IC: ??? - Tunnels

"Very well, then. I would feel much better accompanied by two Heroes, rather than just one," he said in a slightly joking tone.

~

IC: Eloise Thumper - Ship

"Uh," she said, trying to recall. "Uh... the market square? I think? Do you know where that is?"

OOC: If there are already brained beasts there, that is absolutely fine.

IC Jade Riley:

Jade checked the coordinates......straight down.

"Well, this'll be a story to tell later...." She muttered, just loud enough for Thumper to hear.

GM NPC ZIB

"He's not real, Striker. I don't know who he is, probably some villain. The real Makuro is elsewhere."

"And Marcus, behave yourself, or I'll write a complaint on your file and send you to guard a prison planetoid for a month."

IC John Striker:

...."Fantastic. On my way."

It was a short ten minutes before Striker reached the group. The fake Makuro was surprisingly convincing, and Striker greeted him with a nod. "Mr. Makuro."

IC: Eloise Thumper - Ship

Thumper was starting to realise why this pilot was available when she found her in the dropship bay. Her fingers bent dents into the metal in preparation. For what, she had no idea, but the pilot was worrying her.

"Hello," he said, as kindly as he could muster. "You must be joining us, hm? That is awfully good to hear. Why, when this whole mess started to unravel, I would never have expected such good luck as to run into Heroes out here!"

GM NPC FURNO

"You'll be okay," Furno said, trying to pull himself up into the ship with one arm.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

"You may not have charm, but you certainly are affable," Traferous said. "What's with all the brains?" He picked a few off a chair as he sat down. Apparently Mr. Makuro is going to Antropolis for a business conference, to propose a new invention to stop the brains, and the brains are trying to stop it. And obviously the conspiracy wants the weapon.

He had just descended into a firestorm. Traferous really did not need the weapon - he had plenty of defenses against the brains that he was rolling out to all ships of the Federation as they sat there. But there was a chance, a very slim chance, that Mr. Makuro's weapon was more effective than his own countermeasures.

More interestingly, this situation suggested that either Mr. Makuro or the brains could be removed from the equation. Or both...the latter possibility didn't sit well with Traferous. The conspiracy was focused on those enemies now, but if they were removed, Traferous would be fighting a one man war against the conspiracy. That was not acceptable.

GM IC DR. LIE

"That's the engine room on your left, and this is my office," Dr. Lie finished lamely. "Can I get you something to eat?"

IC: ??? - Tunnels

"I believe the escort was meant to join me after I made it to the Hero Factory," he replied smoothly. "I didn't make it that far, I'm afraid."

Internally, he was a little concerned. This wasn't how this was meant to go at all. He was meant to arrive at the city and do what he did best, avoiding the spotlight otherwise. He didn't want to get caught up in the real Makuro's meetings and affairs on the planet at all, that was too risky. If these Heroes knew where the real Makuro was meant to be, then he was in trouble. He figured it best to spin it like the real Makuro could be fake, so they didn't try to arrest him immediately. Then, he could slip away before the Heroes got it all squared out.

~

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

"Just gotta be more careful next time, I guess," Flood shrugged. He pulled Furno on board with a grunt, and immediately let go as soon as he was on board. "Uh, sorry about the... it doesn't wash off easily with just plain water, but you should be able to just wipe it off. Ethanol does the trick for if some of it gets dried on."

He perked up. "But, on the bright side, if anyone shoots a laser at you in the next hour or so and it hits you in the slime, it won't hurt you."

OOC: I thought Furno was already on the ship. Oops. Also, I imagine giving an aquatic Hero slime that washes off easily in water is probably a bad idea. And I assume the slime loses effectiveness after an hour or two, if it's not on Flood. Otherwise he could just hand out slimy hugs to every other Hero character before the mission starts and everyone would be immune.

As his Pod approached the city, Simon could make out a few obvious trouble spots. The fracas at the docks stuck out, but there also seemed to be a freaking dinosaur stomping around a mile or so further in. Weird.

OOC: Another profile for the collection...

Name: Epix

Character Type: Hero

Powers and Abilities: An Anti-Gravity Pack, which is usually always on at some level or another due to his enhanced weight issues (see below); Predictive Trajectory Awareness that allows him to anticipate the initial target areas of most projectile or laser-based weaponry (this does not grant him the reflexes to deflect everything that comes his way, however; if his attention becomes divided between two distinct general areas (such as the upper/lower body or himself and another object/person), he's likely to get hit either way somewhere).

Weapons: Scout Drones - Epix carries six drones, similar to the ones previously used by Stormer in his XL form, that dock onto his arms and provide him with additional armor plating while not in flight. Each has a built-in camera and a low-powered Stun Blaster for targeting purposes, the latter still being accessible to the two directly attached to his wrists while docked. The receivers for the drones are directly wired into his brain, giving him manual control over each and every one of them as if they were parts of his own body at the expense of eating up large amounts of concentration (controlling more than two at a time will force him to enter a quasi-meditative state, in order to prevent a neurological overload due to the vast amounts of stimuli he would be subconsciously attempting to process). The drones themselves also manually recharge themselves using his Hero Core as a battery, meaning that their usage can take quite the toll on his energy reserves if not properly kept in check.

He also wields a large Scythe, coated in a highly-deflective material.

Appearance: Epix is mostly clad in silver, with some black and lime green mixed in as well. His arms are fairly basic when his drones aren't attached, but his legs are covered in small, silver spikes that are mostly just decorative. Following the release of the ZX-79 Upgrade during the Brain Attack on Makuhero City, his helmet was fitted with a new Combat Visor, and his chest armor now sports Core Protectors.

Bio: Epix spearheads the SIA (Security and Internal Affairs) Division of Hero Factory, created by Mr. Makuro himself in an attempt to detain Heroes who will likely go rogue before they can go out and cause too much damage. Because of this, other Heroes sometimes refer to him as "The Recall," since his primary purpose is to monitor his comrades and either capture or terminate them if they begin to display signs of desertion, and he is generally both feared and despised amongst the ranks, as he is a constant reminder of what will happen to them should they start straying from their primary programming.

When not going after former agents of Hero Factory, he generally oversees security at the company's many facilities, and he has absolutely no love for reporters of any kind.

IC(e): Cobra Shard - FROZEN IN FLOATING ICE CUBE

Shard slowly floated to the surface. It took a while since he had gone pretty deep, but he finally reached the top and was greeted by the sunlight (although it was a little hard to see through the ice). His comms were fried from the water and the ice prevented him from moving. His only hope was either the Hero pod he could hear descending above or the Heroes at the docks...

This was very bad.

Approved.

IC: Captor

Location: Hangar Bay

Captor had stealthily followed Traferous out of the hangar bay, but had then veered off into one of the maintenance shafts, making his way to one of the consoles hidden there within.

IC: Nimiusl Ardor

Location: Camouflaged dropship

Nimius cursed under his breath as he quickly looked at the readings from the scan of the ship he'd finished earlier.

OOC: Gonna need something here. C'mon, throw me a bone.

OOC: There isn't a maintenance shaft directly accessible from that hallway. That character is in the center of the ship. The ship's engines are  behind the waterfall in the secret passage, and the shafts to repair the craft's weapons would be near the outside of the structure. However:

GM IC NIMIUS

Nimus would find that his attempt to anchor himself to the bottom of the ship would fail due to the forcefield around the ship pushing him away. Worse, the ship above him...vanished.

GM IC FRAVI

An computer blipped. "Mechna's lordly mother!" Fravi exclaimed, as an anti-collision system warning flashed and a trajectory of the "asteroid" appeared on the screen. "That's no asteroid. Bloody Jimmie Hendrix!" She hit the cloaking system button hard, and grabbed the weapons controls.

By the nature of Traferous' craft, there wasn't quite so many weapons on the bottom of the ship. However, Traferous had thought to install a swivel cannon or five. Fravi spun the dial, aiming and firing photon laser beam at the asteroid. If it really was a space rock, the blast would be enough to crack it in half. If it was a ship, it would likely bounce off the ship's shields. Either way, they would know what was going on.

Hopefully.

OOC: Fravi's cloak will withdraw a little for the weapon to fire, due to the laws of physics regarding light. So Nimus will be able to see the cannon coming toward him before it fires.

OOC: I'll go with it. :)

GM NPC FURNO

"Does it immunitize me from blood, too?" Furno said, dragging out the triage kit and opening it up.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

So they were allies of convenience. Traferous thought on it - they weren't fully allies yet.

Traferous, if he could have it, wanted a different sort of alliance, if it was even possible. He would like to ally with the brains and Hero Factory, and then use them to take out the conspiracy. But the reaction of the Heroes to his charming self on Tranquis VII further cemented what he had already suspected - the Heroes weren't going to work with him. And they never would work with the brains.

The pieces began to fall together in his mind. This person needed to go to Streptos. If anything else, his presence would reinforce the brain's forces there. And the brains...that was one force Traferous was confident he could beat himself. Especially if the conspiracy or Hero Factory helped. But with all the attention on Streptos, it was indeed time to have some...fun.

"Fravi, when you're done dealing with that little ship, mark us a course for the Streptos system. We'll be doing some high speed driving."

He then turned to Mr. Vyle. "Before you get too excited, I have decided that the best course is for you to be going to Streptos with the brains. From the current state of affairs, they are badly in need of reinforcements, and will likely accept our alliance request with open arms. You, as of right now, have my permission to extend an alliance request to the brains on behalf of the Transportation Federation, on the authority of Traferous Diafanous himself."

"However, I will not be going to Streptos myself. I believe that this situation allows me other opportunities that I wish to avail myself of. As for the others on this ship, you may choose to take anyone who will go willingly."

GM IC DR. LIE

"Absolutely," Dr. Lie said, walking past his desk and the pictures of the rogue Heroes and into a medium size kitchen. He grabbed a slab of steak out of the refrigerator. "Cooked or raw?"

"Ah, a little bit more and a little bit less than that," Traferous said. "I'm sure you will do other things on Streptos than just extend an alliance from me to the brains, but that's not exactly my concern, nor will you likely obtain much injury on our behalf if you do them. I'm giving you permission to do something, not binding you to a job. Those are so limiting and...annoying."

GM IC DR. LIE

Dr. Lie nodded and pulled a large frying pan off the hook and setting it on the stove. He found some olive oil and drizzled it in, and flicked the burner on a higher setting. He reached for some of the seasonings - onion salt, salt, and pepper - and then paused, looking back at Crowley.

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

"That's not exactly how it works," Flood said hesitantly. "You see, getting attacked while near blood- or other similar substances, some planets with mechanical sea life sense oil instead of blood, for example- isn't due to anything you're doing. The predator sees blood, which is an indicator of a wounded and thus easier to catch meal. Then they see you in the general area, and, well, put two and two together. It doesn't matter if you're covered in slime, or if you're looking formidable. What matters is you're injured, or they think you're injured."

Flood was glad his metal plating hadn't been punctured. Self-repair was harder when he had to try and get slime out of his parts at the same time. "On this planet, the Beasts have blood, and avoid hanging around it when it is spilled in the water. This tells me that something around here preys on Jaw Beasts. They may not have much of a taste for metal, but chances are whatever it is will get one or two bites in before realising its error."

OOC: I'm not sure what is inside a triage kit, so just assume he's waiting for Furno to get whatever he needs first while I wait for some kind of hint from what Furno pulls out of there. Also, thank you one and all for joining me in what is rapidly becoming the Ocean Nerd Facts RPG segment of this mission.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

Traferous chuckled. "Consider it a test of what little loyalty you have left in your duplicitous bones. If you proceed to act foolishly, don't come back to us looking for a ride. We'll be more than happy to blow you out of the sky, and claim that you were acting entirely on your own without my authorization." He grinned deviously.

GM IC DR. LIE

Dr. Lie sprinkled the seasonings one side of the meat. By then, the pan began to sizzle, and he put the meat in seasoning side down and properly sprinkled the other side. He then set a two-pronged meat fork near the pan where it could be found easily.

GM NPC FURNO

Furno nodded along to Wilbur's rambling, selecting some of the metal patches and a healing nanite injector. A few minutes later, they began fixing his internal components and fusing the patches on. He passed another one to Wilbur. "That should work."

OOC: If they can put that in a Hero and a Tranquis hospital, they most certainly can put it in a first-aid kit.

OOC: Where in Antropolis City is Mr. Makuro currently heading?

2. Tait's hotel: This area is where the conference attendees will be staying. Unlike the relaxed, sprawling, and comfortable nature of the Grand Tranq, this is a sleek modern high-rise with 7 floors. However, the walls are made more of metal than windows, and the inside is painted drywall, giving the beings inside a reasonable expectation of privacy. The management are more than happy to look the other way if something doesn't quite add up - after all, they aren't going to be blamed for what happens in their basement. They have lawyers and aren't afraid to use them.

IC Jade Riley:

It was a good thing Jade had been hand constructed to be the best Pilot, otherwise, the ship might have ended up a charred wreck splattered across the ground.

Since she was, however, she knew exactly when to fire the engines on full to keep them from crashing and burning. Or....she thought she did. In pushing the engines so hard, she ended up blowing both of them, only managing to use the retro thrusters to slow their descent just enough to make a halfway decent crash landing.

See, this is why I keep telling them to upgrade the engine output.

Coughing and waving away dust, Jade unhitched herself, and peered into the bay.

"You okay back there?"

~

IC: Eloise Thumper - Ship

Thumper unclicked the seatbelt, brushing herself off. Nothing was sparking or dented, so this was a much better crash landing than what she was used to. "I'm fine, I think. Thank you for asking."

She glanced outside, a little concerned. She was sure the pilot knew what she was doing, but... "Uh... did we crash into the city?"

Ugh.... "Something like that. Engines gave out during the descent. Had to improvise."

She stepped into the bay, and smacked the door release. Nothing.

"Blast it, must have damaged the systems. Hang on."

She went to a small panel inset on the wall, and turned a dial. The Bay door blasted off of it's hinges with shaped charges. And hit a car.

The voice booms from the opposite side of the square. From behind a building, T. Pecs strides out, advancing across the square towards Thumper, mic in hand, persona in full throttle.

"You're in the location of your one-way ticket to the Pain Train, en route to Agonyville!"

The ground quakes beneath his pounding footsteps, his voice like thunder across the square. His eyes gleam with determination as he stops, planting his feet in a wide stance and pointing straight at Thumper.

"LA PUNO DE HIERRO, ARE YOU REEEEEEEEADY FOR YOUR REMATCH AGAINST THE ONE, THE ONLY, THE INDOMITABLE--"

His finger thrusts skywards.

"TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECS!"

IC: Eloise Thumper - Ready to Rumble

At first, Thumper was confused and sufficiently startled to hang up the call. She saw... he looked familiar, very familiar. Those feathers, she knew them from somewhere. The booming voice also rang a bell, and she hit upon it. Tyrannosaurus Pecs? It could be, it could be.

And then he said it.

Now, Thumper was part of a team, or 'family' of masked wrestlers. They had their own traditions, their own laws, and other wrestlers played by them or else risked the fury of an angry, unrestrained fighter. They were reasonable rules. The most prominent ones tended to focus around the treasured mask each fighter wore. That mask was a persona, a character, a second spirit for the fighter to bear in the ring.

For Thumper, that spirit was La Puno de Hierro, the Iron Fist of Hero Factory. It wasn't a secret she and the masked fighter were the same person- she sometimes got so excited that she would forget to remove the mask after matches, and as plenty of Heroes saw last mission, she was prone to shouting her persona's name in victory. That was fine. A wrestler should be proud of their title, and she definitely was. And, as she was the owner of the persona, it was her right to let others know, whether intentionally or not.

But there was a rule, a code. Other wrestlers did not address them by their persona when they were unmasked. It was tradition, and to break that tradition was to disrespect her, her mask, and her alter ego. The only worse offence was to unmask an opponent in the ring. Thumper was not an angry person by nature- quite the opposite, really- but La Puno de Hierro? She seethed under Thumper's plating, she boiled and bubbled and roared in her fuel lines, demanding a restoration to her insulted honour.

Her fists shook, held tightly by her sides, as she struggled to keep down this alien anger. She had been insulted, beyond simply insulted, by an old opponent who was outright challenging her. But this was not a wrestling match, and she was not La Puno de Hierro now. She was Eloise Thumper, a Hero, and especially a Hero who would keep her cool and keep to her mission. Perhaps she could call Zib again, see if this was the secret mission he wanted her to take care of.

She raised her arm jerkily, meaning to activate her comm., still stiff from pent up rage.

~

Down the street, a civilian was carrying what appeared to be a large, metal wok. He looked up, saw the T. rex roaring across the way, and dropped his wok, screaming.

~

The sound of the wok hitting the cement reached Thumper's audio receptors. Like a bell.

A bell.

The bell.

The raised hand snapped into a very threatening point, and her eyes blazed as she bellowed, "I HOPE YOU'VE GOT SOME NEXT OF KIN, REPTILE, ELSE YOU'RE GONNA BE EXTINCT WHEN I'M DONE WITH YOU!"

IC: Eloise Thumper - Ready to Rock the House

"Get your toy outta here," Thumper snarled at the pilot, advancing towards the dinosaur while cracking her knuckles. "He has insulted my honour. I will insult his good health by breaking him apart."

At him, she growled, "My Iron Fist will be the last thing you kiss, amigo! They're gonna have to scrape your ugly face off the street!"

IC: Eloise Thumper - They Should Have Sold Tickets For This

"Good thing I got two of 'em! And one's bigger and better than both your pathetic limbs-" Here, she pointed to his smaller arms- "combined!"

IC: Eloise Thumper - Prepping the Barbeque for Dino Steaks

"Pretty used to dry and tasteless words after listening to you blab on for the last five minutes, hombre!" She grinned madly. "Wish I had brought some salt for your wounds, though. Give you some flavour for when you're licking them after I pound you into the floor."

IC: Eloise Thumper - Here To Kick Butt And Chew Gum... But She's All Outta Gum

"You're only going to taste victory if you try to knock some kid over on the long, losing way home. Even then, you're gonna have to pay them."

They were ever so slightly circling each other now, she noted. Waiting for an opening. She noted previous wounds, the pattern of his enormous footfalls. She would be ready.

"La Puno de Hierro does not lose to evildoers!" She swept her arm out in dismissal, her burning gaze still centred on him. "The Iron Fist is not deterred by villainy. She strikes true, and righteous, and horribly painful to the forces of darkness!"

IC--Simon Trigger--Sky/Ocean

As Simon descended further, he saw something that helped him decide just where to land: a Hero, floating near the dock, suspended in ice.

Switching the pod into auto-pilot and ditching it, he zipped down to the water's surface and began pushing the tiny iceberg, with Cobra Shard still trapped inside, toward the shore. The guy probably wouldn't be in the best shape for a few minutes after being broken out, so Simon wanted to free him on dry land, if possible.

IC: T. Pecs - Jurassic Snark

"Those're some pretty words," T. Pecs growls as he looks the Hero over for weaknesses. His acute eyes catch the newness of one shoulder; she'd been repaired recently. "Shame the world don't run on pretty words. Out here, it's survival of the fittest. And I'm most fit to tear that fancy mask-- er. I'm most fit to beat the wiring out of you."

IC: Eloise Thumper - Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot

Her eyes narrowed. "It's gonna be hard to beat the wiring outta me when you're slammed until you're pressed into sheet metal. An old tinker toy like you should know: you don't insult the Lucha Libre Family. At least, you don't do it and come out of it in one piece. Hope you kept your assembly instructions, lagartija. You're gonna need em."
