Dinosaur sightings

How many times have you walked down an aisle of a store and seen a complete bionicle dinosaur? I mean sets that are two years old or higher and still on a shelf.

I have seen a tarakava set for $25 once at a store called Tuesday Mornings, and this was in 2003 or 2004. I also once saw a Kopaka set there in 2003 (mata version) but opted instead for a Tahnok. I bought the Piraka stronghold there in 2008 for about $50.

I also went to Toys R Us once in 2003 and found it filled with turaga, some pohatu matas, and a Nui-Rama. I also saw a blaster throwbot there a few months later, along with the ice throwbot.

How about you guys? Sets 3 years or older are worth double  :P

I believe it was back in 2006 when I found a 02 Pohatu Nuva set among some Avak sets. I didn't get it though.

Okay first of all I came into this topic with completely the wrong impression.

So did I. :P

I can't really think of any instance where I've seen a 2+ year old Bionicle set in stores. Maybe once in a ToysRUs but I rarely visit those. The ones I normally frequent get rid of their inventory too quickly I guess.

I do remember buying a Slizer / Throwbot set in a KBToys back in like 2003, so they would've been quite old by then. KBToys generally had a lot of older sets... because I guess they didn't sell, which makes sense why the store chain went out of business. :shrugs:

Recently I haven't really seen any Lego dionsaurs when I walk down the toy aisles because the Jurassic World sets are selling out too quickly. :P Even the Lego Store didn't have any of the larger ones in stock when I was there last.

Small toy stores often generate the best selection for oldies instead of chains.

Anytime I roadtrip I stop off at mom and pop thrift stores or weird little outlets and I'll find sets from 06-08. I come across Inika and Piraka the most

I found this old toy store that I used to go to that still had most of the 2006 system sets, and this was back in 2013.

as well as seeing the stars in my local toys R us as recently as last year (2014), and even into the relaunch of Bionicle.

there was another store that I used to go to called the toy box that still had the visorak (while the store was still in business) and this was back in 2012 and they still had a poster on the door that featured the Toa Metru.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the biggest lie told in history.

Not sure if you're referring to me, but what I said wasn't a lie. It was a relatively small family-run toy store that was in a calmer part of the town I live in. It's not exactly a rare occurance that big sets with high prices don't sell as well as smaller sets. The shop owners didn't even lower the price in all those years. I guess nobody was willing to buy an old set at full price, when they could get a newer one for less.

If he's referring to me than I wouldn't blame him, but I'm not lying, everything I said is true.

Now what would be a lie is say that 'I found a storage room full to the brim with every single bionicle set ever sold in an old abandoned toy store that I used to go to when it was still open"

Guys! Guys! I found a storage room full to the brim with every single bionicle set ever sold in an old abandoned toy store that I used to go to when it was still open!

Actually, this is possible. I used to collect Transformers and this one guy found a store in a dead-end town that had the entire original line. He bought every single figure they had.

I saw Tuma in 2008 in November or something like that.

I did buy Gali Nuva in like 2006, though, I think, in some underground comic and toy store. By underground, I don't mean illegal, I mean literally underground. I think there were a few other Bonkle sets, though I don't remember any of them.

:a: :r: :z: :a: :k: :i:

I got Monster Hunter World on PS4, add me at bmrjw2 if you want

Also I play FFXIV, my main is Anastasia Willow on Exodus but I've got characters on every NA datacenter.

I pretty much stopped buying sets from stores myself after Woolworths closed down so I've never seen any old sets sitting on shelves years after their original release (that I can recall anyway).

I bought a few sets from Argos after Woolies shut but they operate differently than most stores, so there was no chance of seeing old sets.

A Bargain Center in Vermilion Alberta had some 2003 Matoran. I would have bought one but they were marked up a lot. I think they were each 10$ CAD. It was about last year that I saw them so I'm not sure if they still have them since I moved last November

Back in 2006 I saw Toa Lhikan in Toys R Usarrow-10x10.png . In 2009 I found a couple of Toa Mahri sets in Wal-Mart. And in 2005 half of the Bionicle section at a Target still had late-2003 sets. I could have gotten Sidorak, but instead I got Takanuva  B-)  (I now kinda wish I had gotten The Makuta instead as I have lost both masks of light that came with Toa Takua).

Okay first of all I came into this topic with completely the wrong impression.

I thought he was going to start talking about those biomechanical dinosaurs from the unproduced fifth movie.

Anyway, I too have seen sets at Tuesday Morning. Hafu and Macku around (I think) 2005-2006, Battle of Metru Nui around 2006, Piraka Stronghold in 2007, and Pridak in 2008.

Target had Takanuva into 2005 or 2006, and Makuta (2003) into (I believe) 2008. I saw Vahki with Vahi and Disks of Time in 2005, and perhaps Rahkshi with Shadow Kraata around the same time. I got Nidhiki and Krekka at Walgreens in 2005.

My friend went to Po-Wahi and all I got was this lousy rock.
