IcarusBen
So... am I the only one who headcanons Takanuva as a Toa Nuva? His design is based on the Nuva, he's a part of their team, his name has the word "nuva" in it! Taka-NUVA! Am I the only one who thinks he's a Toa Nuva? Petewa
They say he's an honorary member. Though something I've always found strange was the fact that if he were a toa nuva, he would've been called "Takua Nuva" instead, his original name got shortened and combined with the word "Nuva" Quote Mataru Nui, an Interactive Adventure
Rahkshi Lalonde
well he basically is, he's part of the team, has the look, has the "nuva" he's got everything but the advanced Nuva powers/kanohi i think. o: (but as a Toa of Light i'm p sure he's at base more powerful anyway? so who knows.) Light is generally considered to be more powerful in the sense that it's one of the two elements tied to the moral balance. To answer the original idea, Takua renamed himself because he was disappointed about never receiving a new name after the Bohrok Wars, like his friends Jala/Jaller, Maku/Macku, and Huki/Hewkii. The name has nothing to do with his power. When a Matoran transforms into a Toa, they take on the traits of what they believe a Toa to look like. Vakama & Co looked like Lhikan, because he was the most prominent Toa in their minds. Takua had been so used to seeing the Toa in their Nuva form that his mind adapted that form. His power level is exactly the same as any normal Toa, so no, he is not a Toa "Nuva." He is considered an honorary member of their team, because he is a friend to them. 7 Quote ~Your friendly, neighborhood Shadow ~Credit for Avatar and Banner goes to NickonAquaMagna~
Regitnui
I actually headcanon him as a member of the Toa Mahri, filling the gap left by Matoro's Sacrifice. The team is made up of his friends, he's closer to them in power level and experience, and helps the Mahri 'take over' as the primary Protectors of the Metru Nui Matoran (and the Av-Matoran/Voyatoran, who I suppose joined them in Metru Nui) 4 Quote Elemental Rahi in Gen2, anyone? A write-up for an initial video for a G2 plot I really wish everyone would stop trying to play join the dots with Gen 1 and Gen 2 though,it seems there's a couple new threads everyday and often they're duplicates of already existing conversations! Or simply parallel them with a slightly new 'twist'! Gen 2 is NEW, it is NOT Gen 1 and it is NOT a continuation. Outside of the characters we already have I personally don't want to see ANY old characters return. I think it will cheapen the whole experience to those of us familiar with the original line... (from a marketing standpoint then, Matoro is pretty obsolete right about now...)
TheSkeletonMan939
I think the real-world reason he's Takanuva is so that no one would discover the name and piece together that Takua was the Toa of Light before the film was out.

(from a marketing standpoint then, Matoro is pretty obsolete right about now...)Well, character death has a tendency to kill marketability as well. The fact that Takanuva has white as one of his primary colours factored into my decision. Also, since the Mahri all look different from each other, with an 'angel' Ga-Toa, a hunchback Le-Toa and a stocky, dwarven Po-Toa, Takanuva's Nuva-like look would fit right in. 1 Quote Elemental Rahi in Gen2, anyone? The name of the seventh Toa still could have leaked early, as part of the toy's description or something. Better safe than sorry.
