Coming soon to BZPower: The Great Being Civil War.

Recommended Posts

The tale that everyone has been waiting for, year after year.....now the Mad Great Being has finally taken matters into his own hands, and written up his own version of the tumultuous events following the Melding.

BENEVOLENCE

In this first stage of the gathering war, continuing from where the Chronicler Farshtey left off with the Yesterday Quest being hunted by Vorox and the Powers that Be having dumped Kopaka and Pohatu in the Red Star while Velika rigs a bomb, the strange events leading up to the Revelation of Velika are given.

While the Yesterday Quest team escapes the Vorox (a given, once they get beyond range of the dampener), Lewa has the bizarre experience of finding the female Agori he is staying with while he learns the ways of the Jungle Agori, is falling in love with him, a concept he hasn't the foggiest conception of.

The Element Lord of Earth comes upon Helryx and Tuyet as they search for clues to the bomber amid the burned dust of the fortress, and arrests them as criminals. Because the earth partakes of death and the dead are buried in it, he is not only wise and thoughtful, but far more clearsighted than his brethren. Lewa, being taken to meet the Earth Tribe, is allowed to visit them, only to watch in horror as the Marendar appears out of thin air and painfully disassembles them. Lewa is spared by a mob of Agori, which confuses the machine.

And then in a dream that the Piraka Fusion causes everyone on the planet to have in one night, Velika reveals who he is, and names the faction of Great Beings that stand with him, as the Benevolence.

MALEVOLENCE

After Velika comes to power by a clever trick, the perfect world he constructed begins to fall apart as the inhabitants see through it and begin to bicker. Tarduk partners with a female Matoran and runs afoul of the Benevolence by voicing a wild theory, and is forced to flee. He partners with Makuta Miserix and the Alternate Teridax, as the foes of Velika gather to oppose him.

A new Makuta is created by Brutaka, the last of the species, as the pool of Antidermis is dying from cold. The new Makuta was made....from a Toa of Iron who was in the vicinity.

And Sahmad, travelling into the north to find the graveyards of his tribe, meets up with Metus and Ahkmou.

Then Tahu penetrates the forbidden territory of the Skakdi Mountains, finding the secret concealed within, and uses his status symbol position to, via illusions in every settlement, cut the ground from under Velika by exposing his gigantic trick. In the midst of this speech, the Marendar is unleashed upon him by Velika, who is unaware that Tahu is still on camera. All Sphereus Magna now knows Velika for what he is, and Velika cracks down.

And meanwhile the rest of the Great Beings, led by Angonce and the Alternate Teridax, have banded into a group named the Malevolence, and are fortifying the Maze for battle.

MALEFICENCE

The climatic events of the Civil War are related in this final book, as the Benevolence transforms an entire city into war monsters and society disintegrates into a martial-law nightmare, and the Shadowed One makes plans to control Destiny itself. In the midst of all this, several Original Skakdi penetrate the Tree of Destiny and the three Wells of Destiny beneath it, discovering the secret to how the Great Beings arose, and meeting there their own destiny. To bring the Illumination to the warring planet, they must travel to the Chair of Sight far in the west and unleash not only Moral Shadow, but Moral Light, so that everyone will see himself as he truly is, and hopefully come to his senses.

Meanwhile Sahmad also achieves his destiny, and the eighth Element Lord is created from him, and Sahmad becomes....the Element Lord of Iron. Entering the fallen Great Spirit, he makes it stand up and move.

While the Malevolence has created an Ultimate Weapon, that preys only on Great Beings: an astral creature, a mind-eating spider that preys on higher minds. But it will not stop with the Benevolence. Only Mata Nui himself can kill it.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

VELIKA: The Matoran wraith who drifts along unseen in the shadow of his possessed body, but who can be seen by beings of Earth, as Earth partakes of death. And he alone knows the location of the real body of the Great Being possessing his body.

VALENTAR: Known to all as Velika, he sent his mind into the body of the Matoran Velika and has access to almost unlimited inventions and weird technology, giving him the ability to do almost anything that needs doing at any moment. He expresses himself in riddles that frequently hint at other things than what is being discussed. Ruthless yet crafty, he does intend to rule benevolently.....after a few kinks are ironed out of the way.

TAKANUVA: The first Matoran ever constructed, and the only one not made using Energized Protodermis as he was the experimental prototype, he has the unique destiny that no Great Being can act directly upon him, mentally or physically. As such, he is the only being who can overcome and kill Valentar.

TERIDAX: The identical twin of the nemesis of the Matoran Universe, sent here from an alternate dimension, he made exactly the opposite choices in life, and is determined never to become like his twin. Philosophical and kind, yet grim when needed, he is the only being who can be absolutely trusted as a moral compass. His fault, if there is one, is that he is too conscious of his own capacity to evil, which makes him fall into a guilt swamp when he uses the Mask of Shadows in dire need. For this he is berated by Takanuva.

ANGONCE: The only moral Great Being, he is heavily burdened by consciousness of guilt and knowledge of the evil he and the rest have done. Even still he lacks the necessary force of will to resist the constant attempts of his brethren to create weapons that will win the war, regardless of morality.

TAHU: Wearing the Golden Armour, Tahu has discovered by studying lists of the 43 Kraata powers that he can summon each and every power. As yet inexperienced in this, he is put to the test of his life when he faces the Marendar, which can copy any power used against it.

ARTAKHA: Cold and benign, the tremendously powerful exiled lord escaped the burning fortress and intervened at a critical moment on the Red Star, and now coming to Sphereus Magna finds that the Toa are all agog at discovering that Velika had given them minds and now claimed their allegiance. Though he sees through Velika, he is not powerful enough to escape him, when Velika suddenly shuts him down.

THE MAD GREAT BEING: Insane yet rational, he escaped the burning fortress by the fact that the heat came to life near him, and Vezon transported him away. Then he met the Mask of Life, which cured the curse and bestowed it as a true power in compensation. Consumed with rage and grief for the deaths of the victims in the fortress, he fortifies an underground lab so that not even Great Beings can breach the shields. There gather Teridax and the forces of the Malevolence not in the Maze.

THE MASK OF LIFE: He is the eye that Mata Nui keeps open in his sleep. Making himself a body, while Mata Nui detaches himself and slumbers in his chamber, the Mask walks as a Toa, observing what is happening, and not liking it. He is the only being the Great Beings cannot hide from, for he tracks them by their life forces.

MATA NUI: Wise yet weary, the mysterious spirit who has lately learned so much about life slumbers in a hidden place, the Mask sending him updates via the link they share. But the astral plane shakes beneath the mind-spider, who will consume Great Beings, and then lesser beings, mind after mind. And Mata Nui may be too weary still to fight it and win.

THE SHADOWED ONE: We've all been wondering what the heck he would do with those vials. It is Tahu who finds out, upon being captured by him. The Shadowed One no longer aspires to criminal dominance, nor to a mere earthly empire. He is after something bigger. Namely, the reins of Destiny itself.

HEREMUS: Vicious and murderous, the most ruthless of the Great Beings and the creator of the baterra, he is also the reason they did not shut down. Now he presses Velika, urging harsher measures.

SKIFF: One of the last surviving Original Skakdi that weren't on the island when Spiriah mutated the species, he is bluff, hearty, good-natured and courageous, as well as cunning with weapons. When he drinks of the Well of Destiny, he gains both Light and Shadow.

MAZEKA: Expert in weapons and fighting, he takes out thirty Skakdi in a mob battle, rescuing Tahu and Onua. During the War, he volunteers for one last desperate experiment, and becomes the first Toa of Sand.

SAHMAD: The sardonic cynical ex-slaver of Agori legend, Sahmad has really only one purpose in life: avenge his tribe, and then rejoin them. The first has been accomplished. But as he travels to carry out the second, the world changes around him, and the earth awakes and groans to find that it was Benevolent. Directed by the Element Lord of Earth, he comes to the Tesera lab, and becomes the Element Lord of Iron. Not only does he raise the Great Spirit, but he makes the entire armies of Sphereus Magna literally dance to his tune. All in vain.

DESTINY: The third and most mysterious of the Three Virtues, it is fate....and at the same time, free choice....but the balance between the two, how is it carried out, and if it is interfered with, will that person in truth control Destiny, or will Destiny control him?

KRAHKA: The shapeshifting Rahi can take on any shape, and with it, the power of that shape. But what happens when she meets a Great Being face to face, and to save herself, takes on that shape? Will she die from the agony of her mind growing huger to fit, or will she wake up, as they did, when they drank of their Destiny?

Sleep spares him pain! Awake, he suffers!
