IC: Mr Vyle - Hanger Bay.

"I see..." he mused, glancing towards one of the brains, "...I take it you know more about these creatures than I do, then."

OOC Sorry I was gone for a few days; I was fairly busy and not feeling very well on top of that. I'll be sure to tell you guys first if that ever happens again.

IC--Artemus Schadenfreude--Grand Tranq lobby

"Right." Artemus nodded his agreement, then turned to address the crowd.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen," he said more loudly, his voice friendly yet deliberately firm, "we just got word from HQ. Everyone needs to stay put until the situation outside is under control. Agent Riot will be sweeping the rest of the building while I keep an eye on things in here. Keep calm and don't leave the room; this should all be dealt with shortly."

IC--Simon Trigger--Sky

After a few hundred feet with no sign of any further projectiles, Simon slowed to a cautious hover. He noted with disappointment that the villain he had been apprehending seemed to have taken advantage of his distraction and escaped; there was no sign of the creature anywhere. Grimacing and rubbing his aching head, the sullen flying ace began scanning the streets again.

OOC: Simon open for interaction.

IC Ghid

"Who are you?" Ghid asked, forcing himself to his feet. "We're currently undergoing repairs, and we'll be back out soon to answer your question."

That's odd... Justs walks in out of nowhere, ignors the obvious damage to the building, the smashed elevator, and asks on our condition like he's boss.

GM IC FRAVI

"Possibly," Fravi countered. "They are a hazard to transport vessels all over the galaxy, and from some covert work of our own we have learned that their 'master' seeks to rule the entire galaxy."

Fravi shrugged. "You might as well come in and get a recharge, and I can show you around. We are interested in your vessel's unique construction, and perhaps more importantly, the fact that it can access Hero Factory frequencies - we do wish to have access to those. But we're not directly in the business of theft, so I'm confident that we can arrange something beneficial to us both." She smiled, and turned to open the doors, leading the way in. Mr. Vyle would see the long blade collection on her back.

The two guards near her, however, did not turn around. Fravi trusted them implicitly, for it was easy to buy fools off. This Mr. Vyle character, however, does not strike me as a fool.

GM IC ???

"I'm Mene Vantal." the villain said, carefully concealing his emotions. And you are what, pathetic creature?

"And I'm asking if things are okay because it's not my practice to leave Heroes in the lurch when I see them not in tip-top shape. I'm thinking I'll go down in the underground base and smash a few heads together, but not at the expense of leaving my fellow Heroes in trouble."

IC: Mr Vyle - Hanger Bay.

"Ruling the galaxy?" he gave the brains a disappointed look, "How very cliche." He began to follow Fravi, noting that the guards had made no move to disarm him. Not that it mattered; he had no intention of attacking anyone when he was outnumbered so extensively.

He'd found that words were far more formidable than any other weapons...

IC Striker:

In a nanosecond, the shotgun was levelled at Stringer's back.

"Another step and I will be forced to shoot you."

OOC: would that include Furno and co? Also, if anyone else wants to be on this new dropship, just hot me up with a PM.

OOC: Yes, it would. Although Evo and Nex might be more logical choices, but they can aways get in there via another dropship.

Also, I'd say that her ship would probably only reasonably take on five additional passengers (other than her). We played fast and loose with that last RPG, but with so many dropships in the sky we probably don't need to in this situation. :)

GM NPC STRINGER

"Really?" Stringer said, leveling his eyes at Striker. "You want to play hardball? This is a Code 23 Hero emergency, on top of a Code 4 with innocent civillians in danger. This is no time to be worried about me, okay? So stop pointing that rifle at me, and point it at someone who is actually an enemy. As a member of Alpha team, that's an order."

IC Striker:

His eyes narrowed.

"I don't take orders from you. Right now, you are an at risk asset, nothing more. And until I get a solid diagnostics, you aren't going anywhere."

His finger tightened ever so slightly in the trigger.

IC Jade Riley:

High above the skies of Tranquis VII, a yellow dropship descended. This was not Jade's usual bird, but since hers was being repaired after coming under fire, it would have to do.

She glanced at her two passengers, Heroes Nex and Evo. The not so rookie members of Alpha Team. Their leader, William Furno stood behind them.

"Hope you boys are ready, cause we're coming in a little hot!"

The drop ship dusted the ground, several defense cannons coming close to scoring hits on the craft. No, this was definitely not 479er. Those cannons wouldn't have come so close had it been her own bird.

The two heroes jumped out already firing, and Jade pulled the craft up and away from the landing zone.

She called back to Furno, "alright, sir, gonna need the coordinates for your drop zone, Command was very hush hush about this mission."

Under her breath, she added, "Be nice if they'd stop pretending I don't risk my life just as much as you guys do..."

GM IC FRAVI

Fravi entered the entrance hall. Two double glass doors in front of her led to another hangar bay, which appearently was the storage place for all sorts of aircraft, from slender nosed near-rockets to a large tub bristling with weaponry to a thing that looked like a porcupine with propeller jets.

To her right was a long waterfall, running softly into a very large pool, and what appeared to be a large brickwall behind it. A distant thrum of a reactor could be heard from here, though it seemed well insulated.

To Fravi's left was a stairwell and a small recharging booth, which she just gestured towards mildly. She wanted to talk with her guest, but it would not do to have him keel in the middle of the conversation. She was simply being polite.

GM NPC STRINGER

"Alright, buddy, I don't want a fight. Let's go get your precious diagnostic so I can get back into battle. We are wasting time here."

Frankly, at this point I want a diagnostic on YOU.

IC Striker:

He lowered the rifle slightly, and let out a breath he wasn't aware he'd been holding.

"Follow the tunnels, they'll lead you to the tech specialist. Once you're clear, you're free to act on your own mission as you see fit"

He cracked a rare smile.

"Don't worry about the other asse- about Bulk. I'll deal with them."

He levelled the rifle once more.

"Now if you could duck real fast, that would be most excellent."

The other combat bots were still behind him, after all.

GM IC GADGET

The quaza on top of the anti-quaza in front of him looked exactly like it was - there wasn't any technology there, just stone, energy, and rock.

The kryptonium blasters mounted on the walls, however, all had wireless transmitters embedded in them. If he could remove the transmitters from the blasters without setting them off, his work would likely be close to done.

Unfortunately, the villain in this town had come to class prepared. His technopathy would tell him that there was a wireless signal constantly going to these transmitters to keep the blasters from going off. The blasters were half-buried themselves in the rock, so removing them entirely might not be the best idea. He might be able to take apart the weapon to diffuse the kryptonium - his technopathy would show him the inside of it and how it was laid out.

IC: Gadget Thompson/The Bomb Room

"Yeah, speaking of the 'tech specialist,'" I said through the comms, "I really think said 'tech specialist' could use an extra hand-slash-guard."

I began to heavily focus my analytic technopathy on the kryptonian blasters to see the safest way to dismantle the wireless devices, and also I could find a way to have them fire manually. If Stringer was going anywhere after visiting me, he needed a way to defend himself.

IC: Mr Vyle - Recharging Station.

Apart from his brief battle against the Hero on the theatre roof, he hadn't done much to drain his power during his time on Tranquis VII, but he wasn't going to pass up a free opportunity to recharge, since Fravi had offered.

"Thank you," he said gratefully, plugging himself into the station.

IC: Jimmy Abacus

Location: Hospital Foyer

Mene Vantal? Jimmy had looked at the roster of heroes currently on or en route to the planet before his arrival, but he had most certainly not seen anyone named 'Mene Vantal'. Not to mention the fact the guy was acting a bit strange... "Vantal, eh? It's good to make the acquaintance of another hero. The name's Abacus. Jimmy Abacus." Jimmy reached out his hand for a simple handshake. Just to be courteous.

OOC: Quick question about Civilian Characters: I know it states that Civilians don't have access to powers, but does the same apply for passive abilities as well?

I'm currently developing one at the moment, and part of their potential backstory involves the planet that they originally came from being much closer to its respective sun, thus implying that the robots there were primarily constructed to survive in much higher temperatures in exchange for being less resistant to climates more suited to sustain organic life (in other words, room temperature to them would be really cold, and they'd most likely stop functioning completely on an even colder planet, such as Kollix IV). Because of this difference, they would also technically be able to come into contact with stuff much hotter than normal without being damaged directly from the heat, soley because of how their body was originally designed.

Would something like that be allowable, or should I go back and revise the concept before I even finish the profile?

Stringer ducked.

GM IC ???

He shook Jimmy's hand, slightly confused. He supposed that these Heroes hadn't met him before, but he thought at least Sarcen might recognize him.

---------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Other ICs incoming. Yes, the captured heroes are unarmed, although they will try to rearm themselves soon.

Timeimageness, I'm not sure what to say about that. It would be reasonable for the universe, and it's probably not unfair to the other players, since we have a bunch of other higher-ability characters in town.

What I'm worried about is the floodgate phenomenon - you might find that power on a Hero, and then we have a bunch of people running in here with citizen modifications.

Let me think on it.

OOC: Welp, guess I'll throw my other Hero into the fray.

Name: Daren Wolfe

Powers and Abilities: Built for strength and endurance. Exceptional marksman with years of experience in various forms of long-range weaponry. HUD-style targeting scanner/sight built into his helmet's visor as a backup in the event of poor visibility.

Weapon(s): Powerless, collapsible, military-grade longbow. Wolfe's quiver can hold up to forty arrows, most of which have one of various tiny devices incorporated into the arrowheads, distinguished by colored fletching (standard, explosivesmoke bombtracerelectric and cryonic). Also carries a hefty dagger.

Appearance: Simplified version of the 5.0 upgrade. Large frame covered in lightweight, dark/gunmetal gray armor. Carries his quiver on his back primarily (left shoulder), though can wear it from his waist when shooting from a fixed location. His core, visor and eyes are red.

Bio: Wolfe is a veteran who's been around about as long as Stormer, but is nowhere near as grumpy. On the contrary, Wolfe is very amiable, exceedingly patient, and has a good sense of humor (though he still has his grouchy-old-man moments). He frequently serves as a combat instructor in the Training Sphere.

EDIT 2/6/16:

Ship: Lois (Low Orbit Ion System) is a modified, vintage, chrome-plated jumpship. A large, black, HF logo adorns the bow, as well as 'Lois' meticulously hand painted in black next to the right wing.

Size: Small (seats three people)

Pilot(s): Wolfe

NPCs Onboard: None

Communications Systems: Access to all HF channels and most civilian frequencies.

Navigation and Drive: Has access to all HF starmaps and charting systems. Average sensor array. Cockpit is arranged with the pilot in front, passenger in the middle, and gunner in back.

Weapons/Armor: Standard plasma gun (which requires a brief cooldown period after excessive use) built into the hull below the bow/cockpit, as well as two wing-mounted laser guns (added by Wolfe). Armor plating is light but durable, and is backed up by a standard shielding system.

Propulsion Systems: Moderately agile, and considerably fast for a refurbished antique. Possesses both an overhauled sublight ion engine and a custom hyperdrive unit (commissioned by Wolfe) propelling the ship via two large thrusters.

Land vs. Dock: Can land on any solid surface with relative ease. Landing gear is also outfitted with gravitation clamps for low-to-zero-gravity landings.

Notes: This model was originally meant to act as a posh commuter craft for short trips between planets and whatever space stations orbit them. Considering its age, Lois is slightly more likely to break down than the rest of HF's fleet.

IC: Jimmy Abacus

Location: Hospital Foyer

Contact. On the outside, Jimmy was just holding Vantal's hand and... eh, smiling. But the moment Vantal took his hand was the moment that Jimmy made his way directly at his mind. It was a secretive look, one that most wouldn't necessarily notice, but if they did, it'd only make it take a few more seconds for him to get access... and a bit more pain for the other party.

Jimmy's look wasn't just a surface skim. No. Jimmy wanted to know WHO and WHAT they were. Registration codes. Orders. Previous missions. Allies. Friends. Losses. Gains. Thought patterns and personality and absolutely everything they could get their hands upon.

There had been many times that Jimmy had looked upon a real hero's entire life and career, but due to this invasive method having gotten several impostors captured, he never regretted it a bit.

So the only question was... who is the person behind Mene Vantal?

OOC: Note that I am not autohitting and managing to look into Mene's mind, but I'd be a bit disappointed if he only got the same thing as Gadget's surface skim yielded.

GM IC JIMMY ABACUS

Surprisingly for such a sophisticated being, to Jimmy's senses there would appear to be...no mind at all. It appeared that this being's mind was not composed of an onboard computer code, more like the mental spirit contained in a quaza core.

But even in a Hero, there would be code to read to translate the mental impulses of said core into the actual movement of mechanical servos and data to send to others. This being did not have it.

---------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Sorry buddy. I'll be writing up a profile for this guy not too far in the future, and you'll see why he's that way.

GM IC ???

Fortunately for Jimmy, this went entirely undetected by the being who stood before him. He's holding my hand a little longer than normal. That's odd. He pulled his hand away and looked at it, expecting to see a mark or a wound. He didn't feel any different though.

OOC: Fair enough.

I figured that it would be a good idea to present my case with some sort of drawback attached in order to provide some semblance of balance, since some of the modified civilians we've previously seen in canon (mainly the mining bots that eventually became the Fire Villains) had one as well (their energy absorption ability eventually turned them evil by frying some of their interior circuitry). The citizens that were affected by the canon events concerning Project Sunstorm are a little more iffy when it comes to following this rule, but they probably didn't walk away completely unscathed, either, so there's at least some evidence supporting that this may be an actual thing.

IC: Echo - Sunny Square

As Splint finally backed away, Echo began to move slowly towards the brute standing over Rocka. In the distance, he could hear a dropship taking off and a medical team coming towards them. Clearly, Rocka was a high priority. Well then, he'd just turn the Alpha Hero over to the medics and get his next set of coordinates from his pilot. That was, of course, assuming he could get Rocka out without any conflict.

The sounds about him were beginning to mute a little. Echo really hoped no one noticed. He'd only charged a sonic concussion shot fully once before and it had blown the test dummy right off its pedestal. If he had to use it on one of the beast creatures, it would probably only bowl them over backwards, but it would still buy him a few seconds.

He reached out his hand towards the golden Hero.

GM IC FRAVI

She nodded agreement, and began to climb the stairs next to the recharging station. At the top was a hallway that had a huge assembly tower, very similar to one across the galaxy mounted to a derelict asteroid.

If not for the distant thrum of the ship's engines, one would imagine that they were in the heart of...Hero Factory. But Fravi knew that this area would never produce a single "Hero". No, this place was for the assembly of the galaxy's next generation of villains.

Her competitors. It was one of her "boss's" projects that she really didn't like, but one that he was rather attached to. "Tabla rasa is so dull." he would say. "Villains must have self-interest, otherwise they are useless."

She only paused to glance at it before looking to a conference room on the other side of the hall.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

The brains eagerly climbed the stairs after Fravi, poking at each other when they saw the spectacle at the top. "Hero Factory?" one of them said, baffled.

IC: Riot - The Grand Tranq (Ground Floor)

Hoping that Schadenfreude had the foresight to check out both the lobby and the kitchen while he was keeping an eye on the civilians, Riot continued his sweep, entering what appeared to be a banquet hall of sorts, usually reserved for the occasional special event and such. Seeing as how most of the tables and chairs had been propped up against the windows, most likely in an attempt to limit the possible entry points an individual under the influence of a Brain could use to gain access to the hotel's interior, he quickly diverted his attention towards the ventilation ducts and began checking to see if their panels were still properly secured to the walls.

Assuming that the shafts themselves were large enough to accomodate such malicious creatures, he didn't want people to start falling for the illusion of safety if the parasites themselves had their own private super highway leading into each and every room of the building.
