OOC: Has the dropship carrying Jimmy Abacus and co arrived at Hero Factory?

OOC: Yes, it has.

Also, are you guys heading it under camoflage? If so, what are you camoflaging the ship as? That kind of affects what happens next.

IC: Jason Ferro- Cargo Ship

As the brain parasite left the Beast's head, Jason released the magnetic field and removed the harpoon. The beast was now fully aware of his presence, but didn't attack. It instead looked hungrily at the brain, still writhing in his hand. Getting the hint, Jason gave the brain a powerful electric shock to kill it, and threw it to the beast, who happily began eating it. Before Jason could think of what to do next, five considerably tougher looking beasts emerged from the water and surrounded him, each encased in natural crystal armor. Well then. This is bad. It was unlikely he could defeat them all alone, but it was his duty as a hero to keep them away from the civilians. In the blink of an eye, Jason repelled himself from the ship's deck, allowing him to backflip over one of the beast's heads, and over the side of the ship. As he fell, he fired a harpoon at the brain attached to the beast's head. As he went over the side of the ship, he anchored himself to it using a combination of magnetism and his spiked boots.

GM NPC CRYSTAL BEAST

The harpoon anchored in the brain, stunning it (because of the electricity) and falling off the beast in question.

GM NPC JAW BEAST

The Jaw Beast began snapping at the Crystal Beasts, yelling at them in beast language to go away.

OOC: Aight well here's Quark's profile, as I said I'd put up. She probably won't be used any time soon, but since I mentioned her I'd better make sure she's up to snuff. Also, who knows? There could be an emergency or something, and I'll need another Hero.

Hero Profile:

Name: Dorothy Quark

Powers and Abilities: Quark is able to survive in the cold vacuum of space indefinitely- however, this does not extend to extreme conditions, such as flying close to stars. Additionally, she’s been highly trained in just about any space-oriented skill- from flying spacecraft to zero-gravity fighting.

Weapon(s): She carries a laser blaster- it’s as functional in space as she is- and a pretty nifty light sword. It’s basically a blade that functions as an ordinary sword, but is made up of solid light. It’s a science-fictioney kind of sword, but it doesn’t have anything special about it. But it can turn on and off, and the blade tends to have a good bit of force when materialising.

Appearance: I don’t have a picture right now, but imagine a particularly sour Buzz Lightyear, because that’s pretty close. Quark is slightly bulkier than the average Hero due to her extra armour plating to protect from the harsh environment of space. This plating does not extend to her face and head- her armour has a retractable, reinforced, transparent dome that can click over her head in a manner reminiscent of an astronaut’s helmet. She does have thrusters built into her boots to propel her when in zero gravity, but they don’t work that well when on planets with average or high gravity.

Her armour is shaded in white and bright green, with purple eyes and Hero Core (the Buzz Lightyear comparisons never end). She often looks surly and somewhat tired of things in general, and it is rare to see a smile upon her face.

Bio: Quark, leader of Thumper’s and Flood’s team, was once a lot more chipper about her job (before the aforementioned Heroes even existed), but an incident involving her team losing a veteran Hero and the team’s entire group of rookies has impacted her immensely. She had been the one to order the veteran Hero to leave the rookies be, as the situation had left them in a position where they could not be saved, but the veteran tried to rescue them anyway. As a result, they were killed, and Quark felt it was her responsibility to have done something to prevent it- but she couldn't, and for that she felt that she could not be put in charge of a full team again.

When she and the remaining member of her team- another veteran- had new rookies join their ranks, she did not trust herself to defend them on missions anymore. As a result, their team rarely operates as a whole, instead the specialised Heroes being sent with more experienced teams requiring their particular skill set, deciding that they would be better at protecting the rookies than she would be. Quark, however, continues to train her team as rigorously as a high-ranking team’s leader would, determined they would be able to handle themselves if the need arose.

She may be rough and abrasive, but she has a real soft spot for her team. She cares deeply for their wellbeing and her ire is usually well-meaning if they have worried her. If anyone else tries to seriously threaten her rookies, though, she is ruthless.

Her days are spent training, working missions, or reading.

Before anyone asks: According to the chapter books, plain Heroes cannot survive for very long in space.

Approved.

Alright, folks, it has come to my attention that some folks were disgruntled following the earlier demise of Project Hatchet. :P The reason I didn't approve the profile with it is that it could not logically exist on Tranquis VII during Mission #1. Now we are at Mission #2, and I see no reason why that organization cannot exist, provided that it is something that more than one player is dealing with. I don't want this to be "I'm just going to create my own legion and use it to overpower everyone." RPG, but at the same time, artificially limiting creativity and straitjacketing the factions strikes me as a bad idea. So if you have a faction in mind:

Name: [Faction name]

Position/Moral Alignment: What is your faction's position on Hero Factory? the galatic conspiracy? Other villain factions?

Characters involved: Who is a part of this faction?

Base/Resources: Where is your faction's main base of operations? What kind of resources do they have? Please keep these realistic. An underground faction might have a few ships, a corporate faction might have a huge fleet. Since we don't have ship profiles quite yet, just give me a general idea.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. You need at LEAST three characters and two players involved to build a faction. This is not a everyone builds their own faction RPG and makes a huge army legion. (Preferably more, but don't subsume everyone into your faction.)

2. The characters involved in the faction must be approved before the faction is approved.

3. I reserve the right to cap off the number of factions if it gets too crazy. If your faction is causing problems for other players, I may decide to wipe it out.

Have fun, but don't get too crazy with this. <_<

GM IC TRAFEROUS & ADAM WEST (W/CROWLEY, TRANQUIS VII)

Adam West leaped out of the vehicle, glowering at Crowley. "Is he my new replacement?" he snapped.

Traferous sighed. "Adam, please behave yourself," he said, glaring at him. "He is our honored guest. And you really need to work on your landings." He shoved the anti-quazatic back toward the dropship, heading that way himself. "Any more of that," Traferous hissed in Adam's ear, " and I'm going to put you in that power draining net again. Do you want that?"

Name: Project Hatchet

Position/Moral Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Characters involved: Epsilon, Delta, Theta

Base/Resources: In the underground of Antropolis city, a much smaller facility than its rival. They possess stolen equipment from Hero Factory to make their own heroes, with twisted morality, more deadly weapons, and immoral powers.

Name: Agent Epsilon

Powers, abilities, weapons: A pair of dual machine guns, with about 25 bullets in each clip. He also possesses a small combat knife on his leg. Unfortunately, the technology used to make heroes for Project Hatchet was unfinished, and was not able to give Epsilon powers. He knows basic close quarters combat, and can easily give another hero a hard time.

Appearance: About average sized, with spiky, greyish green armour.  His hero core is the shape of an epsilon symbol, with a purple glow. His shoulder also bears this emblem, in bright yellow paint. His helmet is similar to that of a gladiator's, with a mouth guard and eye guard. He is thin, but not as thin as Theta. His eyes are purple.

Bio: The first hero ever to be created from scratch by Project Hatchet. His design basically represents what Project Hatchet is, cold, militaristic, efficient. Unfortunately, during the creation process, something malfunctioned, and he was not able to be given powers. Heaven knows what other effects it had on him. He follows orders, plain and simple.

Location: In Antropolis, in the Project Hatchet facility.

IC: Jason Ferro- Cargo ship

Jason pulled the harpoon back to him, not knowing if it had hit it's target or not. To his relief, it had. Pulling himself back up onto the deck, Jason saw that another hero had boarded the boat, and was ordering the beasts to stop. Jason didn't know how the other hero thought that could possibly work, but at least the distraction gave him time to fire a harpoon at yet another evil brain.

Full Name: Agent Theta (goes by “Theta” to anyone who knows him)

Gender: Male Species: Hero Organisation: Project Hatchet

Equipment:

  • Supplies

Powers:

  • An incredibly powerful telekinetic ability with multiply capabilities:

            - Psychically lifting and moving heavy objects

            - Shattering and ripping apart objects with mental force

            - Throwing bolts of telekinetic force

            - Creating temporary semi-solid force constructs (shields, simple weapons etc.)

            - Achieving limited flight and levitation

  • Every second of using this potent psychokinesis requires varying degrees of focus. Usually visible as a faint purple glow.

Physical characteristics:

Theta is a little taller than your average Hero, and is clad in industrial-looking practical battle armour. Its purples and greys are faded, the paint scratched to reveal his gunmetal body. His helmet, and the outer layers of his armour are geometric in style. The helmet in question covers his entire face, and has a deep scar running across the right eye, which is dark. His other eye is burning white. Theta’s “Hero” core is cast in the shape of an upper case Θ, and is onyx-black, while being obscured by armour plating. He also has the same symbol picked out in white on his left shoulder. Theta is of average strength, but increased agility and speed.

Weakness: The Agent tends to over-rely on his powers, which he has become accustomed to using.

Mental characteristics:

Before his conditioning, Theta was level-headed and calm, not letting any emotions show in case they were exploited. However, the operation that gifted Theta psychophysical abilities also gave him an unpredictable and erratic temper, and a more cynical and generally contemptuous outlook on life.

Bio:

Project Hatchet had recruited rogue “heroes” into the organisation on several occasions before Theta’s arrival, but Theta was the first of them to undergo a highly experimental procedure that granted him bizarre psionic powers. Therefore Theta carries no weapons: he is the weapon, and is used for infiltration, terror attacks and raids.

OOC: So the ship cannot render itself invisible? Only camouflage as something else?

OOC: *headscratch* Eh, that's what's canon, so, uh, yeah.

Traferous' ship has a cloaking device, but it's bigger and has a forcefield that it uses to do that. My excuse for now is that the generator is too big for a dropship, and that it's easier to mask a ship's energy signature by using another image than it is to remove all traces of it altogether.

Have fun, but don't get too crazy with this. <_<

Why, then, did you post this in front of me?

Because I know you, and I was trying to stop you from wrecking the entire RPG.

"Nobody will ever replace me." Adam West said, thumping his chest with glee. Traferous shoved Adam West into the back of the dropship, where the promised power-draining net was waiting. "Most certainly not that cheap organic monster."

OOC: After four hero profiles, finally a villain profile.

Villain Profile:
Name: Delta

Powers, Abilities, & Weapons: Delta is able to manipulate the fundamental forces of reality in a five meter radius around himself. That includes the Electromagnetic force and Gravity, as well as the weak and strong force. How ever, altering these forces requires equivalent energy from himself, which means he cannot split atoms as he sees fit.

His "hero core" is nothing like what present day heroes use. Shunning the quaza completely, it instead opts for a singularity matrix, which never has to be recharged as the singularity continues to recharge the power storage units. The power storage units also have far greater energy capacity than present day hero cores, meaning he has more energy at his disposal.

Appearance: Delta looks like nothing from this time period. His form is complex and graceful, the parts all come together to form one being that looks as close to the text book definition of perfection as is possible. His white smooth form is decorated with beautiful geometrical details, contrasting large sections that are plain and smooth. These two elements form an elegant dance across Delta's armour, with the occasional light lines glowing light blue. His face is completely smooth, aside from the cheeks which are indented and decorated with the same geographic detailing as the other parts of his body. The eye holes are angled rhomboids, through which can be seen light blue glowing eyes that seem to extend all the way under the holes.

Bio: Delta comes from a far future, and was constructed only a relatively short while before leaving his own time period. It is unknown how he managed to get back into the past, but any knowledge he has is of events that happened shortly before his time period, which means he has no knowledge of any events in the soon to come future. He does how ever have rudimentary knowledge of Project Hatchet's origins, and thus he travelled to Antropolis to seek out the present day's version of his organization.

Traferous closed the door after Crowley, like any good gentleman, and grabbed the controls. "I am the very best pilot!" Adam shouted for no reason, still stuck in the power-draining net.

"No, you're not." Traferous said, taking off, "you suck at piloting. As well as everything else too, because you have too much of an ego to actually learn anything."

Not approved, since the reality altering probably immunizes him to attack.

Here's a quick bottom line for determining OP-ness in this RPG: All player-characters (and frankly, a lot of GM characters must be able to be killed/maimed/injured/harmed/stopped by SOME method. This does not mean that your character can be killed by ANY weapon, but it must be able to be killed by SOMETHING.

Being immune to fire? Awesome. If I throw him in a lake, he might drown. Deflect lasers? Sure, as long as I can hit them with a missile launcher. If someone wants to fight someone else, there has to be a way for one of them to win, even if it might not be obvious or the same for each character or lessened because they are in water or in space or whatever.

OOC: Delta isn't omnipotent. His manipulation of the fundimental forces has its limits, and he has in no way mastered every aspect of it yet, which means a well placed sneak attack will put him well out of commission. But even a prolonged fight could drain him if he kept on fighting, which means that eventually he won't be able to use his reality bending, and he can be killed. Honestly, the main thing is to either outlast him, or to surprise him, or the third option of overwhelming him, because even he can't fight on multiple fronts simultaneously.

OOC: Surprise attacks from Heroes... never heard of that one before.  :P

And how are you going to outlast a guy who can basically control the universe?

I'd give him a more concrete weakness, like cold temperatures or something.

"Actually, check out this map," Furno said, bringing it up on the Dropship's screens. "There seems to be multiple underwater entrances along the coastline out there, and even inside the city itself. They dispatched Vex to go to one of the dry ones in here." He pointed to the screen that showed the blinking red light of a Hero distress call inside the city.

"However, the long range sensors in Antropolis suggest that most of them come from here." He pointed to a large cave inside an underwater ridge. "They call that the Rift. That's where we'll be going."

IC: Jason Ferro- Cargo ship

Jason grinned under his helmet as the second brain fell to the ground, moments before he heard a low growl mere inches behind him. Seconds later the beast struck, intending to decapitate the hero with it's sharp beak-like mouth. Jason just barely managed to grab it's jaws as they fully closed around his head, leaving them inches away from killing him. The beast's jaws were strong, however, and Jason knew he wouldn't be able to hold them for long. Summoning all the concentration he could muster, Jason repelled a large crate to his left from the ship's guardrail, sending it sliding towards the beast at a high speed...

IC: Crowley - Dropship.

He idly wondered if these two were actually a couple or something. They certainly bickered like one...

OOC: Okay, let's try that again. Kind of busy and tired yesterday, so I wasn't thinking too straight. But I'm all for nerfing the **** out of Delta.

Also worth noting is his inexperience in using his powers, meaning he is not yet able to access the full potential of them, leaving him with only crude manipulation of gravity and the electromagnetic force. The electromagnetic force he can only control through either electricity or magnetism, and is incapable of directly altering electromagnetism itself.

His white smooth form is decorated with beautiful hexagonal grid details, contrasting large sections that are plain and smooth. These two elements form an elegant dance across Delta's armour, with the occasional light lines glowing light blue. A light blue glowing delta symbol is indented into the centre of his smooth and beautifully curved chestplate. His face is completely smooth, aside from the cheeks which are indented and decorated with the same hexagon grid detailing as the other parts of his body.

Approved.

OOC: Is Ghid attacking the beast that's attacking him, or the one attacking Ferro?

OOC: I'm waiting for the answer to this question before proceeding.

I'm working on the Nimus/Captor thing with Onaku and that's why that whole thing with Traferous and Crowley hasn't been moving that fast. (He still hasn't answered my camoflage question.)

OOC: Yeah, let me take care of that for you.

IC: Nimius Ardor and Captor

Location: Tranquis system

What seemed like and read like a simple asteroid streaking through the void of space contained the growingly anxious Nimius and Captor, as they made sure to calibrate the trajectory of their "asteroid" to pass by the ship rather than crash into it. The scan was just about complete, and hopefully there would be a gap in the ship's sensors that would allow them to approach once they got within the gap. As it was, the "asteroid" was still some ways off from the ship, but it would pass it by soon enough.

IC: Epsilon

The bullet smashed through the target's head, the dummy falling to the ground. Epsilon span his gun around on his fingers. He was still awaiting orders, after 24 hours of the mission being announced. Theta sat watching, silent, as usual. The new guy was also nearby. Epsilon didn't trust him one bit. His abilities and build was more advanced than anything he's ever seen being built in this time. But, granted, the facility could use him. Epsilon holstered his gun, and sat.

IC: Delta

Location: Project Hatchet Headquarters

Delta's journey had already been a long one at this point. He had been created many centuries in the future, and had experienced his own timeline only for a short while before suddenly and abruptly being torn out of his timeline and thrown into the past. Or as the natives liked to call it, the present. It had taken Delta a short while to realize where he was, but when he looked upon the naked stars, he realized precisely when he was.

From then on, relying on rudimentary information, Delta had travelled from system to system, searching for a way to a city called Antropolis. And now he was finally here, at precisely the location from which his information had told him his organization had originated.

And now here he stood, cautiously eyeing and observing these members of Project Hatchet's early moments.

IC: Markus Vex - Hero Pod.

He clambered into the pod and turned on the comms. "This is Vex, requesting permission to launch."

OOC: So Agents Epsilon, Delta and Theta are all on Traferous' ship? Epsilon's profile said he was there, so I want to be clear.

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

Flood pulled on his slime-free gloves with a snap and fiddled with the screen. "If it's all right, I'd like to use this for a second. If I can get some information about their tidal zones and seasons, and find something about the animals' habits, we might be able to get a rough idea of 'hot spots' to try looking in. Brains can read the memories of the host- hopefully that extends to their behaviours, too."

GM NPC FURNO
"Go right ahead. It's not my specialty, but they hired you for this one for a reason."

GM IC WILBUR FLOOD

The screen in front in front of Wilbur would show him some of the basic oceangraphy of Streptos II. Unlike some other planets, most of the ocean on this planet was near its equator, causing the current to swirl in a clockwise motion from pole the coastlines. Said current was rather languid due to the minimum of temperature difference.

Because of this, the tidal waves weren't hugely strong, making it easier for the beasts to swim around in the water. The seasons on the mainland were close to the range of normal, but down in Antropolis the climate was more temperate and prone to being sunny all year round.

GM NPC POD CONTROL CIVILLIAN

"Permission granted." The cooridinates of the entrance to the underground appeared on Markus' screen, with instructions to land next to the entrance and put the pod under cloak. Whether he actually choose to follow those directions was another matter entirely.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

Traferous took off, blasting the dropship out of the planet's atmosphere as fast as he reasonably dared. He knew that he was not impressing Crowley with his gentle piloting skills, but in his opinion, life was short, and the longer you had to wait to get somewhere, it was a waste of time.

GM IC FRAVI

"That's odd." Fravi said. "There's an asteroid incoming, not on a collision course. It's still a ways off, but I don't like the looks of it."

GM IC TRAFEROUS

"I'm three minutes out!" Traferous said back to Fravi. "You'll just have to hold off the cloak until then, and if it gets too close, shoot it down."

Worse, Traferous noted that he anti-collision systems were disabled on one side of the ship in order for him to get into the hangar bay. He knew that there were no asteroids in this sector. If it wasn't an asteroid, the ship could be boarded.

And, Traferous noted, having an entire fake fleet of dropships had one drawback: a real one could easily hide among them. "Get me an emergency landing net and a tractor beam! I'm coming in hot!"

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

"Odd." He frowned. "There's not much tidal activity, meaning there's little in the way of an ocean cycle and in nutrient cycling... Very odd. Still, I should be able to track down some ideal places."

Since the ocean was where Flood was made to be, and aquatic missions were few and far between, Flood studied his specificity often. The things he learned did come in handy occasionally. He marked a few select spots. "These would be good places to start. The marine animals don't seem to be attacking en masse, instead in small groups. Either the brains are only catching them in small groups or they are only sending out a few at a time. I suspect, if they are simply hanging back, they could be found around these areas."

IC: Markus Vex - Hero Pod.

Markus might've been a lot of things, many of them starting with S, but he wasn't stupid. He knew the stakes here, and set a course for the coordinates indicated.

GM NPC CRYSTAL BEASTS (4 - NEAR FERRO/SQUIDULUS)

The create slammed into the Crystal Beast that had its jaws around Ferro, cracking the armor around the posterior area and sliding it off of Jason's head.

Ghid's strike successfully connected with the brain, causing the beast to howl in agony. Meanwhile, another beast broke off the ship's flagpole and swung it in a vicious swing.

OOC: Zippy, I'm really getting out-smarted on the oceanography. What are you thinking of here, because at the moment it's kinda flying over my head.
