IC: Anamnesis - Hero Factory.

The failsafe shield had gone up, it seemed the corpse had been found already. In hindsight, he regretted the way he'd killed Vale. He should've been more subtle, made it look like an accident. But it was too late to change the past...

Turning away from the window, he continued walking.

IC: ??? - With Vex and Striker

He clambered out of the water, incredibly annoyed behind the masterful expression of cheeriness he wore. He was pretty sure the Heroes were just messing with him now. But what was the point? Weren't these guys meant to be professionals? He wiped his face, shook the water from his arms and said, in a voice that kept bright through rigorous training, "Well, that was a nice swim. Why are we leaving the water?"

~

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

Flood aided in removing the rocks, still bothered and confused. "Maybe they were underground? But, again, why?"

He shook his head. "Maybe we should investigate the wreck. It would give our new companion time to catch up with us, in any case."

If it was a power source for the city, somehow, he was pretty sure Quark was going to remove his television access for a month, at the least. There was a documentary on deep-sea crustaceans he wanted to catch next week, too. He really, really hoped it was all one big coincidence.

IC: Dorothy Quark and Eloise Thumper - Ship

Thumper saw the iconic Assembly Tower through the window and couldn't help but smile. She turned to look at Quark, who had not said a word since they departed and was now flicking switches in a very abrupt manner. Then, she paused. Thumper asked uncertainly, "Is everything all right?"

Quark took a very, very deep cycle of air. She then, with unnecessary force, turned a dial and fiddled with the components until they made a gentle landing in a nearby park. She sat, unmoving. Thumper hesitantly climbed out of her seat. "Quark?"

"They've raised the shield," Quark said dully. Then, all at once, her expression exploded into the deepest, most intense rage Thumper had ever seen on anything. "Well isn't that just PERFECT! Just what this day needed, really! EXCELLENT!"

She started shouting a string of curses, and Thumper learned about three new ones before Quark snapped her helmet into place, muffling the noise. Thumper decided that her team leader needed a moment and went back to Jade.

"Uh, was the shield up when we left?" Thumper asked. "I don't remember it going up behind us."

IC: Alex Drift - Antropolis Hospital entrance

Drift entered the hospital lobby and looked around. Nothing suspicious here. He walked up to the reception counter and asked for the room number of the sniper victim from earlier. "I was at the scene," he explained. "Just want to check on the poor guy."

GM NPC RECEPTION CIVILIAN

"He's in room 7A, right at the end of that hall."

GM NPC ANTROPOLIS POLICE (SPEAKING W/ MR. VYLE)

"There are two Heroes arriving at your location now. They should be able to help you."

GM NPC NEX

Nex immediately set off in that direction, only to see a strange businessman wearing a concealing visor standing at the end of the hall. "State your business," he said, entirely intending that particular bad pun.

----------------------------------

GM NPC FLYER BEASTS (20 - NEAR FERRO)

The flyer beasts took to the air as the crate approached. Still, one got hit by the crate and lay on the ship's deck, stunned.

Meanwhile, the boat pulled slowly away from the docks. The four beasts who had evaded the attack tried to land behind Ferro, intending to drive him further into the boat.

IC Jade:

She shook her head, "No, it was down. I'll see if I can get through on Comm."

She un strapped and moved to the front, slipping into the copilot's seat. (The CO pilot's seat! The seat she'd worked so hard to get out of!) Jade powered up the comm array, pointedly looking away from the muffled Quark and also looking very professional.

"This is Dropship two-seven-niner, clearance code alpha-delta two six eight three one, requesting opening of the shield over hanger bay 3, over."

She waited for a response.

"Leaving," he said adamantly, switching back to a more regular tone, "There's a bunch of those brain critters running around back there." He jabbed a thumb in the direction he'd just come from.

IC: Alex Drift - Antropolis hospital

Brain critters? Had his hunch paid off after all? Drift cautiously cracked open the door to room 7A...

IC: Evil Cobra Shard - Antropolis Hospital

Evil Shard let the door open just enough to see that it was a Hero and then blasted coolant full-force directly into its face. The pilot thudded to the ground, frozen solid.

IC: Dorothy Quark - Not Having A Great Day

Quark's helmet flipped open, and though she still looked like she was about ready to rip someone's head off, she was at least not shouting. She glanced at Jade, but didn't shoo her away. She seemed more interested in what Zib had said.

As she moved the ship, she said to Thumper, "You're not leaving my side once we're in there. Understood?"

"Yes, Quark," she nodded, looking troubled. "A murderer... That's so terrible!"

Quark brought the ship down in the hangar and climbed out. She turned to Jade, her gaze cold. Then, finally, she said, "I will not be having you written up... this time."

IC Shade - Makuro's Room:

Fully charged, Shade entered the room only to find Drift and Nex leaving. "What're they up to?" Shade asked Epix in an attempt to learn why Mr. Makuro's guard had been cut in half for the time being.

IC: Epix - Tait's Hotel (Mr. Makuro's Room)

"No idea," he said, putting his scythe away. "But I don't like it."

OOC: Did a search for their posts to confirm, and it appears that none of their conversation about the potential Brain Master sighting happened around Epix, so the likelihood of him knowing anything is practically nonexistent.

IC: ??? - With Striker and Vex

The explosion made him give a startled yell, toppling backwards but catching himself before he could fall. It was taking every ounce of his concentration to stay in character. He turned to the Hero, biting back quite a few insults, and gave a chuckle. "Goodness, that was quite a scare!"

IC: Jason Ferro- Other cargo ship

Jason fired a few rounds at the brain of the beast who had fell. These were definitely tougher than the crystal beasts, and their ability to fly didn't help matters. What was with this ship, anyway? Whoever had secured it the docks had obviously done a poor job, because it seemed like it moving awa... Wait a minute! Ferro finally noticed that the ship had been drifting away from the docks the entire time he was fighting. But what would the beasts want with an entire ship? Jason's thought was brought to a halt by the sound of several beasts landing behind him. The creatures began advancing towards the hero, as if they were trying to drive him further into the ship. Thinking that the crate trick was unlikely to work again, Ferro decided to wait for one of the creatures to leave an opening for him to attack.

OOC: Okay I have another member of Quark's Hero Team. I was gonna introduce her next mission, but with a murderer prowling around it'd be out of character for Quark not to check in on her. She's the one who used to be named 'Trigger', as a matter of fact.

Hero Profile:
Name: Mara Quiver

Powers
and Abilities: Quiver is specialised as a sharpshooter, with all the highly sensitive sensors and pinpoint accuracy it entails. When everything is quiet and still, she is incredible with long-distance weaponry.

She's quite quick and nimble, being very good at dodging enemy fire while scrambling to a safe spot to shoot from. She's also decent at hiding.

She is learning some code and basic computer knowledge from another member of the team, but she's not very good at it yet.

Weapon(s):
Quiver carries a long-distance laser rifle with her name carved into the butt of it. She has a smaller blaster for more close-range combat.

Appearance:
Quiver is small and often stands in a slouch, drawn into herself. Her colours are dull greys and greens, which she is fond of, but her Hero Core and eyes are a very vivid, eye-catching red, much to her disappointment. She is very lean, made for long-distance striking more than up-close confrontations. Here's a mouse-drawn MSPaint picture of her, as per the tradition, wearing an expression I like to call "It's Photo Day And I Couldn't Stop Worrying About How It Would Look Even As They Took It".

Bio: Quiver, the rookie of the bunch, joined the team relatively recently, after some time of no team wanting to take her in. Thumper and Flood befriended her and convinced Quark to allow her to join the team. She's very grateful to her team and her friends for taking her in.

Quiver is very shy and jumpy. Her ultra-tuned sensors work against her in that way; while she can feel the breeze shift ever so slightly and plan her shot accordingly, she will also be startled by loud noises in her vicinity and sometimes even by the sound of her own gun. She is constantly anxious that she will be kicked out of Hero Factory for her self-perceived cowardice, though she genuinely loves helping people and being a Hero. She seeks to improve herself any way she can, and looks up to her teammates- they are some of the few people she feels comfortable around.

She is trained for non-lethal shots, and greatly prefers them over the alternative. Outside of Hero business, she takes great delight in painting miniature figures- since she has very steady hands and there is no one shooting at her, she's quite good at it.

Night Stalker would find the door opening, and Fravi speaking: "Welcome to the Transportation Federation. My boss wants to see you on the first floor - take the hallway to the right, and you should get to him soon enough."

Night Stalker nods and walks down the hallway.  He was feeling good about being called inside, as it meant he was most likely not going to get killed.  Why let a potentially dangerous robot into your ship when you could undoubtedly obliterate him with the press of a button?  Yes, so far things were going splendidly.

"Perfect." Now that everything had calmed down and information regarding the two heroes' sudden interest in leaving wasn't forthcoming, Shade was able focus on other things than just Mr. Makuro's safety. For instance, how much damage had been done to the hall outside? He walked just out of the door to get a good look at the destruction caused by the weirdo and his flying rocks.

IC: Jason Ferro- other cargo ship

Jason had been expecting one of the beasts to swipe or lunge at him, but what he got was far more... Humiliating. Ferro was pushed forward as a result of the kick, but he managed to keep his footing. Narrowing his eyes, he made a mental note to remember that these creatures were intelligent, perhaps more so than he, in some instances. Then, without warning, he repelled himself from the deck, flipping backwards several meters into the air, and over the beast's heads. As he fell back down again, he began spraying bullets in the direction of the beasts's brains.

IC: Wilbur Flood - With Furno

Flood nodded. "While machine-made wrecks can be a haven for many marine creatures- some sunken ships can become the base of a new coral reef in the right conditions, for example- I wouldn't put it past this thing to leak oil and whatever else was crammed into it everywhere. Besides, it's large enough to possibly be a hindrance to creatures trying to get upstream."

Once they were done with the rocks, Flood climbed back on the ship, ready to go. As with most places he frequented for an extended amount of time, slime was beginning to form small puddles here. He tried not to feel embarrassed; it wasn't like he could control it.

Hero Profile:
Name: Lilith Specter - "The Wraith"

Powers and Abilities:

Primary:

Phasing: Lilith can phase through matter, and is able to fly while in this state unhindered by gravity or friction, and can get up to an acceleration of 20m/s2 with enough effort.

Invisibility: Lilith can become completely invisible, owing to a similar function as the one that gives her the ability to phase, except this one making her entirely phase through light, meaning it cannot reflect off of her. This function is separate from her matter phasing, although she can use both simultaneously.

Secondary:

Silent: Her body is built to be as silent as possible, which means that it has little in the way of noisy machinery or servos, and her armour is noise absorbent, meaning it tends not to make much noise when it makes contact with something.

Nimble: Lilith is quick and agile, which helps with her preferred style of close combat.

Weapon(s):

Stun batons: Lilith's close combat weapon of choice are two stun batons she is extremely efficient at using. These batons can knock out most opponents in only a few hits. They are connected to her powers, and phase through matter or light when she does.

Stun rifle: Lilith's long range projectile weapon of choice is a sniper rifle that fires powerful stun bolts. The rifle has several settings that allow her to adjust the intensity of the stun. The rifle is connected to her powers, and phases through matter or light when she does.

Silenced stun pistol: Lilith's short range projectile weapon of choice is a silenced pistol that fires powerful stun bolts. The pistol has several settings that allow her to adjust the intensity of the stun. The gun is connected to her powers, and phases through matter or light when she does.

Appearance:
Lilith has dark grey and gunmetal armour with white light lines that form geometric patterns. She can turn these light lines off for stealth purposes. She is average in height, and quite slim. Her hero core and eyes glow in lilac.

Bio:

Lilith was built as a well-rounded stealth hero, although she decided to do regular hero duties instead, thinking of herself as a support hero to those heroes that have a more direct approach. She is amiable, and not very confrontational, although enraging her (as difficult as that can be) can lead to horrible consequences. She despises those heroes that do not hesitate to kill others, viewing killing as revolting and abhorrent.

First things first: she would do what she could to assist in the capture of the villain who seemed to be loose in Hero Factory. The fail-safe shield was already in place, so all that was left to do was to alert the rest of HF and let the Heroes do their job. "Attention, all personnel," she calmly announced over the comms throughout the building, "The Assembly Tower is currently on lockdown. Heroes are investigating evidence of foul play in the lower levels. Please remain where you are and report anything suspicious."

Now to tackle something that had piqued her interest: the power outage in Antropolis that just so happened to coincide with the destruction of a lone turbine. She hailed Flood and Furno. "Oh boyyyys..." her voice drifted over their comm channel like ice water, "Mind telling me why 34% of Antropolis just went dark?"

IC: Markus Vex - Underground Lake.

"We should be able to swim through now," he surfaced, calling out to the other two, "Just be careful."

Reaching the ship, he opened the hatch and stepped inside. It was time to get off this planet...

IC: Dorothy Quark and Eloise Thumper - Hero Factory

Quark snorted at Helen's announcement. "Well, we are certainly not staying here."

"But Quark, they said-"

Quark gestured to the dent in Thumper's midsection. "First of all, you look like you have just tried to block some rammers with your own body. Second, I am not leaving Quiver alone with a murderer on the loose."

Thumper's eyes widened. "Mara! She must be scared stiff! But... they did ask us to stay put... Maybe we can find Mara, and then stay put in the repair ward?"

"Good thinking, Thumper," Quark said with as much sincerity as she could muster in her current mood. Thumper grinned with pride. Quark turned back to the pilot. "... Thank you. For not crashing too badly in Antropolis. Please find somewhere safe, with other people, preferably. The Heroes investigating will have this under control."

Thumper nodded in agreement. "Thank you for flying me there, again! It was super nice of you."

OOC: Rammers are a training tool mentioned in the books and are used to train in dodging. They're described as rocket-powered hunks of steel and not desireable to be hit by, for obvious reasons.

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

Flood noticed Furno's slightly bored, fed up attitude and sunk in his chair a little. Most non-aquatic Heroes didn't really enjoy being on missions with him, whether it be the inevitable slime everywhere or his obsession with the ocean. He was the one who wanted to smash the turbine, after all, and look where that landed them.

He was struggling to think of how to apologise for the very dull mission when the call came through from Helen, causing him to sit bolt upright. After a moment, he replied hesitantly, "We... are at least twenty percent sure that was not our doing."

He sent Furno a worried, slightly panicked look.

IC: ??? - On Shore of Water

He smiled, and said, "Well, we may as well get this over with, hm? Ha ha."

He walked in again and this time was ready for the drop. He waited for the Heroes to take the lead.

IC: Jason Ferro- going on an involuntary cruise

As two more beasts fell, Jason saw that the ship had picked up speed, and that the docks were now nothing but a speck in the distance. He would probably be able to move the ship back into place with some configuration of magnetic fields, but that would require concentration, and he didn't see that happening any time soon. Pointing his pistols at the three remaining beasts, Jason braced himself for another attack.

IC Shade - Makuro's Suite:

"Well at least there's another escape route," Shade thought as he walked back into the room where Epix and Mr. Makuro were. Shade then positioned himself at the door with his cloak on and stood there. It looked like it was time to find out just how boring guard duty could be...

GM NPC NEX

Nex turned his face away from the icicle barrage, but it still stuck to his chestplate, stinging and making him a little bit sluggish. He pulled out his laser cutter and aimed it the tube connecting the coolant tank to the blaster.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

The evil brains eyed Alex Drift's prone from with interest, but held back. They did not want to be frozen.

GM IC ??? (BRAIN MASTER)

The beast carried his master into an organics reconstution chamber. Here, a bunch of microorganisms began repairs to the brain master's body.

Perhaps that particular legion were best kept where they were for now.

GM IC ??? (PILOT & "DR. VENTURO" - TECH MARKET SQUARE)

She got on, grateful for the ride.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

"You flatter me," Traferous said. "But I suppose we can inspire fear in someone's name. Follow me, and I will show you both the plan."
