GM NPC FURNO

"I'm going to open the dropship doors in five seconds!" Furno shouted. "Five...four...three...two...one...GO!"

The door opened. The ship was about 10 ft away from the turbine. Hopefully Flood could actually do what he needed.

GM IC ??? (HOTEL ROOF)

Satisfied that she was in the clear, Hayley ducked inside the cockpit to put her pilot license away. Once that was done, she began reassembling her engine, with the exception of the damaged parts, which she put off to the side. In addition to those replacements, she would need a hull patch.

Shade, if he looked, would see that this wasn't quite an ordinary crash. Something had shorn a clean hole in the hull and engine casing, leaving several burn marks. There didn't seem to be anything on the roof that could cause that.

OOC: *facepalm* Yes, that was for Kovak. Edited.

Jason peeled the mutilated brain off of the beast's head, confident that it wouldn't be able to cause any more trouble in it's current state...

IC: Wilbur Flood - Dropship

Wilbur had climbed out of his chair and taken a position behind the rock closest to the doors as Furno started counting. Thankfully, some of the puddles left from him walking around earlier made the rock easier to push out the door, and he followed it, shoving it towards the turbine. When the pull was getting uncomfortably strong, he pushed away using the stone, sending it into the turbine's blades.

Flood grinned, covering his ears. When the noise settled somewhat, he radioed Furno. "Could you send down one more? That should do it."

GM IC DR. LIE

Dr. Lie walked down past the waterfall. Perhaps to the person following him's considerable surprise (or not), he walked past the stairs and opened yet another secret passage door on the other side. If there was on thing the Doc liked, it was a good secret passage.

IC: Crowley - Super Spooky Secret Passages.

This doctor certainly liked his hidden doorways, and Crowley idly began to wonder exactly how many more hidden rooms and tunnels had been crammed into this spacious vessel.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

The brains hissed, "Heroes," they hissed. Several tried to climb onto Cobra Shard to take control of the rookie.

IC: Mr Vyle - Hospital Roof.

He sighed. No matter where he went or what he tried to do, there were always heroes in the way.

For a moment he considered drawing his pistol, but opening fire up here might draw the attention of more heroes, so he'd have to do this quietly. Stepping forwards, he stabbed the electrified blade of his cane/sword towards the hero's chest.

GM NPC ZIB

"Considering that you haven't gone anywhere since last I checked, no."

IC: Markus Vex - Tunnel.

"What do you mean, haven't gone anywhere?" Vex grumbled, "We've been walking along these tunnels for the past... I don't even know how long... Are we getting close to the city, or the source of the brains, or something?"

OOC: For Nato, do you have anyone in mind for Anamnesis' creators?

OOC: Not really. Was probably just going to make up a few NPCs when the time came.

IC Shade - Hotel Roof:

Shade decided to go for a more intimidating approach and turned his sound dampeners off but remained cloaked. He then spoke to the pilot from seemingly thin air, "That's quite a pretty scalpel cut in your ship there. Who had it out for you and why?"

IC: Cobra Shard - DEATH FROM ABOVE!

Shard had just opened the stairwell door when more brain slug creatures flew in and stuck to his face. He screamed and tried to cover his head with his hands, but some sort of lightning-sword thing punctured his elbow and fried his entire right arm. He sprayed frost everywhere, but it was no use:

IC: Mr Vyle - Hospital Roof.

He stumbled back, the sudden blast of frigid air fogging up his faceplate. He wiped it down, brushing frost off of his armour, to find that the brains had successfully taken over the hero's body. "Well done, my friends. Now let's go find your master."

GM NPC FURNO

"You'll have to get it yourself. I'm driving."

GM IC MARCUS VEX

As Marcus got off the phone with Zib, he would notice that he was walking beside an underground lake...and that he and possibly his group had been walking around in circles.

OOC: This was actually intended as an obstacle BTW; I didn't write it so the Zib conversation would fit...but it does, huh?

GM IC ??? (W/SHADE)

She jumped for a second, looking around, then concluded that the voice was under cloak. She didn't hold any resentment for the cloak - she was used to using them herself. Still, her hands went instinctively to the knife at her belt. "The brain's master," she said, looking at the unseen source of the voice. "His wretched creatures are crawling over our planet. I came here to buy a copy of Mr. Makuro's weapon when I was shot down. It's our planet's best hope."

She waited for a reaction, wondering how honorable her death would be if she was murdered by a cloaked assassin on a faraway planet. Probably not even a memorial stone for that fool.

GM IC DR. LIE

Dr. Lie (and Crowley, if he chose to follow), would find themselves in a ground floor control room. A massive map of the galaxy took front of the center. However, this map was more detailed than Fravi's above - several positions on the map were marked with red dots. A yellow dot hovered next to a green dot labeled "Mechron City".

Nearby, a screen hovered a few still images with video play buttons on top of them. The Doc walked up to the map, and made note of the yellow dot.

There was a bunch of other screens that were dark, and a big red lever with a bar under it. The bar had a keypad affixed to it.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

The evil brains skittered down the stairs. At the bottom, they turned left down the hallway, heading straight for their Master's room.

The brain controlling Cobra Shard had him keep up with the group.

It was then that they saw the Master behind the brains, sleeping in a hospital bed. Beside him, his pet beast kept watch.

GM IC ???

The horse beast nudged his master awake at the sight of the Hero, only to see that he was controlled by a brain. Still, the master behind the brains mumbled groggily.

GM NPC EVIL BRAINS

"Master" one of the brains murmured in sympathy. The beast glared at them in disgust.

IC: Wilbur Flood - Estuary

"Oh, uh, right." Where was his head at today? He made short work of the turbine with a second boulder, and was able to steer it more accurately, since slowing the turbine made the pull weaker. He swam away once the rock was on course, just in case.

~

IC: ??? - Underground Lake

"Well, that's... unfortunate," he said, noticing the lake. He glanced between the two Heroes. There was definitely something off about the way they talked with him. He was growing increasingly concerned that he wasn't fooling anyone here- that would be a first. He'd need to see about that next time he was able. Had something come up fairly recently that would give him away? Or perhaps they were just certain of where his counterpart was? It was probably the latter; it was pretty much a requirement that he keep himself in the loop, and he had been trawling the internet for news on the ride over. Before he crashed, that is.

For now, his best option was to continue to play his part and slip away the first chance he got, before these Heroes decided to attempt arrest, or something. The most important thing was to keep polite and friendly, to stay on their good side.

IC Shade - Hotel Roof:

Shade began to circle Hayley while keeping her at a safe distance as he kept talking: "The brains' master, eh? He must be used to shooting things down to pull off a single shot like that and pierce through the hull and the engine casings as well. You did a good job landing under such circumstances," Shade complimented. "Do you have any info on this criminal that would serve of any use such as his whereabouts, weaknesses, appearance, something like that? It would make Hero Factory's job easier." Shade said this last sentence casually to let the pilot know that he was affiliated with Mr. Makuro's organisation, and to (hopefully) make her think twice before doing anything rash.

OOC: Whoops didn't realise Jade was talking to Quark

IC: Dorothy Quark - Market

While waiting for a response, a pilot approached her trying to commandeer her ship. She scowled.

"You are not," she snapped, turning her mic off temporarily so Zib couldn't hear. "There's nothing requiring an evac here. If you need a ride, sit in the back and shut up. I'll be flying back in a few minutes."

OOC: Finally caught up with all the goings-on. Now to submit some profiles... First two are new, third is an old OC of mine modified for the HF universe.

Name: Henry Flint (Hero)

Powers and Abilities: An immensely strong, tank-type warrior built for the long haul. Outfitted with heavy armor designed to withstand environmental extremes (to a point). Helmet features a built-in respirator/oxygen-filter (think 'aquata breather' from Star Wars) that works in most environments.

Weapons: A massive, black-bladed khopesh (fancy sword) and a basic plasma pistol.

Appearance: Two heads taller than the average Hero, heavily built, massive shoulders/pauldrons, and wears a helmet that looks like a sallet/gasmask hybrid. His 5.0 armor is white over a black frame, while the right vambrace is silver, and his core and eyes are teal.

Bio: Flint is taciturn, but not unfriendly, and tends to be an extremely cautious individual. He certainly didn't start out that way, and was in fact a rather impulsive Hero back in his rookie days. The change was brought on, gradually, as each of his old teammates fell victim, one way or another, to their own recklessness, and Flint blames himself for having contributed to their behavior.

Although he may be a serious guy, deep down he's just a big softie who loves classical music.

___________________________________

Name: Helen Corona (Civilian)

Job/Location: Mission Manager - Makuhero City

Appearance: Average height, shapely white-and-silver frame, white hair similar in style to Daniella Capricorn's, but with a sort of flip at the end, and a piece of pale blue metal that resembles a headband. She always wears a headset while on duty, and is never without her datapad.

Bio: Helen has been working with HF for a couple of years now, slowly working her way up from Call Center operator to reaching Mission Manager shortly after the Brain Attack. She is very formal, if a bit aloof, and takes her job very seriously (some joke that it's impossible to get her to smile). Despite this, she cares very much for the Heroes in her charge, and would face Von Nebula himself if it meant keeping them safe.

Being an astronomy hobbyist, she greatly enjoys star mapping, and often keeps a small observation log nearby.

___________________________________

Name: Dr. Robert A. Xaal (Villain)

Powers, Abilities & Weapons: Having suffered extensive damage to his optics many years ago, Xaal now relies on a radar system (think Kanohi Arthron) to compensate for his dead eyes (he grew tired of constantly fixing/replacing them). The device's range is limited to a ten-foot circumference, so while he can still get around with relative ease, he obviously won't be running around like those pesky Heroes. Focusing the device on a single area/subject will provide far more detailed information, but at the cost of being completely blind to everything else. Having no combat experience to speak of, and thus no weapons, he instead possesses a shielding device that projects a small energy dome with a maximum duration of fifteen minutes per charge (assuming no damage is taken).

Appearance: Wears a long, dark-grey lab coat over a tall, skeletal frame, with black, elbow-length gloves and matching boots. His head is sleek, white, and skull-like, and his eyes are as blank as a corpse's. The collar of his lab coat covers the majority of his neck, but what little can be seen is crude, deteriorating technology that betrays his age. Two thick hoses jut out of his upper chest, run over his shoulders, and attach to a hefty white box that's strapped to his back.

Bio: Volatile, sadistic, and audacious, all hidden under the facade of an amiable gentleman. Formally a very benign physician and scientist, Xaal was once called to HF to tend to an injured group of villains, one of whom broke free in a fit of rage and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of the poor doctor. Xaal's physical and mental health slowly declined thereafter, and he's become rather neurotic about keeping that contraption on his back running...

These days he acts as a private physician and inventor for his fellow villains.

(Voiced by Tim Curry)

Location: Makuhero City - Outlying Laboratory

OOC: I realize there are suddenly a lot of doctors here, but I've been itchin' to play this guy from the beginning, dagnabbit.

IC: Dorothy Quark - Market

"So, it's not even an evac." Her icy glare could freeze flame. "Get in the back and pray I don't have you officially reprimanded for attempting to commandeer my vehicle without a proper reason. Goodness help you if you were the one to bring Thumper here with no clearance or mission. I will be driving. From the look of the Hero Factory ship you presumably flew in on..." Her gaze shifted to pass over the crashed ship nearby before locking on the pilot. "I would say your flying skills leave much to be desired."

Thumper, unbeknownst to Quark, tried to hand-gesture at the pilot in warning. Quark was not a Hero to get in an argument with, especially over who was going to fly the spaceship.

Thumper gave a cheerful wave in reply. Quark scoffed and ignored the question.

"You may know how to fly one, but that doesn't mean you should. Or that you will. I don't care if you flew that craft through a solar flare blindfolded. Your options here, pilot, are to stay on the planet until someone picks you up, or take a seat in the back of the ship. You are not flying."

"Did T. Pecs hit us?" Thumper asked, the thought finally clicking. "We were really high up when we started falling. Was he in another ship?"

Quark raised an eyebrow at the pilot.

IC: Eloise Thumper - Confused And Slightly Concerned

"I got a call about a secret mission," Thumper explained to the pilot. "I thought I did have clearance! I mean, missions usually give you clearance, right?"

"There was no mission, Thumper," Quark groaned.

"Are you sure it wasn't Zib's personal number, or-"

"Yes. You were called by another party. What have I told you?!"

"Always check the caller ID. But-"

"What if they were calling you here into a trap? Or you got kidnapped?!"

"I'm sorry, Dotty... I just..." Thumper's shoulders slumped. "I was really excited to get a secret mission..."

Quark sighed. "We'll talk about it later."

She turned to the pilot. "Now. Are you telling me you had no idea she wasn't on an official mission?"

Quark gave a very long, very drawn out sigh. "Fine. Fine! I am sick of this mess. You have your options, pilot. Get on the ship or stay here. I don't care. But touch the controls and I am arresting you for theft."

She stomped away, reactivating her mic. "I hope you have some answers for me, Zib. Any hits on who could have called Thumper? I'm not sure how our voice recognition software works for impressions, but hopefully there's something."

IC: Eloise Thumper - Not A Secret Agent After All

Thumper turned to the pilot apologetically. "I've made quite a mess, haven't I? But the message sounded real... I guess I should have known no one would call me for a secret mission. I'm sorry you got dragged into this. I still appreciate you taking the time to fly me here, even if it was for a fake mission."

IC: Riot - Hero Factory (Simulation Chamber)

Well, this is going about as well as I expected...

It had been some time since Riot had infiltrated his way into the building, dodging security cameras, mounted turrets, laser grids, and the occasional minefield in order to do so. Evading the various species that were under the influence of Witch Doctor's Quaza Spikes had proven quite a challenge as well, but he felt that his best moment so far was when he had kicked that explosive barrel into the squad of Blank Heroes manufactured specifically for the Brains, only to fire off a few shots in order to take both them and their parasitic overlords out in the ensuing explosion. Of course, that had alerted the entire facility to his presence, resulting in a rather frantic battle with Voltix and Splitface that eventually forced him to escape via the ventilation system, but for a training scenario designed around the concept of Hero Factory being taken over by an army of Villains, he had quite honestly expected nothing less.

And now, after finding himself in the program's version of the Containment Center, he was currently vaulting over the individual cells, trying desperately not to be in front of the business-end of a certain Ex-Hero's Plasma Shooter.

Fun times.

OOC: New hero for the sake of feeling that some underwater aid is needed. Might edit Azure for the mission too. I'm actually interested in investing time to participate in mission 2.

Name: Xiphias Billade, Swordsman of the Sea

Powers and Abilities:

  1. He is naturally fast, with mini turbines on his body to increase his general speed. Although he is equally fast on land as he is in the water, he is more clumsy as he is used to the underwater depths.

  2. He is built to withstand the crushing effects of water pressure (up to 1000 atm of water pressure).

Weapon(s):

  1. Xiphias’s right arm is a gauntlet that is designed to look like a swordfish’s head, complete with a retractable energy blade. It also comes with a built-in AI partner named Gladius who acts as Xiphias’s consultant, and as a side communicating device.

    • The gauntlet can also fire energy blasts from the energy blade.

Appearance: Xiphias appears as a standard 2.0 model with thick and heavy cerulean and silver plating. Here’s a drawing of him. His helmet is very knightlike.

Bio: He spends most of his time underwater, and his own quarters is specially made to fit his lifestyle with the entrance to his room on the roof and his room essentially an aquarium. He spends time training to try and get used to walking on land, but he still hasn’t gotten the hang of it. He sometimes will work with a team of other undersea related heroes.

"This is a auxiliary control room for the ship. Traferous has the main one, but this is where we'd go to, if, say, enemies invade the ship. Unlikely, but the boss likes to have all available safety measures he can think of." Doctor Lie paused. "I've commandeered a small part of this area for myself, so I know where I am and what's going on in the galaxy without having to walk up the stairs."

"Of course, I could steal control of the ship for myself from here, but that's a good way to get myself killed. Traferous would easily beat me in a fight. That's one thing he doesn't tolerate - people stealing his stuff. He hates that."

"I don't know anything about that, other than he seems to have an unlimited supply of those brain creatures, and a cloaked ship that's bigger than mine that fires some sort of hot electric beams. I'm requesting an immediate deployment of a repair squad to help out the pilot here and also to note what kind of weapon capabilities this ship potentially has based on the damage that was inflicted." This message sent, Shade addressed Hayley, "I hope you don't mind if a trained repair team from Hero Factory happens to wander by and do some repairs for you. Your logic regarding the brains' master's whereabouts is sound enough that I decided to take the risk that we could be wrong on that score by telling Zib that he is for sure on this planet. GM IC MARCUS VEX

The rock sunk to the bottom. One of the Tunneler Beasts from earlier shone a light down into the lake, showing that the rock was intact. The lake appeared to be a natural water lake so far.

IC: Markus Vex - Underground Lake Shore.

"Well, since we've been walking around in circles since we reached this lake," he holstered his firearm; it wouldn't be much use underwater, "It looks like we'll have to try swimming to find a way out of here."

GM IC DR. LIE

"Of course, I could steal control of the ship for myself from here, but that's a good way to get myself killed. Traferous would easily beat me in a fight. That's one thing he doesn't tolerate - people stealing his stuff. He hates that."

IC: Crowley - Control Room.

"Does Traferous know you have this room?" He asked. If the guy didn't like his stuff being stolen, it seemed strange that he'd risk allowing someone to have a room like this on board his ship.

GM IC ???

"What are you doing here?" the brain's master grumbled. "Are you here to kill me?". The beast next to him murmured quietly, shaking his head at his master. No.

IC: Mr Vyle - Hospital Room.

"No, but..." he frowned, "...it looks like someone else's already tried to. What happened to you?"

IC--Simon Trigger--Sky/Hotel roof

When Simon noticed Cobra wandering off, he naturally followed him. However, the other Hero was still several blocks from the hospital when Simon noticed activity on the hotel roof. There was quite a party going on over there, and someone seemed to be radioing for assistance. Well, far be it from me to deny them, the airborne Hero decided. The rookie is almost to the hospital, and there's nothing hazardous in the area. Blissfully unaware of the dramatic irony in that last sentence, he made his way over to the hotel roof, coming in for a landing next to Shade. "Need a hand?"

IC--Artemus Schadenfreude/Robert Solder--Hero Factory

Artemus woke, still a bit groggy from the anesthetic, to see Robert wielding a pair of tweezers to transfer the removed slices of symbiote into a sterile jar. "Hoarder," he muttered, slowly sitting up.

"Just stocking up for my future crimes against nature," the doctor smirked, labelling the lid of the jar with the date and a reference number. He then slid open a refrigerated storage cabinet, revealing shelves laden with several dozen identical jars, each containing trimmings from the follow-up operations for every mission Artemus had been on since his infection. "Besides, if this thing starts acting weirdly, I want to be able to backtrack and find out exactly where it started," he said, placing the jar in the next empty space. "Can't be too careful dealing with unknown species."

OOC: Before I forget entirely:

Location: New Stellac City - Outlying Laboratory

OOC: I realize there are suddenly a lot of doctors here, but I've been itchin' to play this guy from the beginning, dagnabbit.

Henry and Helen approved.

Dr. Xaal not approved due to being started in a closed-to-PC location. Otherwise, he's fine.

Weapon(s):

  1. Xiphias’s right arm is a gauntlet that is designed to look like a swordfish’s head, complete with a retractable energy blade. It also comes with a built-in AI partner named Gladius who acts as Xiphias’s consultant, and as a side communicating device to HF.

Not approved yet; what are the capabilities of that AI? Is it just a communicating/consultant, or can it hack stuff/ do code/ or even fire the weapon on its own? Just so I'm clear.

OOC: Also: for Cobra ShardRylinth, you can still play the character, as long as you allocate for the fact that he's under the control of a brain.

IC Shade - Hotel Roof:

Shade opened the communication channel with Zib and said, "Zib, Shade here; The brains' master is on this planet and his escape ride is a giant cloaked ship capable of some major damage. There's a downed ship here under cloak on top of the hotel roof in need of repairs. Thanks for your help. If you don't need anything more of me, I'll be on my way."

GM IC ??? (W/SHADE)

"That won't be necessary," Hayley said. "I can repair my own ship, thanks, and I'm the most qualified to do it. The last thing I need is a repair squad poking around here - it will just make me a massive target. You fool! Why did you THINK I'M USING A CLOAK FIELD?"

"I'll also inform you, moron, that this ship was blasted by a electric photon beam capable of melting through solid metal. The ship that attacked me is entirely organic, and thus capable of evading 97% of the sensor arrays the galaxy uses. You don't know this? Where did you come from, Galaxy Idiot Shack I'm Just Born Yesterday?"

Hayley really didn't want to tick off Hero Factory. She was trying to buy a weapon from them, after all. But it would be no good to draw attention to herself by having Heroes around. Stupid. stupid.

GM NPC NEX

"Good. Then we can bust his tail and take him down." Nex responded immediately. He was now climbing down from the tower where he had deposited the bugs, enjoying the weird looks from the office workers on the way down. He had already taken two window-reflection selfies/priceless civillian capture photos. Herofeed was going to eat this up. Maybe he could put one of them as his Hero Book profile image...

"Might help if we have Mr. Makuro's new weapon first though..."

GM IC 78 EAST

"Now that is a very good question. Traferous is in Mechron, I believe to destroy some things and blow things up, as usual. But he needs a distraction for the Mechron Police department. I think you're the man for the job."

GM IC DR. LIE

"Yes. I'm the ship's engineer, technically, so I have access to these sorts of things. If I didn't have access, I wouldn't know about this secret door or have the code to open it."

"I know there's at least one place like this I don't have access to - the ship's vault. But there might be other passages or doors only Traferous knows about, period."

GM IC ??? (BRAIN MASTER)

"I got shot. Sniper, must have been. Boom. Dead on arrival. At least, they wanted me to be."

The beast nodded its agreement.

GM IC WILBUR FLOOD

Half of the turbine's blades broke off, while the other half were badly damaged. The electric field flickered intermittently, on and off.
