Are the Inika Actually Zombies?

Recommended Posts

You can read this bit if you want. It was the first version I posted, which deviated greatly from the theory I came up with in my mind.

I was thinking about the whole thing with the Inika and the red star's lightning, and I came up with a theory. What if the Inika were actually killed by Karzahni, but due to the chaos of Karzahni (the place) and lack of Kanohi, the red star was unable to take them. Karzahni then attempted to rebuild them, and then sent them to Voya Nui, where many other rebuilt matoran are. The red star was finally able to access their bodies, but malfunctioned and instead of taking the bodies, it infused them with the spirits of other dead toa and/or matoran, causing them to be revived and drastically changing their bodies. Their masks became organic as well due to the spirits of dead stuff. Not realized they were dead, they just continued on with their lives.

Of course, a single quote from Greg will probably prove me wrong, but I tried.

Now here's the original theory, the one I thought up without entirely changing the storyline.

What if the Inikia were actually instantly killed when struck by the lightning, but since it came from the red star, it may have brought spirits of the dead with it, infusing the (soon-to-be) Toa with both spirits and lightning. The influx of energy caused them to transform into Toa and gave life to their masks.

Yeah, that one sounds far more plausible, now that I really think about it.

Thoughts? Am I a genius? Am I talking out my butt? Am I just full of it? Is Hewkii's color scheme terrible? These are the questions of today's society.

...alas, the Red Star's return function was broken.

But while we're on the subject, it is a very likely possibility that the Red Star was once white, but became stained red with the blood of tortured souls and broken dreams.

Okay, little confused here, buddy.

The story clearly stated that the six Matoran traveled to Karzahni's realm, headed toward the southern Continent, where Voya Nui used to be. Karzahni thought they were sent there, rather than travelling on their own, and believed he needed to do his job on them. He started with switching their masks. From there, they met an Av-Matoran who had built Toa Canisters, and he helped send them off to Voya Nui. Th RS is a part of MN's system, so in the event that something went wrong with him, there was a protocol in place that would allow it to create new Toa. Coincidentally, the six Matoran were travelling outside the robot in Toa Canisters, and the protocol targeted them, causing a transformation.

Karzahni transported Matoran via ships to other lands, not teleportation. He couldn't have sent anyone to a place that was no longer where it used to be. Nowhere in the story was a point for them to die, since Takanuva escorted them to the gates of Karzahni.

Did I misunderstand the question? Because it sounds to me like you asked for the whole plot of Legends #2. :P

@irrie

Perhaps the star walks alone on a boulevard of death, blood, and broken dreams, the only road it has ever known.

@shadow
I will attempt to clear confusion when I'm not about to pass out. For now, let's just say everyone went insane and all of 2006 and beyond was just an "acid trip," if you will.

I'm on my phone so I can't quote or edit. That other post was directed to irrie.

Ah, gotcha. Even so, that would mean we have to answer for a lot of things that aren't entirely related to the mission of the Inika/Mahri.

They got hit with the red star, electrocuting them and turning them into extremely muscular, powerful undead warriors.

Then again, we could also say the same about the Nuva, that their systems got overflowed by the protodermis and they are now controlled by an unknown "protodermis hivemind".

...

Arzaki you and I need to write this.

Maybe the lightning killed then, and the Ignika revived them but made them ugly because the Ignika is an a-hole.

The ignika makes everything it touches ungodly levels of ugly to compensate for how it's stuck being a flipping piece of metal for all eternity.

Or the Red Star did them a favor and gave them the BIONICLE equivilant of Thor's power.

This isn't a theory. This is random fanfiction conjecture, with no basis or relation to the actual plot of the storyline. Yes, the Inika could be zombies, and Karda Nui could be made of candy, and Makuta could be Vakama's cousin's former roommate. But I wouldn't count on any of those.

Not realized they were dead, they just continued on with their lives.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're dead I'm fairly certain you have no life to get on with.

Valid point. What I meant by this was they didn't realize they had died before and been infused with the spirits of dead people.

And yeah, I suppose this would be a better fanfic. To be honest, my original theory was that the lightning itself just killed them and then replaced their spirits or whatever with spirits of different Matoran. I decided to go a bit further, and I realize now that I probably should have kept to the original one.

I'm actually just gunna go edit the main post now.

Maybe the Ignika gave him true life again so that he could die again. Morbid, sure, but this IS the Ignika.

The correct answer to this question is a single word: no.

Do I have to dig up the Greg quotes that tell us that the Red Star had an emergency Toa-izing system that was used on the Inika? :P

Really?

Oh.

Well.

Um.

Um.

If it's any consolation, Jaller died and came back to life, so I guess he would technically be a "zombie" under this definition.

Although I was pretty sure that zombies were physically deformed and metally damaged, neither of which applies to the Inika. The beings on the Red Star might be having some problems, so if you want to write zombie fanfiction all you have to do is crash the thing on Spherus Magna. And then have some fun.

This just makes me want a year where the Toa are zombies, or something.

Ghidora and I are planning a fanfic based on the 2006 and 2007 years in which this theory applies, essentially making the two darkest years even darker. Trust me, there will be lots of death.

Will Jaller OM NOM NOM brains?

Not exactly...

OM NOM NOM brainstalk, and his victims are left with no eye color.

Elemental Rahi in Gen2, anyone? A write-up for an initial video for a G2 plot

I really wish everyone would stop trying to play join the dots with Gen 1 and Gen 2 though,it seems there's a couple new threads everyday and often they're duplicates of already existing conversations! Or simply parallel them with a slightly new 'twist'! Gen 2 is NEW, it is NOT Gen 1 and it is NOT a continuation. Outside of the characters we already have I personally don't want to see ANY old characters return. I think it will cheapen the whole experience to those of us familiar with the original line...

Um. Do MU inhabitants have blood?

Not really. It was confirmed by Greg that the heart-lights pump some sort of lubricant, but that isn't really blood.

... right, thanks. That's just weird. Thanks to this thread, I have visions of zombie-Inika covered in slimy lubricant, chowing down on Voya Nui matoran. Anyone got brain bleach?
