IC: Daxer Phyrus

Location: Hospital Foyer

"Who's talking hostage situation? I had something else in mind. Hold on..." Daxer linked in to the hero comms; "Hey, Zib, can you tell me the status of a 'Jimmy Abacus'? We might need his help over here. You might need to search in the hidden directory, considering his current... line of work."

OOC: Making a new character

Hero Profile:

Name: Jimmy Abacus

Powers and Abilities:

Major:

Technopathy - Can access the hard code of any machine in close proximity to him. The closer he is to said machinery, the stronger his access to its code. He can then re-write, inspect, or even erase the code of the machine, something he has become quite proficient at through the years.

Minor:

Speed and agility - Jimmy is very quick and agile, and is capable of dodging most attacks, which is very useful for someone with no real offensive capabilities.

Quick mind - Jimmy's processing power has been greatly increased to allow him to think faster, which comes to use when trying to tamper with something's code.

Gear: Jimmy has a hacking kit which allows him to get direct access to any machinery when his powers prove to not be enough on their own. He can also use this kit to link directly to the hero-net, which gives him greater processing capabilities, allowing him to hack and process code faster than normal. He also has a simple multi-setting energy pistol, and a mandatory field kit used for self repair or repair of other field operatives.

Appearance: Jimmy is a bit shorter than other heroes, and very much so thinner, but this is a useful feature that allows him access to places bigger heroes normally wouldn't be able to access. His armour is a metallic black, with green light lines forming cyber patterns all over his body. He can shut the lights off when he needs to be stealthy. His eyes are a bright green.

Bio: Jimmy is currently a black-ops operative. He is undoubtedly one of the calmest heroes around, and is able to keep a level head in the most stressful of situations; something that comes to use when for example he's hacking a bomb's timer and there's only a few seconds left until it detonates. He is always calculating the best way to approach situations, and his enhanced processing power means he can do this very quickly, assessing situations from every angle and taking every variable into account before drawing a conclusion.

OOC: New character approved.

GM NPC ZIB

"Jimmy Abacus? You're asking for a black ops Hero - I thought you guys already had Striker down there. He's charged and ready to go, but not sure what you would need him for right off hand. "

GM NPC HEALER BOT

The bot tried to move off of Daxer Phyrus' line of fire. Slowly. It did not like being targeted, and was programmed to avoid being attacked.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

The evil brains began their work of dissembling Splint's hero pod and a few other wrecked ones nearby, building something that looked a little bit like a Hero dropship. Time was of the essence, after all.

Some brains included some parts from the cannon nearby, through. While this craft might not be the most stable one in existance, it would have some form of energy weaponry.

GM NPC DUMACC

"NOOOOOOOO! Robots, take them down!

GM IC ???

Sigh.

Punch robot in the face.

Four robots on the floor in pieces.

Didn't hesitate for a minute before punching out one of four robots surrounding Katherine. It went down.

Saw all three robots turn and try to go down the stairs. Heard Sarcen and Phyrus' conversation. Heard Dumacc's order. Punched out another robot. Watched the other two go down the stairs.

Looked at Katherine. Looked tired. Didn't exactly have to change forms to do that. He was going to need more mass soon. More energy.

His plans would have to change soon, as well. Karter and his minions were losing, it seemed, although the tide could turn otherwise at any second. But if the Heroes found Project Sunstorm...and they figured out that his little project wasn't tied to Karter's and Dumacc's little puppet show, although, given all the precautions, might take awhile...then he needed to be off planet with his hand over the button.

But why not sit here in this tower and enjoy reports of his enemies' demise for just a little bit longer? After all, half the fun of killing was knowing just who you were putting a miserable end too, hmm.

IC: Arsenal

Arsenal deactivated his rotor blades, allowing himself to fall the last few meters down to the street. The impact was enough to create a small crack in the pavement, but there was nobody around to see it. He frowned. For a place that had been invaded by the Hero Factory, it was surprisingly devoid of the diminutive warriors that he had grown to hate. Perhaps they had been dealt with before he had arrived? Unlikely, as the two Scientists he was supposed to be assisting would probably have notified him that his presence was no longer needed. Using the codes he had been given, Arsenal attempted to establish contact with his employers.

"Do you read me? This is "Arsenal". What are my orders?"

IC: Daxer Phyrus

Location: Hospital Foyer

"Alright, send him in on our co-ordinates. His abilities and skill may be the only thing that can save the day." Meanwhile, Daxer followed the healing bot's slow movement with his rifle, not allowing the robot get out of his line of fire.

IC: Jimmy Abacus

Location: Hospital Foyer

Only a short while later, the hero pod belonging to Jimmy landed just next to the hospital. The small hero leaped from his pod and sprinted inside, arriving at the scene of the Karter's capture. "Hi guys what's up?" He speedily said, not realizing how extremely fast he had said it.

IC Ezec:

A panel of something slightly opaque formed between the axe and Ezec.

"Drop my sister," he growled loud enough to be heard by Jet.

"Or I'll really start tearing this guy limb from rusty limb."

IC: Splint

Splint pushed on the panel, hard. It didn't budge. Good thing I don't need it to. The portion of the axe in contact with the panel liquefied and melted around to the other side of the panel, where it reformed and continued moving towards Ezec.

IC Jet [sunny Square]: The rookie whirled around when Ezec spoke, panicking a moment. His glance flicked between Splint and the villain as he tried to figure out what he should do. The warrior medic seemed to be holding his own, though Ezec could still carry out his threat if they weren't careful. Aza's prone form wasn't going anywhere, at least at present, so Jet thought it best to stick around and help while the fight remained three-on-one -- if Rocka was still able to fight, that is.

Jet put his hands up as though to say 'you win' and shrugged. "Have it your way," he replied before dashing off to Ezec's left to get behind him and hopefully provide a distraction for Splint.

Edit #3: Sorry about that; all fixed now.

GM NPC DUMACC

"Get to this abandoned hospital now!" Dumacc frantically radioed Karter's cooridinates to Arsenal. "There's a bunch of Heroes in there, our leader is down, and we need you to take them out before they drag him off to who knows where."

GM NPC ROCKA

Rocka just groaned. His leg was severed and his arm was mangled. Expecting him to fight at this point was pushing any bounds of realism he knew.

OOC: Ok, try two, I took some time to think him over, even changed his bio.  Hopefully this is ok.

Hero Profile:
Name: Fred Stinger

Powers and Abilities: He has small, retractable, laser blasters in his forearms.  Due to certain constraints in his design he cannot use them if he is holding something (In the same hand as the arm the blaster is on).  His body is built for agility.

Weapon(s):  He carries a large shield and a small sword.

IC: Arsenal

So... It seems that things hadn't gone as planned.

"Right. I'm heading there now."

As he spoke, Arsenal spotted what appeared to be space debris entering the atmosphere. Most would dismiss this as a small meteor or a piece of a long destroyed ship, but Arsenal knew from experience that it was a pod containing yet another hero. He must act quickly, before they send more reinforcements! Activating his rotor blades, Arsenal began flying toward the coordinates he had been sent, making sure to keep out of sight.

IC: Arsenal- entering hospital

Having reached the coordinates, Arsenal studied the scene through a window in building across the street from the hospital. There were Heroes, all right, and with them, seemingly unconscious, was the scientist he was supposed to rescue. His first instinct was to fire a rocket into the building, but such an entertaining solution wouldn't work in a situation like this. He couldn't risk injuring the scientist, even if it would kill the heroes as well.

No... A job like this would require... Stealth...

Exiting the building, Arsenal calmly approached the hospital entrance, cloaking himself as he did so. Entering the Foyer, he saw an injured hero was conversing with a medical bot, while the others too, were unaware of his presence. Slowly, he aimed his machine gun at the injured Hero's back, and pulled the Trigger...

OOC: The injured Hero is Saracen.

IC--Simon Trigger--Sky

"I'm not about to just leave a wanted criminal in this situation. Just surrender, and this will be easier on--"

Simon's nerves suddenly set to jangling. A breeze that didn't quite fit with the wind patterns up here gusted toward the back of his head. He dove frantically, and something sharp clipped the top of his head. He spared a fraction of a second to fire both cannons toward where the attack had come from, but most of his attention was on correcting his now dangerously erratic flight pattern...

IC--Artemus Schadenfreude--Grand Tranq

Artemus couldn't hold back a grin as he saw the situation in the hotel. It was one of the things he loved about this job--seeing ordinary citizens step up to the plate, time and again, even in the most frightening circumstances, was truly inspiring. Even as he reflected , he was.wading into the fray to help mop up the remaining opposition.

IC: Saracen Rune - Hospital Foyer.

Alas, Saracen had his back to the nearest wall and was facing towards the entrance, making it impossible for Arsenal to have gotten behind him without him noticing. Secondly, in spite of being invisible, Arsenal's heavy footsteps crunching in the broken glass all over the street outside and floor inside were clearly audible to the two heroes.

The moment he heard the sound of the approaching footsteps, Saracen looked up, cycling through his goggle's various optic enhancements until his thermal vision picked out the sight of a very big, very nasty looking bot entering the hospital, seemingly pointing in his direction. He flew sideways as the titan opened fire, drawing his rifle and firing a few rounds towards the bright flashes of heat that marked out the barrel of the enemy's weapon.

IC: Arsenel

"Now I remember why I should just stick to shooting things."

The injured hero had somehow noticed Arsenel, and was apparently not quite as injured as he had thought. Saracen's shots grazed the barrels of Arsenal's machine gun, knocking his arm downwards and spraying the floor with gunfire. Irritated, the bulky hunter instinctively did something that he regretted the second he did it: He fired a missile at the Hero, from one of his shoulder cannons.

IC Ghid Squidulus

What a great colour. Reflective white. And very easy to spot in the night.

Still, though...

Ghid Squidulus' hopes rose when he saw a hospital a ways away. Perhaps there was something there to stop the energy leak... He hoped. His shield was almost entirely warped now, barely having the ability to look like a shield. At least the edges were still sharp. Maybe when this was over, he would get a different weapons set.

Then machine gun fire and tiny flashes of light filled the air, as a massive dark figure stood by the door. Nothing to do but slowly approach, and hope he wasn't noticed easily. He put on a hologram of a big, black, blobby-looking character which was all he could see of the figure by the door, and waked close to the shadows in an attempt to catch him off-guard.

IC: Saracen Rune - Hospital Foyer.

Having put a bit more distance between himself and the assailant during his strafe, Saracen had enough time to process the fact that A: there was a missile heading towards him, and B: he had pretty much backed himself into a corner.

Seeing no other option, he flew along the wall, firing at the launcher the missile had emerged from and hoping he'd managed to outrun the... Nope... the rocket smashed into the wall, the subsequent detonation destabilising his capacitors and sending him tumbling from the air, to crash into the rows of chairs lining the wall.

IC: Arsenal

Arsenal was pleasantly surprised to see that the building still stood tall, despite the missile's explosion. He wasn't going to risk it again, however, as he doubted the building could handle a second explosion. But as the hero had been stunned by the blast, he must deal with him, first.

Still keeping an eye on the injured hero, Arsenal fired his machine gun in the direction of the other heroes in the room, intending to scatter them and prevent them from having a clear shot at him. At the same time, he began making his way to the center of the room, towards both them and Karter.

GM NPC KARTER'S SECURITY ROBOTS

The robots looked confused. Most intruders wouldn't have the passcode needed to close the door in their faces. It was possible that Karter had allied with this one without telling them, yes? But why would he do that?

They didn't pursue Gadget further.

GM NPC HEALER ROBOT

The robot looked over the robot in front of him. "Target for powers not acceptable," the bot said. "Need clearance."

It was then that a mercenary attacked. The repair bot knelt down, trying to stay out of the line of fire.

So, as a few of you know, I do a lot of MOCs in LDD.

Sometimes for character designs, sometimes for fun.

This particular MOC was a bit of both.

Consider it an open character. Obviously intended to be a Hero, but if you PM me for it's use, you have free reign over it.

Also shameless plug, but I can also do specific LDD MOC's and renders as a sort of commission for a small charge.

IC:

As quickly as he had attacked he had reverted to flame and smoke to avoid an expected counterattack, one that came in the form of cannon fire. Floating up and above the Hero's now panicked and erratic flight, he resurveyed the scene, hoping perhaps the wretch he had saved would help in some way.

..?!

He caught naught but the disgusting rump of the creature as it slithered away, had it not been ready and willing to lay it's life down in defense of him, in reverence towards him, in simple GRATITUDE, no, DEBT towards him?! The gall of Hero and Villain alike shocked and offended him, his flames burning brighter and hotter as he rushed towards the flyer in a fury, intending to surround and cling to him until he was nothing but slag and ash.

OOC: Okay, it seems that my interpretation of the hospital foyer's layout and the general positioning of everyone in it is different to that of some of the other players involved. So I've come up with these quick diagrams to help convey what I think is going on:

uXSY2kk.png

Daxer, the Healer Bot and Saracen were all near the unconscious Karter. Daxer had his weapon pointed at the healer, Saracen was attempting to talk to it. Meanwhile, Arsenal was coming in through the door...

1k6VYVc.png

He opened fire on Saracen, who spotted him and began to fly to the side, while returning fire himself.

dv5Omsc.png

Arsenal decided to fire a missile, at which point Saracen had reached other side of the room, and broke a window to let the missile out of the foyer, thus preventing it from bringing down the roof and killing everyone.

YA5ETX6.png

Arsenal then flew outside and lobbed a grenade towards the back of the foyer, in a position where Karter will apparently be out of range, yet both heroes are well within the blast radius. However, if I've been understanding this right, the two heroes are now on opposite sides of the room, and one of them is still standing right beside Karter...

This is just how I've been interpreting things, so I'd appreciate it if the other players involved - Pyrolizard, Onaku and fishers - could pitch in with their views so we can discuss, and sort this out without it developing into a massive argument.

OOC: Is there anyone specifically who needs help? I am still trying to figure out the best way to get Stinger in.

Everyone.

:P

To be more specific, Sarcen is wounded and fighting a bunch of people in a hospital, hopefully with the help of Toa Onaku's characters. Splint, Jet, and Rocka are fighting a pair of villains, with Rocka critically injured. Those seem to be the most urgent needs.

There's also Gadget who is trying to invade Karter's base and doing a bad job of it, and John Striker, who is trying to find Stringer and Bulk, two captured Heroes, and also kind of doing a bad job of it too. :P

Which reminds me. Sorry this one took so long. And yes, the fact that this IC is red is no accident.

GM NPC CITIZENS AND ATTACK ROBOTS WHO WENT TO GO FIND STRINGER AND BULK (UNDERGROUND)

This particular group quickly passed up the first tunnel, shuddering if they could feel or know the danger that lurked there. They hurried down the second tunnel to see the net and the wires leading down to it.

One of the citizens approached the wire with a set of snips, only to be shoved aside by an attack bot who sheared the wire down with a laser. Electricity crackled at the end of it, leaving the other robots to shudder as they stepped over the now deelectrified net.

Continuing on, they encountered two kryptonium blasters buried in the floor. One of the citizen stepped in a certain place and it fired, bringing down the ceiling with a large crash. Another citizen stepped on a another place and the second blaster fired, destroying the rock the first brought down. A few more firings, and they continued on, careful to avoid those two spots on the floor.

After this, and a few more yards of uneventful tunnel, they arrived at a place where the red rock glowed, and two heroes were lying on the rock in blissful sleep, their quaza cores wired to the strange substance.

But, connected to the wires was also some dangerous calicidum explosives, famous for needing energy to be stabilized, and commonly used in ship's self destruct systems. Pull the wires out of the Hero's cores to free them, and they risked exploding the Heroes and killing them off for good. That, and themselves too.

The citizens debated among themselves. They could not risk letting these Heroes go until Project Sunstorm was completed. Even then, however, there might be a few Heroes that would survive the destruction of the Factory. They did not want another excuse for Heroes to make Tranquis their next vacation destination.

A citizen pulled out a wire and nervously ran it from the calcidium to the anti-quaza, beginning his terrible work.

---------------

OOC: I already wrote/ described what that area is - I pictured it as about the size of a hospital waiting room. Couple of notes:

1) I pictured Karter's position as being more in the middle of the room. He's running to get to the place where Gadget is currently at, so he wouldn't be quite that far to the side. (but he would be somewhat to the left, yarr.)

2) As I would interpret it, there would be no windows one as least one side of that room, and probably both. That area is in the middle of the building, hence the hallways to the left and right. The front would be all windows by the entrance, and the back would be the reception desk, which Arsenal's grenade would hit. It would be okay to have a rocket hit the wall instead of you, but a window isn't so good IMO.

3) There are chairs on both sides of that room, which Sarcen could take cover behind or use.

4) That rocket isn't going to bring the roof down. This is a hospital made of steel beams, not a cheaply constructed American house made of matchsticks. I wouldn't allow a character to carry a rocket launcher that big.

IC Jet [sunny Square]: There wasn't much Jet could do with a full force-shield surrounding Ezec. Giving up whatever attack he previously had in mind, he instead just stood behind the white-armored being, watching the shield warily. "And then what?" he countered. "She can't exactly help you lying on her face like that, cuffed or not."

As he spoke, Jet began to inch towards Rocka's position, putting himself between Ezec and the injured Hero.

Edited my last Saracen post to accommodate for the lack of windows, but I'm still going to have to wait for Onaku to confirm Daxer's location relative to Karter before we can deal with the grenade situation.

OOC: That's what happens when a villain shoves a red-hot knife through your leg for three posts.

Edit: @Nato: It might be my bad too, since I kept thinking that Karter was in an open hangar bay even though it made no sense - why would a hospital have a hangar bay? But I do have to stick to what it actually is even though my brain wants to tell me otherwise.

OOC: it's also worth noting that Ezec is on top of Rocka. As such, they're both inside the shield.

IC Ezec:

"She won't be down for long. You hand her over, I hand him over, we part ways and leave tranquis."

IC John Striker:

Spotting a terminal, he quickly began searching the files for relevant data, as well as the location of the missing heroes. While he was at it, he started an upload of all their files to Hero Factory. With all the necessary precautions, of course. It wouldn't do if a rogue virus took over the Factory.

OOC: Disregard that last sentence, then. :I

IC Jet [sunny Square]: Jet knew the villain was right, and the prospect of having Aza rejoin the fight made him uneasy. He didn't want to undo the work he and Splint had gone through to catch her, but getting Rocka to safety seemed more important at present. However, due to his lack of experience in this kind of situation, he didn't feel entirely comfortable making a decision such as this. He glanced at Splint with a helpless expression.

Alright, I edited my last Arsenal post. Since he actually stunned Saracen with the rocket, he had no reason to throw a grenade.

IC: Daxer Phyrus & Jimmy Abacus

Location: Hospital Foyer

Daxer had stayed by Karter, keeping an eye on the healing bot until Jimmy put his gun up to watch it instead. But then the villain started firing physical bullets at them. Although Jimmy wasn't built to withstand attacks much at all, Daxer was perfect for intercepting this attack. He stood up and took a wide stance, taking all the bullets.

But instead of them penetrating his armor and damaging him, they stopped just as they made contact with him, and then dropped to the floor. After a couple of seconds of this, Daxer smiled. He was charged full of kinetic energy. And then, before anyone could conceivably notice, Daxer had shot at Arsenal with a fist charged with kinetic energy worth a bunch of bullets, headed straight at his face at the speed of a bullet.

IC: Saracen Rune - Hospital Foyer.

He tried to pick himself up, but soon collapsed onto the broken chairs, his body aching. He was in no condition to rejoin the fight so soon. For now, he just... needed to... rest a little...

He lay where he was, forcing himself to remain aware of his surroundings as he waited for his battered body to recover...

IC: Arsenal

At first, it seemed like one of the heroes had decided to make a heroic sacrifice, standing in the line of fire and taking the bullets in order to save his friend. That assumption was quickly proven false when, with little warning, the hero charged towards him and delivered a punch so hard, it sent Arsenal flying through a wall, knocking him back into the street. Dazed, but still functional, the mercenary quickly threw a grenade through the hole, and took off in flight. The grenade probably wouldn't be able to do much damage, but it served as a nice distraction.

IC: Arsenal-hospital

He had underestimated these heroes. There was no way he'd be able to accomplish his goal with a direct assault. Arsenal felt bits of shrapnel hit his legs as his grenade exploded below him. Thankfully, he was too high up for it to do any damage, but he would need to try a different approach. Landing on top of the hospital, the mercenary got an idea...
