself and not give up just because ideas don't come to you as readily as they once did (or because you're not as satisfied with the ideas that do come to you). And of course, don't get so caught up setting goals for yourself that you forget to have fun! Not every character you build or every story you tell is going to be a masterpiece, but that doesn't mean the time you spend building and coming up with stories isn't valuable. 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)
fishers64
I do feel that writing is slower as I get older, mainly because the stories take more ideas and more development in order to satisfy my quality standards. But I never feel like I run out of ideas or imagination. What's more prone to bother me is that I write more sad and depressing stuff as I get older. It seems to be harder and harder to find bright, lighthearted stuff to read, and I think it's affecting my brain. I still write the sad poetry and stuff that comes to mind anyway though - rejecting ideas because I don't like them is a practice I abandoned. So my imagination is still there, but I keep feeling that it's getting darker. 3 Quote Hero Factory RPG | Bionicle Mafia XXIX: Storyline & Theories
