IC: Splint

His initial shock and confusion had faded quickly, thanks to years of emergency response training. Immediately, he'd formed a plan - find Georje, find out whether or not his ship was intact, and then try to rescue as many survivors as he could.

Finding Georje in the group of medbots was easy enough. It took a while longer before they came across the Lifeline half-buried in rubble. Once it had been cleared off, inspection showed that the dented craft was still spaceworthy, if not "fly into active combat zone and leave alive" worthy.

The rest of the preflight checks were just about done when Splint heard Buckley's call for help, followed by Zib's attempt at hailing him. "I'm here, boss," he replied. "What do you need?"

OOC: Probably gonna take a break from using Vyle for a mission or so. With Hero Factory destroyed, I'm going to need to come up with a new angle for him, and I've got a few other minor changes I want to implement while I'm at it.

OOC: If Traferous ever gets off of Makuhero city, he is going to try to hunt that character down and kill him. From his perspective it looks like Vyle lured Night Stalker into a fight/trap, in addition to causing a bunch of damage to his ship...even though the latter was part his own fault. Obviously that is going to be a subsidiary point - he's not so single-minded as to be consumed by a revenge quest - but he's not happy with him at all.

This isn't a GM penalty, just how that character is feeling right now.

GM NPC ZIB

"Oh good," Zib said. "Are you in any position to go help Buckley right now, or should I send someone else with a medbot team? I figure that you would probably do the best job here, if you're up to the task." He gave Splint Buckley's cooridinates.

GM IC ???

"Hello?"

IC: The Deconstructor - Mechna Spaceport.

"This is Foreman Decon," it answered, opting for the shortened version of its name, "Is this rogue hero worth keeping tabs on, or do you believe it an issue not worth our time?"

OOC: If Traferous ever gets off of Makuhero city, he is going to try to hunt that character down and kill him.

IC: Marrow - Taking Way Too Long To Respond

Marrow gleefully dropped to all fours and began loping after the dog hero. This one wasn't getting away.

OOC: Just realized Mechna gives me the perfect opportunity to bring in a character I made a while back... I should be able to get a profile up within a day or so.

IC Drone #2 - Makuhero City Outskirts:

Another modified media drone, painted black, hovered tentatively near the Old Timer, studying it. Scans were conducted and filed within its simple mind, until the drone decided it was safe to get a closer look. Doing so brought it to a damaged Hero -- an older model, by the looks of him -- and prompted a series of beeps that sounded like a question.

OOC: Is this Dr. Xaal? If so, it might just pay to just say that's his drone so all of us don't get confused.

OOC: Oops, edited.

IC Wolfe - Tower Ruins, near Quark Qruiser:

"Fine with me," he replied, trying to sound at least somewhat positive. "I'll keep an eye on her."

IC Flint - Tower Ruins, Other Side:

The white-armored Hero frowned, but his helmet concealed it. "There's a lot of chatter on the comms, so that's a good sign," he answered Selphi as they walked, "You're the first civilian I've seen since the blast, though..."

IC Dr. Xaal's Drone #2 - Makuhero City Outskirts, Old Timer:

The little machine beeped and whistled cheerily at Buckley. It searched its databanks and pulled together a patchwork message of dialogue from various recordings it had picked up on its patrols. "Here to help," it told the injured Hero.

IC: Quark Qrew - Separating Once More

Quark nodded to Wolfe. "Thanks, Daren. I'll be back soon."

She entered her ship, where Quiver had settled into a thoughtful, gloomy silence. Thumper still had her arm over Quiver's shoulders, though she was looking a little worried.

"Thumper," said Quark. "You're going with Wolfe while Quiver and I drop off the criminal and any other villains we've caught running around here."

"Okay," Thumper said. "Will you be okay, Mara?"

"Y-Y-Yes," Quiver mumbled.

"See you guys later, then."

Thumper thudded out of the ship, patting Quiver on the shoulder as she went. Quark took her seat in the front, with Quiver sitting silently behind. The doors closed.

"Kuh-Quark?"

Quark turned. "Yes, Quiver?"

"P-People died, d-didn't they?"

"People survived, too." Quark gestured outside. "There is a gigantic ship resting outside, apparently filled with people. We're not homeless, and not all is lost."

Quiver fell into silence. Quark gave her a reassuring nod of the head and hesitantly turned back to the console. She said into the radio, "This is Quark. We have a criminal on board I'm sure we'd rather not have running around. I am preparing for takeoff, are there any other criminals needing transport?"

IC: Eloise Thumper - With Wolfe

Thumper paused mid-step to stare briefly at the wreckage of Hero Factory. The sight of it made her feel strangely empty, but she could mope later. She was sure everyone was all right. She glanced up at the giant ship above her before reaching Wolfe.

"Hello," she said with a smile. She hadn't been feeling up to her usual grin lately. "Quark said I was helping you while she dropped off criminals?"

IC: Mona Selphi - With Flint

Selphi hummed, which was mirrored by the beetle. "Come to think of it, I can't recall the mortician coming in today. I cannot for the life of me remember if there was a reason. Nevertheless, before the place came down, I do remember many people running for the front doors. I don't blame them, really."

IC: Var Vicious
Location: Brawling

Var crumpled a part of he ship's hull with her unarmed hand as she tried to hold on. Her feet were flung up in the air, how ever, but this gave her an opportunity. As the ship spun, she channelled heavy amounts of lightning into it, hoping to fry the pilot alive. With her lightsaber's blade penetrating the hull, it could act as a a conduit for the lightning to bypass any Faraday cage effects the ship might cause.

IC: Andrea Plume

Location: Astral

"Old veterans? I guess a century will do that to a person..." Andrea rubbed the back of her head. "Well, I guess I'll see you kids around then, yeah? I have something in mind that you might like." With that, she walked off, leaving Gyro and Scarlet to their devices.

IC: Uerub Kalslann

Location: Bar fight

Apparently thrown by some other patron, Morphos would find a bar stool hurtling towards him. Meanwhile, Uerub broke a guy's arm, then threw him over the counter and into the bartender's area, before karate-chopping another guy in the neck, and kneeing him in the stomach, and then receiving a punch right in the face from some other guy.

OOC: Okay, so I went to go see Deadpool earlier with my sister and brother-in-law and unexpectedly found it quite therapeutic (I shudder to imagine what that says about my level of sanity in general, but whatever), so I figured revamping one of my previous profiles was worth a shot, even though my expectations concerning whether or not it's approvable are still currently borderline non-existent at the moment.

Either way, here goes nothing...

Name: Wraith

Powers and Abilities: Diagnostic Holographic Scanning - Wraith can scan almost anyone within her line of sight (provided they are of a similar height, weight, and build), granting her access to a quick rundown of their current condition, previous injuries, and vocal patterns, along with a complete three-dimensional layout of their appearance. She can then cloak herself inside of a light-based projection of the target, which both looks and feels like the original (impacts of considerable force will expose her, however, and active projections afford her no additional armor), allowing her to bypass security cameras without much notice while simultaneously concealing any weapons that she has in her possession from view (so long as she isn't attempting to attack with them, obviously), although a critical programming flaw that was unable to be patched before her activation renders this ability quite useless while in the presence of signal jamming devices. Her armor is also constructed out of a unique metalic alloy capable of of scrambling the frequencies of any scanners directed towards her person, making them appear to be malfunction so long as they continue to target her in an attempt to maintain her cover, though this makes her slightly more dificult to repair, as it also prevents medical scanning equipment from establishing a proper diagnosis of her condition.

Weapons: Cold-Fire Katana - A sword that, when its secondary function is activated, begins to slowly disintegrate any object its wielder attempts to cut at the molecular level, so long as said object remains in contact with the blade.

Dual Terminator Hand Cannons, modified with Suppressor Attachments - Can expend six shots each before needing to be manually reloaded. Possesses decent stopping power, and are semi-automatic.

Explosive Gel Sniper Rifle - A relatively silent weapon that fires capsules that shatter upon impact with their targets, splashing them with a relatively inert substance that can be detonated remotely via the rifle's secondary trigger, which activates a frequency emitter. While the resulting explosion does generate enough force to dent armor and possibly knock people back a bit, Wraith primarily uses it to arrange potentially deadly "accidents" from afar, mostly due to its relatively low damage output.

Appearance: Wraith is primarily silver, transparent purple and transparent light blue. She has light blue eyes, purple tendrils flowing from the back of her head, two talons emerging from her feet, and a skeletal motif that is littered with spikes.

Bio: Wraith is a Model R8H-47 assassin bot created by a Villain unknown to Hero Factory's database, who intended to build an army that could not only infiltrate their way into their headquarters, but also destroy them from the inside. He died shortly before his plans could be realised, however, and she and her sadistic sisters were eventually sold on the black market in order to cover his debts. A gang of small-time criminals eventually bought her in the hopes of bettering themselves by having her take out a local crime lord, but after figuring out that she was more intelligent than all of them put together within the first hour of her activation, she turned on her supposed "masters," murdering them all with nothing but her bare hands before deciding to go into business for herself as a professional contract killer.

And as of right now, she is one of the best there is at what she does.

I reduced her primary ability to the bare essentials, added in a way to potentially neutralise both the scanning and the chameleon aspects of said ability (not to mention the inclusion of yet another unfortunate drawback), changed her immunity to scanners so that it can now cause her to stick out like a sore thumb and draw unwanted attention to herself, and removed the nanobot aspect from her hand cannons entirely. The description for the rifle was also changed, basically turning it into a long range delivery system for the explosive gel commonly featured in the Arkham games, and while it can inflict some decent stun damage, it is now primarily used for trick shots and "accident" kills similar to the ones from the Hitman series.

Fun fact: Agent 47 was actually one of my primary sources of inspiration for Wraith, along with Star Wars' HK-47, and a certain futuristic race of machines who are fairly sufficient at killing anyone who crosses paths with them, so long as the individual in question doesn't sport the name of John Connor. So on the off-chance that she actually gets approved, I'd say it would be safe to expect some deadpan humor, the possibility of the term "Meatbag" frequenty being used while in conversation with organics, and whoever she's currently setting her sights on to have a really, really bad day. :P

OOC: Yay, another bounty hunter/mercenary/hired killer. Because that crowd can always use more influx.

OOC: I somewhat disagree. From what I've seen in other games, characters who exist solely to murder other characters tend not to get too much business. Or be very successful at their jobs. I mean, there are a few exceptions, but most of the kills in question were either accomplished with the respective player's permission, or resulted in said killer character becoming very unpopular with the rest of the playerbase.

Obviously though, bounty hunters, mercs and the like would probably be doing more than just killing in this game, so it may be a non-issue.

OOC: What I'm wondering about is, if Wraith scrambles signals- as in, all signals, which she seems to have no control over from the context of the profile- how does she use the remote detonator for her explosive gel (that uses signal frequencies) and her own cloaking device (which has been said to be disrupted by signal jamming devices)?

OOC: I'm pretty sure explosive detonators and hospital equipment wouldn't be using the same frequency bandwith, but that's not how it works anyway.

Basically, if we were substituting scanners for x-rays, then the alloy making up Wraith's armor would be replaced with a material similar to lead. So in other words, they're only affected for the duration that someone attempts to use them on her, which means that even if the two devices did use a similar bandwidth, the rifle would probably really only be affected if she was trying to aim it at herself from point-blank range.

OOC: So, wait, it only works on hospital equipment? And it's not a scrambler, just a blocking alloy? Also, I thought you meant she'd block all signals, since that's what's implied. So she only blocks signals directed to her, and only certain kinds? Sorry, I'm a bit mixed up here. These feel like things that need to be added to the profile, if they're what you're going for.

I think, apart from that, the only real issue that there could conceivably be with Wraith is the sheer amount of weapons and powers and abilities she has- they've been made less powerful, which is really really good, but there's so many of them. I don't know if that's just because it's a villain thing or what, though, so excuse me if I'm mixed up; I've only got the one villain character, so I'm kind of used to the power limits of Heroes.

It's definitely an improvement on the old profile, though. c: The weapons are much more reasonable.

IC: Night Stalker

The cuffs clicked around Night Stalker's wrists, draining his energy.  He didn't care.  He was busy, his mind racing.

Here was the dilemma.  What to say and what not to say?  They'd probably figure out from the other heroes eventually that yes, he had been the one to attack the police station, so saying that would make him seem cooperative.  Now the second question.  Should he rat out Traeferous?  He came to a decision.  He'd tell them that he was working for Traeferous, but he wouldn't tell them what he was doing.  He would feign ignorance.

Location: Hero Factory Ruins

Captor had managed to clamber up the cliff and was now standing close to Saracen, Gorn and Nightstalker. OOC: I'm assuming that security checkpoints would use similar equipment as well, since I don't think it would be too logical for them to stick with metal detectors, but it's most definitely due to the alloy used to build her armor, and the intention was for it to scramble any frequency that was currently attempting to scan her, not interfere with all devices within a certain radius of her location. Granted, you do make a good point about that being unclear, so that's something I'll be fixing shortly.

As for the amount of stuff she has, the layout for Villain Profile doesn't actually have a defined limit to what they can have attached to them, unlike the one for the Heroes, which seems to imply a limit of five (two main powers, two minor abilities, and a weapon, though these seem to be at least somewhat interchangeable as long as they don't exceed the previous limitations). Assuming that Villains are at a slight disadvantage here, that places them at around three or four potential slots, and further assuming that dual wielding two weapons of the same type (such as swords and small projectile weapons) only take up one of these slots, since that's how it usually works for most RPGs, that puts her somewhere around the upper limit of what she's allowed to start out with.

If you choose to disregard the comment about dual wielding, and count her sword's power and the alloy making up her armor as an extra two abilities, then yeah, that number would change to seven. However, those same stipulations would also need to be applied to previously approved characters like Breaker (who, last time I checked, was approved with at least six different weapons (two of which where dual wielded missile launchers, which probably shouldn't have counted towards that rule in the first place) and the ability to tap into the Hero Factory Network, which I'm personally counting towards that total, due to his status as a Villain), Epix (six scout drones, a scythe that can potentially deflect incoming projectiles, and the ability to predict the trajectory of his opponent's next attack), and Riot (enhanced speed, strength, and durability, in adition to a jetpack and two hand cannons of his own) as well, as doing otherwise would imply the existence of double standards within the approval process itself.

Personally though, Fishers doesn't seem to me like she's the type of person who would intentionally do something like that, so that's neither here nor there.

GM IC FRAVI

Fravi slammed on the accelerator and the door open button and jumped out the back door of the craft, leaving the ship to fly away rapidly from the Hero Factory. Hopefully it would hit something like a building and the computer would shut the engines off.

Unfortunately for Fravi, metal spikes and metal wings were very conductive to electricity. Fravi felt her wings spread...but that was the only thing she felt before she blacked out, falling not very far away from the Heroes below.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

As if on cue, the two cargo ships rose from the side of the beach, dragging the engines back toward the wreck on the other side of the island. The cargo ship's engines were clearly straining loudly, despite the fact that there were two ships.

This would be clearly visible to anyone on the island, although Traferous would have to pass around the Astral, which would temporarily block him from view as he passed.

OOC: Villains are not at a disadvantage here. They are allowed the same amount of power/weapons as Heroes. The difference in profile is to allocate for the fact that heroes are made in a Factory, and are generally standardized, while villains would have difference power/weapon combos.

For example, a villain with no weapons would be allowed a higher level of power than a Hero - a villain with no powers would be allowed more weapons. Arsenal is a classic case of the latter, Traferous and the gel buddy in Mechanos are cases of the former.

OOC: Thank you to Fishers for summarising what I was thinking about. Wraith has both a lot of power and a lot of weapons, which is kind of an issue. Her disguise ability is incredibly powerful on its own, and she has 4+ weapons on top of that. I say 4+ because you mentioned "cannons" and I'm not sure how many of those there are.

Also, Fishers, I have two questions: can Thumper see Traferous from where she is, and if so, is he in a form she can recognise?

IC: Wilhelm Gorn- Ruins

Gorn turned to see... A talking dog? His helmet masked his disbelief, until he remembered something he heard a while back about the factory experimenting with different body shapes for heroes. The hero was asking for help, but Gorn saw nothing.

"Help? With what? I don't see anyone."

Gorn didn't have time to get a response before he heard something strike the ground near the group with a loud crash.

"Um... Hold that thought."

Gorn ran over to investigate, only to be baffled for the second time in under a minute. Maybe this wasn't real. Maybe he had gone to a bar and had a few too many drinks. Maybe this was just a really weird dream. First, the factory was destroyed, and now, Pleasurebots were falling from the sky...

IC: Ken Render - Ground Floor

The medic did good work, all that was left was the helm. Render went to grab it, and realised that in his rush to grab components, he'd apparently picked up a blue helmet. Well, it was better than nothing, and a whole lot less confusing than another Hero wearing Thumper's full armour. He attached it carefully.

"Good work," he said to the medic. He addressed Forticus. "How you feeling? Can you stand, pardner?"

OOC: Yes, briefly. Thumper is under the Astral, so she should be able to see him as he passes by. I don't think she would recognize him, unless she saw him on Mechron when he was rescuing 78, and I don't think she did.

Saracen, on the other had, would recognize him instantly. O_O

GM IC FRAVI

Fravi just stared vacantly, unconscious from the the lightning. The crash had done little to disturb her fried electric circuits.

Gorn might notice that this particular "pleasurebot" had blades for hair, and metal-frame wings, though.

OOC: Fixed in response to Zippy's previous suggestions.

For the record, she's only ever had two Hand Cannons, which is why I mentioned the general rule about dual wielding in the first place. Since they belong in the handgun/pistol territory, and thus become less potent at longer distances, pairing them together would only make them about as effective as a standard shotgun or rifle (just with considerably less punch and even worse accuracy), which is why I've been counting them both in the same weapon slot.

Taking that into account, she only technically has three weapon slots in addition to her disguise ability, and only one of them is powered, while one of the other two are effectively going to end up becoming situationally useless depending on how far away she is from the person she's trying to kill. Now, if I'm missing something as to how this configuration could potentially be unfair from an actual IC standpoint, then by all means, feel free to explain your position in further detail, and I'll take the time to read through it and reconsider things from your point of view. As it stands right now, however, I'm having a really hard time seeing this as an issue, since any given character in this RPG would still possess a reasonably fair chance of defeating her in combat, as the majority of her actions can still potentially be countered.

I'm honestly trying to work with all of you here, but it's starting to feel like no matter what I attempt to say, the situation just keeps on escalating.

IC Wolfe - Tower Ruins:

Wolfe waited patiently as Quark disappeared into the ship. He wondered how Quiver was holding up, as well as the other rookies. Like many veterans, Wolfe had grown very fond of his fellows and of Hero Factory over the last century. With the Tower gone, and an unknown number of friends now dead or dying, a feeling of emptiness was settling in his core. But Wolfe was no stranger to loss -- he knew what it was to lose friends, albeit on a much smaller scale than this. He could weather the storm. The rookies, however, he wasn't so sure. But perhaps for youngsters like Quiver this would serve to steel them for the future, and they would come out the better for it. That was his hope, anyway.

Thumper came out just then and Wolfe was happy to see that she was taking the situation relatively well. "Yep," he replied, and turned towards the bulk of the wreckage. "And, hey, if you want to head back to the Astral at any point, just let me know. It's going to be unpleasant business at times, and I don't want to push you."

IC Flint - Tower Ruins, Other Side:

The large Hero simply grunted in response. He didn't know whether he found Selphi amusing, annoying, or just plain weird. It was probably all three at once. What annoyed him more, though, was the rising thrum of some fairly massive ship engines. He glanced up, but there was nothing to see from where he stood. At least until he caught sight of Saracen flying some ways above him. "D### fool is going to get himself shot down..." he muttered.

IC Dr. Xaal's Drone #2 - City Outskirts, Old Timer:

The drone tilted to the side as one would tilt his head. "He is close by," it coaxed.

IC: Ferro- Antropolis City

Ferro loaded the second turbine onto the dropship.

"Is that everything?"

IC: Wilhelm Gorn- Ruins

Upon closer inspection, Gorn noticed that the Pleasurebot was modified, as she had blades for hair, and a pair of wings. How she had managed to fall with those was anyone's guess. Picking her up by the head, Gorn carried the new arrival back to where Captor and Night Stalker were waiting. He turned to the cuffed villain, showing him the unconscious bot.

"Do you know who this is?"

The bot would be detained for questioning either way, Gorn simply wanted to know what level of caution to use, in the event that she regained consciousness.

IC: Arsenal- The Lamprey

Arsenal was alerted by his ship's onboard computer that he was approaching the planet of Mechna. Excellent. His escape from Makuhero city had gone unnoticed by the Hero Factory, so he was safe. For now...

Saracen, on the other had, would recognize him instantly. O_O

OOC: At last, the time has come for Saracen's revenge!

IC: Saracen Rune - Above Hero Factory.

He knew this villain. Both of them, actually. The two villains piloting the cargo vessels were the one he'd failed to apprehend on Mechron, and the one who'd been piloting the ship the other had escaped on.

"Shoot down those ships!" He snapped into his comms, hoping that at least some of the other heroes nearby still had their turned on, "The pilots are the same villains who were involved in the attacks on Mechron City!" For a moment, he was torn as to which of the two ships to try to bring down. But he could fly, why not attack both?

He circled around behind the two vessels, opening fire with his rifle at their engines.

IC Dr. Xaal's Drone #2 - City Outskirts, Old Timer:

The drone tilted to the side as one would tilt his head. "He is close by," it coaxed.

IC: Sir Reginald Buckley - Old Timer, City Outskirts.

"That's nice," he replied lamely. If he'd been in any condition to wander off to find help, he would've done so by now.

GM IC TRAFEROUS

Traferous did a smart thing when Saracen attacked - or at least, he thought it was smart. He ducked. While the bullets of a single hero simply burned the ship's hull a bit and moved the ships closer together, a move that Traferous had to correct, Saracen would soon try to fire on the pilot, Traferous knew. And who knew what a whole force of Heroes could do.

"Increase altitude," he ordered to 78. They were past the Astral now, but they needed to get over the island and take the shortest route to the left hangar bay, even over land. Tricky, and it might damage the engines even more, but now they had no choice. He could feel his rage building, but he shoved it down. Once the engines were back were they belonged, it would be time for anger.

GM NPC FURNO

"Is Flood here? I think that is everything, except he was loading turbine parts."

IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker shrugged.  "Don't remember honestly.  She might have been on board, I was busy at the time and didn't see much of the crew."

IC: Wilhelm Gorn- Ruins

That was good enough for Gorn. Taking out his spare pair of cuffs, he used them to bind the unconscious bot, before setting her down. Gorn frowned. He needed to find a way to keep these two here while he helped the dog-hero. Seeing a thin steel beam nearby gave Gorn an idea. He went and retrieved it. It was much heavier than it looked, but the important thing was that it was taller than Night Stalker. Gorn dragged the beam back to where the prisoners were, and got to work.

"Hold still."

Gorn threaded the beam through both Night Stalker and Fravi's arms. Holding it vertically, he ignited his Plasma Sword. Using it's superheated blade, he crudely welded the beam to the large piece of wreckage the two prisoners were on. When it was time to take them back to... wherever they were going to be imprisoned, he would simply slice the beam in half.

Satisfied, Gorn turned to Captor.

"Like I said: Who do you need help with, I don't see anyone?"

OOC: Gorn is officially out of hero cuffs.

IC: Jonathan Splint - Open-air Basement

"I can recover him," he replied. He climbed into the pilot's seat of his ship and turned to Georje.

"Is the FTL drive functional?"

"Yup. Might take a little longer to charge though."

"Outstanding. The ship's in no condition to fight. If someone attacks us after we have our patient, we're high-tailing it out of there."

"Understood."

The Hero gently pushed on one of the controls, and the Lifeline began to rise into the air. He activated the ship's radio and tried to hail Buckley.

"This is field medic Splint. I'm currently en route to your position. Hang in there."
