Indominus rex Breaks Free

Recommended Posts

Hot on the heels of the Rivendell project, another model at LEGO Ideas has reached ten thousand votes of support! This times it's Indominus rex by senteosan and if that name sounds familiar it's because his Bricksauria: Tyrannosaurus rex and Jurassic Park projects have each achieved 10,000 votes in the past. The I. rex build is very similar to the T. rex model, with the obvious differences being the color scheme, the front arms, and the spikes along its back. It's a great-looking model, scientific sensibilities aside, with some interesting techniques used to achieve the organic shape. Now we'll just have to see how it fares at the next LEGO Ideas review!

Gah, these models are all so beautiful, they really mesh well with the original designs. It's such a shame that Lego sadly didn't approve the "Jurassic Park" set as put in the OP. I really hope that this set will go through, but I don't have high hopes.

Let's see, bunches of parts in colors they never came in (including discontinued colors)? Check. Digital render with no evidence that the model is even structurally capable of supporting its own weight? Check. Based on a recently-obtained license with questionable staying power? Check.

As a digital model, this is decent, but it has a lot stacked against it in the review stage. Even the Rivendell project at least used a physical model to prove both its stability and an existing parts selection.

Its an impressive set, though I thought it had red lines on its back in the movie. Maybe that just couldn't be done here. (Or I'm remembering it wrong. :P) Either way, I like this set a lot and wish it good luck in the review stage.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.
